Unable to update OS9 to anything after Beta 17 install - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

After updating my 6T unlocked international version to OS9 Beta 17, I am unable to perform any updates, either OTA or local. Is this common? How do I backdate my phone? I am willing to reset it to factory. I have tried the factory reset which did not fix the problem. System install gets to 99% then fails every time.

I personally think you ought to return to stable from beta, then try upgrading. There are guides on xda and on oneplus forums.

Format and Factory reset you device, that will do.

Unable to update success
Thanks for the info. I did find the Fulldowngrade_wipe_18801 file and was able to get it back to factory, then OTA updates all the way to OS 10.3.2.
It's nice to have a fully functioning phone once again.

AT&T Moto X 2013 with OTA Lollipop 5.1

Hi,
I have read several threads on rooting and downgrading. I guess I just want to know if I understand the correctly.
Issue: Did OTA update and now the phone drops calls and spontaneously restarts.
Goal: Fix the problem, maybe by downgrading back to 5.02 maybe?
Research: Downgrading not an option because of the firmware has been updated with v5.1 and going back to 5.02 may brick the phone.
Questions:
1. Is downgrading still not an option?
2. What can I do to resolve some of my issues? Try factory reset? Wipe phone and start from scratch?
3. I'm trying to help a friend out, they are with AT&T. I have usually dealt with T-Mobile and SIM cards with my Nexus 5 which has served me wonderfully. What nuances with re-configuring the phone once I either downgrade(if that becomes an option) or do a factory reset will I potentially run into.
Thanks in advance!
Because of the risks, I advise to NOT Downgrade. There is a thread link in my signature that FULLY explains why.. Its is a good read, especially since I'm sure you're going to get some posts here saying "its safe to downgrade"
If you are having issues, best to factory reset and erase cache. DO NOT restore apps/data. Manually configure the phone.
NOTE: keep in mind a factory reset will wipe the phone's /sdcard contents so you'll lose pix, music, downloads, etc.

My wifi won't enable after update

Last night, my wifi just stopped working, it won't enable. When I go to advanced I am sometimes able to turn on the wifi, but it just continuously says turning on but won't enable, and sometimes it's just totally greyed out. I also had some problems today connecting to mobile data services as well, and I don't know if that's related.
I've tried a hard reboot (but it just comes up saying no command...), I've tried restarting it a million times... The only thing I haven't tried is a factory reset, because I am abroad using google fi and I am worried that I will have to set up my project fi again and I can't connect to a tower in the USA. (I am not sure if that will even happen, but I won't be back in the USA for a good few months so I don't want to risk it)
My phone says it updated yesterday, which I assume has caused this wifi problem (or a really big coincidence), but I can't find any information online about it.
I run the stock rom, it's not rooted, I have had no problems with any other things besides this.
Is anyone else experiencing this, or has experienced this before? Do you have any suggestions on how to resolve it?
It sounds like you are experiencing the same problem as everyone who forgot to update their vendor image after flashing the OTA. Had you been rooted, the simple fix would have been to flash the the MTC19X vendor image. With unrooted phone, I got nothing. The only possible solution would be a factory reset and to download and install the OTA again.

I don't touch anything or mod anything on my phones. The phone updates itself and as long as I am not running any custom roms I don't see why they wouldn't have a complete update that basically just spoon feeds my phone. Do you know if factory reset would reset my project fi?

I believe factory resets wipe the /data and /cache partitions of the device. All apps installed in /data are deleted, while apps in /system like project fi will have all its setting reset.
It's easy to resolve the iasue if your rooted, but since you aren't the next to last step you may try would be doing a network settings reset. Go to Settings>Backup and Reset>Network Settings reset. Just make sure that you are aware of your cellular data settings so you can set thing back up after the reset.

I cannot update the software after recovering from softbrick

I originally had OOS3.0.2, and I tried to get Beanstalk rom installed. Beanstalk didn't load correctly, and I softbricked my phone. I managed to go through the recovery of downloading the qualcomm drivers and that weird updating program and then sideload an older version of OOS (2.2). I went to this link and did method 1 https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...ck-guide-for-a-hard-bricked-oneplus-2.347607/. But when I get things fixed up, I can't seem to update to CM13, or even to do a normal update with root, without root, with twrp, without twrp. Nothing. Strangely enough, no matter what I've been doing, the data I had from the very original pre-screw-up time is still all there. Every time I try an update it hangs on the 1+ screen and stays there. How can I get past this? I can't seem to upgrade, and I'm stuck in lollipop.
Well I was still able to get into my phone and do a stock recovery from the Update and Restore option from the phones settings menu, so that fixed it.

Update Android 7 to 8 without lose root and data

i use Version: V9.5.2.0.NADMIFA (MIUI9) with android 7.0 i follow this tutorial to root my device https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-note-2/how-to/how-to-flash-twrp-root-xiaomi-mi-note2-t3503675 - my question is, can i download the beta (http://en.miui.com/thread-1925953-1-1.html) without lose my data and lose my root, but if even i lose my data, there is any way to don't lose my root?
Unfortunately, it's a very high chance that you will need a factory reset after going for the latest global beta update, since you are on the stable one...
You can try it without any wipe/reset and see if everything is right...
About the root, i would'nt recommend to use it right now as it turns your device laggy in this early stage of android 8... But, if you still want it, you can use magisk for that. Also, root will not survive the change from stable to beta. Maybe you will not experience any lag when you will flash root , i hope so

Total xfer: 1.00x When sideloading OTA OnePlus 5

After half a year of not updating due to the the fact i was rooted, alot of apps started to have small annoying bugs. I also wanted to try out all the new features. I was (and sadly still am) on OxygenOS 5.0.. I decided i wanted to update my device, but since i've had it for such a long time i really didn't want to lose all my data and have to reinstall and relogin to every single app and tweak i've made over the past 6 months. So i looked up on how to accept OTA updates without having to reset, and if possible als not lose root. Now, about 2 days and a lot of work further i still have accomplished nothing.
I'm running windows 10 with all the drivers up to date, a Rooted One Plus 5 running OxygenOS 5.0.1 with TWRP 3.2.1-0 Universal Codeworkx-cheseburger custom recovery.
Here are my problems ;
When sideloading OTA 5.0.1 (to clean up and be able to accept OTA updates again) i get to about 47% and then get the message : Total xfer: 1.00x . I've looked it up and found multiple people with the exact same problem (All posts from 2-3 years ago) but can't seem to find a solution there. I've tried everything (updating drivers, different OxygenOS versions, sideloading via TWRP, wiping and then sideloading) Sideloading with the stock recovery or TWRP still doesn't work.
I now am totally out of options and ask for any of your help. I would be ever so gratefull becasue i really don't want to be stuck on the same OS version for the next couple of years. Thanks in advance!
Luuk
dont worry just copy the file without changing its name to the internal folder of your device. reboot the phone , the notification will appear on the notification panel. This could help some OEM s pl. try
