nord 12gb
my nord 12gb variant drops around 25% at night during my sleep. very irritating 1st time i am using a mobile around 30000 thousand and feeling very disappointment choosing one+ Nord. company advertise battery for the whole day , but in actual battery sucks and i have to recharge my device 2 times . **** One+
Same issue. Overnight it drops between 18% and 23% depending on my sleepcycle. I blame the Do Not Disturb mode, Doze mode or something is just plain wrong with my apparatus.
No auch problems here, I'm losing between 3 and 4 percent in 8 hours over night which is totally ok for me.
I don't have that problem, the battery lasts a day and a half, with normal use, bt for smartwach always connected, bt by car, 2-3 hours of online radio, surfing the internet, whatsapp, calls
And at night I do not have a consumption beyond 3-4%, it seems normal to me.
Do you use original charger and cable?
Yes, used original charger and adapter.
How much SoT do you have?
8Gb or 12Gb version?
My SoT is now 3h15 and I al on 11%...
Normal usage, wifi and mobile data on. BT only when needed, no GPS, no intensive graphical games,...
Mine ist dropping max 2-3% overnight. I think that's okay. But more than 10% is weird, maybe some Apps or Services waking Up the Phone alot? Im running Stock oos no root and newest version

8GB Version, normal sot 5-6h with a little gaming.
With a Lot gaming 4-5.
Without gaming (my max sot) 8h 1min with 11% left(Bluetooth speaker all day, mostly using Chrome and Instagram , some Video editing too) (some more Details and Screenshots Here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-nord/review/screen-time-t4127271/post83700021)
(dark mode on, 90hz refresh rate, brightness at 60% with autobrightness on, nfc Off, autosync on for all accounts)
At the Moment i am at 95% with 40min sot
Thank for the reply. I noticed the Camera app was eating half of my battery, I disabled Face Unlock but still went from 29% to 11¨% overnight and nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. I wiped the cache such as suggested on the Oneplus forum and did a full charge. We'll see tonight how that goes.

That seems to do it. 3 days, 1,5h talk time, 4h40 SoT, etc... and 6% left.
Now I noticed WiFi (5Ghz) drops connecting on longer standby times, that didn't happen before.
I don't get this machine.

Ok, got it. It's a setting to disconnect Wi-Fi during long standby times.
Settings - Battery - Battery optimalization - Advanced Optimalization (3 dots top right corner) - Sleep standby-optimalization
All of a sudden my WhatsApp eats 21% of the total power consumption, anybody is experiencing the same? Didn't change the optimization settings for any app. for the first month since I had this phone everything was at around 1-2%. Now Whatsapp is using way more power and didn't see any news that this affects all models

Yep, cache clear did not work for me at all. I uninstalled some crappy apps like FB and YT Music as well as many others ported from my older device. That plus the lastest Always On Edge updates helped a lot. I went from 20% to 8-10% standy drain. Whatsapp still consumes a lot more than any other app, even if i don't use it
3 month of use : I've noticed that battery is draining a lot (lot)!when I let auto rotate & bluetooth activated. I think I will fix it with some Tasker profile so I will not miss to disable it anymore.

I'll test this later today. Charge my phone to 100%, and right before I close my eyes, I'll unplug and see how it does. I'm curious as well.
Typically 0.5% per hour or less with lots of bloatware disabled (200+ apps). Couple gmail accounts, s note and scrapbook syncing.
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
So I unplugged my phone when it reached 100% and got a notification saying the battery is fully charged and unplugged it at 10:40 pm. About 7 hrs and 20 mins later, my phone dropped to 93%. That's about 1% every hour. My phone is stock, no root (yet) with 17 apps disabled. WiFi is on, brightness was on the lowest setting and all accounts on my phone sync through the the night.
I've never done this with one of my previous phones, so I can't really give you my opinion on how I feel about this. Let me know what you guys think. I'll try disabling some more apps and doing the test again and see if that has some effect.

