Leave G4 PLUS completely from the factory - Moto G4 Plus Questions & Answers

I need help
Well, I have not been able to use netflix for a long time, I was investigating and he told me that my equipment was not compatible.
After looking for help and reading a bit, I found an answer that said something about the modified versions and the re-registrations.
Also when having the botloader unlocked that ugly message comes out.
I have tested differences versions 8.1 stock and lineageos, the latter was working well on netflix but it did not finish closing.
I went to 8.1 stock and had serious notification issues, and I started having trouble watching netflix.
As of today I just wish to leave my computer completely restored and be able to use netflix.
Would anyone be able to help me?
I do not speak English, and if true each tutorial was a miracle to do it, sincerely I do not understand absolutely anything of what I am doing

Downgrading from JB to ICS

-STILL HAS SIGNAL PROBLEMS-
Hi guys. Im not exactly new but i think this is my first post, cos usually i don't have anything interesting to post.
Bit of backstory:
Had a razr i for a few months. Upgraded to JB, hated the removal of sleep mode and the pervasive fuzziness to it all (ics just seems much more crisp to me) and so decided to downgrade. Assumed peoples of xda had it figured out, ended up with complete refusal to connect to any mobile networks about an hour after boot, which meant i had to restart a lot, which meant crappy batt life. Tried to upgrade back to JB, bricked and dead. Is now a useful and attractive paperweight.
Bought another, fully intending to keep it on ics. Experienced some issues with software bugs, figured they would be sorted in JB, which they were. However, missed ICS. Searched youtube for a decent way to downgrade, found a video describing how to downgrade with a different method than i have seen anywhere on xda - editing xml file in the fastboot files, and then using rsd lite. Looked safe, tried, now rocking fully working ics exactly as it was when i bought it, save for now having an unlocked bootloader.
Title of video is Downgrade RAZR I XT890 do JB (4.1.2) para ICS (4.0.4)
(cannot link, technically new member lol)
Some instructions, because the video goes on unnecessarily :
Get the fastboot files (it says and links to brazil in vid, but i used GB Orange, which my phone came with, and it worked fine)
Extract
Edit xml with notepad++ as follows
Delete line with getvar max-download (My rom didnt have this line anyway)
Delete line that mentions flashing gpt
delete line that mentions flashing motoboot
save file
(Guy turns back into zip, but is unneeded)
Open xml with RSD lite
Install in fastboot
HUZZAH ICS
Try at your own risk, can only say that this suggests only gpt and/or motoboot are the files that affect the service required code corrupt message (which i got on my first razr i, with and without using the unbrick files on xda)
I dont understand any of what the guy is saying, but if you need to see it in action, the vid is on youtube, shows it very well and gets points clearly across
This is just about the only place i can post this so yeah
glhf, i take no credit or responsibility, i am but a wandering do-gooder and whatnot
have you tried it?

keep me informed cause I want to downgrade too but I am afraid of all those bricked devices
Is it still working great?
any news ?
any news on this ?
Bad news
While everything worked fine for a few days, the signal problems cropped up again, so i had to flash jellybean again in order to get a fully functioning phone. Absolutely stumped as to why these problems happen, looks like ics is off limits as far as i can see.

"New" comer here, I need some help please

Hey guys, I have been out of the android world for a couple of years, I would appreciate some guidance.
I I'm currently living in US
T-mobil
Model number: SM-G935T
Android version: 6.0.1
Updated right now
So my question is, since I don't have any backup or anything, can someone provide me with the steps to get me started? Like what post to root it on this specific carrier and how everything? please
Thanks

Of course we can get your started but see
But first you must answer us these question three.
Why do you want root?
Do you have a computer? (This is a must for root.)
Are you ready to be disappointed?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/how-to/how-to-root-s7-edge-t3410470
follow this (use odin to flash rooted kernel) ......you should search before posting things like this.....google is your friend bro.
GOOD LUCK - BTW use flash fire app in play store to make backups and flash roms
Okay okay.
A quick glance at T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Discussion would have led you to the "How to root the S7 EDGE" thread.
I'd take a look in there if I were you.

