Big difference in audio quality between FM-radio and streaming - Android Head-Units

Hi all!
Just getting aquanted to a new android head unit. It´s branded Hizpo and runs Android 10 on px5/rockchip3368 with 4/64 gb memory. Unrooted.
MCU: S32F0_yunht-18-W_20191115_HD1_7708_D_FF_C8
For most parts it´s working really well. But in one area I´m a bit disappointed: the FM radio audio quality.
While reception on the antenna is strong without static, audio is harsh with very strong mids but very little bass. To some degree this can be compensated with adjusting the DSP with full setting on the lower freq and lowest on the rest. But it´s still not pleasant to hear.
In the meanwhile streaming on for example spotify sounds really good.
How can this differ so much and is there anything to try to do to fix it?
The radio IC is NXP6686 according to the listed scecs.
Thanks in advance for any input!

Well did som complaining to the store on AliXprs about the poor FM audio quality and actually got a response and a firmware update file! Will be interesting to try. Will report back.

Nope, no improvement. Probably because I got exactly the same version as already installed. "Fun" to discover after the hazzle with resetting etc . Have reported back to seller and waiting for response. Maybe they´re playing me?

Don't count on any after sales support for the low end units. I was going to suggest checking if the radio app doesn't kill the equalizer (mine did before I replaced it) but it looks like you looked into equalization.
You can try another radio app, but that requires root...not a lot of fun, trust me.

After more back and forth with the "support" I suddenly was sent a MCU update file that they want me to try.
According to the file name it's a newer version from march this year (current version is from 2019):
tbandmcu_S32F0_yunht-18-W_20200313_HD1.bin
Since I'm about to head out on the road next week I'm not ready to risk anything so I will wait with running the update until I'm back.

Finally got around to updating the new MCU I got from support a couple of weeks ago.
Update went smooth. Dunno if it's placebo, but I think FM audio quality has improved a bit.
But still Spotify and other streaming sounds better.
Maybe I just have to get used to it.
And streaming internet radio over a LTE router works really well so no Biggie any more.

It's a Yamaha DAP, not Wolfson. It may be louder, but not necessarily better.

agree on that.
I find that the headset sound is too weak when I am outside doing phone calls.
Main thing for me was the speaker sound .
This is not getting any louder

Supercurio has released the app.

just need a kernel that can support it
Edit : Works with stock kernel
I'm using it already on stock ROM and kernal and it's great. Will try it out later on some better headphones.

Works on a Note as it comes out of the box?
Believe it or not but i've been holding back on the purchase of the Note till this app got released.
Coming from iOS were everything works fine out of the box (fine if you liked the late Steve vision) i'm wondering if i can get this app working on a Galaxy Note with the stock firmware that it carries out of the box.
All this kernel and rom stuff sounds a bit alien to me and it would be great if i could enjoy the Note without knowing a damn thing about these tweaks. I guess i'm getting old and i no longer enjoy spending time in front of a screen tinkering with the OS.

I'm in the same situation.
I've bought one for BMW and I'll like to make a lot of changes...
I think Carda is the model. The maker is PenHui or Guangzhou Hanghui Electronics Co
CARDA is the brand of PENHUI products.
Now they launched a widecrange of deckless models with Android 4.4, most of the models with larger displays than usual.
Android-caraudio.com, HK company with european management, sells all these models with affordable prices.
Example : this model for Audi A3 with 8.8" display

Yes, but it is small compared to this other model for FORD MONDEO 2015 with a huge 14" display!!!
I finally got the unit rooted, but is there any way to upgrade OS to 5.1 or higher?

I recommend you this firmware.

That is great news! Currently the 4.4.2 is lacking a lot. Is your steering wheel controls working at all of you have the canbus box?
Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
Yes. Everithing is working great.
Was able to get the unit changed with the link you posted. It unfortunately downgraded the OS from 4.4.2 to 4.2.2. Lost the center console controls too, which is okay since they were pointless on my Audi A3 8V. Looking forward to the 6.0 upgrade.

