tibu help - Essential Phone Questions & Answers

hey boys and girls. having trouble getting titanium back pro to run properly on androod 9.
i dont use google play services which i realize is part of the problem as tibu says "checking license" until it then says "play services is taking too long to respond".
so ......... does anyone know of a workaround or a version of tibu that i could try?
thanks for any ideas.
dave

oops. leftover tibu files in /data/data. deleted them , reinstalled tibu and all is well.

mybackup: some restored apps can't run. titanium: some apps not restored

guys,
i use mybackup pro to backup (duh ) my apps from mccm build. then i restore them on my newly installed nexushd2 build. when the process completes, i try opening some apps one by one and some of them can't be opened (force close). the ones that do open, don't retain the saved states!
with titanium, some apps don't get restored at all, although i have selected them.
unfortunately, angry birds is one of the victims. so, if all else fails, could anyone at least help me with an angry birds save file?
yes, i have rebooted my phone. any help will be appreciated. thanks.

Backing up apps

Anyone that has actually been able to pull off a working backup, please tell me how you have did it. I have used multiply versions of Titanium Backup, and they all do the same thing, create a second folder starting with a period. Then the app just fc's. So what backup software are you using and what busybox version (how did you get it installed). What device did the backup come from. Does it work after rebooting the xoom.
Thanks
No, not yet. No FC issues, but not back-ups either. It creates the folder, but the only things being backed up are wifi, bluetooth settings, etc. No data or apps are being backed up. My BB version says 1.16.0 and that's what came within the app.
Got angry birds, angry birds seasons, and google voice to work by extracted the data files and moving the backups file by file.

[WORKAROUND] Can't defrost frozen apps with titanium backup on KL7

Took me some time to find a solution, a lot of googling,
eventually I found this magic post
And I thought it deserves a better spotlight.
1. Copy /data/system/packages.xml to your PC. (or edit it somehow...)
2. Edit it, find the line with your app name that looks something like :
Code:
<package name="com.sec.android.app.samsungapps" codePath="/data/app/com.sec.android.app.samsungapps-1.apk" nativeLibraryPath="/data/data/com.sec.android.app.samsungapps/lib" flags="1" ft="134880eb380" it="11b7e237e00" ut="134880eb753" version="26114" userId="10039" enabled="false">
3. This line freezes samsung apps, which I wanted to desfrost to make S-Choice work. Change the false, to true > Save.
4. Copy the file back to the phone.
5. Contact titanium backup author and report this bug.
Reboot, Enjoy.
PS - I did not find the solution myself, I am just making a solution found by olympicchicken More readable and searchable.
I too have been having the problem with not being able to unfreeze system apps. What worked for me is to uninstall the frozen app from within Titanium BU (be sure to have a backup before uninstalling). Then just reboot and was able to restore the app through Titanium BU.
Don't know if it made any difference but I had done the app backup in Titanium before I froze it in the first place.

I didn't backup any of the system apps I froze before freezing, hence if I would have deleted them, I would have been deleting the only apk copy i had of them.
Could somebody please check their /data/system/packages.xml for the line referencing "com.sec.android.app.controlpanel" (Task Manager) and post this entire line for me?
I've stupidly uninstalled it and TB can't restore it from backup as the line is missing.
Cheers.

Even if you have an app frozen you can still select backup. Then uninstall the app, reboot, and restore the app.

That didn't work as TB just hangs when trying to restore. I don't have a nandroid backup so if someone can post that line then I can at least fix it manually.
A simpler way to locate the particular line is by searching for "false" will keep showing all the frozen apps ) much faster too
I can confirm the uninstall and restore method worked for me..
I had frozen all three samsung app services(app, account, una) and I wanted to unfreeze them because of the free Dead Space and Modern Combat offers and I couldn't unfreeze them..
So as they were already frozen I made a back up of them, uninstalled them, reboot and restore them.. Worked like a charm..
Thanks guys.
I also try to contact the TITANIUM BACKUP developer informing about this bug... but not update avaible for the moment!
The file-edit method did not work for me. However, the uninstall/restore did. You have to convert system apps to user apps to backup them first, but it's quick and easy.
Possible solution
Hi guys,
Check out this test version of TB and try the "power defrost" feature in Batch menu. Hopefully it will help

Hi,
This link is not needed anymore. The official version has it now

Archos 70 froyo apps.

I tried to free up application memory by uninstalling contacts and calendar apps via titanium backup but SILLY ME i didn't backup first. I'm an idiot, yeah...
The only problem is that i'm getting Google Services Framework force closes again and again unless i uninstall all Google apps.
I don't want to reformat my device so i'm asking a huge favour.
Could anyone with gen8 fw 2.4.81 upload his /system/apps folder or at least his system backup files for TB?
I know i ask too much but it is a really annoying pop-up and i can't fix it.
Thanks mates....

Be k up data

What's the best way to move apps and data from n5 L to 6p M? Can we just move the Titanium BU folder to the new device and restore data? Google doesn't restore apps and data from Amazon, and seems to miss some other game data. Just restore Titanium app with Google restore? Or does nfc work with all apps and data (never tried it)?
Not sure what spell check did to the title, supposed to be "Back up data".
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Titanium backup will do the trick, I've found. There are plenty of guides on how to do this. (Seems like you are familiar w/ it though.) http://bfy.tw/29yY
I usually make backups of only the apps I'm concerned about, plus a keyboard.apk I like, plus Amazon stuffs...
Then copy the folder into the SD card area of the new device.
Install TB from Play store on new phone.
Remove apps I'll be restoring, because they auto-installed, and it's kind of annoying but whatever.
Point TB to the folder I copied over, and restore one at a time. I've had some apps go sideways on a batch restore, but I don't know if it was the batch restore or the backup itself which caused the issue. Either way, I do one at a time now.
Enjoy.
More tips:
The First rule of TB is you never restore system apps.
The Second rule of TB is you NEVER restore system apps.
III Commandment : Thou shalt restoreth system apps never, or thy soul shall burn in heck.
If an app you plan on restoring DID NOT AUTO-GOOGLE-RESTORE-thingy during setup, it's a big tip it might not be compatible in some way in your new OS version / device. Go to Play store and check.
Games and other apps that already backup to the cloud - skip those, or at least don't restore them until you install from Play store normally and see how they recover. If they recover fine, then great.
Restore a small # of apps at a time, and test them all.
