Hello, kinda new here...at least I haven't posted since my Xperia Play. However I own an Xperia XZ2 (H8276) Android 9, 64GB. I'm having two issues, one if which is one that seems to plaque Sony phones.
1). The Microphone for Xperia Diagnostics / Testing doesn't work during the test. Which it used to. However the microphone during calls via loudspeaker work. Google is touch and go. However, the in-call mic doesn't always work. Sometimes it'll work when I call. Sometimes it'll work when someone calls me. Then it doesn't. Almost seems random. I've tried uninstalling apps, app permissions, restore, app updates, etc etc. And it's a pain. I've even tried stupid things like disable Goggle Assistant, turn Bluetooth off prior, etc etc. IDK if it matters but I do have my Sony SmartWatch 2 paired to it (I assume at all times), and also a PC, PS3 Earpiece, X 2 speakers, ontop of the watch. However they're not always connected.
2). I cannot get the Sony Messaging (Xperia) base app to install now. It won't show up on Google play, and some APKs (whether upgraded or downgraded version) will either just say "not installed" or will keep crashing. It'll even give the "Not Responding" Window however it's only up for 1/100 a second. Not fast enough to select "App Info" or "Close App". Tho one time It did allow it and did nothing but continously crashing.
3). I also cannot find how to backup my device either via Xperia Companion (PC/Mobile). You used to be able to hook it up, select restore and it'll save a (X) GB .dll file. However upon clicking on the link it says something like "Android 10 users click here as there's a new method". Even tho I don't have an Android 10, it's Android 9, and the link take you to their site, and only has 5 phones listed (Xperia 1, and all the newest ones thereafter).
IDK whether this was the right place to ask however I don't know where else to ask as no one seems to know not even Sony themselves. Not to mention from my personal experience this forum site seems to have the most intelligent in-depth knowledgeable ppl around. So hopefully someone can help especially with the mic thing. I don't wanna have to use an Earpiece or Headphones to make private calls... It's a pain.

Hi, ever since I got my G928T I've been having an extremely strange problem where video and audio will not play (regardless of source). This means nothing out of the speakers , and in the case of YouTube, the video being frozen on the first frame.
I've done a factory firmware reset through Kies, and am now rooted running the new custom kernel released a few days ago. I also converted /system, /data, and /cache to f2fs.
However, regardless of what I do, the problem persists.
The only way I've been able to do anything about this problem is by placing a phone call and then ending it. I have no idea why, but this will always fix the audio and sometimes the video for a short period of time.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? The times when the phone call doesn't fix it are extremely annoying; I practically run my life on my phone and the inability to play media isn't a good thing.
Thanks!
A little more detail with the calling: every single time I want to play a different YouTube video, I have to open the dialer, place a call, and go back to YouTube for the video go begin playback.
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm still trying to find a solutuon!
I dont know i mean trying to find the answer does anyone know this plz give the answer ok
Furthermore, this issue isn't solely audio and video, it's every single sound throughout the OS (including keyboard clicks and tap sounds).
Very odd, I really don't know what to do :/
MAY HAVE FOUND A FIX!! I disabled AdaptSound and SoundAlive with Titanium Backup and I've yet to experience any issues.
This may be what we need!
Let me know if it works for you guys!
I also installed Viper4Audio, and used force enable for the super high audio quality driver.
EDIT: Does not seem to always work; instances of failure have still ocurred
They do, however, seem to be somewhat less frequent...
Good luck everyone!
So a bit more info: ever since installing Viper and disabling said apps via Titanium Backup, I find that most of the time I simply need to press the lock button when the song audio/video isn't working and that'll fix it. I have no idea why turning the screen off would make the phone to play the sound, but that's where I'm at now..
Hello XDA,
I recently got my hands on an S5 (SM-G900F) and it seems better than my Nexus 5, so I want to make it my main phone. As I do with all my phones, I immediately removed the vendor's bloatware/spyware by rooting and installing some custom ROM. This time I started with CM12.1, which seemed to be OK based on various comments here and reviews online.
However, I've run into several serious problems.
1.) Erratic Bluetooth behavior:
When paired with my car audio system, there are frequent pauses and "static" noises. Also, sometimes, when it pairs with the car, I can control the music via the car's navigation buttons but the music plays through the phone's speakers (!?!?). One more annoying issue: it pairs but sometimes wont start the music player, no matter how many times I press the "Play/Next" button on the car system.
2.) Wi-Fi Issues:
No matter which Wi-Fi I connect to, after a couple of hours I get the warning icon and I cannot access the internet (and it won't even switch to mobile data), so I miss important stuff without realizing. This is fixed by simply turning the Wi-Fi off and on again but, still, it's a show stopper.
3.) Random vibration:
I don't understand why the S5 just randomly vibrates in my pocket or why it vibrates and the screen turns on whenever I move it. I've found it unlocked and with random apps open, many times, after taking it out of my pocket...
4.) Bad Camera app
The Camera app that came with CM12.1 cannot take a single good picture; they're all blurry. It seems to have a problem with auto-focus. I had to install Snap Camera to take pics.
Since I originally installed CM12.1 based on positive feedback here on XDA, I would like to be a bit more cautious this time and ask people with more hands-on experience with the S5 to suggest a more stable ROM for me. I don't have any particular preferences. Anything that can run Nova Launcher is fine.
Thank you very much for your help