Well while I was waiting I just rooted it. So what do you think that would be the next step towards installing a rom? To answer your survey questions  :
1- Because a phone without being rooted is like a bird without wins.
2- I do
3- Oh well... tell me more

Well then.
Rooting the phone (as I'm sure you had already found out) was fairly easy.
BUT... since we do not have an unlocked bootloader then we cannot have any custom recovery. Which means we can only (for now) use adb and Fireflash to flash any custom firmwares. And while we're on the subject of that... there is only one custom rom. Well... technically there are two but only one for you since you updated to the latest firmware.
Echoe ROM which was updated (ummm...) September 9th (not including the Verizon version which might work but with no promises)
Tekxv2 which was updated back in July. Unfortunately, that is flashed by adb (computer required) and only supports G935TUVS3APD8 which is... pretty old.
Things that you may notice with root.
Battery life may be shorter.
Strange icons on your status bar.
Might start to have random reboots for absolutely no reason.
Can't use Samsung Pay and some other apps.
Phone might be laggy.
Phone might feel hot.
Some of those can be resolved by flashing the only custom rom that we have (Echoe ROM... which is a rather nice rom) but it's not "there" yet.
Or you can use the guide in my signature to resolve issues like the lag and the strange icons. Yet even after the "fix" you might still experience both again from time to time.
You might even have the IMS force close issue which I used to get about once a month. It would piss me off because no sooner that you click the button, it'll pop up again and you don't have time to do anything. You're pretty much forced to reflash stock, wipe, re-root, restore a latest backup... which can take hours and is rather inconvenient if it happens to you while you're at work like it always seemed to happen for me.
SO...
All in all... root is okay. It's better than nothing I suppose. But until we get more developer support for this phone then in my opinion it's kinda pointless in my opinion.
Too many drawbacks. I eventually unrooted two weeks ago and I love my phone now. I'm using the heck out of Samsung Pay especially since their promotions are pretty nice right now! Plus a few members are testing the Nouget update which probably won't be getting root at all since rooting requires an engineering kernel which we don't have and might not get. Or an unlocked bootloader which we've pretty much given up on.
A lot of members that are testing the Nouget beta firmware are extremely satisfied with it so if we can't root Nouget then having a rooted S7 will probably fade away as more people update to Android 7+. That's where I see this going anyway.

So for what I understood the dev support for this phone is very limited... I know the issues I may encounter, I had them with the galaxy note. but any way... If something I'll unroot it but I want to try it out Thank for you time. I've rooted it.
EDIT: Damn... I really don't like the visual style of Echoe... is that one the only one I can flash??

How are you doing with the ads? Like youtube, pandora, spotify? I just installed xposed and the phone feels very hot, and If I unroot it (which I'm thinking to do) I won't be able to get things without ads (I know about vpns and browsers). Also how can I install teaks for apps? Installing apks from pages that promise you this and you have to log in is very untruthful. Any suggestions to all this?

I just put up with them.
In all reality, I don't use my phone for the purposes that require my viewing of ads to begin with.
Sure when I was rooted I had adblocker. But honestly, I had completely forgotten all about that benefit of being rooted until now.
I suppose if you absolutely need to be rid of ads then by all means, retain root. However ads don't effect my daily use one bit.

You're probably trying to flash a firmware with a V3 bootloader over G935TTMB4APK1.
If you were seriously following that (outdated) guide step by step then you tried flashing TMB_G935TUVU3APG1.zip over a PK1 firmware. Yeah... that doesn't work.
Download the latest firmware from sammmobile.
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G935T/
Try it again.
IF that doesn't work... try using Smart Switch.
I haven't done it before but I think it's the Emergency Software Recovery and Initialization.

You have no idea the help you gave me. I went to sammobil before but since it said that the download speed was too slow, I didn't do it through that page. Now I did it and it's working fine thanks bro.
But when I start it, it says: custom in the log in, how can I totally put it original?

You should flash everything.
BL= Bootloader (which should be V4 since you updated to the latest firmware already. Anything less than V4 will fail.)
AP= Is for System, Cache, kernel, etc.
CP= Is for modems
CSC is for your HOME_CSC_TMB_G935TTMB4APK1_CL9507190_QB11413830_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 file.
Important! If you use the CSC_TMB_G935TTMB4APK1_CL9507190_QB11413830_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 (doesn't have the word "HOME" in the name) then it'll wipe your phone!
If your phone still says "CUSTOM" on it then make sure that reboot and check again. If it still says custom then make sure that you don't still have the engineering kernel. Re-flash the AP files again if so. It shouldn't though if it's 100% stock. Also note if you saw the unlocked padlock on the S7 Edge splash screen (before the bootanimation).
Good luck and happy New Year.

