Wifi Glitchy after Latest Shield Experience Update - Shield Android TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed my Nvidia Shield Pro 2017 back to 8.01 and the wifi works great. After upgrading to the latest and a factory reset, it will find my SSID at the very beginning, however, when I proceed, it cannot locate it. I plugged it in directly to the router to complete the setup and then connect to wifi. It constantly connects and disconnects. Even after just upgrading from 8.00 all the way to 8.11, I still face the same issue. It's very odd that the wifi works on 8.00 and 8.01 and not on 8.11. I'm not sure how to resolve this. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I
Thanks!

[Q] Obtaining IP Address.

Alright, I'm kinda having a pretty annoying issue now.
My Wildfire is flashed with OpenFire.
Since I don't have a wireless router I use connectify.
I setup my connectify network, and I try to connect to it, but my Wildfire just shows ''Obtaining IP-Address'', then it disappears, and then it says ''Obtaining IP-Address'', and this is kinda an endless loop.
Anyone have any advice on how to fix this?
I have kind of same situation where it only says Obtaining adress and nothing happens. It used to happen to me only on one specific router and when that router was reseted it was all OK. But now it happens again but resetting doesn't help. Any help?
I just plugged out the power source of my router for an entire day, and now I can connect to it and everything is working fine.
If resets of anything aren't working for you i'd suggest flashing the stock modem. This has been the case for a couple users. I'm currently stuck in the same place as you and I reflashed my own stock modem (sgs2) if anyone has any tips for me I would be VERY grateful!

[Q] Help! My acer A500 no longer accesses the Internet

Guys a week ago I bought my acer a500 Iconia yesterday I updated it to version 3.1, it was fast hands, much improved, I turned on my wifi connected it more often when I was browsing it does not access the Internet more and more strange I I can even access my router. Then I saw in that topic if you give it a reset back 2x the wifi to work properly. The more I did it and did not work, so I found the website of acer patch to fix the problem, I used more problem remained, so I downloaded another update.zip to update it to version 3.2, more el is still with the same problem does anyone know how to solve this?
First thing I'd do is try a hard reset the device..see where that takes you. Have you tried other routers, or tried connecting a different device to your router (to make sure it's not a router issue...)? If not, try restarting your router and modem first.
I take it you're running stock/not rooted?
I use the stock 3.2 ROM, I think the problem is the router, I used a program to use my laptop as a router and it worked, but not yet tested on a real router, but I think it's IP.
had this to
I had this when I bought my tablet (back when it had 3.1).
as fast as I got home and tried it the first time all networks around me could be found except for the one in our house.
I did a factory-reset on the tablet but it didn't work.
then i did a factory-reset on my router (since I lost the admin password). this seemed to work and after reïnstalling the ISP's things it functioned completely again.
I would suggest you change the channel of your wifi, the protection and retype the SSID.
also clear the logs and the firewall blocks.
If you retried connecting with these instructions leave a message here with your results
i try make what you says, but dont workink , my probleme is my router...
thanks!

Wifi stays connected but loses internet access

After the upgrade to Lollipop on my Yoga 2 830, I'm noticing that the wifi gets no internet access even while connected every so often. I have to turn off and turn back on the wifi for it to reconnect. Is anyone else having this issue? I don't have any issues w/ any of my other devices connected to wifi.
I'm not on static IP, no issues with the router. I didn't have any issues on kitkat. Please share if you also have this issue. Thanks.

Hello!
Did you try connecting your device to another wifi network to see if the problem persists?
I have noticed something similar happening with my Xperia Z ultra after it upgraded to lollipop. I realised that it was happening only on the older wifi routers (I use an ancient Linksys WRT54G), but seems to have no problem with the newer ones.
Changing the channel of your wifi router might help alleviate the problem. I am not certain if it would work in your case, but if you do not have another router handy, this just might do the trick. If you are looking to change the channel, an easy guide is available here.
I hope this helps
I've got a Netgear AC1900 nighthawk with a netgear ex6200 range extender. The tablet is primarily connected to the 5ghz band on the nighthawk. I do have other routers but they are older. I might have to try to take it to work and see if I lose internet access.
I've changed the bands around and it does help. I've rebooted the router, rebooted the tablet, forgotten the wifi and so on. It's still happening after some time. By the looks of it, there are others that have experienced this on other devices. I haven't done a factory reset. I would prefer not have to go through the setup again.

Any version of Android Oreo does not connect to my WiFi router!