if you are rooted and have xposed. download Mobileactiveradiofix...bassically some apps you are using that utilize mobile data, after you turn off the screen it still using data....thats the gist of it.
Drain about 1% per hour.
Tried 3G all the way. Not much savings compared to LTE all day
I have the 920CD Dual sim. Horrible Battery standby. I lose 2 - 3% per hour on android system usage while i'm sleeping.
I tried disabling apps etc but to no avail!
During night my phone consumes up to 30% of battery, my stand-by is 16hrs at max!!!. I love my phone but there is an obvious problem about it.
On the other side my wife has the same phone and her battery withstands up to two(2!) days.
(Hers is running on stock firmware with simple tuning, mine is also on stock but i checked and disabled almost everything)
My phone is ; N920CXXU1AOH2 hers is N920CXXU1AOGF. Is there a way i clone her phone firmware and copy into mine?
I think you guys above may have Wakelock. Mine started up recently and it drains up to 15% of my battery from just a bit under 2 hours. Before that it would be fine. Unplugged all night (8hours) and lost 2-3% battery
I couldn't believe this rating was so low. This is the best at standby. Absolutely phenomenal. It's literally around 1-2% an hour. I can get home after 11hrs and still have 70% left. Usually it's around 50% with 2 hrs of screen on time / use.
Got an update yesterday. ..it includes the doze feature from marshmallow. ..vastly improved the standby time
ścribbled from my Note 5
I wouldn't call 1-2% per hour idle time phenomenal, It's average at best.
0.5% per hour (or 2 hours per 1%) I'd say that's very good.
3 hours per 1%, that's excellent. This happens to be my Xperia Z3 Compact's idle time when I sleep.
Phenomenal? It would need to be 4 hours per 1% idle time.
My Note 5 is doing 1% per hour currently.
My iPhone 6s Plus can go over 7 hours standby and still be at 100%. One of my biggest peeves with Android was battery drain. Just switched with the release of the 6s and am very happy. Had the Note 5 and still have the Nexus 6. The doze feature still can't even come close. And it only works if the phone is shelved. Not in the pocket. Not good enough for me.
Please everyone who has the drain, write samsung feedback on their support website. It is most of the time caused by the wlan_rx_wake, wlan_cntrl_wake and wlan_wake wakelocks. I am trying to find a fix but so far nothing has helped me except turning off wifi.

Really? I can live without WiFi most of the time if it helps my battery.
I was getting great battery life, I stopped using the Note 5 for about 3 weeks while I reviewed some other devices and when I return I'm loosing 5% an hour, doing nothing. I've done a factory reset once, slightly better, but still not great. Might try another tomorrow.
Let us know if you find a fix.

just like you .. I come from a s6 and did not have this problem, hopefully be resolved soon
During night, I switch off mobile network and wifi, but both SIM still active for phonecalls. Drain this way is around 0.5% per hour or 3%-4% per night - depending on how long I sleep
Frankly, I only used the phone with the latest update so, I have no idea about battery performance before it. Anyways, I'm getting great overnight battery performance, with 3% dropping in 7-8 hours (mobile data, wifi and bluetooth off).
all data and BT off and you're dropping 3%? Turn your phone off and you'll drop 0%
Mediaserver, system and kernel kill my standby. Is it worth factory reset or should I hang out for marshmallow?

I have terrible standby drain, basically the phone never truly sleeps, it is kept awake on a low CPU frequency by Kernel (Android OS).
This is what I see in GSam, and I lose 20% battery over one night (8 hours).
This is why my battery life is somewhat 4 h SOT over 24 hours.
And I think this device should be capable of double that, maybe 7 h SOT over 24 hours.
Anybody else see this king of behaviour ?
I had same problem with my U11+
I reset application preferences and now the smartphone seems to go into deep sleep (Doze)
Had pretty bad standby battery drain recently on my U11+ and did 2 things that seemed to have fixed it.
1) Cleared cache on HTC Doze
2) Ram Boost+ for the first time and then enabled Smart Boost
Did these ard 12hrs ago and standby drain seemed to have improved a lot. Will report in a few days to let you guys know if it's really fixed for me or not.

