Yep got this to work with USB-C to display port and hdmi. Works perfect.
Probably the screen you're connected to or the cable

Wifi? What do you mean?
Are you referring to wireless mirroring?
I've had it working using my fire TV I think.
USB-C to DP or an HDMI adapter.
Both pass audio.

Ah I'm with you. Not sure pal, wireless mirroring just didn't compete with wired.
I tend to use a Chromecast if I have to

[Q] Connecting the device to a TV

Hi everyone,
I've searched this forum and on Google but didn't really find the answers to my questions.
If I want to connect my Nexus to a TV (that has a USB port of course) what cables and adapters do I need to use?
By searching I found out I need this adapter:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009UZBLSG
But what other cable/s do I need?
Thank you.

Just a heads up, there are cheaper ones that work better...
You screen will flicker with the SlimPort... at least mine did.

Can you show me an example, give me a link in Ebay or something? I seriously don't know what to search for.

Thanks, how are they called?
Can someone help? Do I need to buy a cable that has a male HDMI connector and a male USB connector so that it connects to my TV?
And along with it I need the slimport adapter (or any other adapter)?
Thanks.

Just a normal male to male hdmi cable, slimport goes to the hdmi input on your tv
It's easiest to just get a Miracast adapter since that's what the Nexus uses for Wireless Display. Just connect that little box to your TV via said HDMI cable and the nexus will connect to it directly, wirelessly.

Yes; the one I've been using was from Monoprice.com - here http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=108&cp_id=10833&cs_id=1083314&p_id=9724&seq=1&format=2

Might I ask what you use it with? I was under the assumption that not much actually works with our phones and these cables. Do you use a keyboard/mouse or maybe an audio device?

I've had a keyboard + mouse working; also used Stickmount to mount a USB hard drive (all of this was with a powered USB hub)
Granted, without having HDMI output this is all of limited use.
Probably the neatest thing I did was to use an old barcode scanner with a PS/2 -> USB adaptor to create an inventory of all of my textbooks (scanned the ISBN labels) to list them on Amazon.

[Q] MHL Adapter with OTG

Hey guys,
I received today my MHL adpater
http://www.ebay.com/itm/171436891054?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
The signal to the TV is working fine.
My problem is when I'm connecting devices to the USB host port, there is a power over there but my phone not responding, while those devices are working with a simple OTG cable.
Some help over here?

I have been looking for the same thing, an MHL - OTG - charging dock/adapter/dongle, I have not found anything that people report as working reliably on the S5 (I am also looking for one to work with a Note 10.1 2014).
Have you tried to connect a power supply on the micrUSB port? I have a MHL adapter and it needs external power.

Yes, I did.
I even tried connecting a USB hub and I saw there is a power from the USB Host.
Please give me a link for what you're using a direct link to eBay item.

I was under the impression you can either use mhl or otg. Not both at the same time. You tried just using the thumb drive by itself without the hdmi plugged in?
anyone had luck finding an adapter allowing you to use hdmi alongside otg?
anyone found an adapter than can do hdmi and usb host at the same time??? there seem to have plenty for s4 but nothing for s5?? although s5 is using a newer and more capable mhl if i am not wrong

it works well at same time as otg and hdmi
i am just not satisfied with the quality of the hdmi output.

i meant the image quality,to just watch and control your device its ok,to watch a 720p movie its not ok,video will be blur sometimes and it will be a little delay at sound.
few days ago i used a friends standalone hdmi adapter was performing amazing even at 1080p.
it is very nice thank you very much

I got that hdmi connection kit and it works great with my S3 doing hdmi 1080p and otg simultaneous + charging. But with my S5 it will only do hdmi 720p or otg not both. Image quality is poor on the monitor but great on the HD TV.
Maybe "Display Link" is the way to go to get wired screen mirroring and otg at the same time on the S5?

Solution for charging the phone and using headphones?

So yeah the jack is gone. Do we have any solution in the form of an adaptor perhaps, to enable us to charge the phone and listen to music? I know we have Bluetooth earphones but just looking for a solution to charge and listen at the same time?

There are adapters on the market with a USB-C for the phone on one end and multiple connectors on the other end, but the Samsung Members app has a warning against using them. You can wirelessly charge the phone while using USB-c connected earbuds (just make sure your cable includes a DAC)... Or do it the other way around, use Bluetooth earbuds while charging the phone with a cable... Samsung does have an adapter dongle which has USB-C on one end for the phone and several other connectors on the other end such as ethernet, USB-C and traditional USB but even that doesn't have a 3.5 millimeter stereo jack... you could plug a USB-C to 3.5 mm stereo adapter into that other adapter but I'm not sure if that would work and in that case you don't even have the USB type-c for supplying power to the phone anymore... It's bazarre!

Thanks am more interested in the said adapters and am hoping others who have used any particular one can share with me.

At one more thing... Some of the adapters even though they appear to work may feed power into the headphones erroneously. Also the power they feed to the phone through the adapter may be much less so it won't show up as high speed charging. I tried several and none of them would send anywhere near the same voltage from the dongle plugged into the wall - to the phone - so I ended up returning them and didn't buy any more after I saw the warning from Samsung. There are in line voltage meters for measuring this and they are pretty cheap but they also malfunction are break pretty easily. I tried a couple different versions of those and ended up returning them too!

Thanks but I need a more portable option hence the search for an adapter.
Tried this one from e bay (192954915657) a message comes up saying USB device not compatible. Its USBc plus 3.5mm.

I need to try that to see if my old Square dongle works with it. Either that or find a Square dongle with USB-C on the end.

USB-C to HDMi

Has anyone tried to use a usb-c to hdmi adapter to connect the S5E to a smart tv or other video device?
I know you can buy them, but not sure if they would work with this tablet.
They should work fine. However your device may boot into Dex when you first connect your device to a TV using a USB Type-C to HDMI cable,

I bought this adapter on Amazon and it works fine, it does launch DEX but if you don't want that just hit the home button and it goes back to normal mode. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QXMNF1X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
