[Urgent] How to activate Talkback when Screen isn't working? - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Hello Everyone, I recently dropped my Oneplus 5 and now the screen is broken and has turned complete black. Although i can't see anything but the screen is working. I try to pickup calls based on my guess as to where the call pickup button is, ask the google assistant to call my contacts.
Due to this Covid-19 Lockdown I can't get my screen repaired and this is causing the major problem. Hence I wanted to know how to activate Talkback on my device so that i might be able to navigate the device properly and get to change the User profile. (I have activated another user or guest profile by tapping here and there, I guess.) So, I just want to activate the Talkback Services. I have asked Google Assistant to turn on Talkback services but IDK it doesn't activate
I have USB debugging activated (If that helps) but somehow my device doesn't show up in 'ADB Devices' command in windows Command Prompt

maybe this could help , give it a try

Enter recovery/bootloader on LG Watch Urbane LTE (AW2.0)

Morning everyone,
Thank you for the curiosity in knowing what I require support in and I hope someone out there can help me resolve it.
I currently have an LG Watch Urbane LTE with AT&T And a couple of days ago I Installed Android wear 2.0 on the device.
Everything was working great until I started disabling system apps, one of which included Ambient mode.
As a result, my watch is now glitching. Every time I turn it on, the watch flickers as if it's trying to stay awake. I cannog access apps unless it's the Google assistant (not OK Google) and looking online for a solution hasn't been helpful.
Hell, I don't even know If it's even possible to access the recovery menu manually through buttons. In any case, the software side is definitely not working and attempting to unpaired the device with my android phone did nothing, the watch didn't allow m to confirm anything. Same goss for ADB.
Any type of support would be appreciated, last resort would be to contact LG and send the device in for repairs.

Did you enable developer mode so you can connect your watch to a computer and use adb to reboot to the bootloader (thus flash android wear 2.0 again)?

Not really, however I managed to fix it.
It was a pain, but thankfully I didn't give up!

Well what did you do to fix it. Someone may need the solution later. So please post what you did to resolve this.
Long press the mid button for several seconds to force restart your watch, when the LG logo appears, quickly slide screen from upper left to lower right corner, then it will get into fastboot menu, which means you could make a factory reset. (Chinese student poor English)

Help S7Edge Nougat - Two finger scroll/tap (talkback off) won't go away

Hi together,
just was able to update to upgrade to Nougat. (O2 Germany)
I just have one big problem. I have to control the screen like Talkback is activated. But it isn't. (two finger scroll, tap and so on)
Does anybody have an idea how I get rid of that really annoying thing? If possible without factory reset. My Phone isnt rooted.
My Google and forum search hasn't helped me. The answers were always turn off Talkback, which it is already.

I had the same problem yesterday after the update, took some time to change back to normal behavior: restarted in safe mode, changed the resolution back to WQHD, changed some accessibility settings, like turning it on for Nova Launcher and turn off optical reader (I don't know why it was turned on...). After that I restarted to normal and seemed to work ok but then I turned on the accessibility feature optical reader again, too see what it does and the screen was only with 2 finger operable again, so I turned it off.
You can disable/remove Talkback in the application settings. Try in safe mode if it's not possible in normal mode. I tried to change the Talkback settings in the system settings (searched for Talkback) and it said in a pop-up that it isn't compatible with the system, so I removed it completely.
Thank you so much norti!!!!!!!!! Had the same issue with S7 (T-Mobile USA), and your advice helped!!! Actually, it was the only one I could find so far
Thank you Norti
Thank you so much. I had the same problem after performing the software update over night last night. I was so frustrated with it and the techs at the sprint store spent an hour with my phone and could not fix it. The techs recommended that I back up all my contacts and everything and then do a factory reset. I did not want to do a factory reset and searched the internet for a long time before coming across your post. I turned off optical reader and it fixed the two finger problem. Thank you so much for sharing this as I would have been lost without it.
Exactly the same happened with my S7 edge, almost drove me crazy before I figured out that it was Optical reader in accessibility that caused the problem.
That worked
Thank you for the correct fix post. Optical Reader off did it for me, too. Spent all morning wading through "Cool features of Nougat" and getting ready to break my S7 while calls were coming in...