Is a known issue and HTC is already working on it.
So far, they recommend to reboot the phone every 1-2 days to prevent this.
Reboot everyday !?!
It's a boring solution... and not the solution for my problem.

You have 3,5 hours of SOT from 29% battery ?, and with 11 hours off the carger.
At this rate you will get more that 10 hours of SOT.
This seems almost unreal to me... I don't even have half of that, with medium use...
Please share more... settings, apps, how do you do it ?

I left my phone uncharged with 42 percent of battery, after 8 hours of sleep, it's still 42 percent tho. If I'll rate the battery by 1-10, I'll rate it 10 out of 10!
Left my phone overnight just lying there : in the morning it had shut itself down. Battery = 0

I often forget to turn wi fi off but it has never caused any battery drain. The phone consumers no more than 1% during 8 hours of standby every night. This phone is cheap but it's battery is amazing
---------- Post added at 03:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:25 PM ----------
Those who are facing battery issues can do the following:
1. Disable auto syncing
2. Disable auto wifi scanning
3. Disable "mobile data always on" in developers menu
4. Delete some unneeded apps using adb commands. In particular, RCSService (uceShimService), PAI, Spock, Carrier Services, Feedback and some google bloatware. deleting them via ADB won't affect system partitions and won't affect OTA in any way.

Is that 1% nightly loss with (or without) the measures you describe in 1-5 above?
Since the Pie update, mine is consistently losing about 1% per hour (25% per day) just doing (apparently) nothing (few apps installed to sync). I've tried switching off 4G data, WiFi, Location, but curiously that hardly makes any difference. I'm a bit disappointed in comparison to some older android devices that could go for weeks on standby. I can't make much sense of the percentage numbers in the "battery usage" settings as they don't seem to account for it all by any means. I suppose I can try full flight mode next (all radios off) and see how that affects it.

Sorry to hear you are having this. My phone would consume 4-5% before I did some digging and took the aforementioned measures. Now it only gets 1% (2% on rare occasions) overnight even after updating to Pie. However, SOT has taken a significant hit since the Pie update for to screen brightness being too dim when used below 30%. However there is still no problem with standby mode. Do you have D2W functionality? this might be affecting your battery life
Hello, I'm creating an account in order to give my real-life review of this phone. The previous phones I had were HTC One M8, LG G6.
Standby drain is excellent.
At night, I can loose 1 or 2 percent.
But, I have found that the drain is more important when Wi-Fi is turned on.
It only consumes 1% (7% Maximum when I leave WiFi/4G and location turned on) when on standby overnight. Typical for Android phones for me, which is a little bit disappointing considering that it is equipped with 4 Amperes battery.
To compare with, my previous phone (J500H with Bootleggers ROM) did surprisingly better for this, survived doing nothing for a week from 54% to 36% with WiFi turned on (when I just accidentally left it at home while I'm on vacation) and did drain 0-1% overnight doing nothing.
Phone went from 90% to almost shutdown overnight. Gsam reported netmgrd, ipa_ws prevented deep sleep, and Google Play Services have been using body motion sensor for the past 12 hours. I just posted my phone on eBay.
In the beginning battery life was great, close to 4 days. Three years later, it barely makes from morning (100% charged) to evening. Not even a full day....

I have my new ROG Phone II drained 10%(93% -> 83%) in the first night (9hours). Without battery saving mode, wifi and GPS turned on. Facebook, twitter, whatsapp and telegram running in the background. Is this normal?
Its a lot lol, it should not discharge more than 1-2% over night but you kept everything enabled which is a stupid move.

Mine drained 10% with WiFi, data and Bluetooth off in Super Saving mode. I wonder if its due to poor mobile signal reception inside my home cos if I turn on Airplane mode overnight, I get only 1 to 2% battery reduction.

