Whilst I am NOT defending Samsung and believe there is much to be improved, I do have the Mi 10 Pro with the Snapdragon 865 for a reference point. The Mi 10 Pro as you will be aware runs at 90hz and for me and my observations battery life is comparable and I'm running the ultra at 120hz.
As for performance & heat issues I decided to play an hour of PubG on the Ultra and another hour on the Mi 10 and again maybe slightly more heat on the Exynos but nothing to worry me personally. I can't say I noticed a difference in Gameplay but didn't run side by side or done a FPS count, that aspect I guess the 865 would lead, but I didn't have any issues on the Ultra in terms of playability.
I do recommend Samsung take notice and use ARM architecture on the Exynos 1000, and hope that this will resolve the complaints.
Maybe I got lucky with my chip, but honestly I can't complain as I'm not experiencing the issues that seem to plauge others.
Just showing and sharing my experience whist not defending the 990 entirely......:good:

Aswell as i.Same i didn't notice any issue.
Me too i don't deffend Samsung. But it is cruical that customer don't have any issues.
Put in side fps variation in games or better score in antutu it just isn't necessery for regular customer. He will not notice it.
I played games, record 4k 60fp 8k videos absolutley everyting also played games on charger because i wanted to know it there is any issue with thermal throtling or anything else.
And for camera with every update is better as well as battery life.I'm satisfied with my S20 Ultra Exynosm Brutal camera btw and brutal zoom
This is mine opinion after almost month with my phone.
Edit:
Also i updated myself camera app from 10.0.02.7 to 10.0.03.4 and its superfast shuter and auto focus.Overall its much much better.

Yeah I get the argument between performance of the 865 vs 990 and same price point. All I am saying is that I have seen threads saying the Cameras are Garbage, they really aren't, but yes should be better (Autofocus) which has improved for me.
The phone heats up, well I play long sessions of PubG and haven't noticed anything erratic.
I'm not debating the 990, I would also prefer the 865, but I'm most certainly not experiencing ALL of the aforementioned complaints in regards to this SOC.

I forgot something.Last year i had S10 plus exynos.Battery was garbage so i traded it for snapdragon version. It was better. But after fev weeks battery on exynos improved as well. And i notice that internet on my snap is slow.(Sim internet)And i tested it my friend he has galaxy s8 exynos and my s10 plus snap.We opened ookla test he got about 80mb/s i got about 25.we are on same carrier.I tryed couple of times again and i didn't got anytime above 30 so.for everyone that eant snap keep in mind this.Lower badwith as well as singal reception because we are in Europe which uses diffrent signal. One are on GSM another on CDMA.

There's a custom recovery now. Soon we'll see custom roms and kernels and both should improve performance/battery life for the exynos. Some, if not all SD will be stuck with Samsung updates forever..
Is there a way to install system apks like camera unrooted?
Personally i play pubg like 3 to 4 hours on one single time with my friends, framerates never drops and the phone is not hot like burning hot, its hot but normal.. as a référence i have thé iphone 11pro max heats more than my phone actually so i think its good..
Guys with positive feedback about exynos, where do you live? I live in Saudi and currently it's the best weather we had this year, and room temperature is 24°and my phone get warm during casual tasks and heats up really bad and drop frames while gaming (all of this while I'm on Wi-Fi), when I turn LTE it is much worse and much warmer, when I turn 5G it stay up for few minutes then heat up then fall back to 4G (I have excellent 5G and 4G signal)

I'm so tired of people falsely claiming exynos is fine in gaming.
You can see a lot of video proofs on YouTube that exynos is trash for gaming and there's no way it can maintain 60fps in pubg mobile for extended playing sessions
If you can't tell the difference between stable 60fps and frequent drop to 40fps it's your problem, don't say it's fine.
At this point I really want someone show me a video proof of exynos running pubg mobile at 60fps for 1 hour. Then I can shut my fxxk up. But until now I see none.

Tbh, the s series is not a gaming phone. Get a gaming phone for gaming.
There is more to life than gaming. There is no perfect phones out there. Each has its unique qualities.
Gaming phones don't take photo well.
To this date samsung phones, at least s and note series is a well balanced phone. Not the best on gaming, photos, ui.. But it's well balanced and do each rather well.
Not to mention the dual messenger and excellent audio it can reproduce.. If you have a decent headset. The adaptive sound is perfect when tuned using the headset of your choice and I have several.. And a profile set for each device. When i change i change the profile.

