TL;DR; New screen doesn't boot, but does work if I connect after boot
So, I cracked my screen. It happens. I got a new one from China, replaced the cracked one.
But, now my phone does boot up, I get the white "your phone isn't locked" warning. Then, the screen goes black and stays black. If I hook up the old screen, I get the LineageOS Logo and it boots up fine. Then I disconnect the cracked screen and connect the new screen. And it also seems to work fine.
That sounds like an issue with the replacement screen right? I am running LineagOS 15.1 on the Mi. Is there anything else that I can or should do? Or just get another replacement?

Hi Guys,
i got a problem with my good old HD2: I flashed the SonyArcHD ROM on my device, it worked for a few weeks, but then, i did nothing, the screen went black. First i was able to "turn it back on" when i pushed it a little bit against the board, that worked for a few more days, but thet the screen went black forever. The background light is working, it even boots up(it happened when i just used it like elsewhen), i got even a haptic feedback from the unlock handle on the lockscreen, what means that it works perfectly "behind the black wall", but it shows nothing on the screen. Not even the bootloader. But the funny thing is, i never dropped it again, or damaged it anyways. It just hapened from nothing!
So has anyone a idea what i coul do?
Thanks, Jukpulfer.
Sorry for my badass english...
IMO you should check LCD to motherboard connector, maybe it is loose or dirty because of moisture/dust/whatever.
If no improvement(aka solved), I'm afraid you LCD is dying!
So I have an Galaxy S4.
Whenever I try to turn it one a couple of things can happen\
1. It goes past the boot screen and boots successful only for the screen to instantly go black. The blue led stays on.
2. It gets stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S4 screen
3. It displays a weird pattern

Does anybody know what is happening and how to fix this?
Flash new software and replace screen - 50£

I don't think a malfunctioning screen can prevent the phone from booting.
I assume it has something to do with your motherboard, in which case you either replace it or get a new phone.
Yep. The GPU is failing. I bet if he enters recovery mode he'll have a perfectly functioning screen. This is because recovery doesn't use the GPU.
Hey, I broke my op2 screen so I bought one from ebay, teared it apart all correctly (i'm a computer technician), installed the new screen, all fine but a weird symptom appears:
- It boots and shows the Oneplus logo then screen all black. I know it booted cuz the touch buttons work and i can ear the sound of unlocking etc. Also if i plug into the pc I can easily access its memory.
- If I try to enter recovery I know it enters too but the screen is all black, the only mode I can see the screen is fastboot mode and it stays and acts normally.
- I did a full reset on the phone back to stock via adb, thinking it was software, its all stock now, still the same occurs
Im out of ideas so I just think the screen is faulty from ebay, did this happened to anyone?
Thanks in advance
Hello, so I have a J7 2017 (SM-J730GM/DS) 32 GB Unlocked Dual SIM which has served me well for a while. I ended up dropping the phone at some point in a sliver of time without a case and the screen cracked. After replacing the screen I noticed if the screen was pressed in a certain area it would go crazy and reboot the phone (crazy as in the pixels would do weird things like dimming, going grainy, like the display shorted in some area, then the phone would reboot itself), probably some error on my installation of the screen and the ribbon cables (I can see an area where it looks creased, it never sat flush with the body of the phone as the OEM screen did). I was able to just be careful and not trigger the reboot for some good time until it happened again and the phone would continuously reboot, allowing me to only get back to the OS through the boot menu, selecting "reboot now". That worked for a while until it would never boot into the OS, just looping at the screen where it says the phone name, where it would vibrate, go black, and go back to the phone name screen. I gave up trying to fix it, as I had a backup phone, and just now had some ideas. I figure the OS is corrupted in some way, I am no master in knowing the details on how phone boots up and such, so I did some research and successfully flashed the most recent ROM onto the phone using Odin 3.14. It still doesn't stop the looping, unfortunately.
Any ideas? I hear people talking about using TWRP or something to do things boot related, but I don't want to possibly mess anything up further nor do I know what they were talking about.
Thanks,
Stella
So i once took my phone to charge before going to bed and the next morning the screen was just black and the phone was "dead". The screen was black, nothing reacting. Rebooting was possible, but screen still black. I went through a whole night trying to figure out whats wrong and lastly i flashed the stock rom using the recovery tool and accidently ended up locking the bootloader with a non working screen.
Today the replacement screen arrived, i connected the new one, restarted the phone and still its just the screen lighting up a few seconds then turning off as soon as the redmi should appear. It does look like its not the screen but still something in the software. Is there anything i can still do to rescue the phone or is it just dead?
greetings

Try going into the stock recovery mode through hardware buttons (Hold Vol+ and Power) and try and factory reset.
