Ease of use is great and nice for a budget phone and specs are nice compared to older Galaxy S7 Edge I use to have. Now, that budget phones are better than the S7 Edge, and starting to pass Galaxy S8 and above for prices.
The issue I have and can't find anywhere but would like to know how to fix, is the recent apps, when having any more than 3 apps, it starts to kick out apps out of recent apps automatically for no reason at all. I have never had this problem with Samsung devices but the TCL device does this and no setting works to stop that from happening. Battery Optimization to not optimize apps does nothing. The parental control is not even set. I think it is specific setting or something TCL did to the software, and no way to fix it. Would like to know how to keep apps I want in recent apps to actually stay when not doing anything to remove them. They just disappear when going back into recent apps, and have to reopen app because of this. It is annoying.

The whorst purchase in 2018. Rating 2.5. will be beautiful in my closed, only this.
Got one as a backup phone and for the price is excellent. (bare in mind this is and entry level device... the lowest tier on Android devices, do not expect to be amazed!).
The SoC performs very well and even under heavy load does not warm too much, Android comes almost vanilla and so far just go 2 security updates. No bloatware, no nothing. Screen is small but very responsive.
Very fast response even on app switching, good mic and speaker, small to fit in any pocket and you actually can use chrome with a good performance.
Now the camera is entry level quality (still better than the ones on Vodafone brand devices with the same price tag), the screen is bellow HD and of course small and you will need an SDcard because it only has about 4.5GiB available in the eMMC.
For the price this will do wonders imho.
Phone is very compact and very easy for single handed usage.
stock android with nokia promise of software updates
Its all you can expect from this.
Very slow interface, very bad camera.

Poor RAM management
I find that apps need to reload very often. I am using the 3G 32GB USA version of the phone. Coming from a Moto X4 with similar specs, I don't find this phone very good at managing apps in memory.

I think the Nokia is a tad aggressive - it even manages to close my Calimoto app while I'm navigating (with the screen off, using only bluetooth audio). I haven't found out how to get rid of this behaviour (it doesn't happen with, for instance, google maps)
Entire user experience is very jerky compared to my Pixel XL and Nexus 5X
Makes me what Nokia is doing with their firmware considering the hardware in the 6.1 should be more than capable of handling stock android

$100 phones are smoother than this POS
Which model? I have the 4/64 and everything has been smooth.
I have 3/32 and camera performance Suck with third party software
Using a 3GB/32GB model and Ram management on this device is very agressive apps load very often it barely keeps 1/2 apps in memory and app opening times are also long. Average memory usage on my device is only 62% ? I wish they handled the Ram better and it would have been a great experience with this beautiful device. Stock experience shouldn't be this sluggish. Otherwise the device is good just need software improvements.
Is there any solution for this poor memory management?
Well the issue about the ram management was quite annoying but as far i can see it has been fixed with the January Security Patch update.. I am using 3gb Ram variant and can switch between my apps which i am currently using at a time without any issues.. You can't expect greatness but your day to day tasks can now be done with relative ease..
I'm having this issue still. If I'm in something like Pokemon Go, and I switch to Messaging to reply to someone, and switch back, it has to reload the whole game. My Huawei Honor 7X handles this no problem, and it's got very similar specs.

Tbh its not the hardware that's the issue here. Its the software. Switch to omni and that issue will go away

Overall speed

Would you say that the Vivo Nex is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Vivo Nex exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?