Guys, look at this
This is pathetic results for SD800. And the reason of so low bench results is absence of thermal pad on the SoC.
This was the case with first Nexus 4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/hardmod-nexus-4-investigating-thermal-t2144652, the same is with Nexus 5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...de-nexus-5s-throttling-solved-adding-t2627714 and the same goes to LGG2.
I mean, when I spend $600+ for expensive phone I want it perform better than competitors' ones, I mean Xperia Z1, Note 3, Xperia Z Ultra. I what my bang for the buck
What do you think? Would you buy G Pro 2 or LG G3 if they will lack thermal grease too?
Benchmarks mean nothing, the phone runs fine and quickly, games play fine at good frame rates, so its pointless doing this.
Transferring heat away from a components thats designed to handle it to a component that isnt is a bad idea. You may not think the screen is getting heated, but there a layers of very insulating glass between you and the LCD, you wont be aware just how warm it is. Heat affects LCDs, in time you might end up with a dark spot where the CPU is.

What exactly is the "bang for your buck" that you require? What does the G2 not do for you that the Note 3 or Z1 does that is so crucial to daily life?
Because if it is just benchmarks, then as mentioned above, they mean nothing.

the kk update killed the bench score, i think mine dropped like 10k.
Benchmarks are the worse thing to ever happen to android. You would think that the moto x with its "out of date" specs still running smoother then the s5 would prove once and for all that benchmark scores are pointless. I don't care if the note 3 or s5 put up record breaking omg wtf fml scores...it still lags and mine doesn't! Lol....

To add to this.... lets say you bought 2 cars. Both cost the same, one car says 700 hp, 0-60 in 3 seconds. The second car has 300 hp, 0-60 in 6 seconds. But once you get on the road, the 300 hp drives better, feels faster in every way and gets much better gas mileage. There's what's on paper, and there's real life.

i dont see it. my phone was snappy and fluid before the update, its the same now.
as for the benchmark comments. i agree to a degree that they dont mean a lot, but a 25-35% drop seems a bit extreme for an update.
seems like they boosted the benches to boost sales when it was new.
The fluidity and the battery are awesome. I love everything on that phone. Even if LG doesn't keep it updated it will still be one great phone that i own/ed...

I don't care bout benches, I care about what I paid for, and I use, as everyone else does, benches to prove that my item works as intended. Did you hear about lags when doing spherical panoramas? when phone overheats and process too long, longer than it must? It's the same story. Did you hear about "slow focus" in G2? Everybody did. Maybe it partly is because of early frequency drop, maybe not so.
And not only I care for benchmarks, look there http://blog.gsmarena.com/lg-g2-jelly-bean-vs-kitkat-benchmark-battle/

But you didn't pay for a device that guarantees you any particular score in artificially inflated benchmark tests though. No manufacturer will launch a device guaranteeing someone a set score all the time. So what is it that you think you should have that you haven't got now? I thin that is what we can't understand.

Man, I want it to not lag earlyer than do another smartphones. Did you hear of lags when playing Spiderman 2? I've heard that G2 is not capable of playing this recent new game smoothly, as device with SD800 should. OK I don't play Spiderman2 and did not by to play benchmarks, I only use benchmarks as examples that internally G2, Nexus 4, Nexus 5 do not constructed properly. And as I did http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2299888 when I complained of improper color temperatures of G Pro LG reacted and made G2 display perfectly calibrated and on par with HTC One and iPhone 5S. So I think that in future G3 they'll do something with SoC cooling and improve performance when gaming for long time

These things have nothing to do with benchmarks:
Did you hear about lags when doing spherical panoramas?Overheating can be many things, I have yet to find a phone that doesnt overheat sometimes. Usually a clean instal fixes this nicely. Its Android I guess and faulty install scenarios.
It's the same story. Did you hear about "slow focus" in G2? -> slow focus is the automatic focus, press on screen where you want focus and its almost instant. Google camera is pretty good. there are other settings that can tweak this.
That said, benchmarks in my opinion do nothing good for true user experience.
I do believe Android needs to step up on the user experience game as my comments above prove enough that this device, I say all android devices, need to much customization to be perfect. All these workarounds To fix these real issues that some users find anoying, not higher benchmarks are needed.
lol, and does kitkat score less in that? didnt see you post scores once with that nor found your arguments on it.Stop trolling yourself and post some proof then.
so my arguments from that standingpoint still hold.
I also couldnt find it featured on any major android website, wonder why.
the one benchmarktool I dont know, its only got 33 reviews, hardly antutu level. wonder if its representative.
This could be a benchmark that actually does measure some important stuff I am talking about. Interesting. thanks for sharing
omg the downloading is soo slow wow
ok ran the benchmark. but I am not impressed as it benchmarks with its own gui, not the actual phones gui. Also it doesnt benchmark the panorama shots or any camera shots for that matter.
I guess I wasnt wrong after all... sad was hoping big on this benchmarking tool to finally have a representative view of a gui from a user point of view.
People, so upsest with benchmarks, its not like its a gaming computer/server where you squeeze every bit of performance regardless of powerdraw etc, its a phone lol, and its smoother than before KitKat. Xperia Z is a good example of benchmarks vs sucking in real life ex horrible battery life....