I figured that it had to be the optical reader as that was one of the incompatible apps it reinstalled after the upgrade. Had to use two fingers to get through most menu-options, frustrating, to manage to disable it. Glad to see I wasn't the only ripping my Hair out experiencing this issue. Hope they fix it.
For future reference (in German):
This works:

Lumia 950 to LG V20

Hi all,
My LG V20 is my first Android phone. I got it for a specific app (Drone controller) and to just give it a try and see what apps I am missing out on. I am having some problems figuring out how to accomplish a few things with the Android OS.
How do I prevent notifications from apps and the OS and screen timeouts from interrupting Maps while driving? I set the destination on the Map app and then plugged it into the charger in my car. It immediately popped up a "slow charging" notification that took the phone to the lock screen. I had to enter my PIN to unlock it. I then got an email that also switched to the lock screen. I realize that I can disable notifications on the lock screen but there must be a way to prevent this when running a specific app like Maps. The screen then timed out and I was unable to see the map.
Windows 10 Mobile has none of these problems. Notifications show up as a temporary banner and then go away. My Android phone will not retain my Screen Timeout setting. It constantly reverts to 30 sec. I am thinking this may be due to an Exchange account for work, but again, this did not happen on the Windows Phone. It is sad to see that the Windows Mobile platform has not succeeded. I think it is far superior in so many ways.
I have been trying to use Widgets to simulate the functionality that Live Tiles provides on the Windows Phone. So far, I am quite disappointed.
I have found that all phone sounds sometimes stop when I play music using the Groove app, even if I kill the app. I have to restart the phone to get them back.
Cortana on Windows 10 Mobile is much more powerful when connected to my car. You can "Call Cortana" and have all of her capabilities available by voice commands. I tried the Android Auto app but it is pretty much useless.
I still have the Lumia 950 and will probably swap the SIM between these phones until I can solve some of these issues.
Frequently it says that Fingerprint unlock is unavailable at random times. Why?

There is Something called "Do not disturb". You can access it by swiping down the status bar and it is found in the quicktools. Do a long press to configure it and it should block any notification from any other apps unless you whitelist the the app you want. After you properly configure it, it just take 1 press on the quicktool "do not disturb" to stop receiving popups notifications from other apps. If You car happens to have bluetooth or you have an fm transmitter(with bluetooth) you can activate smart lockscreen so that the device remains unlock as long as you are paired to the bluetooth (at least that's what i do because that feature is AMAZING! hands down to LG LOL)
My Android phone will not retain my Screen Timeout setting. It constantly reverts to 30 sec. I highly doubt that an Exchange account is the one causing the Screen timeout to go back to 30. Considering i have 2 gmails account, 1 hotmail account, and 1 account from my college all in the same V20. However, i just changed my screen time out to 2 min, 1 min, and 15 sec, and in all of them, i rebooted the phone, and my changes remain applied. Which leads me to believe that then there might be an app that you have installed that messes with the screen time out of the phone.
I have been trying to use Widgets to simulate the functionality that Live Tiles provides on the Windows Phone. So far, I am quite disappointed.
In androids we have something called launchers. and you will be amazed that you can simulate even windows 10 with such launcher. Now, for "x" and "y" reasons, youw will never get exactly what you want from the lumia to be on android. However, these launchers can help you to get as closer experience to windows as possible. Go to the playstore and type windows 10 launcher (for example). See if you like what they offer. Also, sometimes you have to find the right widgets for you, there are widgets that are animated, there are others that dont. Etc... Android is pretty much a world full of customizations for which you will have to do some digging into the playstore, settings, among other things.
I have found that all phone sounds sometimes stop when I play music using the Groove app, even if I kill the app. I have to restart the phone to get them back.
Now that's strange. My phone lowers the volume of the music app and makes the volume of the notification up so that i know i have a notification.
Cortana on Windows 10 Mobile is much more powerful when connected to my car. You can "Call Cortana" and have all of her capabilities available by voice commands. I tried the Android Auto app but it is pretty much useless.
Android uses google now. or the newest version Google Assistant for the LG V20 and other androids. After you configure the phone to use google you can even change the music when the screen is off by just saying "okay google next song", or do a call, or send a message, or look for a place and take you there, or turn on flashlight, or wifi or bluetooth, or even try the following. Ask google to sing you a song LOL you will love it, or ask for an uber. Google also allows you to wake up your locked device with your voice.
I still have the Lumia 950 and will probably swap the SIM between these phones until I can solve some of these issues.