Hello, first time posting on XDA.
Recently bought a G900F aswell, rooted and flashed straight away the latest build of CM 12.1. Glad to see someone with the same issues as me.
Starting with the camera, I also notice the blur and the extreme auto focus problem. Good to know that others have it because I didn't even try it on stock so I was worried it was a hardware problem, going to give it a try on it or on another ROM to see the difference. I had a P970 and it also had camera problems initially with CM so I'm guessing it's normal for klte since there are only a few nightlies out yet.
The random vibrations are a thing, the phone heats sometimes and the battery autonomy isn't the best.
As for ROM's I'm going to start with SIXPERIENCE 7.0 because CM isn't kinda giving it to me yet, but I'd gladly hear which ones you guys recommend.
Stock ROMs are incredibly stable and smooth with a new launcher like Nova
Hello all. I was a member of this site between the times of the tmobile dash-note 2 eras and i havent done much modding since. I may have to start back after getting this phone. I recently upgraded from the LG g2 and besides the better hardware it seems that the software is a downgrade in terms of over customization and getting the most out of this hardware. I just want to know if there's a way to fix any of these problems or if I should root and if so what should I go with..
1. Get front flash to work while video chatting or to use phone as lighted mirror;without having to record video. ( I always visualized an ad of a chick using the moto x as a mirror or a soldier video chatting his family in a poorly lit space)
2. Pair multiple Bluetooth devices. My LG g2 could pair my pebble time steel and two other devices. One could be paired to play media and the other would be set for calls only and they were remembered.
3. Custom alarm tones. I thought the pure meant that there wouldn't be any restrictions and everything would be customizable like the good windows phones.
I'm sure these problems have been solved but I couldn't find it by searching the forums so maybe someone could point me to the best mod for this phone please?
I have had this phone for more than 4 months now, and I have 2 problems with it (both software), which OnePlus failed to fix over several updates, even though they are aware of these problems.
My first problem is the panorama mode. This phone makes just the worst panoramas. My hands are a little shaky, and the pictures that come out are completely unacceptable (even though it doesn't have ois) for a "flagship killer". I had a Nexus 5X before, which made almost always perfect panoramas with a much worse camera. I feel like the devs put the panorama mode in the camera just so that it has the feature, but didn't spend any time on the algorithm.
My second problem, which is the bigger one is about bluetooth. First of all, the phone had/has a weird bug where if you turn on the bluetooth then go to the bluetooth menu to choose which device you want to connect to (either by long pressing the bt icon in the notification bar or from the settings app), the ui would freeze and you have to wait a half-a-minute or so, for the ui manager to restart (in older versions of oos, the phone itself restarted). Now in 5.1.1 it doesn't do this as often as it used to, but it still happens. The second issue with bluetooth is connectivity. Sometimes when I have my headset turned on and I turn on bluetooth on the phone it connects right away (like it should) and I am happy.
Other times (most of the time actually) I have to manually select which device I want to connect to (bringing us back to freezing), and even then it still takes a couple tries for the phone to succesfully connect.
So these are my 2 issues with this phone, I hope they will get fixed soon. I feel like the dev team is always working on the next phone after release, and they don't spend anywhere near enough man-hours on released device support.
Other than these, I'm loving this device, it's fast, has great battery life and does everything well.
Do you have these bugs, do they bother you or do you have any other problems with the phone you would like to share?