Pokemon Go with Fake GPS on the S5 Verizon

Hi,
I bought a used a Verizon S5 hoping to play PoGo using Fake GPS. But I am unable to select a Fake GPS app in Settings. I am currently on 5.0 (version ending in BPB1) and checking for software updates on the phone fails. Presumably because I do not have a SIM in the phone as I would like to continue to use my iPhone. The S5 would be only on Wifi (or iPhone's hotspot) and used only to play PoGo.
I have read through (most of) the painiac's (excellent) guide and I am trying to decide what to do next:
1. Try to install marshmallow update (no root) and see if the option to select the fake GPS appears in settings
2. Root the phone and try several custom ROM's to see if the option appears
3. Sell the phone back and try another phone
I have flashed custom ROM's with older Android phones some 3 years ago. Modding scene has considerably changed since then and I find myself reading warnings and seeing dead ends (permanently locked bootloaders etc) everywhere. Any advice would be appreciated.
Let me rephrase the question. I can update to marshmallow 6.0 with images available on the internet. I will lose the ability to root the phone. But I may be able to run fake gps and play pokemon go.
Or I can try rooting it and then installing xposed or other frameworks to get the set up on lollipop 5.0 - which is root-able.
Which would be the recommended way for someone like me with mediocre android hacking skills and very little time?
Thanks.
Marshmallow will give you the option to make Fake GPS the default mock application.
However, Pokemon Go will not run on rooted devices unless you know of a workaround for that.

you've come to the right person asking this stuff lol I used to cover all that stuff daily on my yt channel. gained 2400 subs in 3 weeks due to posting my vids on other sites that allowed pogo hacks to be posted. was doing 3-4 vids a day.
AOSP based roms will not work on Pokemon Go. That leaves out anything like Cyanogenmod or anything compiled from it.
The only way i got POGO to work on my spare s5 (i use it for testing) was to flash back stock NI2, re-root with towel root, flash a TouchWiz based rom with SafeStrap, then delete the Root binary and anything SU related, basically unrooting my rom and backing it up manually and only putting em back when it was needed
There's probably better ways now, but for me this worked 100%
POGO isn't worth the effort in my opinion.

Thanks so much. I am currently not rooted and when I go to MM I cannot be rooted from what I understand. So I think I will do the upgrade when I have some time. I will lose the ability to root but I can live with that.

I agree on the effort comment, but I am not sure why you are rooting the device if it does not work on rooted devices? Wouldn't it be a lot easier to stay un-rooted and keep it simple and stupid?
Also, can anyone point me to a legit MM stock ROM? I have downloaded ODIN but I am nervous about the sketchy websites needing registration for downloading the ROM image. I need stock un-rooted Verizon ROM so I was thinking it should be easy to find. However I am not having much luck on the Googles.
Using Magisk 10.2 and the root bundled with it works. You just have to use Magisk hide which is now bundled with magisk.
I'm on vzw s5 running phoenix rom with root. Can still play pogo. No luck on xposed though.
Just a quick update. I got all the things in place for updating the phone to Marshmallow 6.0 and connected the phone to the computer for the first time. The phone gave me messages about installing software update agent and I followed the instructions. It offered to install the marshmallow update from verizon and I took that offer.
After the update, the option to select a GPS app showed up on the phone. I selected my installed app and almost everything works on pokemon go now.
I say almost because PoGo still jumps back to home location for a short second from time to time. But from what I can tell, the fix needs root. So I'll just leave good enough alone for now.
Thanks for all the help.

Anyone know how to get fake gps working on iphone full process please and stable working. I need to know full method which includes what jailbreak is best, what iphone versions are best and easy to do. Also how to disable or turn off mock location detection. Beginner's Guide?

Hey guys, so I plan on getting this phone within the next month and I want to be prepared to unlock the bootloader and install magisk as soon as I get it. The guides I've looked at just jump right into it without explaining anything. What are the best up-to-date guides for bootloader unlocking and custom recovery installing? Thanks for any help!