Did you set up the fingerprint? if not that's weird, if you did then it still weird. Unless... you are pressing the power button in the back by mistake with your hand and not with the exact finger you unlock it with. Also, the power button has a plastic if it is brand new, i dont know if that does affect or not. I will look further into that

Lots of good information overall. Not the OP, but I'm in a similar boat. I got an LG K20, but it seems to work even worse than the V20, which I was considering switching to.
The biggest issue I'm having with switching from Windows Phone to Android is, Google Now is "OK", but Cortana is superior in many ways, especially on Windows Mobile. Google Now doesn't sync with my PC like Cortana does, and since I already use Cortana on my PC, there's really no substitute. I can use "Hey Cortana" when the app is open for hands free in my car, but I have to keep the app open in order to do so. It is helpful to know that I can keep the device unlocked while bluetooth is connected. That was a frustration with trying to use it in the car with my headset.

Why do you need to sync your phone with your pc? I mean whwt for specifically? Lets remember that google is not part of windows nor windows part of google. So 2 big different companies with practically speaking 2 entirely different points.
I have a 950 and I sympathize. I love wm10, but it doesn't have any apps. If Microsoft can fork in android so we can use the play store or sideload apps easily, then that would help tremendously. Sad thing is, they tried that and abandoned it. Now the us has less than 1% wm10 market. I love the 950 dam it. And none of the wm10 themes are worth a damn lol

welcome to the dark side. we've got cookies. (as they always say).
How do I prevent notifications from apps and the OS and screen timeouts from interrupting Maps while driving?
I'm surprised with the question. Because normally, the notifications only appears on the 2nd screen (small screen on top) and would not disturb your map.
I set the destination on the Map app and then plugged it into the charger in my car. It immediately popped up a "slow charging" notification that took the phone to the lock screen. I had to enter my PIN to unlock it. I then got an email that also switched to the lock screen. one way to do is that you need to turn on "Stay awake" in the "Developers Options". The setting will make the phone screen always on while it is plugged in to a charger. Go to "Settings > Developer Options" to turn it on. In case if you cannot find the "Developer Options" in the "Settings", you need to "Settings > About Phone > common > Software Info" and tap the "Build number" 5 times. that will enable the "Developer Options" in the Setting menu.
Windows 10 Mobile has none of these problems. Notifications show up as a temporary banner and then go away. My Android phone will not retain my Screen Timeout setting. well, that's quite strange coz it never happened to me. My screen timeout is 1 min and it always stays there.
I have been trying to use Widgets to simulate the functionality that Live Tiles provides on the Windows Phone. So far, I am quite disappointed.
Well, TBH, android users don't interested in LiveTiles much. (and it suck the battery a lot)
I have found that all phone sounds sometimes stop when I play music using the Groove app, even if I kill the app. I have to restart the phone to get them back.
Groove app? Do you mean the stock music app of LG V20? AFAIK, we don't have Microsoft Groove music player here. Maybe this issue has to do with the app. Pls try the stock "Music" player or Google "Play Music".
Cortana on Windows 10 Mobile is much more powerful when connected to my car. You can "Call Cortana" and have all of her capabilities available by voice commands. I tried the Android Auto app but it is pretty much useless.
Well, all u need to say is "OK Google"
I still have the Lumia 950 and will probably swap the SIM between these phones until I can solve some of these issues.
Frequently it says that Fingerprint unlock is unavailable at random times. Why?
I think it shows up when the phone cannot detect the fingerprint sensor. It should only happen when you just boot the phone (for some security reasons). The subsequent screen on/off shouldn't prevent you to use fingerprint sensor. if that happened, I'd suggest you to return the handset to LG.

Google Smart Lock still not working, lets find a way to make it work again.