Yes, I have, I clean installed 5.1.0. I read about both problems on the OnePlus forums, so I guess it's not just me. But I can try when I have some time to reinstall the phone. Btw, I am running oos 5.1.1 rooted, nothing else, so I don't think that is the problem.

Dont know about the panaroma mode but i face no issues like you mentioned regarding Bluetooth.
Try flashing an OOS based custom rom and see how that treats you.
my only main issue with this phone is the oil painting effect.

U tried this?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.seveilith.oxygen.slider
Things I am not comfortable with are
1). Notification dropdown works even on lock-screen.
2). you can power off the device from Lock-screen.
Both are security concerns as someone can turn wi-fi and data off or power down the device if found or stolen.

EDIT: Title edit as this is literally a unusable level problem.
EDIT: Entire body of text to simplify
Lineage OS 17 on S5neo / sm-g903f
Rom version: Lineage for MicroG
Root: Magisk (confirmed install)
Problem: Mic too quiet for use in all instances (calls, record ect)
Issue: Stock Samsung Values don't work on modern Andriod releases, Same issue expressed in lineage 16. (lots of posts online)
Solution: Modify values in system/vendor/etc/mixer_paths_0.xml
My problem:
I cant figure out how to patch the file. Iv googled or weeks, used various programs, and even tried modifying other patches as a last ditch attempt.
If anyone can help me with a patch script, I will work hard to make every reference to mic gain in mixer_paths_0.xml work as close to stock as possible and share the values & script back with the community and devs.
(I have high incentive as this is my only phone)
Thanks
Bump.
If some one can tell me how to/make a simple install script to replace/patch the mixer_paths_0.xml please help me out.
Once I have the ability to patch the file I will spend extended time to find the perfect values and share them back with the community. (This is my only phone so I have the incentive lol)
I will also fix the speaker volume with playback.
This is also really quiet from stock (fine in calls though)
To use Lineage on an S5 Neo you need to cup the phone to your mouth like your telling it a secret lol. I cant take calls in public.
Mic levels on every part of the phone is way too low., not just calls. Worked perfectly when stock.
I think there was a big change in how android handles the mic (re-worked code ect), meaning that using the Samsung stock values no longer works on modern android releases. (I say this because I seen people arguing about it in posts, the stock values just do not work)
I finally found my way.
Go to Mixplorer, select settings>more settings>Allow Root
Now you can manually edit in the values one by one.
I guess you could also hot swap for a file pre-edited on PC.
But so far nothing has changed, even though the values are saving.
Im literally at the point where Im going balls to the wall and pulling the values higher and higher.
Nothing works.
Lineage has been a huge waste of time an energy.
Its nothing but high intense hiss and bugger all voice.
Funny how some one can release something that completely destroys the main function... and then not do anything about it for 3 whole consecutive versions.
Tons of people reporting this online, zero solutions.
Please, some one must be able to help.
I just tested out my phone on the latest official LineageOS build (lineage-17.1-20210228-nightly-s5neolte-signed) and it seems fine.
This thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...c-gain-and-a-little-speaker-gain-too.3491483/ addresses the same issue, and is much more active.
Same problem here.
Flashed LOS 17.1 on Samsung S5 Neo (SM-903F) along with gapps (full) + rooted the device with magisk (and finished magisk installation on OS) . Everything works smoothly except calls - no matter who I call, people on the other side complain on low call quality from my side (even though I can hear them perfectly), some say even that voice quality is low they ask me if I "ductaped" my phone. Sometimes during talks other people suddenly tell me they cannot hear me as if I was fading away. Also microphone sensitivity is too low during video recording and while using voice recorder - on all instances.
I installed micgain-higher mod (posted here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...c-gain-and-a-little-speaker-gain-too.3491483/ ) with TWRP, wiped dalvik/cache rebooted system. No change with mic so far.
Can someone please help with this issue? I've searched web for past two weeks and haven't found any solution at all regarding this particular model.