Well, from the user point of view you should your Gallery scroll, Zoom scroll, list scroll results. The gallery scroll is what fubar in LG's UI. It scores around 35-37FPS, right? But on the Nexus it scores 50-55 fps or near. All other scrolls on LG are pretty near 60 fps, so as on every other smartphone and all right with them. But gallery scroll is bad. Did you use Tapatalk ever? Have you noticed when you try to swipe from right to left to open next page the tapatalk just stagger, hangs for .5sec, and then completes the move? It shouldn't, scroll must be buttery as is in HTC phones

OK, since you mentioned it I did that and got 2745 in HBOT Prime which is not too far off from the N5.
As for HTC I agree, since the One X days they have gone pretty far, they are probably best Android manufacturer at Battery/Performance optimization IMO, and Sony is the worst.
My HTC Butterfly (Int DNA) with 2000 mAh battery lasts longer than the Xperia Z (2330 mAh) per charge. Sony Exmor cameras in iPhone and Galaxy S4 perform better than the Z1. At least LG aren't like Sony.

So, well, at least it is for me to think over, is it something wrong with my unit or its just my latest ROM with knock code has bad optimization, and it will be improved in future. Or, maybe, my PVS of 3 has to do with too early heating of SoC than yours CPU. Maybe you have PVS of 0 or 1

please give some attention to these questions ... thank you very much
i dont like that the phone sounds hollow and the fact its intentionaly slowed or made worse than the Z3 (it is capable of doing the same as Z3 but sony makes it only able to reach half(unless you run a custom rom)
performance is epic, no problems at all aside asphalt 8 only app/game with any lag, rest of the games i play sit happy at 59fps
nice,,,

Congratulations, you've just completely lost your credibility!
Do you have evidence that the phone is "intentionally made slow" or it's just your shallow and limited thoughts?
Perhaps, you're trying to be a "hero", coming out with bizarre conspiracy theories that hold no water.
Maybe, you need to watch what you say and instead of spewing factless and defaming terms.
i think he want to say that the cpu is 2.3 GHz but its actual clock is much lower than this as with (i don't know if all) some samsung devices.
for example , my galaxy s2 is running too slow under medium load, but when i use custom kernel or over clock apps to run my cpu at its normal 1.2 GHz , the phone becomes fast very Obviously ! (battery drain, heat now & that's normal)
--------- this is what i know, but it maybe wrong !--------

nope, if you're rooted and install a CPU manager app, you can see their stock configuration, the max clock is 2265Mhz if i'm not wrong, and the minumum clock it's ~ 1190Mhz
so, even the Stock* ROMs don't let the CPU frequency fall to the minimum values

Do you have evidence that the phone is "intentionally made slow" or it's just your shallow and limited thoughts?
Perhaps, you're trying to be a "hero", coming out with bizarre conspiracy theories that hold no water.
Maybe, you need to watch what you say and instead of spewing factless and defaming terms.

