I find outdoor screen brightness acceptable. I wouldn't want to read a novel on it in full sunlight, but the screen is entirely usable without having to shade it enough to read it.

With polarised sunnies on I can barely see the screen. Which kinda sucks outside.

Not too bright, visible. I'm not outdoors too often so I don't have too much of a problem.
