Hello XDA community,
Im a noobie when it comes to rooting, thats why i need help...
I deleted some files that i want to recover on my Samsung S7 Edge 2-3 years ago, this device has Android 7.0. (Never updated)
There is a lot of apps such as Disk Digger that offer you to recover every single file but the device must be rooted to access 100% on the internal memory.
Right now my Samsung S7 Edge is not rooted but i need to root to recover this files, so my question is, there is anyway of rooting without factory reset, or there is anyway of doing a fully backup of the internal memory of my device without touching the partitions so then i can try recovering my files later with this apps?
I hope someone can help me...
Regards

Dear esteemed experts,
I’m hoping you can assist in my hour of need: My partner has a stock unrooted European G900F S5, which unfortunately had a massive software glitch causing it to crash on start up. Long story short we managed to get to the factory reset options and do a full reset, which cured the problem, however my partner’s data has now been lost.
She regularly backed up and had all the autobackups enabled so contacts, sms, mms, pics, videos, settings, etc were all restored with relative ease, but it appears the most valuable thing to her, her WhatsApp conversation backups were stored by Whatsapp on the internal memory rather than the SD card (brilliant piece of software design going on there) so they are gone. Smart Switch restored all of the other WhatsApp data on the internal memory as part of its “data” backup but not the backup files…
I’d like to run a data recovery program to see if they can be recovered, but am hitting dead ends at every turn: none of the specialist android recovery programs (such as dr fone) appear to work on a lollipop S5 unless it is rooted; none of the usual PC recovery suites can work on MTP or PTP modes and a mass storage connection is no longer possible (at least without root); and the only way to permanently root is to downgrade the stock rom (which will likely overwrite the data I am trying to recover) and use something like towel root on KitKat. In any event, she’s very happy with an unrooted phone with OTA updates and so wouldn’t wish to end up with a rooted phone anyway, so I’d have no real interest in a custom bootloader install, etc: I just want temporary access for dr fone!
To that end, I wondered if there was by any chance a crafty way of obtaining a temporary root in lollipop (a re-root after restart is absolutely fine by me) just so I can run a recovery program and see if we get any luck? If it came to it I think she’d be prepared to sacrifice a knox trip if she got her conversations back….
Apologies if this has been asked before, but I could only fish out advice on permanent rooting for s5 in my searches (both here and on google).
Many thanks for your assistance!
Dav
No way to root lollipop without tripping KNOX if you are not willing to downgrade to KitKat first, which would defeat the object as you could root with towelroot then anyway
Only way to root Lollipop is to flash CF Auto Root with ODIN, which WILL trip KNOX, and it is permanent unless you choose to unroot / flash stock again
This is the file you need to flash with ODIN (Extract and add it to the AP or PDA section of ODIN with the phone in download mode)

Hello guys.
I am a happy owner of a Note 4 N910F. Bought it recently and i love it.
Today, i accidentaly deleted some audio files, some rec's i had and they were stored in internal memory. I googled alot and tried some Unroot solutions (since my Note4 is unrooted) and i'm having no luck and what i find is old so i hope i can get help from you guys.
It has Marshmallow and, since it is only 4 months old, i dont want to root it (someone told me i lose warranty if i do it). Is there any way i can search for those deleted audio files without root?
Thanks
Enable USB debugging on your Note 4, connect it to your computer and try running data recovery software on it. If you haven't written any new data onto the internal memory of your Note 4. There is a chance that you can still recover the files this way.
I have an at&t samsung s8 snapdragon Oreo. For some reason I deleted all my text message and I dont have a back up. In order to retrieve them back the software i purchased ask me to root my device. Click to collapse
if you are able to downgrade and root the files will be over written by the downgrade and root method both leaving them more than likely gone
so pretty much you have to find a no root program that is capable of recovering them in oreo
Do you know by chance any software that really works without rooting? Thank you!!
Did you check your backups? Try to find an app that scans for deleted files, or a terminal command. Device manager most likely wiped the space.. probably shouldn't reboot the phone either..
Hi
I master resetted my phone (samsung galaxy s8) a while ago and I used it for ond year. NOw I need to recover data to have acess to data before resetting. However, to do this I need to root my device which means wiping the data again. I have tried a lot of software and apps and all of them need rooting. My question is that is it possible to recover my data after one reset and one root? Isn't the data overwritten?
P.S: Is android pie image available for S8?
Hi all,
My grandma recently passed away and her phone contains precious memories of her and our family. I found out that she accidentally deleted her entire gallery without realizing it before passing away and there doesn't seem to be a straightforward to try and recover lost data without rooting her phone.
I researched how to root an S8 but so far have not found a straightforward way to root the phone without potentially bricking the device. Would appreciate it if there is a way to safely root the device to help recover her photos?
Thanks for reading
As far as I know, there are some apps on the playstore that can recover photos without root (I've used DiskDigger and worked out OK). If you root, I think formating the device is inevitable and will probably just make the problem worse.
