Bootloader relocked - OnePlus 8 Pro Questions & Answers

hi guys, i just rooted my oneplus 8 pro. do i need to re lock my bootloader after i root? thanks

short answer: No.
Longer answer: If you need to relock you have to restore your ROM to stock state first (remove root, TWRP if you have it). If you lock it with modded software you will soft brick the device.

Why would you need too?
Never lock bootloader if you have done any modifications.

Bootloader questions for ZE551KL/Z00T

Hi,
I want to root and install CM 13 but I have 2 questions about unlocking the bootloader in order to root.
- Can you relock the bootloader on the 551KL?
- When unlocking, will it remove all my stuff and factory reset my phone?
Thanks, tdm.

I assume that you can relock in fastboot, but I haven't tried it. As for the unlock app, it didn't wipe a thing when I ran it. Still, it's always wise to backup your data just in case.
1- no there's no way to turn back.
2- yes.
But you doesn't need to have a rooted phone to install CM13, just a phone with bootloader unlocked is enough

Relocking Bootloader

Is there a way to relock bootloader? I tried flashing stock rom via TWRP but the prompt still shows that Device cannot be trusted blalbla unlocked.
Can anyone give me a way how to relock my BL? I also tried SRK tool with relock bootloader with my Unlock code, but it doesnt work.
Thanks
EDIT: Please lock thread. I tried locking via eRecovery and it worked. Thanks
Update your device. Use the full update rom like b161, 201 or whatever you like. That will remove the unlocked bootloader and root as well.

Yes is tested: at any update (via dialer or three key pressed) with stock firmware, you lose root, twrp and unlocked bootloader (if you have root, twrp and bootloader unlocked).

Flash ROM -> Lock Bootloader

Hello,
I'm still pretty new at this. Basically, I just want to update to vanilla Nougat.
When you unlock your bootloader, when restarting the device you always get a warning screen warning you that the device has been modified.
Can you unlock -> twrp -> root -> flash -> lock?
This way, you're on an updated/custom rom and you don't have the warning / error message?
Thank you in advance!

i think it will only go away when you flash a stock rom, if you manually relock your bootloader the message will stay. but flashing a stock rom will lock the bootloader instead of relock

i'm not sure, but i think you have your warranty back if you flash the stock rom.
it seems you even keep your warranty after unlocking the bootloader, as long as there are no problems to be found related to software modifications. so you should be fine as long as the phone is running a stock rom

Unlock bootloader for Galaxy A5 2016

Hi all,
1) Is it possible to unlock bootloader for Galaxy A5 2016 without rooting the device ? I saw the option "OEM unlock" in the developer settings.
2) If yes I want to install the Recovery custom TWRP and after make a Nandroid backup always without rooting the device. Is it possible ?
3) Is warranty canceled with bootloader unlocked ?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

Firstly, you unlock the bootloader in order to root and not the other way around. If you check the OEM Unlock option in developer setting, you phone's bootloader is unlocked.
Secondly, Yes, I am pretty sure that flashing recovery means your warranty is voided but if just bootloader unlocked, your warranty is fine.
Thirdly, Yes, you can flash TWRP via Odin without root access although the steps are a bit time consuming. You can reply if you want to know how to flash twrp via odin or just search google. I am glad to help.

Back to stock after unlocking bootloader?

Hey there,
I've read about GooglePay not working after unlocking bootloader. I don't know if I will ever use GooglePay but I want to know if I can go back to stock (lock bootloader?) some day after unlocking to start using GooglePay.
Cheers
Google Pay works even with Magisk.
But yes, you can lock your bootloader again with adb/fastboot ot Mi Flash, when you want.

You can relock BL only if you first go back to stock
Locking BL pulls low-level Factory reset (not sure would it even work if you are on LN or other custom ROM and/or custom Recovery or would it simply brick your phone that you will need then paid assistance with EDL account to unbrick)
(Besides, what would you do then in future if you lock BL when you have LN - you would never be able to unlock again because you must be on stock for unlocking. And with relocked BL you would not be able to flash anything anymore)
Thank you for this explenation,