you need to know that there are 3 versions of the phone. A2017 (chinese), A2017G (intl) and A2017U (USA). I don't really know the exact differences, but keep in mind that the A2017U has probably the best support and has the most ROMs and kernels and stuff available. The A2017 comes, from what I've heard, with a recovery in Chinese. And the A2017G has development and stuff but you definitely want to avoid bricking it (DFU mode might need you to disassemble the phone). Besides from that the guides are well written, for example the one I used for my A2017G was okay (from Controllerboy). Everything's explained. If you find something that's not evident send the guide link here and ask.
I just got this phone today too. Man I don't see why anyone's even rooting this... It's working great for me. I spent a couple hours in settings, setting up Nova, and all that, and I'm really amazed by this phone. Stock Antutu and it's scoring 155k! Very fluid phone too. I got scared during delivery, because I started reading horror stories about this phone, and development it seems like there's always something broken or not working correctly. I really really don't see the need to mess with the software one bit! I would recommend sticking with stock just to see how you enjoy it, before taking any risks. I used to be a flashaholic, but after marshmallow, the need isn't really there anymore. Android has become so smooth, rooting has lost most of its novelty. At least that's my opinion.

There are a lot of reasons to root it. Maybe you are just used to the Cyanogenmod ROMs ans don't want to use any of the proprietary ROMs and Launchers. XPosed Framework, adblock, VPN, custom CA Certificates and Linux arm with VNC in the background are only some of hundreds of reasons to root your phone.

No need for any guides just use my toolkit: https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/tool-axon7toolkit-t3573108

There are obviously reasons for root, BUT i am with you on this one. I have personally not found a reason to root yet. And that means a lot coming from me, as i am a real ROM-whore and update-slut. The firmware suits my needs perfectly, i have a 2017U with firmware B029 installed. Oh and do check @bkores tookit! It rocks!

Hey does your rootkit work with a phone that can't access adb? Like I was looking at the EDL method of returning my Axon 7 to stock for an RMA exchange. I am exchanging it because mtp/quick charge/adb does not work anymore. Fastboot still works.

The bootloader unlock and restore stock options both use EDL.

I've had this problem before. It's because I updated an "N" version of Windows without installing the latest media feature pack. If you have an "N" version of Windows, make sure to install the media feature pack.

I am aware of that issue but this is something else. Quick charge doesn't work at all and adb doesn't either. In fact a buddy of mine plugged his Axon into my computer and it worked just fine so..
I just got this phone today and it came with 6.0.1 MM B29. I am pretty impressed by the features that ZTE has added in to their stock UI. I hear that has gotten better with the N updates.
If I OTA update bone stock to N B25 and decide I miss root, I can go back and downgrade to N B19 via various methods and unlock the bootloader, install TWRP, root, and custom ROM etc?

Ready to flash my AXON 7 with Lineage OS 15.1 ... almost.

Man I have read a ton and I am pretty much ready to install my first custom ROM (especially since ZTE seems to be done and thus no more official updates). I have a couple questions though that I was hoping somebody would indulge.
- After installing the latest gapp will I be able to update the apps via the play store properly? I know I had los installed on a tablet back in the day and most of the apps wouldn't update (was never sure if that was my error or by design).
- If there are potential issues that I couldn't live with ... how difficult of a process will it be to return to stock? What traces will there be that I had installed a custom rom at one point in time?
The HTC One M8 was the last phone that I actively maintained custom roms and flashed on a regular basis. I'm a little rusty.
Thank you to whoever takes the time to help me out! Much appreciated!

I've been on 15.1 since release, it's pretty good, still a couple of niggles but mostly good.
Yep GApps update, I installed the Aroma package, I like the pixel launcher and Google dialer etc. All updating fine.
I haven't done this but I believe you download an EDL package and flash that with the EDL tool, should put you straight back to stock.

Thank you for the quick reply!
Yeah using the google dialer and camera app are the ones I am most looking forward to using. I used to use the dialer on my One M8 and I loved it. Have you tried Google Pay? I would assume that as long as I don't root I should be able to use whatever.
I read somebody having trouble with installing Netflix from the play store stating that they got the message that it wasn't compatible with their device. Have you experienced anything like this? I remember running into this from time to time with some past custom roms where the device ID wouldn't show up properly and caused some perceived incompatibility. Do you know what device the AXON 7 shows up as once it has the custom rom installed on it?
Thanks again!

That's a problem from the past. Use Magisk and you'll be fine.
The phone shows as "ZTE Axon 7" and the model will be changed to A2017U. Don't worry, but remember that your phone is still whatever model it was, i.e. keep using whatever modem corresponds
If Netflix doesn't appear just download the apk from somewhere else, but it should appear anyways if you install Magisk and it passes safetynet (after you do, just hit the "check safetynet" button
