Downgrade to stock pie from Android 10 - Nokia 6.1 Plus (X6) Questions & Answers

I have been using 10 for a while on this phone and its working okay apart from the itchy audio and gcam(s) not working. Nokia has fixed anything yet in their monthly updates.
The problem is this: after flashing the 9 stock rom, It still gets stuck at the mandatory 'checking for updates' which forces to update to 10 again. Is there any way to disable the update check to retain android 9? It is far stable than android 10.
Bootloader is already unlocked.

Try this command
Code:
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.android.dynsystem

Couldnt get adb to work because the phone hasn't finished 'setting up' yet. I'm thinking that fastboot does not erase userdata properly. Or I dont know how to use it very well.

Can anyone amomng you help me to get my bootloader unlocked..

There is no official download for 4.5.4 yet, did you get it OTA ? If so, it's a big warning for everybody out there to disable the OTA updates!!!
Most likely Amazon fixed the Kingroot exploit, so I'd be actually surprised if 4.5.4 is rootable via the same approach as before.
Fellas, cherish the root that you got, and don't even think about updating !!!
Is there any way to downgrade to 4.5.3 without going through Amazon?

yes. I dunno if it gets reset on boot or not. I think it does.
My tool also does
Code:
mv /system/priv-app/DeviceSoftwareOTA.apk /system/priv-app/DeviceSoftwareOTA.apk.bak
Yeah it was an OTA update. Literally just as is was getting my laptop out to block them

Same thing happened to me today. A few days ago I put my kindle back to factory settings, turned it on today to start playing around with it, only to find it had started to update. Tried various ways to stop this from happening, but none succeeded and sadly my kindle has now updated itself which is so annoying.
Anyway, I presume there no way to roll it back, and I think I may just sell mine, even though its probably worth nothing now it cant be rooted

had this happen to one of my hd6's a few days ago because i forgot to block ota updates after rooting.
i was able to get downgraded back to 4.5.3 by amazon support, then i blocked ota updates, and contacted support again to have them move my device back to the normal ota update pool to keep the ability to update in the future if another root method appears that works against newer updates/kernels so then ota can be re-enabled at that point in time

Wow, lucky you !!! Remember that you can always update manually, so the whole OTA pool is kind of useless.
But I wonder if there is a way to intercept Amazon's downgrade to one's Fire, and use it to downgrade other devices. There must be a moment when that downgrade bin sitting nicely in /cache, waiting to be copied ...
Perhaps, after a downgrade, you can try to recover the downgrade bin file from the system?

i actually had my device proxied via burpsuite while contacting support and them conducting the rollback but wasnt able to capture anything
one interesting thing i noticed while having the hd6 proxied is that the silk browser constantly tries to phone home to internal.amazon.com

What exactly do you say to customer support in order for them to roll your firmware back. I do find it very annoying there you can't opt out of ota. I mean even Apple give you the option.

apologies for the delayed response,
ive been dealing with a serious injury over the past few days.
i just went and told them that after updating to 4.5.4 i was having issues with the screen flickering and glitching, and system lags that persisted across factory resets.
if i have the time to try later im gonna see if i can get them to roll back one of my other devices while monitoring my entire network this time vs just proxying the device via burpsuite like i did before, then perhaps this may shed some light on the rollback/upgrade process

Looking for NPG47I full OTA Image

Hey all, does anyone have a full OTA image of NPG47I?
My phone is bootlooping and the bootloader is locked and OEM unlock was not enabled so I can't flash a factory image. I tried to sideload OTAs but I can not install over newer build. Is the OTA out there anywhere? Is it possible for someone to upload it, or do I have to wait for google to upload it?
Thanks in advance

Yes, cleared cache and factory reset. Still bootlooping. :/
With a locked bootloader I'm not aware of anything more that can be done at this point. It will be 3 weeks until the May security update... and the bad part is that the new OTA may not work either.

Plug it into your computer and make sure the drivers are installed especially the adb bootloader interface. Then go to your adb and fastboot directory and put your phone in bootloader mode. Then type fastboot devices and your devices serial should show up and then type fastboot oem unlock. Are you using Windows or a Unix based OS like Linux or Mac?

The BLOD phenomenon is completely independent of Android build. It is a hardware defect, usually the motherboard (bad memory, cracked solder connections, etc.) In your case, the replacement part costs upwards of 60% of the original cost of the phone. Time to move on.

ZTE Maven 3 (z835) Root?

Does anyone know how to root the ZTE Maven 3 (z835)?

I think there is some new protection they added to prevent developer mode the usual way. When I tap the build number several times, I get this big N in the middle of the screen.

Not sure - I think this is useful to gain root persistence from what I'm reading. ADB and root tools (like kingroot on pc/android) don't have any more permissions than they did before. We need to somehow exploit FTM or EDL mode for unlocked bootloader, like how the Axon 7 was unlocked. I don't think we'll have any luck with regular userland exploits on Android 7.1.1 with July security update...

Whatever you guys want me to install on this phone; I'll be happy to. A year ago I got the Alcatel Ideal 4060a for $10 on Black Friday, unlocked it for free right away, (this was before AT&T required 6 months of active service to unlock) and now "that" phone is rooted, has it's own TWRP recovery, there's a Custom Rom for it on XDA, etc.
1 year later, I picked up this ZTE Maven 3 on Black Friday for $8, unlocked it for $1.70 online. I hope the similarities don't end there. These phones are great casting devices.