This problem is not in this phone but others also. We need to wait till google or Asus go and fix it.

Not much to say. Hardly any really
I have the ambient lock screen on. So there's always a clock showing. Went to sleep last night, leaving wifi, data and bluetooth on, at 88%. Woke up this morning after 5 alarms and notifications throughout the night at 86%. Was asleep for around 8 hours.
I just had 8%drain over night (6h). The only thing I changed recently was system update from 44 to 64 WW. That's up from previous 2% over 8h from ww.44
Battery is the worst ever. My Sony Xperia 1 with 3300 mAh battery is better.
Google services finishing off 45% of my battery always. Tried everything nothing works...
My standby drain is back to 1-2% over 8h once I rolled back to WW.35, so if you are having worse standby battery life on WW.64 you might wanna roll back too.
This was not Google services related, I had like 1% max of Google services, there is something weird with WW.64 for some users about that specific drain.

Update 19/02 - I'm using Swipe Pro for Facebook and since then the battery seems to have settled. Getting really good battery life now with not too much standby drain.
The 730G is dreadful on my Xiaomi Mi Note 10 - which has an even bigger, ~5200mAh battery. It performs much worse than my OnePlus 7 Pro with 4000mAh. IMO the chipset (730/730G) is NOT power efficient.

Likely a device specific problem. Notebookcheck test power consumption in idle, sd 730/g phones are within the same range of comparable mid range SOCs. A71 in particular consumes pretty much the same as Pixel 3a for example (Snapdragon 670), more under load but it's quite a bit more powerful as well, consumes less than Galaxy A51 (Exynos 9611), way less than Huawei P30 lite (Kirin 710) and quite a bit less than Oneplus 7 pro as well for that matter. It uses the same modem as sd 710 and 712 so that's not a problem either.
I have 2-4% standby battery drain. But I checked all apps for background battery usage, I don't use facebook app. The only background apps I use are email, sense flip clock and I use greenify on top of that.

I have about 15% battery drain in flight mode during the night. I feel this is a CATASTROPHY! What is causing this??? Is there a FREE app that can find what app is doing this? If I check in the settings, it says all apps has drained 0% during the night..
Hey, am thinking of buying an A71 and was wondering if you still have battery issues please?
I have wifi off and Bluetooth for watch, No FB . I get 1 or 2% loss mainly messenger lite , and my games I don't shut down .. with wifi on an average day its about 40% loss . that with wifi always on , games being played, youtube etc ... Since taking of FB I have noticed a huge difference, as before I was loosing 10/20 % at night and 70% in the day ... now I charge once every 2 days, which is not bad ...

if U use Facebook Messenger , just remove it and test your phone again
if its not gonna helpful , just check what app drain your battery in setting
Same problem. Just got mine and lost 25% overnight. AOD is not even on. I disabled Facebook the instant I took it out of the box so it isn't that. Must be another app but not sure which. All the same apps I was using on my previous device and had no issues like this.
My battery life is horrible on my A71, I come home from work with 10%, on my P20 Pro which has a smaller battery is 65-70%. I have already used package disabler to disable the crap and its still happening. Going to be returning this phone.
Standby Drain on A71 Samsung
I have the phone for 1 week now and the battery I can say is performing very poor. Just got it to 100% then after 1 minute suddenly went to 99% and after 5 mins suddenly went to 98% just on standby mode. Can anyone please explain me why this is happening?
My device is always optimized (no background processes running). Every app (even the useful ones) I have put to sleep, which means I'm sacrificing on not getting the notifications when the internet is connected as those those apps are put to sleep but I did it just to put my battery on right track. Still no significant benefit.
Standby drain is the biggest issue I'm facing. Early 2% drops from 100% for no reason at all. At night time, I see at least 3% drop in 4 to 5 hours standby with wifi off and zero brightness and dark mode on and always-on display disabled, battery saving mode on and no app running in the background.
I'm having 1% battery drop every 10 mins for just reading comments on XDA developer or GSMArena with brightness to 0%, no extra app working in background, have put all the apps to sleep when not in use, no multimedia use, always-on display disabled, dark mode on, battery saving mode on. So, when I'm using Chrome, I'm only using Chrome. When I'm watching Youtube videos on app with 20% brightness and 60% volume, I'm having 1% drop every 7 to 8 mins. I see variability between each % drop. Like for example, sometimes it drops 1% at 4 mins interval and after that it will take 8 mins to drop a percent.
I have never been so confused in terms of battery life before. Someone from Samsung should at least come forward and explain to us what is going on.
From the reviews, the new updates doesn't have much to offer in terms of battery life. I haven't gotten the update yet.

