Hey guys,
So I am at a point where my zte axon 7 won't boot past the Linux tux penguin. It'll show it, then the screen will go blank and the led will flash red 3 times and seems like it turns itself off (blank screen).
I can't get into the fastboot menu anymore. I can get into TWRP 3.2.1-0 though.
Anyone got any ideas to bring it back to life?
Thank you. If I work it out I'll comment back. Spent about 5 hours trying to get it going thus far.
Worked it out
Okay after many hours of fun....
Got it going
Had to flash the Full EDL and I changed the bootloader to one of the custom ones from here. When I put the fastboot image from the axon7toolkit, it was actually causing the loops. So I don't have that installed but I still have an unlocked bootloader. Anyway, got the full edl installed, then went to twrp, used that party vendor image app thing, rebooted into TWRP, used the universal bootstack, 2017g modem, lineage 17. 1 Android 10, gapps nano for Android 10. I rebooted, lineage loaded I was so excited, then bam, password apparently exists. So I flashed Magisk on and did the reset data partition in twrp and rebooted. It worked happy days. I now have an axon 7 2017g on lineage 17.1 (android 10) happy days. All the info is across the forum posts, just gotta read a lot of garbage comments to find it. Thanks past and future axon 7 owners.

Hi,
I currently restored my AXON A2017G to factory setting but when it loads it won't pass the WiFi connection page.
When it loads after the welcome page, it show the SIM part..after clicking next it shows the WiFi details page after entering my details and I click next it would show "just a sec" and return me back to the WiFi details page.
Kindly help with how I can resolve this.
Thanks

I bought 2nd hand phone for app testing. I went ahead to use TWRP for rooting purpose. To my dismay, Reboot --> System never works. Each time, the phone keeps going into Recovery mode which showed me TWRP console. I followed all instructions here, reddit and others like but in vain.
Finally, I just flashed into Android 6 factory image for Nexus 6P. Then I booted again to TWRP and installed Magisk. This worked.
Hope it helps someone.
PS. I dont need latest Andriod for my purpose.
Yap looks like something went wrong with your operating system because of TWRP.
Oh well at least everything works fine now.
Gosh, I sure hope this works for me. My bootloader is unlocked and I can get into my twrp recovery. Just need to find a stock image that will flash and boot. Stuck on the Google screen and don't want to be running on only 4 cores if I can help it. Tried Nexus OS but says it only works for angler and my device is "____." I guess it can't identify it. First I'll flash magisk, then the factory 8, 7, or 6 image if available. What's a good link to those images? Anyone ?
Managed to brick my A1. The only screen its able to go to is either fastbook, or recovery. And even then, doesn't always necessarily boot into recovery, have to plug into computer and go into command prompt (fastboot boot oreo_3.2.2_recovery.img) to get it into TWRP.
Currently can't seem to flash *any* roms, I have a stock rom ("tissot_100108_stock" cant remember where i got it from). Which successfully flashes, but then on reboot gets stuck on the Android One screen. Longest i have waited before giving up is an hour. Even when i flash this rom and reboot, i get a message on TWRP saying "No OS installed"
Tried doing this: [wont let me post link] (MiFlash) method and got an error, basically does not work.
Super frustrated, at my wits end, would just like to flash stock rom and sell this thing or let it sit in a drawer at this point. Thanks in advance.
same problem here...
I have the exact same issue and also came here for that to ask for help.
Xiaomi Mi A1 was running 8.1 OTA updated and then I tried to flash Lineage, but it did not work. I wiped my phone and now it can't install anything, not via TWRP nor with Mi Flash.
I hope we can find a solution.

hopefully! i posted on the xiaomi subreddit but no help. i was on 8.0 when i started this whole misadventure.
I got somewhere, I think.
I went into TWRP, switched from B to A booting. It then starts Android but gets stuck in the boot screen of Android one with the colored bar.
I then tried MiFlash again, going directly to the folder which containts the .bat files. It started flashing it finally.
I am back to a working system.
Let me know if it works for you.
you guys should try flashing the latest stock rom 8.1 July running the bat file of your choice located in the factory image through fastboot
the different custom recoveries and miflash are sometimes buggy
run the script directly on fastboot