I have done all the steps (vendor, radio, bootloader, TWRP all correct) and LineageOS 15.1 boots fine. However, it cannot connect to my home WiFi network.
The reason I went to Custom ROMS is because Google's OTA Oreo update, also had the same problem. So, whatever version of Android Oreo I have, I connect to WiFi, then it goes to a "connecting" state, then "Saved" then "Disabled"! Can someone help me troubleshoot this?! Thanks. If I go back to Android 7.1.2 , WiFi connects fine! This is bizarre. I am using 802.11n with a 300Mbps max BW DLink router.
The error in LogCat is "system_process W/WifiConfigManager: Looking up network with invalid networkId -1"
WiFi Verbose Logging shows "network selection disabled association rejection"
@zetret I went through similar scenario at my Aunt's house. Every time I visited would have to reboot the router. Only then would android Oreo connect. With nougat and that same router no issues. It was older model dlink not even 5ghz connection. If you haven't already try unplugging the router and plugging back in maybe will work for you. Just sucks that Everytime you leave the connection would have to repeat the process. You might have to flash back to android 7.1 until the router gets updated.

I have rebooted the router many times - still the same issue, and the router firmware is up-to-date, it's from last year.
If you're using WEP or WPA security on the router switch it to WPA2

Thanks, but it is already WPA2.

WiFi unstable

Hi,
Is anyone having an instability issue with WiFi connection? This happens at home and work, but my phone at times disconnects from WiFi. It also struggles to connect to "saved" WiFi at times. For example, I came home today, and it didn't connect to my home network, so i turned wifi off and on, and kept checking it, and it eventually connected. I'm on stock (never rooted this phone) 8.1, but I've had this problem even before updating to 8.1. If you have any suggestions to fix this issue, I'd really appreciate it.
Thank you,
I haven't experienced that behavior. Did you try resetting your network settings? If that doesn't work I would do a full factory reset but if you do it's important to select the fresh start option in setup instead of restoring from a Google backup. The backup restores some system and app data and can easily restore whatever is causing your problem. Sometimes data gets corrupted and your phone needs a fresh start.
i have seen this issue. It only happens on my 5ghz network. When i connect to my 2.4ghz network it is stable.

Thank you for chiming in. This was driving me crazy. I'll try switching to 2.4 and see if it'll go away.

Actually it still disconnected Same result.
I'm having a similar issue where after the phone has slept for a while, the wifi basically doesn't respond anymore until I've turned the wifi fully off and back on. Signal shows fine even though no data flows. Happens both at home and my office. This wasn't an issue at all since owning the phone through all the betas. Only started happening with official Oreo release. Forgetting networks didn't work. I'm not willing to reset the whole device right now, too much to redo. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and has a solution.
I have one phone that sort of logs off. It says "tap to login" it is a google dialogue. It is on my home WiFi at 2.4GHZ. I will be doing a reset within a week to see if it fixes things...
I am doing my Hard Factory Reset now....wish us all luck.
8.1 Oreo broke my Essential, I want it back...
More to come...
Mine was doing that as well, after resetting my router no connection issues.
HARD Factory Reset
Well, it's done.
It has to be done and done as hard as possible. No reinstating ANY previous software settings of any kind.
I linked to my WiFi (non 5G) after reboot, and there has since been no issue.
This doesn't mean the problem has been solved. Days may pass before it surfaces again...
In the meantime, Telus, who provides me this service has stated that an in store test of device should show whether or not this is a warranty issue. Connection to an in-store WiFi should show quickly if it's a firmware issue, and a discussion can begin about device exchange.
That's all for now.
Good luck.

No issues at home or work connected to an N router at home and an AC router system at work. Also no issues connecting to various public WiFi nodes.
I second elkay, same exact problem I'm experiencing. I may consider a hard reset on my phone soon, in hopes that it resolves the issue. Otherwise, I will continue running on my mobile network. Hope an official solution or fix comes soon.
Unfortunately, even a hard reset didn't fix it for me. I did end up buying a new router a couple days ago which does seem to have fixed the issue in my home (was buying a new one due to wifi coverage in corners of the house anyway), but that obviously won't solve the issue at work. Not sure where the incompatibility is. FWIW, I went from a Netgear R7000 to an R7800. Both running DD-WRT with same configuration.
I had this issue with a new PH-1 that updated to 8.1. I was not able to connect to an 802.11n router with cloaked SSID without difficulty, when saved, amidst several other issues, that I attributed to the 8.1 update. I downgraded to 7.1.1 and the wifi issue is resolved.
I just got an Essential Phone during the prime day deals and was experiencing the same issues. Download at 20mb/s for a couple of seconds then tank to 0.2mb/s.
Has anyone tried the latest Android P beta 3? It seems to have fixed my wifi throttling.
My phone was doing OK until a recent update. Now my phone disconnects and reconnects WiFi like crazy. Sometimes a dozen times in a few minutes. This is driving me crazy.
If you do not have Pie on your device load it.
I had serious WiFi connection problems on the last Oreo update but when I got the Pie update they disappeared and the phone has been fine since.
I'm on Pie and I still have this problem where the wifi will drop randomly every minute or two, but sometimes it's fine.
That's bizarre.... I had the one horrible Oreo update (as did a lot of others reporting in here) but since Pie it's been ok. I have both 2.4 and 5Ghz here but usually run on 2.4 as my router is in the next room and 5Ghz doesn't get through the walls nearly as well.
