It is very hard to find any Information on the ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1 X00TDB Modell, is there someone who knows more?
I cannot find a modell specific twrp recovery.img or any kind of Custom OS support
Maybe someone can show me how to compile them myself?
My Bootloader is already unlocked
When I try to install the unofficial X00TD recovery.img, I just get this error code:
PS C:\adb\unlock> fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.2-1-20180727-X00TD.img
Sending 'recovery' (58328 KB) FAILED (Write to device failed (Invalid argument))
fastboot: error: Command failed
For some reason my stock android recovery it says:
asus/WW_X00TD/ASUS_X00T_1
Is that normal?
Any advice is helpful, thanks in advance
*UPDATE: I solved it by disconnecting the phone, exexuting the bootloader flash command and after getting "waiting for device" plug the phone back in the computer.

+1 facing the same problem... Recently I found out it might be a port issue or a cable issue so i tried using my old laptop. Although it showed sending ok, writing ok but when i tried to get into recovery, it was the stock recovery. Try changing cables or using usb 2.0 ports. I didn't work for me but might work for you.
If possible please let me know how it went.
I have a bit different issue here
My phone is officially unlocked and updated to stock Pie 053
When I flash twrp via fastboot, it doesn't do anything, only blinking cursor
When I press ctrl+C to cancel it and reboot, it is still stock recovery

Here is the twrp which I'm trying to flash

Showing serial number of my phone like usual
When I entered "fastboot getvar all" it showed unlocked = yes
Is your CPU ryzen? If yes try it with another Intel CPU PC,and make sure you are enabled USB debugging in developer option and use USB 2.0 cable and port.
Hi so I've been tinkering with my Mediapad M3 to get 5ghz wifi to work on it. I got it to work but then I needed to unroot my system.
I used this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/how-to/how-to-to-stock-emui-5-0-flashing-twrp-t3679985 and now I'm stuck at the part where it says to flash the Vendor.img using the install tool in TWRP.
My problem is that there is no Vendor partition in TWRP to install the vendor image to. I'm using this version of twrp: twrp_BTV-W09_5_greatslon.img that I got from this forum: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m3/development/twrp-greatslon-mod-t3489232 It's the only version of twrp that I've found that works on my device.
All the other instructions work but I think without the vendor image the rest of the system won't work properly.
I've also tried to fastboot flash the vendor image and I get the following error message:
Writing 'vendor' FAILED (remote: 'Command not allowed') fastboot: error: Command failed
This is driving me nuts so any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

Check if you are entering the file name correctly with "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
Here in recovery.img instead of "recovery" write the filename of the recovery you downloaded.
Is your bootloader unlocked?
same problem here... can't seem find the solution. please help anybody. bootloader has been unlocked, all the name type correctly. but it just FAILED (Write tot device failed (Unknown error)) and the phone suddenly says press any key to shutdown.

Try this:
1. AMD Bug? - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/fix-fastboot-issues-on-ryzen-based-pcs.4186321/
2. Switch Device from "Charging" to "File Transfer" Mode
3. Install the latest Device Driver or Universal USB Driver - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=2188818919693784734
4. Placed the latest platform-tools with the Img File directly under the C Drive
5. Try another USB Cable
6. Use another USB Port (USB 3.0 Port to USB 2.0)
7. Try to execute Fastboot Command without connecting your Phone,
and once it says "waiting for device" plug in your USB Cable
8. Windows: Click "Change advanced power setting" on your chosen Plan and expand "USB Settings". Under "USB Settings" Section, expand "USB selective suspend setting" and change it to "Disabled" for On Battery and Plugged In.
9. Try another PC
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
I hope it helps (∩_∩)
I am using the OnePlus 7 port for zenfone max pro m1. I was trying to change my recovery from twrp to orange fox recovery but I was unable to do so. It gave me the following error
Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot flash recovery D:\recovery.img
target didn't report max-download-size
sending 'recovery' (28872 KB)...
FAILED (command write failed (No error))
finished. total time: 0.034s
I tried to flash the orange fox recovery image through twrp and it got flashed, since then my phone doesn't boot into recovery. it gets stuck at the asus logo. I tried to reset my phone to factory settings using the stock firmware but when i run the "flashall_AFT.bat" file, my phone shows the message "press any key to shutdown" and there is no progress in the command prompt window. Now I cant boot into recovery mood and cant flash anything through fastboot. Anyone has any idea on how to fix this issue?
If i get these message, i am sure, the usb-port is incompatible for the fastboot (maybe the usb3 and fastboot incompatibility, but i'm not sure). Try to use some old usb-hub between phone, and PC.