Hi,
I think I have screwed up big time. I have been using my OnePlus 5 with LineageOS and ElementalX but I got lazy and haven't upgraded my LineageOS build since May 2018. I downloaded the latest TWRP 3.2.3 (which apparently has a bug where you can't decrypt the data partition, so I had to download an older version of TWRP which did work fine). I downloaded and flashed OOS 5.1.5 firmware + radio from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76943628&postcount=8 in order to be able to flash LineageOS as it was failing with an error 7 in TWRP which apparently has to do with treble support or something. However, now that I have flashed that firmware, I am unable to enter the bootloader or recovery with the normal volume keys and holding down the power button and volume up or holding down the power button and volume down does not work either. Furthermore, my current version of LineageOS from may 2018 actually has a regression that prevents me from being able to reboot from the OS into the recovery or bootloader: https://jira.lineageos.org/browse/REGRESSION-1930 - I was wondering why I had that issue for a long time, never really looked it up until tonight.
Luckily I do have my entire applications backed up with TitaniumBackup, so that is something at least (thank god for backups).
Do I need to RMA my phone? Does anyone know if OnePlus offers advanced RMAs? Will they even offer an RMA for my device knowing how rooted etc it is or am I just completely out of luck?
I feel so stupid, but this was a string of multiple instances of bad luck all combining into one major problem... I can erase all data (factory reset) in LineageOS as I am able to boot into LineageOS and I have full access to ADB, but as I cannot reboot to my bootloader or recovery, I have no access to fastboot.
Does anyone have any ideas of things I can try? I really don't like the idea of not having access to bootloader and recovery... I tried asking for instructions a couple weeks ago on how to upgrade to the latest LineageOS from an older build on LineageOS on the ElementalX thread but I did not get a response there so I decided to try it today, how hard could it be, right? What a mistake this was...
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
So I went to download and install the latest version of LineageOS from the live running install of LineageOS in the updates menu and then I rebooted my phone manually (since it got stuck at the cyan light as usual because of the regression), tried rebooting manually into recovery and it worked for some reason whereas booting manually into recovery was not working before, it finished flashing the LineageOS and even restored Magisk with a su.d script or whatever. I can now reboot from my ROM into recovery and bootloader. Double dumb luck got me into this situation and even more dumb luck got me out of it.
So, I guess this thread can be closed now.
Hi,
I've done countless steps and watched a ton of videos today but still can't answer this and it feels like I'm missing something simple.
I received my xiaomi 9t today and quickly unlocked the bootloader (no wait time possibly because I had a Mi8 before hand so I already had an account). I've since installed TWRP as well as tried OrangeFox Recovery and still can't get any custom roms to work, it goes directly to the fastboot screen. I can get back into TWRP and flash xiaomi.eu rom, no issue but as soon as I go to a custom rom I get fastboot.
I've flashed my Mi 8 countless times but I can't seem to get this to go. I've tried making sure the mounts were correct, I've flashed a disable forced encryption thing that I saw on some youtube videos and still nothing works.
Thanks in advance,
Joe

Hello, what OrangeFox version did you install?
You should try with R10.1_1 if you are using latest one.
If your phone is working with xiaomi.eu ROMs..., do you know xiaomi.eu ROMs are custom ROMs?
You generally only have to "Format Data" in TWRP before flashing another ROM (stock or custom).
Good luck!
Hi,
Thank you for the reply. I now have OrangeFox R10.1_1 installed. sorry I should've said other custom roms aren't working xiaomi.eu seems to be fine for some reason.
I just installed OrangeFox, reflashed xiaomi.eu and booted, worked fine. Then I went back, formatted data, rebooted back to recovery, flashed AOSPextended and gapps pico. Rebooted to system and it went to the fastboot screen again. I noticed it says during the AOSP install that "Root Status: Disabled" could that be a problem?
Thanks again for your help.

Use the official TWRP.
You should install latest stable xiaomi.eu rom or install latest China rom through MI flash, you need latest vendor partition for latest custom roms to boot properly.