explain this to me
Z3 - S801 AC, almost everything else the same as Z2
and yet Z2 cant get the same battery life and performance, somehow users of Z3 getting almost 8 hours of Screen on time and yet quite a few users showing they are finding it hard to get 6 hours
and performance is just strange, as of later firmwares the device doesnt get hot but monitoring my cpu and it just doesnt scale up at all so performance in some games is poor, e.g asphalt 8, sometimes real racing 3,
and then there is this, if you flash older firmwares it isnt that hard to hit 7 - 8 hours of SOT
i think its a tad suspicious that as you go through newer firmwares battery life gets worse till you hit .28 which makes it better
unless there is something else that is going on im sticking to my word,
there are a couple RCs i know who have Z3s and one that has both a Z2 and Z3 and yet they claim its easy to get around 6 hours SOT or more of Screen on time and no matter what i do and the Z2 users find it hard to pass that with a stock firmware and even the same with modified
i think that's just odd and there really isn't much other explanation
I'm not going to reply any reply post of this.
you can ask some of these Z3 owners your Self.
Performance is great like the entire Z2 !!
Just love it ^^
3GB is very good to let the device run smoothly with the light Sony UI and not ram eating touchwiz.
But dont use your phone as a game console, it is a phone !!
I can agree with Envious_Data here. It's not a conspiracy theory, its the sad truth.. Everytime a new flagship comes, the old flagship is made to look bad by giving buggy fw updates.. Then after a few months when the new flagship has made the sales as per their target estimation, they fix the buggy fw.. Its done to make the old flagship look dull so that it forces you to go for the new flagship which doesn't have such issues.. And this is not only done by sony, its done by all oem's.. You can look at the history by looking at what happened to Xperia S, Z, Sammy S3,S4,Note2,etc.. I'm just giving an example, there have been too many phones that I can't remember right now.. And yes, Z3 users easily get 6-8hrs of sot with 2 days of extreme usage.. While Z2 users get 4-5h sot on avg with medium usage for 2 days.. I get 6h sot with 19th time like once in 4 or 5 cycles from 100-0 despite my usage being very same.. It was like this on 4.4.4 167fw, same on every other fw except 4.4.2 initial fw..
Then we have two exceptional and unorthodox cases. Simple. Z2 and Z3 shares close to 100% similar firmware. You can easily look through the kernel source code which is shared between both the Z2 and Z3 and I do not see any codes that's pertaining to intentionally screwing up the system. You can easily find other people posting that their battery life and performance has improved, including me. Now, we have two exceptional ones.
Especially so, if you lack any hard evidence; codes and drivers that points to intentionally slowing down performance by 50% (I have no idea how you got that percentage) and purposefully draining battery, please stop making noise. Currently, your claim is nothing. It doesn't hold water at all.
Perhaps, it's time to lower down your ego and drop this baseless claims. It looks bad on XDA and especially you.
P. S. I have the Xperia Z; performance and RAM management has greatly improved on lollipop. Do you have the Xperia Z? No?
Yes, there's an initial battery drain, but as usual with all Android upgrades, it gets better overtime. Lol

Agree with you bro @lee480
Btw keep in mind people, that Sony make thier devices better and better and comparing devices is useless like compare the coming Z4 by an old X10i.. Totally useless, so keep realistic !!
I tiny thing that i want to add here peeps. is that Z2 is older so..simply the phone battery itself is getting weaker after the higher charging cycles every day or 2.(talking to the ppl who took thier z2's when they first got out to the stores(i mean yes, almost 1 year passed for me also)).Rly no point for arguing here.Still loving my z2 and i think it will wtill rock the world for 1 or 2 more years ( : It definitely worth every cent.
how are the camera & how much free memory you get when you just turn on the phone now (regardless how much social media apps running)....
Im a regular user. I dont see any problems with my Z2. Im loving every bit of it. For me its not slow, I never experience lags unlike Samsung phones (former S4/S5 user) even debloated. Though the phone heats up fast, esp when playing games and using camera. Sound is kinda soft even with sound mods. Im using eXistenz rom by niaboc. I guess thats all of it. I love my phone, its like a mini TV with a crisp display.
After owning it for one year now, these are the points I would like to see improved on my next phone:
1. This gets hot very quickly during gameplay and in camera mode. Next time I would look into a metal phone and see some heat tests before purchasing.
2. The camera on auto mode isn't so great, the focus isn't good on auto. And I know everyone says use manual, but sometimes you want to quickly snap a photo and not worry.
3. The bezels are too big, I understand that it's good for front facing speakers, but if you don't use your phone for listening via speakers, then it's a waste and makes it bulky.
4. Charging is slow compared to new devices with quick charge 2.0 and other technologies.
But all in all, it is a good device. The battery lasts a good length, it doesn't start lagging over time and the interface is near stock android.
I would recommend this over the s5 for sure, if you are looking into other phones, I would take the s6, g4 and z3 as the phones over this one. Otherwise it holds up against other models.
I love the look, the notification light and the button placement.
It runs like a champ and i have found no difference in smoothness of experience compared to my old nexus 5 (bought on release day). The only issue is heat, it runs fine on heavy titles like real racing at max settings but candy crush soda saga heats the cpu to 60c compared to idle of 39c. Not extremely warm like my g3's screen but still warm.
You all speak of heat issues, but be aware that for newest generations of smartphones, the issues are much more worse (I'm thinking especially of S810 powered phones).
The challenge for manufacters is now to find solutions to efficiently drain away the heat and to adjust adequately the thermal management of so powerful hot chips in so small devices.
Man, there's a whole lot of tinfoil in this thread.
everyone has his own desire..this phone is good and its really capable .if anyone have an overheating issues go pick S4 and check it out....Z2 is a really good device with good price and if you are facing charging issues buy a 2.0 charger it wont hurt trust me .
Hi Guys, i'm overall happy with my S7 Edge Exynos, but some games have big issues and i'm thinking on sell it and get another phone because i'm not sure this will be fixed. Just want ur feedback on what similar phone could be a good replacement.
thanks for ur opinion.
To my understanding the underlying issues on Games is the Software Optimisation on the Operating System.
Its heavily optimised for battery performance.
There is tweaks and methods to help increase the game response.
But i would imagine in time updates will perfect this, Its better having a device with Insane battery, Than a next Gen Mobile with massive battery drain.
Unfornatually regardless of what games i chuck at this, i have only ever had a couple of stutters and thats because of some heavy background tasks i forgot to close.
Yes been having this problem ever since, it wont be fixed its a kernel and DVFS software issue. A phone made for games that can gane at all...
I actually think the same thing i know G5 is better as it throttles less, iphone is the best phone for gaming, maybe the new P9 is good too, im in the same position
I find this odd as I'm not having any kind of lag or stutter on my Exynos S7E. A lot of people reported this issue on the SD variant though. Did you check if something was eating your RAM?
Thanks guys, can u try Need for speed no Limits and u'll see what im talking about...

