Are Xiaomi Redmi 2 & Xiaomi Mi 2 the same device??

Hello,
I am using a Xiaomi Redmi 2 device (Qualcomm Snapdragon 410)(wt88047).Is it the same as Xiaomi Mi 2??
And has there any Nougat Rom come out for the Xiaomi Redmi 2??? Will the AOSP unofficial nougat rom for Xiaomi Mi 2 work on Xiaomi Redmi 2??

they are NOT the same. MI2 was the first xiaomi smartphone. the MI series is the flagship series.

Both are not the same devices. The Xiaomi Mi 2 and Xiaomi Redmi 2 are both different smartphone. Also, you cannot install the Unofficial AOSP based Nougat ROM made for Mi 2 smartphone on Redmi 2. Installing the ROM of other Device may soft-brick your device.
There is no Nougat Based ROM is available for Redmi 2, but there is Marshmallow based ROM available for Redmi 2. Check out the XDA Forum for CM13 ROM for Redmi 2/2A/Prime.

Nougat ROM for Redmi 2/prime is there , Yes , the Work has begun .. Contact Premaca On XDA to know more and Visit his Tesla ROM thread (around page 57 or more) , this is a Work in Progress .. still not Publicly Available , but his Promise Is to deliver it as soon as It gets a Working Environment...

Nougat update for MTK variant?

Hi guys
Any news about the Nougat update for the Redmi Note 4 MediaTek variant? Is this phone even planned to receive it? I mean it's still a new phone and it's weird for it to be abandoned by Xiaomi so quickly, the Snapdragon version which came out way after the MTK version has already Android 7. Please share with us any information you have about this subject

No-one here could possibly tell you...only Xiaomi knows that...
We willingly purchased this device with Android 6.0 only in the knowledge that it will be updated regularly with bug fixes & security updates etc & anything more than that is a bonus.

Same situation with RMN2/3 MTK version (Helio X10) when they released device with Android 5.0.2 and stuck forever with it, while RMN3 SD version already updated to Android 7.0 (there is screenshots of beta MIUI8 with Android N).
Because Qualcomm always released kernel source code so community developer can help build latest Android version, while Mediatek doesn't release any source code and if manufacturer want to upgrade they device to new Android version, they must pay a huge money for Mediatek (Mediatek keep kernel source code, you must ask them upgrade these kernel source code while Qualcomm do it for free) .

It's still based on 6.0 marshmallow for Note 4 MTK model, no nougat for us.

Hate to burst your bubble but that Nougat update is referring to Mi5 only.
You have to be careful & read between the lines with the releases.

I got this info from the miui forum. First thread, Miui 8.2 is based on Android nougat. Second thread, its coming to redmi note 4 mtk (and snap dragon and a list of devices) after Feb 20th. Well, I certainly hope its true and keep our fingers crossed

Try to Google search the article to confirm then check the official miui forum for the thread on which devices will receive miui 8.2. I got it from the miui forum app. Same as all mtk note 4 users, I'm also hoping to receive Nougat on my redmi note 4 mtk. Let's all keep fingers crossed that it will be released in a few months time as indicated on the miui forum.

Further confirmation from xiaomininja.com - "MIUI 8.2 Global Stable ROM Starts Rolling Out Today" by Estrella Starr.
The 8.2 china stable ROM will be released tomorrow, refer to excerpts below. The china note 4 is mtk, while the 4X is snapdragon. That means the MTK kernel source for the Helio X20 has been made available to Xiaomi.
"....Aside MIUI 8.2 Global Stable ROM, the company will also roll out the MIUI 8.2 China Stable ROM will be released for public tomorrow as well...."

The source on MIUI forum doesn't mention anything that MIUI 8.2 will based on Android Nougat, just some junk website add something to their title to make it like an interesting news for get more traffic lol

no. because the device tree is still missing. without device tree = no port & no working custom rom

Nikel (Redmi Note 4) will never get a working Nougat ROM. Instead of complaining, you should simply stop buying phones with MTK. They never receive Android upgrades or custom ROMs.

Android N or Marshmallow?

Marshmallow....because....closed beta of Android N(MIUI 8) for Mi5s was released in 16.5.17....and is very unstable EVEN for beta dev Miui....i think weekly N rom for mi5s will be released in several weeks...

I have tried the leaked 7.5.15 and worked great. Only issue for me was not getting gapps to work. Thats the only reason for me back on 7.5.11 android 6

Project Treble & 2018 Xiaomi Flagships - Mi 7 & Mi Mix 2S.

Are you looking forward to the 2018 flagship phones from Xiaomi - Mi 7 & Mi Mix 2S, especially since Project Treble will allow for ease of custom rom development ?

I probably won't upgrade my MI6 to MI7 but for other reasons. I don't like capacitive buttons and fingerprint sensors to be desapeared from front side.
Project Trebble is a great idea and is mandatory from factory Oreo versions. It will be easer to upgrade Android versions, even with MIUI.
I'm not so sure about kernel sources liberating, we have to wait more every time a new smartphone has been released from Xiaomi. I hope dev work will be easer to do with Project Trebble, and we get more stable custom ROM's.

Well, mi6 is my last xiaomi phone.
Without kernel sources treble is not comprehensive resolution.
I will buy phone from company which provide better developer support. Probably OP but I will also take a look what Huawei will do

Mi Globe ROM on Redmi note 7

Hey is anyone using mi globe rom for their redmi note 7 or was using it? If so I'd appreciate to read your opinions about this rom on the rn7. Ive used the globe rom for rn3 for 2 years and I loved it. Is the rom for rn7 as stable as it was for rn3?

I would also like to switch from crDroid 6.3 to mi-globe, mainly to have easier usage of ANX and GCam. Currently the MIUI Custom-ROM Builder for Xiaomi RedMi Note 7 shows MIUI 20.11.12 (Android 10 / MIUI 12 2020-11-13 00:19:56) based on xiaomi.eu Builds as latest build you can customize, which I would love.
Also interested in any user experience with mi-globe
