Very Slow PX3 Android Head Unit - Android Head-Units

Hello
Couple of years ago I bought and Android HU for my Kia Rio UB.
It is a PX3 RK3188 with Android 7.1.2, Quad Core and 2 Gb of RAM.
At the very first time the HU was extremely fast. Apps installed within 1-2 secs, updates were instant and everything was very smooth. But as time passed it became slower and slower. At this time a regular app update (ex Google Maps - file size in PlayStore should be about 30Mb) could last up to 20 min to complete....
HU is not overloaded, i have only factory apps (radio, video player etc) and a few others like spotify and sygic navi...
I have also done all rom updates i found on the internet and all MCU updates as well.
I did a lot of factory resets trying to fix this issue with no success, at the very first boot it is still a very slow HU.
Is there any reason this happens? Can I do something to fix it?

I have same problem. I dont know. I tried Clear ram .. but nothing change. Play store very slow. Programs very slow open

Somebody told me to do a clean install of the Android.
But i thought that when I do factory reset it is the same thing.
I guess he means to flash the rom from the beginning.... Not sure if it is going to work, but I have to try.

I solved the problem. I deleted the cache and all other data of the Google app and playstore app. I removed updates for the Google app. the device got pretty fast. do not google update.

I will give it a try too...
Thx

Did what you did but no significant speed change.
Maybe I will try to flash the rom again while wiping data.

Hello, i read this post and i agree with slow. Someone solved? Any tips ? Thanks in advance

I had the same issues with similar device. The workaround (working for me) was not to use google at all. So factory reset, no sign in to google account, no play store. Installed APKs manually from mirrors (I have only Waze, Here We Go and Deezer). Device is responsive again.
Device was useless with the same apps + Google Play Services.

[Q] Gallery using lots of CPU and eating RAM

Small background on the issue here, i tried the stock android camera but the video recording was stuck in low resolution and didn't work correctly so i removed it (and the built in gallery), i went back to using the Samsung camera (which i'm not happy with anyway) but when i use the gallery, the thing is laggy as hell, zooming and browsing pictures is jumpy at best, and if i stay in the app, it pretty much freezes the phone up.
So i had a look in the task manager and any time the Gallery is running in the background it constantly uses around 16% of the CPU and the RAM usage goes up and up, at a rate of 50mb+ per minute, keeping the phone hot and draining the battery. The phone will eventually need resetting if left in this state.
Since i wasn't in the mood for troubleshooting, i guessed that the android camera/gallery had messed something up with the samsung one and i just did a full wipe/factory reset, the problem still persists. Do i need to flash the firmware again to fix this? It seems like something is corrupted but i'm not sure why the factory reset hasn't fixed it.
Here's a few screenshots i took over a 4 minute period.
The firmware is I9505XXUEMJ7 4.3

I had just done this before your reply and it did need an update, it's now on the latest:

The problem still remained however i think i've managed to fix it in the last few minutes, I did the following:
Tried Camera JB+ from the Play Store
Disabled the Samsung Gallery app
Didn't like the JB+ camera so removed it
Enabled Samsung Gallery again and now it's not causing problems
I'm not sure if it was the disabling/enabling of the gallery which has fixed it or if it was the install/removal of another camera/gallery, but for now it seems to be fixed, i have been trying everything over the last few days, factory reset, clearing caches and even updating to the newer firmware. Glad it seems to be working (for now at least) but annoying that i don't know why it was happening. Also worried it will happen in the future which could drain the battery in a very short time if i don't notice it quickly.
- Only u have to go Apps - Settings - More - Aplication manager- (last tab) All
- Tap "Gallery" app
- Clean cache
Took a couple of pictures at work this morning and it's doing it again! Not sure what else i can try.
edit: i've just switched g+ picture backup on and it's told me it's updating 139 pictures (there are only about 20 pics on the phone). After checking my account online, i can see it's uploading a bunch of photos that were deleted a long time ago on the phone.

Which radio is this?

From my research it seems to be similar to the ownice c300. It is running android 4.4.4. It lists having a quad core processor, but cpu-z shows it as having a Cortex A7 1ghz running on two cores. It says two cores are turned off.
Is there anyway to update this, change the launcher to a joying or malaysk style launcher? I cant figure out how to remove apps once added to the home screen, and I cant remove the big widget. It is also difficult to go into settings menus as the language changes to chinese. I cant figure out how to get to recovery either. It is pretty quick. It boots very fast. most apps except for google play music work pretty well.
I can't find much information about the mcu or how to update it.

I can't remove this widget or any app icons on other pages. I also cant change the clock to am/pm format when showing digital instead of analog.
i have the exact same unit, been wandering around to get custom rom since mine can't seem to run google services..
which means not on playstore buat youtube app cant run as well..
is yours only cant play google music or all google apps as well?
Other google apps work well. It seems to only be Google Play music that crashes. Youtube and Maps are working great.
Pandora, Iheart music, the play store, everything else seems to work alright. It also boots pretty quickly.