Hey guys,
I had to reinstall my Note 8 yesterday, with the fact that (like many other note 8 users) my google smartlock isnt working anymore.
I had it working by accident, out of the blue the smartlock menu opened on my phone and let me choose my trusted locations.
Can`t figure out why it popped up, but it just did once without that i triggerd it.
Anyhow,i reinstalled my phone yesterday and its not working anymore so i really want it to work again.
I did some research this morning to find out which service/activity has to be opened to show the smart lock menu.
I found a that a few activities from the google play services open up parts/options from the smartlock menu, but the actual menu to select the option to add trusted places or activate the body detection.
The body detection can be activated manually if you use a activity launcher.
There has to be a way to activate/open up the menu for the smart lock settings, we only have to find it.
Anyone has an idea how we can manage it?
Any idea`s are welcome, maybe we can figure it out together.
I found out how it works, not by opening a service or an activity but how to trigger the smartlock menu.
First of all you need to activate google smartlock as trusted agent.
Then you go to google maps and set your home location, once you did that you have to unlock your phone multiple times.
I didnt count how much times you need to unlock your phone, but its a guess around 30 a 40 times could be some more could be some less.
You have to do it in your house location, while unlocking there is some kind of counter which counts how many times you unlocked your phone in your house.
After a while when your unlocking your phone the smartlock notification will pop up and tells you that you have unlocked your phone for in the house area for a dozen times.
It will allow you to click on it and set your location as trusted place.
Also it allows you to enable body protection, trusted devices, and trusted voice.
It happend to me yesterday while using the phone for a couple of times and i had to unlock it for a couple of times.
Be carefull, when you extit the menu there is no option to get it back again.
Well, only the next morning because the phone will prompt a message that the lock has been enable for not using the phone for 4 hours.
Thats the only time after the first time that you can change your settings.
Hope you guys are helped with this information.
Trusted Places.
Been playing with this this morning in the aftermath of flashing Lineage onto a Moto G phone and Nexus 7 tablet (great ROM BTW and my first foray into phone hacking !)
Despite appearing to set up correctly I found TP didn't actually work but I think I've come up with a fix which has worked on both the above devices plus a stock Sony Xperia Z2 and my OH's Nexus so that's 4 for 4 !
1. Go to Trusted Places
2. If you've already added a place then long touch it and edit, if not touch Add Trusted Place
3. When the map pops up touch it then on the full screen place a finger anywhere and move the map around under the pin a bit then position the blue dot under the X below the pin.
4. Now touch Update and it should come back with the exact address instead of GPS coordinates.
5. Now go back to Trusted Places and touch the location and check that it's turned on
That's it, you may get a warning message the first time you unlock afterwards but beyond that a simple up swipe from the lock screen should open it.
AAAAAA

Hi,
It only gave me On Body Detection and I enabled it but it doesn't work! Is there really no way to prompt it again? It really pisses me off, no Smart Lock in setting whatever i do... I just want my Dumbphone and Dumbwatch to work together so I don't have to unlock the phone 89789 times a day. I updated the Play Store Services, turned Trusted Agent on and off, rebooted the phone 1951951 times... I've been googling this for months and no solution... It's unbelievable to me that this issues persists for years and I can bet thousands of people wrote complaints to both Google and Huawei! And the worst part is, it used to work and it just stopped and disappeared for no reason at all... I don't want to root my phone as it is still under warranty and I don't want to lose it...
Thank you for any even potential help! Have a great day!

Voice match / Ok Google doesn't work

Hello, can't seem to manage to activate voice match, everytime I try and activate, I record my voice, but the slider stays greyed out. Clicking it just restarts the recording process all over again. Mi 9t bought in France, french language and global miui 10.3.7 here. Tried no screen lock, clearing Google app cache, rebooting, to no avail... Anyone could point me in the right direction to solve the issue?
Same problem for me.
Uninstalled the updates on Google app and working for now, weird. Doesn't work from screen off though, but that might be a feature the phone can't handle?

I think the k20 series has the qualcomm wcd9340 audio chip..which looking at their website it says it has support for always listening wake up voice commands from when the phone is off..I wonder if roms could make this function work unlike xiaomi..

That also did the trick for me. Had similar problems on Asus Zenpad tab, so I doubt it it's a feature the phone can't handle... Or maybe can't handle yet.
Edit: Well, just updated the Google app and now everything is working - Voice Match turns on, stays on and working. Pretty sure this was a Google fix.
Thanks, that work for me too.

But does the assistant gets triggered when the screen is off?
And can you change the hotword to "hey Google" instead of crappy "okay Google"?
To me it works on lock screen but not on Always on screen. When phone is locked try press once power button and talk. To me works if always on not activated or when I press power button without unlocking
Worked for me but not anymore after update
It never worked for me until around maybe 1- 2 weeks ago. (I randomly checked it one Day and the option wasnt blocked anymore, it worked perfectly) but after the 11.0.2 system update it doesn't work anymore...
The option voice match is blocked again.
I can tell from the last replies on this post users were able to use it. Is it still the same case after the update ??
Sorry for **** english (not my first language)
I have the same problem, although I own redmi K20 pro Chinese version...
I had the same problem, the Voice match would start loading and never stopped. After trying all the available solutions found on the internet, I tried the most simple one. I simply changed the system and Assistant language to English (US), and it magically worked. The default language before that was English (UK).
So, maybe just try to switch it to US and then reboot the smartphone.
I have the Mi 9T Pro, EU version (MIUI 11.0.3.)