Yes, especially nfs no limits, as its requirements are higher than every other possible games, but I also see small stutters on Real Racing 3 (starting at 60 fps then decreases to 40), however most saddening stutter occurs in Alto's Adventure as no real source was used for this game, still it stutters after 5 or 6 minutes. I can clearly say that this is nonsense, unless it is a software problem. To be clear about the stutter, it is more like an additional layer of software that also manipulates real time and game time, device tries to draw 60 frames per second, but in real time it takes couple of seconds.
yes too bad, i dont understand why a device almost 3-4 times higher benchmarks it's outperform in real gameplay, por example a P8 runs extremelly well this game a any other one... this disapoint me

Sorry for bad quality but check it out
The same fps boost wiem Got messege From messemger etc
P9 Haven thai same GPU like s7 exynos but p9 Have 4 core and s7 Have 12
I just give up to play Need for Speed No Limits on my S7 Edge Exynos. Is just impossible to play after 5 minutes.
Just as a information I played the same game on a old Galaxy S4 Mini witch has much lower hardware specs, and no problems at all. Samsung just lie when says a S7 is a phone for games

Been playing for 20 minutes with no lag of stuttering.

Really? it's ur S7 Edge Exynos or Snapdragon, seems to affect only Exynos.
To be honest I'm a little underwhelmed with the gaming speed of the XZ.
I only play one game, its a game in KIK called Galatronvs which is a basic Shootemup.
And to be honest , it is REALLY LAGGY on the XZ compared to the S6......The S6 stays smooth , doesn't judder, doesn't pause, doesn't jump.
All these things happen on the XZ as the game gets busier and there are more bullets and ships on the screen..ultimately i die because its becomes a slide show.
After reading all the articles about the Snapdragon 820 and the Adreno 530 I feel more than a little bit down that my two year old S6 with an Inhouse Mali-T760MP8 outperforms it.
Don't get me wrong, in day to day use it's a dream to use..I don't know what it is about Samsung that their hardware is so good but it translates so badly on software that using the phone feels like work rather than fun, even Swiftkey runs like crap on the Samsung.
I haven't tried any other phones yet, but my friend has just gotten a Google Pixel XL and he's going to let me install Kik and have a 30 minute game next week.
If it lags as well, I'd have to say either the Adreno 530 isn't all that good, or the game is terribly optimised.
Either way , at the moment I'm underwhelmed by my Platinum flagship phone gaming experience.

I really only play the one game called Galatronvs via the instant messaging app KIK.
my phone is unlocked, rooted and still on MM 39.0.A.3.30 because i want to still use Xposed Framework.
I don't use any stamina settings at all , they are always turned off, nor do i use any power saving apps such as greenify.
I don't even use a kernal control program that will let you route more processes into a single core thus saving battery.
Bluntly put, the phone is running at full speed with no power saving.
I would imagine unless you've moved from a different phone to your XZ and play the same games you wouldn't notice the difference..Also it would very much depend on the kind of game.
Any game thats not already pushing the old phone isn't going to show any difference on the XZ is it.
Galatron is an upwards scrolling shootemup that gets increasingly more difficult, more bullets , more ships ...thats when you notice the difference ..only when it really starts to get busy.
So i dunno, Guess I'll have more of an idea when i try the Pixel XL with the 821 and the Adreno 530...Though technically the 821 isn't supposed to impact gaming, just multitasking , better power usage etc.
I'll be spewin bickies if its much better , I really don't want the Pixel..it's a little too small and the XL is a little too big  ... And i hate using a phone without Xposed which i can't do with N

