When I use a keyboard it's displayed on top of a bar with two icons, one for hiding the keyboard the other to switch keyboards... How to get rid of it?
I'm not sure what bar are you talking about. And what keyboard do u use. I use Gboard and there's nothing under the keyboard. Or try attaching a screenshot here.

Are you on a web browser ?
This;
I'm not seeing that bar on Gboard, but I'm on beta tester program, so it could be fixed but not released yet.

Then if you remove the pill, does the bar disappears ?
Hide full screen indicator?
In miui 12 theres an option to hide, Settings --> Display --> At the bottom, full screen display --> Hide full screen indicator. Idk if this is your problem xd.
Disable all other keyboards but the one you are using.

I like immersive mode and find it much easier to type when in it but the problem is swiping up to make the navbar appear often inputs text that persists when I reopen whichever app I'm in.
Just wondering if there's a way to have a button on the keyboard that either functions as a navbar within the keyboard, toggles the appearance of the status bar/navbar akin to a swipe down or up from the screen edge or simply minimises the keyboard.
Not very interested in using 3rd party keyboards. I like the look and feel of stock/AOSP keyboard so would prefer to keep it for the moment.
Thanks.
When does the keyboard go into full screen mode? I've never seen this happen and always retain nav button functionality. Couldn't you just slide from the top as usual?

I have tasker enable immersive mode for me in some apps. The top of the screen is always so far away. Something at the bottom would be nice.
Maybe do expanded desktop through the power button and back to normal after using the keyboard

You need to download Secure Settings. The toggle you need is 'Expand Desktop'. It's easy to just list a load of apps that will toggle this.
Lastly you need to add an exit task to disable immersive mode.
Download this app.. Install & follow the adb command to allow secure access for the app .. After that.. Enable the immersive tab... And add it to your quick settings.. BAM.. ENJOY THE FULL 6.2 screen.. Also.. Go premium.. It's well worth it!!

The immersive mode works well but is there a way to only hide the navigation bar?
Some of the other apps that I tried disables other apps that help with navigation like All in one gesture, etc when the navigation bar is hidden.
Here is the link for those who need it
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.leedroid.shortcutter&hl=en
Edit: Spoke too early. Press and hold gives you the options.
This is a really good app.
Going to purchase it just to show the support.
This is one of the reasons I always rooted phones.. Next is to have GMD gestures but there are alternatives that work ok.
What's the immersive mode like? Can anyone post a screenshot please?

Immersive mode is the one that does not have task bar or navigation bar.
All apps work in total full screen.
Just what the doctor ordered. Good stuff, went premium. Thanks!

This looks super handy. One question, please: in immersive mode, does the navigation bar temporarily reappear if you tap on the screen?

If u swipe up from the lower edge of the screen it will re appear for a couple of seconds and then goes away.
I have not used the navigation bar for the last 3 to 4 years.. Felt like a wasted space... Always used Gmd gesture control app. But that app is only for rooted devices.
For now I am using all in one gestures. Works quite well.
The screen shot shows the gestures that I have configured
Why not turn on immersive mode using adb? No apps required.

Or you can set it on a per app basis: https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-enable-system-wide-immersive-mode-without-root/
Ive been looking for a way but as everyone know, root is the only way to do it at the mom.
So is someone able to update it, or even come up with a new apk.

Anybody know who the dev was for the 0pt.navbar so we could reach out to them possibly?

it's @tytydraco, but he himself still can't make one for Oreo, i don't think it will ever be like 0pt.navbar, at least without root.

I dont with my setup? Theres only ever a black bar when the keyboard pops up. The rest of the time there is zero navbar and I just use gestures. I barely notice I don't have a navbar anymore.

You can adjust the height via the adb. Work perfectly with my swipe gestures. And no useless bar under the keyboard.

Yes you can do it
Just download fluid navigation from play store and through adb make it work. Search google for more
Yes, there are some apps in the playstore that can hide navigation bar. I tested this when I was trying the gesture navbar from xda. Changed back after a day as I am not used to it.
Its about hiding not changing soft button (nav bar)
Through adb you can hide the nav bar without unlocking bootloader or root privileges.
Install system ui tuner. It has that option
Mildly infuriating me that I've got my icons perfect size & using the LineX icon pack but whenever I go on to the recents page I have the standard icons which are also huge, any ideas?
It was a sore eye for me to see different sizes too so I turned off suggested apps, go to the 3 dots menu then settings from the recent page.