Had the same issue and no matter what I did couldn’t fix it. I turned this off turned that off, lowered this, reduced that. In the end I gave up and returned it. Shouldn’t be that much of an effort but then it always seems to be with Samsung. Huawei for example it’s just ready to go and works flawlessly out of the box. For a phone that had 4500mah battery it performs nothing like it. I bought the new iPhone SE, it’s battery is tiny 1800mah or something and it lasts longer than the A71.
47% overnight, with no use. It's my second A71. The first, the battery seemed normal. But I did not observe this detail carefully. I changed it the first time due to the infamous discoloration defect of the screen on a gray background with low brightness. Now the second, in addition to the same discoloration defect of the screen, the battery does not last! I went to sleep, the battery at 47%. Wifi off. Mobile data off. GPS off. Bluetooth turned off. Vibration off. Always on Display off. NFC Off. Sim card removed. Only Whatsapp running in the background. All other apps have been configured to be suspended in the background. Approximately 8 hours later, without any use, the battery has zeroed. I have a Samsung Galaxy A7 2017, which has 3 years of use and a 3600MAh battery worn by hundreds of charge cycles, and yet its battery is WELL better than the Galaxy A71, which has 4500MAh and a few days of use. If a new cell phone discharges at this rate, imagine after about 2 years of use. You will need to recharge every hour. Turning the adaptive battery on or off for me made no difference. During normal use, it discharges quickly, but the problem is much more evident at night, when the device is not in use. It seems to drain as much energy in idle mode as in normal use.
The quality of Samsung's products is dropping every day. 3 years ago, you could buy an intermediary made of metal and glass. Protection IP68, OIS and Gorilla Glass 4. Today, the devices that cost almost the same as the high end, are all made of plastic. Without IP68. Gorilla Glass 3 (obsolete technology from 2013), without OIS, and batteries that although bigger, last less. Quality decreases and price increases. It is unfortunate.

I have the 730G 8GB ram variant on my A71 (This is the standard in the PH) and my phone lasts for 2 days with social media and youtube usage. OST is between 6-7 hours so no issues with the chip itself, the phone software is probably not optimized properly with the Mi Note 10.

So what's happening to the other people in this thread? Is it a case of just too many bad apples (bad/broken devices) or... ?

I think we need to put things into context first. None of them talked about what apps they had running, what settings they used, etc. Also, the other dude talked about the Huawei when that phone is known to aggressively kill apps very quickly in the background to save battery as a default. You can also do that with Sammy's but you need to activate it first.
As for my phone, it's set on its default out of the box-setting which is optimized if that at all matters.

I think we also need to look at which carriers are having issues. I have an open line international variant and I've had none of the issues in this thread.

If you can find an open line (not tied to any carrier) international variant, it doesn't have any issues.

Mine was a bit power hungry at first 6 months ago
Now that i shut off and tried to kill all processes but active ones my battery is AMAZING!
So to compare I read your post last night at around 11 ish to midnight topped off the phone to 94%, and it dropped to 93% just before i went to sleep
killed all the processes with built in battery device care and also greenify.
woke up today at 8:30am and the batter was at 90% and dropped to 89% after a min of use.
So 3-4% over eight or nine hours.... I"m pretty happy with that.