I compared the games with mate 9 for example,i think it is more fluid than mate 9. I ONLY use for games android N ,because android N on xz is much better than M in overall (battery and performace in particular). I think your version of firmware is the less optimized and old. What do you use xposed in particular? I have z2 and there i use often xposed. But on xz i stay so good with android n and latest firmware. And i don't care actually for root and xposed. Is fully stock.
I think you might be experiencing the same thing as me. This happens on all of the Xperia devices I've owned (Z2 Tablet, Z3, Z3C, and Z5.). My XZ is on order, and I'll be sure to test this again. Yes, benchmarks have about the same high scores as all the other flagships, but 3D games stutters on Xperia devices. I think most users are not able to notice it. Hardcore FPS PC gamers like myself would notice this easily.
Here's a thread I created on the Z3 forums a while back: https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/help/stuttering-games-t2949670 . There's a video in there with my Z3 and LG G2 playing Riptide GP 2.
I just learned to live it with since gaming is not my priority on my phone, and because I don't like all the other phones.
Honestly I'm not a hardcore gamer, I only play the one game Galatronvs via the KIK APP, it's basically a BOT game which is a downwardly scrolling shootemup... However you do compete online against other players.
And I've confirmed it's definitely a heat issue.
Sadly Sony were supposed to have solved their heating issues with the release of the snapdragon 20...but they haven't.
I can actively connect the lagginess of the game directly with the heat of the phone, the ambient heat of the room, and that you can feel the phone getting hotter and hotter in direct relation to how laggy it gets.
I've even been in the middle of a laggy game with the phone feeling very hot and deliberately moved in front of an air cooler with the back of the phone directly in the path of the cool air and had the lagging start to recede as the phone cools down.
I was given an opportunity to try a pixel xl on the same game in an air conditioned room and they were similar.
Then I went outside in the summer heat and the pixel stayed smooth, the Sony rapidly heated up and started to lag.
When you exit the game the Sony stays laggy for about 6 to 7 seconds.. I imagine this is as it cools down.
I love Sony phones, I love that they stick with standard HD screens for good battery life.
I love that they stick with the 5.2" screen... I don't have huge hands.
SwiftKey seems to work better on a Sony than on a Samsung definitely that's for sure.
Though to be honest I am always a little let down by Sony's cameras on their own phones.. It's like they make better lenses for everybody else.
The Samsung will focus INSTANTLY on something small and upclose... Like say... A windows 7 sticker (I'm a computer tech)... Whereas I have quite a lot of difficulty getting the Sony to focus up close.
I've just ordered a oneplus 3t which I'll root and put similar xposed framework modules and compare it to the XZ.
I'll update this for anybody that's interested.
let me say something about these issues...i had xperias before and now i own XZ wich i thought that it wouldnt have overheating problems like on the z5 but it still has some wierd isuues...for example:i ran a game and even when it got hot it worked smoothly and i was surprised and i sad well done sony or Qualcom LOL...so i was feeling happy and after 2 or 3 weeks of usage i get random lags even if the phone is just a little bit warm with no intence gaming yet but somehow the phone works good when its hot but lags when its cooler...this is so wierd...i dont know anymore whats going on with there phones but im seriously thinking of not buying xperia phones again...a guy at waranty sad to me that this is not overheating but its just heating and its up to sony and not them OMG.... i was so angry when he replied me in that way, that i was in the mood to hit that guy strait on the nose really.these phones are not cheap and im not letting them making me a fool.but at the end they will get me back becouse im a Sony fan and also love there design language...sick bastards
Even though I'm a huge nerd, I really did avoid smart phones.. Or even mobile phones for a long long time.. I hated the idea that somebody could contact me no matter where I was.. I didn't get my first smartphone till March 2012.
That was the Samsung Galaxy nexus now more commonly known as the Google nexus.
After that I got an LG G2 and a week later I bought a Sony Z1... And the very first thing I noticed was that even though the LG g2 and the Z1 were based on the same SOC... The Z1 felt vastly superior to use.. It felt faster and more responsive... But i ended up using the LG g2 due to its amazing battery life.
After that I got a Z3 which also had fantastic battery life and I kept that for numerous years till the Z3+ came out.
That was a bad decision.. I was an early adapter.. I wish I'd waited.
So I got an S6 edge.
Worst phone EVER.... The middle of the screen is so unresponsive.. That curve does not make perfect contact with the digitizer or whatever is underneath it.
So I got a S6 flat version... And still a terrible phone experience... Honestly the technology in Samsung phones is amazing... It's like their memory technology is twice as fast as the competition.
It's like comparing a computer with a hard drive to one with an SSD, but they're just let down by poor implementation of software.. It's hard to explain.
I love haptic feedback.. I can't type on a phone without it.
The Z1's haptic feedback was so amazing you could practically hear it across the room if you turned it up.. And if you kept pressing a button fast it's like it would set up a constant vibration..
Same for the Z3+, the Z3 had pretty average feedback as does the XZ I'm writing on now.
However the S6 has the worst feedback I've ever used on a phone.. It's a very high frequency.. It makes typing on the phone unpleasant, it makes using the navigation buttons unpleasant.. The S6 has issues with SwiftKey, yet SwiftKey worked flawlessly on the LG g2, Z1, Z3, Z3+ and the XZ.
So I've not really had that many brands of phones.. That's why I'm giving the Oneplus 3t a go... I've given Sony my loyalty and been burnt twice now.
I'm a big fan of notification lights so I won't go HTC since their too cheap to put a decent light in... And they hide it in the speaker grill.
I wish phone reviewers would review notification lights and feedback... There's more to a phone than how fast it launches a program or what the launcher looks like... There's how it "feels" to use as well.
Just my two cents worth on my thread.

