Why in the world don't you charge properly the battery before rebooting the device ?
My HD always reports the right battery values because I don't let the battery drain that much, if you wan't the battery to last many months please don't let it drain so close to 30%.

You should say: some applications I installed or functionality I have enabled are draining my battery badly. The device itself with the standard applications does not drain the battery in one day.
I agree that for example using wifi is a major drainer, but I do not beleive there are other devices out there that do it a lot better, like say continous wifi for two days...
Battery cosumption is always a problem in all devices. There is no single PDA out there that does not have a "battery" thread and how bad it is blah blah blah...
I can give you examples of devices that will be drained within a couple of hours, and the same devices being able to last for three weeks or more. It all depends on what you run and how you use it.
Your may be right or maybe not,
I think I'll un-install my apps and reinstall again with each new app being added one day at a time, to work out if any of them is killing my battery

A "normal" application doesn't drain your battery. By a "normal" application I mean something that you open, work on, and close it again.
You have to pay attention to applications, which are running in the background and/or are polling every few seconds something.

Hi,
the battery took long to reach 50%... about a day of heavy usage but after 50%, it took less den an hour of heavy usage to get to 10%. anyone experience this? or is my battery fautly? thanks.
i know that between soft resets my battery will change values, usually go up e.g. if its 40% when i reset when it reboots it will be 44%
i have the same issue here
but the battery last 2 days with me

Same here...on my device from 50 to 10% goes WAY faster than from 100 to 50%. To me it means crappy indicator. Must be a HTC problem, as my Prophet displayed similar behaviour.
This behaviour ("jumping" percentage after power-off) is completely normal, but the explanation would be very long.
Short version: What the battery % displays is in fact a translation of the voltage of the LiIon battery. When you switch off the device the voltage recovers a little bit, thus you get a higher % value when you switch it on the next time .. and which will fall rather rapidly until it stabilizes under the present load of the battery. Also the discharge curve of a LiIon battery is not completely linear.

Sorry to start another thread on battery issues but I was unable to find a scenario like mine.
Hey everybody, Im new to the android scene, just got my vibrant less than a month ago. Before that I had an Iphone 3g. So far I like the phone but the battery life is horrible. When I surf the internet on wifi or 3g I noticed that I use like 3-5% in a matter of 5 mins. Is this normal? I consider myself to be a light-moderate user and have been getting and average of 12 hours or so on my vibrant. Also if it makes any difference when my phone is idle or being used my temperature runs around the high 80's low 90's but when being charged it drops to the low 80's or high 70's. What is going on? How can I get more 20 hours on my phone? With the iphone I used to get an easy 15 hours and still have like 40-50% remaining.

When I first got the vibrant, it had pretty bad battery life, I would lose like 25% while sleeping 8-10 hrs. So light usage would be like a day. Slowly I started to get longer battery life (2 days on light usage). Recently I could get up to like 3.5 days on real light usage. After updating to JI6, max I can get now is like 3 days. I didn't really do much and I tripled my battery life by just giving it time.
Thanks burntrat I guess ill be patient. And I must mention that I am running stock.i was just worried because my battery temperature gets colder when charging and warmer when idle or running.

My battery has been draining inconsistently lately. It drains faster in the 50-100% level. Under 50%, it feels like it drains slower while doing the same stuff.

@aamir123 and burntrat: maybe you guys need to calibrate your battery? Also the stock rom usually has a lot of bloatware running in the background. Flashing a custom rom oughta do the trick.

How do you recalibrate the battery?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Try this. Download the system panel app from the market. You can set it to monitor your system and it will chart what applications are running and how much they are using the cpu. If you find you have some unnecessary bloatware running in the background download titanium backup and freeze those apps.

There are a lot of different ways mentioned in different forums. Try this:
Let your battery drain all the way to the point when it turns off by itself.
Charge it while its off until its full.
Unplug it, turn the phone on, then plug it in again.
After it reaches 100, unplug the charger and turn your phone off.
Once off, plug it in and let the charging complete.
Once complete, unplug it and turn the phone on. When everything has loaded, turn the phone off (note: no charging involved in this step.)
After it turns off, charge it one last time until 100%. After this, go into recovery and clear battery info (or cache, I forget). There you go
Oh, and its better if you don't download too many apps that monitor battery usage, cpu etc. cuz they will contribute to the battery consumption.

It isn't a good idea to let your battery drain all the way to zero since it is lithium ion. I think skipping that part and just charging it when it's on to full, then off to full, then on to full, then off to full and then wiping battery stats would suffice. Also you need to have clockwork recovery to wipe battery stats.