I'm coming from years of using Windows Phone. My first phone was the Lumia Icon. This is my second Android phone since the Samsung S3. For now I find this phone zippy fast. No lag anywhere other than the fingerprint scanner, which finds itself not registering my thumb after a while. I've installed the usual Microsoft apps from my Windows Phone experience on this phone. I find they work better with Android than in Microsoft's own environment. I don't play games on the phone, so I can't say much about that. But other than game speed, this phone is responsive when opening any app or setting. I didn't uninstall any Vivo apps. I just set my defaults to my edge browser, outlook, Cortana and all Microsoft apps i used from my previous phone. When it comes to setting reminders, I find Cortana to be much quicker in setting one up.
The one thing I find about Android is you have to take more steps in completing a task than in a Microsoft phone. You have to have used a Windows Phone to understand what I'm talking about. An example is pinning a most used Settings shortcut to your Home screen. You could pin a Settings shortcut directly to your home screen in Windows Phone with no additional help from a third party app.
My biggest complaint with the Vivo NEX is the fingerprint scanner's flaky response when I need access to the phone.
What a beast
synthetic benchmarks aside, I am very impressed by the software performance, I use the fastest animation speed in dev options 0.5x. For me its totally lag free, no micro lag, it is the fastest device I have tried. I did try the Note 9 and this feels a lot faster.
While especially the Chinese version contain "bloat" it does not slow down the system, people often confuse bloat with lag or performance problems but this is as fast as 845 gets, I think funtouch is underrated. Personally I prefer the style instead of Vanilla, I prefer transparent UI like iOS it looks more timeless and less dated to me. Windows has it and Linux etc.. Google dont care to introduce transparent UI elements cause all people would call them iOS rip off..I just think they should do it, transperent looks mordern and timeless and dynamic.
It's pretty fast, I turned the animations off so I have no lag. It's not as fast as the IPhone X or note 9 but it's fast enough.
J7
This is faster than the iPhone X, and by quite a bit. I'm not sure what the poster was referring to, but this phone absolutely destroys the X in terms of performance. The X can't even support HDR videos on YouTube.
Nex S is a beauty and a beast in one body, so fast, the camera is now perfect (with gcam ported, it beat the Huawei P20 Pro in low light !) and gaming is so smooth, i have nothing to complaint, the oled display is top notch (without a notch )
good

On MIUI 11, camera carousel can only swipe one mode at a time, tapping on a mode allows for a jump but going to pro requires 2-3 taps, which is annoying.
Other than that, I think the camera is easy to use.
As a plus, it has focus peaking in manual mode!

Wrong thread.
Try questions and answers, or discussion, there's a whole thread about the global miui12 and I started one about the Indian just this morning..
Problem resolved
my grandma can easily use it. except she accidentally dropped it. thank god that day i decided to use a sturdy case for it. i normally have my phone naked with just a screen protector.
Used for over a year. During this time, the smartphone rebooted on its own and went into perpetual download. I tried to update the firmware, so after that Google payment did not work. It was global version. In the end, I got tired and switched back to Samsung.

Overall love

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Huawei P40 Pro+, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Huawei P40 Pro+ is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.

I've used both the P40 pro and P40 pro+ at the same time.
They're identical in build and even though the + models are backed in Ceramic rather than Glass, you can't distinguish between them unless you get the white ceramic. Black ceramic is identical to the black glass finish.
The only other differences are the internal memory size and the camera setup.
I'm not even sure yet if the plus' camera setup and double storage is worth the extra £500.
Looking back, I'm not sure what got into me when I bought the P40 Pro+, although there are some great things about it.
The cameras are excellent, and I'd rate them way higher than Apple's offerings. The overall feel is nice, and the ceramic back is worthy of a flagship. Overall, the hardware is where this phone shines.
On the software side, I don't even care about the lack of Google stuff so much, m apart from access to the Play Store, which does make life more difficult and less secure. What really gets me, though, is just that: security issues. I've never owned a phone that is so greedy with permissions and sending data to servers all over the globe. I installed a firewall and haven't dared use the phone as my daily device since.
If anyone wants more info on this, I'll be happy to share.

ive got the p40 pro and was thinking of upgrading to the plus for the extra spec in camera ,storage and performance. after everything started kicking off in the US and UK i did my research and found that they have a certification in data security (CSA Star i think), plus the guy in my local Store told me about the 4 different checks they do on the AppGallery apps i just tend to now watch the apps i download.
here are the links i found:

Thanks for the links! I'm not so worried about the apps so much as just the amount of data trying to leave my phone to a variety of IP addresses. Might be an Android thing, though - I've been in the Apple ecosystem since the Galaxy S3 so I'm readjusting. The Pro+ really ticks a lot of boxes for me, now I've just got to secure it properly.
The Huawei P40 series adopts a new design that combines technology and fashion. The four-curved overflow screen looks full of tension, as if the edge of the fluid is full without overflow, and the visual perception is very good. The Huawei P40 series also uses a huge streamlined R angle to bring Better grip and excellent aesthetic form.

Most chinese devices, if not all, send huge ammounts of data, even if let untouched the whole day, if you install a firewall like adguard, you can see the insane number of connections to a very huge list of ip, some recognizable, others not so, the problem, apart from the privacy, is the data charges in the monthly bill, this behaviour is a curse for users of chinese devices, not to mention the embedded ads some brands unashamedly put in their firmwares, but, in the end, who wants/likes/desires the chinese way of things, well… there it is