Disabling system write protection before rooting didn't wok. The Maven 3 is recognized by ADB just fine, reboots fine after "Adb reboot disemmcwp", Kingo ROOT completes the root-check to 100%, but it shows the dreaded "ROOT Failed" message.
word?
I have 2 of these sitting on my desk, unopened.
Would like to put in service, but not on AT&T rapine.
Try putting the phone in FTM mode and plugging the phone into your PC and run the root program. The only issue with that is it works until the phone is rebooted. That's worked on other ZTE phones I've had. I haven't seen a stable solution yet.

That doesn't work either.
If I could just remove those stupid "Play Movies & TV, Play Music, and Gmail" apps I never use, I would be happy. Those apps alone take up around 200mb of storage just being installed, you can't disable them either.

Sony Xperia XA2 - Unlocking

I'd like to start a discussion on unlocking the XA2 bootloader and rooting it. So far, it looks like for Sony devices, you need to send a request through the Sony site here: https://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/
But there is no device selection for the XA2. This is where i'm currently stuck at. Does anyone know of any other way to unlock the bootloader?
Okay got it to unlock bootloader.
Steps:
1. Head to https://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/. Select Xperia XA1 in the dropdown, follow steps, then get your access code.
2. Pretty much follow the steps in that guide from sony, where you get the access code. The only difference was when installing the fastboot drivers. On win 10, i had to go and follow the steps here to install android drivers: https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/129174/windows-10-fastboot-driver
After that, fastboot was able to recognize the device and unlock the bootloader.
So now, i guess i'm waiting for TWRP to be released for XA2 to get recovery and root.
I've been looking for a XA2 page for a while. Can we request one?
This is a interesting device and I hope the development community shows some interest too.
What's your impressions of it so far?
Agreed, I'm quite shocked there is no development threads as of yet for this newly released device. Already checked mine, and can see that sky mobile have left it unlockable, so I would also be interested in development for this device.

Same. I bought it off Amazon US and I didn't realize I was buying such a recent phone. To any future devs, add "Night Light" feature and swipe fingerprint to bring down notification bar to any ROMS would make this phone a great sucessor to my Honor 8.
XA2 has been perfect for me so far, coming from Nexus 5x. I mostly use my phone for reddit and podcasts, though. Just need my LineageOS on it.

I haven't been able to root yet. I've only unlocked the bootloader, which hasn't caused any problems with bank of America. on my other phone rooting didn't affect bank of America, however Android pay didn't work, and snapchat can only be logged in before root and not after. once you root, you won't be able to log back in snapchat if you logout, however if you log in it'll stay logged in after root.
I've been having problems with the windows 10 fastboot and ADB drivers. i got fastboot to work long enough to unlock the bootloader but then it stopped recognizing my phone. still haven't gotten ADB to work yet ?*

I think you can sideload with ADB once the bootloader is unlocked. I was under the impression TWRP is like a GUI for ADB. but There's something funky with the windows 10 drivers. it took forever for my phone to get detected in fastboot, and ADB never seemed to work. then, after i unlocked my phone, the PC doesn't even recognize it in fastboot anymore.
likewise, I've always used Samsung phones & odin. This is my first Sony. the lack of root is killing me ?
From what i read, adb sideload requires custom recovery.
Is anyone else on Project FI with this phone? I'm getting awful 4G and wifi performance with the XA2. Constantly losing internet access (even though signal bar is at 5 bars).

for this, you will need a custom recovery GUI such as TWRP. I believe tht all you can do on this device by pressing volume- is access ADB, and volume+ gets you into fastboot, which can be accessed via command prompt on a PC

Isn't TWRP basically just the GUI of all the ADB commands? I was under the impression you could do almost everything you can do in TWRP in ADB CLI mode on a PC ?*
I was under the impression to sideload you can boot with a USB plugged into your computer and your phone press volume- Then the indicator light in the top right corner turns green, and (if the drivers on my PC would cooperate) then it would accept ADB sideload commands. Now, I am unsure of this; that's just what my basic understanding is. If I could get the damn drivers to work right, I could find out for sure ?

I don't know nearly enough about the android ecosystem to comment, beyond what i found. I think adb sideload is a specific command, which requires twrp. But other adb may work? I don't want to risk it yet anyways.
Regarding drivers, did you try the thing i linked in my first post on this thread? My XA2 is still recognized after bootloader unlock with my method.
What do you know flashtool supports our xa2? that I know no because I tried to convert an ftf file but in the device list the xa2 is not there. also does not recognize me in flashmode despite emma recognize it. thank you

Is it ok to update to this and be able to still bootloader unlock when I get my key from OnePlus!?
I don't know why it would cause any problems. I guess I'll find out once my unlock key comes in...
I ended up taking the update so I guess we shall see what happens
Can anyone get me the ota.zip for the TMO update or use the adb pull command for their boot.img after update?

This update fixed a bunch of my screen sensitivity issues. I'm quite thrilled about that actually. My games aren't miss registering anymore

Yeah nevermind then. But if anyone has the ota.zip I'd be very appreciative if I could get a copy

Hey can you pull your modem? Forgot to backup mine when I converted to India version and don't want to wipe everything to pull it. Just to this.
1. Go to https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-8t/how-to/wip-root-kb2005-unlocked-8t-t4179423/post83851225 and download the "broken twrp". This will let you get ADB root so you can back up the modem.
1.1 Reboot to bootloader and enter fastbfastboot boot recovery.img
2. Type adb shell
2.1 Type dd if=/dev/block/platform/soc/1d84000.ufshc/by-name/modemst1 of=/sdcard/modem_b (if that doesnt work use modem_a)
2.2 Type exit
3. Type adb pull /sdcard/modem_b this will put the modem backup in whatever folder your running adb in
if you can do that that'd be sweet