I installed the latest Global Rom 11.0.5. via OrangeFox. I couldn't get it to go with Mi Flash. Not sure how to create the flash_all.bat and where to get all the files from. Is that the same? What are the steps from here?
Thank you
The same exact issue I am facing. Tried multiple custom roms and everything failed to boot only resulting in bricked or error. Even my previous budget phone redmi 3s was much better than this.
Let's get this out of the way. I don't have much experience flashing ROMs. I've done it on a few phones, but I can't say I really understood what I was doing. I'm just good at following directions. So, I know about enough to get into trouble.
And ...I've gotten into trouble. My goal is to install LineageOS on my brother's Essential Phone. Based on directions I found here, I determined the active slot was b, so I installed TWRP on slot a. TWRP worked in recovery, but without touch. I then flashed twrp-3.2.3-0-mata.img to the non-active slot. Lastly, I sideloaded twrp-installer-mata-3.2.3-0.zip. I then changed the active slot back to b and rebooted. It now boots only to the bootloader and not to the OS. No matter what option I select--Start, Bootloader, Recovery--it reboots to the bootloader.
Any help to get out of this would be greatly appreciated.
Lineage can be installed more easily using Lineage's own Recovery rather than using TWRP. The Lineage Recovery is a pre-built replacement for your boot.img file.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the suggestion. I had actually already tried that. That's when I got desperate and tried generic TWRP. When I try to flash the Lineage recovery image I get a "No such partition" error, no matter which partition is active. I read somewhere that the flash boot_[letter] command might work, but I get "Couldn't parse partition size '0x'.

Try:
Fastboot flash:raw boot_slot recovery.img
So, I found a solution. In order to overcome the errors I was getting, I had to use the raw command. So it was fastboot flash:raw boot [image file]. Once Lineage recovery was installed, I could boot to recovery and sideload Lineage.

I guess our replies crossed. At any rate, the raw command did the trick. Thanks for your help.
I'm having the same problem, and the raw command doesn't seem to help. Trying to install twrp causes it to be stuck in the bootloader. I somehow was able to install the lineage recovery, then to install the lineage OS. Because I am thinking of trying other ROMs, I decided to go back to trying the TWRP install. Now everything seems broken. When I use the a slot (where I installed TWRP), I'm stuck in the bootloader. When I shift to the b slot, I'm stuck on the Lineage splash page.
(By the way, while I was in the Lineage recovery at some point in the middle of all this, I also sideloaded the TWRP install zip.)
I've tried flashing the TWRP numerous times, and it always seems to work, but the result still is the same.
Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: I was able to get out of the loop by reflashing the Lineage Recovery, booting into that recovery, then doing a factory wipe. I was able to boot into Lineage. But why can't I successfully install TWRP? Or, I guess, alternately, is it possible to use the Lineage Recovery to flash different ROMs? (Sorry if this goes beyond the scope of the original question.)
Is Lineage using an Android 10 security update after January? January is the last update for Android 10 that TWRP worked with. Once Essential went belly up the TWRP devs just stopped updating when it broke with February security update. Anyway, I just thought I would mention it.

I installed Lineageos directly on the february android stock version. (which is the last one from Essential)
Simply by following the tutorial on the LineageOS website.
Everything worked the first time.
So there is no need to switch back to the January android stock version. The image recovery provided by Lineage works very well.
And for your information LineageOS is updated almost every Monday.
Moreover the developers of the TWRP are not the developers of Essential. Company which closed at the end of February.

I'm of two minds; one is just to go with something stock android-ish, which leads me to Evolution X or Pixel Experience. The other is to cut myself from Google entirely, which leads me to /e/. I'm also looking at Paranoid, just because it looks like it's stable. Any thoughts on any of those?
I had updated Essential to the February update; would that be why TWRP would not successfully install on my phone?
Would that still be true if I had flashed Lineage?

Paranoid Android: What I heard is VoLTE broken, if you enable it, SMS/MMS might not work properly.
Evolution: No update in Android 10 since August, not sure they contine to support Essential phone for Android 11
Pixel Experience: I don't think they Anroid 10 for Essential phone, only official Anroid 9 which is too old
TWRP issue: You need to go back to Jan stock rom before going to any rom if you just flashed LOS
What current stable rom with Nov security update: I'm using crDroid 6.12 (unofficial release but from XDA reliable source)