When the phone turns off by itself, the battery still has some juice left in it to prevent it from losing the ability to charge, if that's what you meant by not a good idea cuz its lithium ion. If thats not what you meant, then please explain why.

Agreed. In my case, I barely lasted 12 hours on moderate use with any of the JI6 2.1 ROMS (Eugene's, Bionix, Fusion, etc). I think after I updated to 2.2, all of the ROMS have been giving me 18+ hours on moderate-heavy use no matter what modem or kernel I use.
So where is the "unique" problem?

Hi Every One I dont know from were i will start Ok
I have a Problem of battery its drain soo much even i dont use the mobile Much and its drain so much.
BaseBand is XXJPY
Rom is Unlimited Rom
Please help me what should i do
1. you should use the search function, there are quite good threads concerning battery life
2. you could post in the general or, even better, the Q&A section.
3. you should post your stats, just saying the battery does not last long enough is a bit vague, if you're used to a old nokia anything under 10 days will seem short
4. when did you flash the last time? the battery meter needs some time to be accurate again. to speed up the process let the battery drain under 10% and then charge fully. after 2-3 days you should get accurate results.
5. you can check the battery statistics in the settings an see what drains much energy (besides the display^^), if it's any single app you might wanna look for an alternative. You can also think about apps you have installed that need the internet for updates/communication. such as skype and facebook. Especially skype has not the best reputation.
6. what kernel are you on and has it tweaks (speedmod f.e. access able in recovery) you could enable?
7. Check what modem version you have ("baseband" in the settings -> about phone) and whether it's compatible with your region. a thread with information on that is linked in my signature.
8. To tweak even more you can try apps such as Tasker or juicedefender
Hmmm OK^^
First of all i used Darky rom wth frimware XWJS5 and Kernel (stock+Voodoo-Froyo-GT-I9000-XWJS5)
And now i install Same Firmware its (FROYO.XWJS5 Build Number) And i install Unlimited Rom 8.0
I see in Battery use the (Display take 60%)-(Cell standby take 18% Wifi take 15%)
Baseband version is I9000XXJPY
I install that Rom yesterday and i put in Charge When the battery in 4%
And Still i didnt install any Software like facebook or skype
If we say that we want like nokia Then its just sound like Nice joke But dosent work at all.
Here is only problem that i wont take much longer even i dont use jst power Off
well and how much time has passed since you charged and on what % are you now?
I guess the battery life will get better in a few days by it self as mentioned above
I Charge the mobile in evening at 3 when the mobile clos it self

Unless you watch lots of videos/play a lot on your phone. to make it easier:
a consumption of under 2% per hour on standby (screen off, just laying around) is normal. For reference values look here
now its 82% wthout doing anything

Its just for a quite a long time now it was known to just about everyone that smartphones are very battery hungry and it is good to get a full day from one charge.
And yet we see still such post about battery. Kind of pisses me off.
Well in the case of osasih we have 85% at 05:25 and 82% at 05:59 which makes 3% in 34 minutes. That equals to 5.3% per hour, so that the phone should last almost 20 hours - that's fine.
However, in my case I see a drain of almost 9% per hour which is far too much IMHO. I logged yesterday when I left work charging until 65%. Whith 9% per hour it should have lasted until midnight, but suddenly it dropped from 33% to 2% in only one hour!
You cpould see this effect in the attached graphic

try rebooting the phone and look whether the problem persists. I know it sounds stupid but I think there's a bug somewhere that eats battery after flashing or randomly after boots. I only experienced signs of it after flashing since I don't really shut down my phone on any other occasions

Yeah, I'm still stock on this phone and I'm getting inconsistent battery life. I usually charge every night, so I'm running about 16-17 hours per day. Almost identical usage each day but one day I'll plug in with 45-50% remaining and the next it will be dead when i plug in. Very odd. I'm going to root this thing just so I can get rid of the bloat apps. Well, that may not be the only reason I root. I may be compelled to put some AOSP on this and see how it rocks it.
well i don`t really recommend to ROOT stock rom, it caused for me a battery drain ! also KitKat known for drain issue even on Pure android on Nexus 5. I don`t really know a fix but i`d give u some tip and it might help
1. Re-flash D80020c
2. After re-flash do a factory reset
3. Don`t root or mod your OS
4. Turn off Sync or Location Service (or set to battery saver mode)
i did those steps and i have 34 hour on battery:
3 Hour screen on time (and about 30-40 min gaming in this 3 hour)
Left about 49%
i hope i helped a little
Potential solutions:
Have a look in Settings > General > Battery and see what seems to be using the most power. You could have a problem app that’s using GPS or trying to update frequently. If you can identify the culprit then you can remove it.
There’s a slim chance you have a faulty handset. If adjusting your usage and tweaking settings doesn’t’ result in any improvement then take your LG G2 back to the retailer or carrier and get a replacement.