Thanks for that info. I'll be sure to test for heat problems when I receive mines. Now I fear that I may have two problems when it comes to gaming, suttering and heat LOL.
I haven't had any heat problems with my current Z5 though. The only time was when recording in 4K during a heat wave (around 95F).
Meh the play store is still full of *****y games that weren't even optimised for the adreno 530, the phone has no fault, the 530 destroys not only the competition(in the same category), but especially older mobile GPUs, ask the dev to use his fingers to make a proper app, the XZ has no fault.
I play EA sport - UFC game (i think this is a first-classe game for smartphone, close to PS3 games graphic and textures!!!)
i see lag when conect charger and play this game... this is normal for any phone when actived soc thermal controll (I have galaxy S6 before XZ too!)
any phone have good performance in gaming is "iPhone" but i am ok with freedom in android platform
* sorry for my bad english...
i test some apps i don't if it s the case or not but most games are developed by unity3d!
they are fine on other phones! on xperia this is the similar issue between games that slowing down

sometimes im playing game in my xz but i dont have really issue in heating or laggy (my phone have nougat version)
maybe your issue because you are in MM, lets try to nougat.
or use custome rom.
I received my XZ (F8331) a few days ago. I don't seem to be experiencing any heat issues when it comes to gaming. Also the stuttering I mentioned for Xperia devices is now almost gone. It's still there, but it's so little that it doesn't bother me anymore.
I've only played 3 games so far:
Skyforce Reloaded
Riptide GP Renegade
Asphalt Extreme
Running the Stability Test app from the Play store, the XZ does throttle down much much sooner than my Z5 (the Z5's heatpipes seems to work really well), but that app puts all CPU cores on full load.
I'm curious about this game Galvatronvs you're playing. I'd like to see if it runs the same on my XZ. Could you point me in the right direction to download this game?

Hello ,
No problem here , i have try now about 30 minutes and no lag
Check my videos:
Recored the screen:
1:
2:
Okey i test with "game benchmark"
And no difference between S6 and XZ in game frame rate...
Asphalt8: get 30fps in both devices.
Zombi Highway 2: get 60fps in both devices.
From that test you find:
1) some games locked in lower frame rate, or bad optimized. (asphalt lock on 30fps, zombi highway lock on 60fps)
2) android use "vsync" lock the hardware for limitted fps. Adreno 530 is more powerful then mali T760 (and T880 too!). but there are some software limitations.
3) limited adreno 530 result: gpu not need all his power for reach to 60fps. In my Xperia XZ gpu never reach to 60% load, because not need more load for recive to 60fps.
4) from number#3: none overheating feel when compared with my galaxy s6! s6 need more gpu load for reach to 60fps and gpu core loading heat up the device.
5) unlock software limitations needs custom kernels, and risk of overheating and hardware damage! You don't need more than 60fps for mobile gaming.
6) bad news: Snapdragon 808 can reach to 60fps easily. You can only see "hardware war" between companies. When older SoC can do perfect the end-user works!
Would you say that the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Good speed, but not as fast as the regular S20. I don't do any heavy gaming, but some apps open slightly slower with the FE. Reduced RAM?
Just bought it and quite disappointed with its battery and speed
Using a Dual-SIM Exynos FE 6/128: G780F/DS.
Speed is great so far, but this is my first modern "flagship" phone though, so can't really compare it to anything.
Screen on time is not great though. 4.5 hours after a week of use.
I have no issues thus far with speed

very slow. I'm so disappointed. my note 10 was faster. despite the 120hz (which feels incredible) the inconsistency gives me literal actual nausea. the frame rate stays at 120hz for 0.2-0.5s at first during scrolling then drops down to 30-20fps... when I set it to 60hz it's obviously slower but i prefer it because it just feels more consistent. it's nicer on the eyes.. very sad and dissapointing.