Have a locked headunit 10" android 4.4.4 and no app store

Bought a car recently, and one of the extras Nissan put into my qashqai was a 10 inch android head unit, which completely replaces the stock set up.
It's got bluetooth, a file manager, sd card slot, waze, and couple other apps built in. But no app store. Tried side loading apps via sd card, but requires I allow unknown apps, and that won't allow without a password.
No idea what the passcode is, and the installation guys said they can't help me because they are a legitimate company and apparently it's a no no here to leave it unlocked.
So question, fellas, someone help me unlock it. I really just want to add a couple basic apps, not even looking for netflix, or hulu, or fb. Just a handful of apps to make every day driving more enjoyable. I also prefer google maps over waze personally.
Heres what it looks like, since it doesn't have a brand name or anything.

Hello, lilmomo, I have the same problem with my Nissan, were you able to sign in to Google app? If so what is the solution?
Thank you!

Wierd issue with play store...

I have a 11 gen Amazon fire tablet 10.1 HD with fire toolbox. The problem that is driving me crazy is the play services message keeps coming up. Even though it is updated it says all the time I had this before but I feel like the fix always worked to me it just keeps coming back. I need some advice. I have installed and reinstall plenty times same error shows up. Always look at the play services app it is always up to date. I tried clearing the cache and every trick I could find no luck.
Is this a usual thing for fire toolbox or is it just me? Can one of you help me please.?
I'm having the same problem. I look forward to solutions too.
Ya hopefully bro..

I read on one of these sites that you should disable auto-updates for Amazon because the hybrid apps affect google apps.

I figured out a work around.. You were right I lt was auto update but Google play store.. I reset it and took auto update off and now it doesn't annoy me anymore every five seconds to update.. I only get the update message now when I try to link Google which is a major upgrade because I was ignoring it anyway.. So thanks
I never had auto updates turned on for the google play store and I got that notification once a day..hasn't happened since september 21, maybe they pushed an update that fixed some kind of issue we weren't aware of?

Google apps not working on mobile data

Hello,
I've a OP 8Pro running on Android 11 (11.0.9.9.IN11BBA), since the last hot fix with the recent security updates and fixes released by OP I'm facing an issue when using mobile data, if i try to browse google discover services I get the prompt as if i'm not connected to internet, then when trying to browse on google chrome i get the error "ERR_NO_SUPPORTED_PROXIES", however, if i open pages in private mode all is working fine, other services like WhatsApp or others apps are working fine and there is internet connection through 4G.
I tried clear up cache & data of google apps, reinstall google apps, reset default APN from the carrierr, reboots and other suggestions I've found browsing around forums but so far no luck... and is currently frustrating since common google things are not working.
Hello @pepi0
I have a One Plus 7 pro with Android 11 and I have the same problem. Did you found the solution?
Thanks a lot
Any news on this, I've got the same issue and alsoo tried everything the thread starter tried without luck
I've been struggling with this problem for more than a year and came up with the conclusion it has something to do with planned obsolescence or Oneplus phone.
My Android phone is 5 years old (Oneplus 5T) and I have the issue only with google apps. I've also tried to clear up cache & data of google apps, reinstall google apps, reset default APN from the carrierr, reboots and other suggestions but absolutely no change at all.
I found a temporary solution:
Whenever the app is not working, disable and enable mobile data and go back to the app .
It works for me for every google app but chrome.
I decided to buy a new phone with Black Friday and the issue is solved on the new phone, but I couldn't add any of my current credit cards to google wallet, because of a more annoying and unsolvable bug...
Since the new phone did not offer a huge User Experience difference from Oneplus I'm returming the phone and went back to my old OnePlus.
For the chrome issue I've decided to switch to another default browser and voilĂ !
Sorry it's not more helpful but hope it might be of any use...
Hey! It's me again!
Seeing that it seemed related to OnePlus phones from every message in the thread I just called OnePlus support and got the following troubleshooting:
1) Go to Google Play Store settings and set App Download preferences to "Ask me everytime"
2) Open Google Play Store App info, then reach the 3dots menu on the top right and uninstal updates.
3) It will ask if you want to replace the app with Factory Version. Tap Yes
4) Do the same for every Google App having issues
5) You might need to restart the phone or the apps won't work
The key is to NEVER update the apps again and make sure they wont update automatically. It's kind of annoying to say the least but (for now...) I won't have to buy another phone.

Hi, need to add that I've LG G8s, not an OnePlus. But the exact same symptoms. Reverting the GApps isn't a possibility for me, since LG rolled out 2 big updates, the last one before christimas, bringing the device to Android 12.
I tried several things the last months:
e.g. I tried the SIM card of my girlfriend, who has another provider, and everything worked on mobile data. So I asked my provider for a new SIM card, reset APN, no changes, no GApps working...
I then ended up hard resetting the device and installing everything from the scratch again, no change.
But I've made another interesting observation... Installing a VPN (WIndscribe) and connecting to it while on mobile data will make all GApps work again. As soon as I disconnect, the're offline again?!
So my conclusion as a noob, there must be some wrong settings (in the system, google dependent), which even with hard reset an APN reset aren't fixed. Any ideas?