I always have location turned off with all bloatware rwmoved. I honestly think you have to drain it to about 20% then charge. Cause i never have problems when i do that. Gonna try and drain it out again and recharge and see what happens then.

well i really not heard about Deep sleep drain but while idle it`s drains bit faster then JB, with jb i could get max 40 hour and about 6hr screen on time and + 10-15% battery while on KK i can get 42 hour but about 5 hr and 45 min screen on time with 0% battery it`s seems a bit problem for 4.4.2 i think Google will fix it and hopefull we`ll get new update from AT&T if this prob will fixed
P.S i saw that if battery at 100%, overnight it won`t fall to 99 but while battery is on below 100% it drains about 1-2 % overnight is that a known prob?

2% overnight is pretty good, given that it's on WIFI I'm assuming?
I lost 25% overnight last night when I was off WIFI, so I factory resetted mine.
Took it down to 20% and discharged and its fine. Im guessing its a bug, but, easy fix just take the battery down to 20% or lower before charging
Just like the title says, I would like to know what is the average battery drain that you guys are getting on your S6 and S6E devices while leaving it on idle. My device is SM-920I and the battery drains about 0.7% on WiFi and 1.5% on 4G per hour. I understand that the mileage will vary depending on how many apps/radios you have installed/turned on, but would be interesting to know what everyone is getting as an average.
I'm running a fairly untouched version of clean rom. The only battery tweaking I'm done is having GPS only turn on for maps. About 1 to 2% an hour
Over night i am normally at 65%. When i wake up its at 64%..... all data, gps and sync are off. And on silent mode....
While phone in deep sleep, it drains 0% for 6H and 1% around 7-8H. All stock and no root.

At best I get 0.6%/hr with WiFi turned off over night (about 7 hrs). With WiFi on and connected it's worse, 1.1%/hr drain. Weird to me that yours uses less battery on WiFi.
In either case, my 'held awake' time is between 35 minutes and 1 hour, again this is overnight.
I've done a lot of tests since getting the phone and this is consistent for me.

While on 3/4G, Google Services and Android Systems are draining more data than on WiFi which leads to higher battery usage on mine.
I get a drain of 7- 8% during my sleep with wifi 3g off and all multitasking off and greenify(root) on. please help me to reduce it. how to get my phone into deep sleep?

Get better battery starts and check the kernel and partial wakelocks to see what keeps it awake.
I have some atrocious battery drain. Right now im on XTreSoLite 2.0 Odex and uniKernel with pretty much every service disabled, greenified, app removed, etc thats possible and still get bad drain. Ive even gotten rid of the Google app in my quest to fix it. I have more battery and wakelock managing apps installed i do than everything else combined. Literally nothing i do seems to make it reasonable. Right now im draining at 7.9% an hour, I average 5 hours of SOT with 16 of standby. If I let my device idle I get 2 hours or so of SOT with standby of 18 hours. Overnight drain can be anywhere from 10% to 2% and I can't figure out what to do to fix it. And the worst part is, all my wakelocks aren't anything severe. The most severe one I have keeps my device awake for a total of 5 minutes at most over the 16 hour period.
Literally at my wits end.
I even tried to undervolt my processor but I can't find an app that actually works, most just revert what I set after a few minutes. ._.
Stock OS was terrible, my phone would die in literally four hours immediately after after factory reset and not signing into any accounts.

Maybe you have removed too much and some app is waiting for another which you have removed or greenified.
BTW a device draining in 4 hours probably means a defective battery, these things can be very dangerous! !!!!
1-4% based on what I have running when I go to bed. I leave everything on.

1-2% missing when i go to bed everythings on including wifi
I just have a night mode in Tasker. It drains around 1% over a night (8 hours) if bad cell, else less than 1%.
My night mode just toggle Bluetooth, data, wifi and GPS off and then on again at morning.
Yesterday had gone 25 hours without charging and still have 39% left but screen time of about 1.25 hours and most of the time on wifi. Talktime of about 1 hour. I haven't rooted or disabled any app and i find this is lot better idle drain than my nexus 5. But yeah i can only get around 4 hour SOT because i always use full brightness.
usually down bout 20%~ when i leave my phone for the night.