Go to AliExpress and find yourself one of these (or equivalent):

Search for "Polo mk4" and make sure the model fits your car.
I would post some links, but as a new member here I am not allowed to yet (spam prevention).
I'd rather spend some extra money and get the newer more "expensive" models, with better prosessor, more RAM and Android 8.0 tho.
These will fit flush in your Polo mk4, no fascia needed.
Happy shopping!
Do u recommend this unit?
I found this u it online seems to be good to me but not proper i to specs an stuff, does this seem like it could last for quite a while an still be alright. I know the octacore is good if the cores are good enough and rgb of ram is great but is the processor good? Also buying from aliexpress an being in the uk will i get custom charges. Thankyou!!

I don't have this unit myself, but a similar one fit for Golf mk6. Very responsive and nice resolution on the screen.
You will have to expect custom charges when ordering from AliExpress, yes. But sometimes the sellers write a lower value on items, somteimes not..
You might want to check out Xtrons, Chinese manufacturer, but they have a UK-based store as well (if you want to avvoid customs). They have a player fit for Polo mk4, but it's £299 tho.
Still, that's cheap considering all the features you get.
You can search on Joying website:www.joyingauto.com,the VW unit is plug and play

When I look at the Dutch site they do not. When I check https://www.suzukiveiculos.com.br/veiculos/s-cross-4style-s, they indeed seem to do that.
A couple of months ago a user showed the same for a Korean or Japanese car, at least some brand from Asia, but not one of the big Japanese brands. And it was for "some" Asian country. He wanted to know if he could use the Joying firmware.
I vaguely "think" to remember it was a Kia or a Subaru.
Edit: I quickly did read 2 Dutch car tests of the S-Cross and based on the pictures it is definitely not a FYT system (if only for the good Dutch translations in the screens. They FYTs don't support Dutch at all )

Pure noob back after 10+ yrs on XDA. Trying to pick between two devices for 911 porsche carrera S 2007! Picture heavy thread!

I have a choice of two models for my car which integrate nicely.
1. Owtosin official Unit: Owtosin Official Unit link Either with
PX6 with 4GB of ram and 64GB rom (743$ shipped canadian)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
or
SD665 6GB of ram and 128GB rom (840$ shipped canadian)
There is also addons (wireless android auto/carplay + 40$, DSP (20$)
Cost is pretty significant for this unit for a Android based unit.
2. Heregoes Unit: Heregoes Unit Link with UIS7862 (8GB of ram and 128GB rom) for 590$ Canadian shipped.
There is a 300$ difference between the two which is significant. No doubt the Owtosin Official unit looks to be higher quality but I am not sure it is worth the difference in price.
1. Can anyone tell me if there will be a significant difference in day to day usage? I don't plan on doing much more than Waze, Spotify and may a DVR in the future with it. No watching movies or playing games here. May even just use Android Auto 90% of the time!)
2. Can anyone comment to the output sound quality? I have the bose sound system in my car which sounds great and am getting the Optical Fiber connector (included in both prices I quoted) and want to make sure I get decent quality sound. Not a snob but wanna make sure my OEM subwoofer etc work which are all part of the Bose system.
3. Can anyone comment to the sound quality of Bluetooth audio calls? I am willing to spend extra to ensure I have GOOD quality bluetooth calls at all times in the car.
4. I plan to connect it to an AHD backup camera. Anything to look out for with this?
5. I can't seem to figure out how many USB connections the UIS7862 based system has. Can I use a USB head one day if needed?
Happy to hear people's responses and see if I am on the right track and make a decision!
Pic of my gf with the car (it's actually her car!!)
Also quick follow up question I noticed.
The lower priced unit comes with TDA7851 and the higher quality unit I can purchase a bu32107efv.
Honestly just using the OEM bose system I think I really won't notice a difference especially since it will be 100% spotify streaming audio!