It's 5g so I think it's snapdragon. My brother was the one who actually got it and said it but the package doesn't say 5g. The model number is G870f/ds. And had 128gb of storage and 8gb of ram
The major horrible lag went away after letting the phone sit on the table for some time. It was very new at the time. It still lags but it's usable now. It has the good old samsung/xiaomi (I never used a non samsung/xiaomi android phone since other phones are not available here) stuttering. When I scroll there's like 3-4 frames that daty stuck for 200-100ms. It's very noticable but nothing like the mess it was at first (I had literal nausea using it)
Is the snapdragon that much better really btw?
Overall the smoothness is nowhere near a 3 year old iphone x with 80% battery health (my brother uses his a ton.) But the higher refresh rate is sooo nice. It's hard to say which I prefer but the iphone feels better honestly
It's just sad to see a great 120hz panel ruined slightly by bad software

If you've just installed all the apps you're using on your new phone, of course it's going to take a few hours to days for everything to settle down, as well as a few other restarts. Then it only makes sense to comment on his behavior.
Installing everything you had on your previous phone at the same time is not the best course of action. By gradually adding one application at a time, you can more easily detect one that has a serious problem, for example, with the A11, or with the phone itself.
However, if you are lagging without installing other apps, something is completely wrong.

Strange. For me, my new Samsung (Snapdragon 865, 6/128GB) is the smoothest phone I've ever had. My previous phone was Asus ZenFone 6 (Snapdragon 855, 6/128GB).

I'm not sure what you mean by plugging but I installed cpu z and it's actually exynos ( it's been a day and a restart yesterday and honestly still. It lags but it's usable. I'll upload a video on youtube. If you're interested reply so I'll get a notification about it (it's gonna take a bit to upload)
Have you ever used a new iphone? Iphone x or newer. My iphone X was sooo smooth in comparison. Not to mention the far lower latency (input delay.) Overall the phone felt nicer on my eyes and brain to use despite the 60hz. But it wasn't as "fluid" as this one. But the consistency made up for it. And not to mention the thoughtful detailed animations that follow your fingers acceleration and speed etc.
I've been spoiled by an iphone x before and I'm quite sensitive to stutter tbh!
EDIT:
this is the s20 fe. now that I see it in slow motion it's embarrassingly awful. I'm uploading a slow motion of proper 120hz without stutter too.
> I installed cpu z and it's actually exynos
Then this wasn't true and you only have the 4G version (SM-G780F):

Yeah sadly the person at the store either made a mistake or lied to my brother. I wasn't there to confirm
But the video I attached shows the issues. It's outright embarrassing that samsung is this bad still. It takes actual skill to make such a fast processor this slow.
If you check my channel you can see what proper 120hz looks like in comparison. I was too lazy to attach the videos
activate your developer options @AmyTheBun by going to settings / about phone / software ...and tap on the build number 7 times in a row. this gives you an extra menu called developer options. inside that, near the top you'll see running services.
click running services after the phones has become slow and see what's using CPU and ram.
your phone performance is not normal. if it's not something like an old out of date app causing problems I'd take that phone back for a refund.

smart pass was on the top. nothing special was using too many resources.
the video was in slow-motion btw.
oh and mine is exynos... we have no other choice where I live. not even a single snapdragon model!
I had the 5g version of the fe, it was complete **** so much it was slow. I instantly sold it back. Lots of stuttering, my old s9 was feeling faster (in Android). I then tried the 4g version of the s20 fe (exynos) and was surprised by how snappy it was. The menus where opening quickly, swaping between apps was a breeze. I was impressed.
So there sure is a rat under the carpet with Samsung, maybe software problems, maybe cpu/hardware/chipset problems, maybe both.
I have the 5G/Snapdragon version (recent firmware) and it's fast enough. The 120 Hz screen is smooth, all apps running smoothly including those with heavy JS graphics, which were garbage on my previous phone, A6.
