Hey Texas, I'm not sure how old your battery is. But if your battery is on the fritz it could be losing voltage in your phone will shut down. I think you'll normally get a bad battery warning but I'm not positive. I'm using Alpha Oreo 1.3.1 with MK 2000 version 2.2 kernel. And have not had any random reboot problems. On the contrary. It has been extremely stable and I'm getting extremely good battery life especially with greenify. Normally 24 to 27 hours on a full charge. With anywhere from 3 1/2 to 6 hours of screen time.

Epic shut down while charging? Missed alarm. Frozen rom1.1.0

So my epic is flashed with the frozen 1.1.0 rom with vision kernal and the keyboard type fix.
Yesterday I was playing with over clocking and it locked up. And a few hours later I had problems with force closes. I cleared cache and delvik cache and reloaded all three things again. She seemed to work fine. But when I missed my alarm clock for work it had shut down over night while charging? And After 3 short phone calls and 2 hours it dropped to 75% battery.
She seems to be working fine right now. I'm going to do a full charge and see what my battery looks like.
My big concern is the phone shutting of while charging.
Thanks,
Brandon

Mine spontaneously power cycles while sitting on the desk. Ive never had a missed alarm. But i think there is a buried bug somewhere that FC's google system and/or processes. Ive had to reflash mine and factory reset 3x. But to koNane's defense, it is YOU that chose to flash this! Remember the disclaimer? Sorry dude, don't stress, the ROM's keep getting better. You gotta admit! Its pretty [email protected] fast and clean. Download the app "Desk Clock". Ive never had any issues with it. Ever
I know thats the risk when doing roms. I never said I was blaming anyone.
I was just wondering if there was a known issue with it shutting off at all.
I could have been a fluke thing. I don't know.
I've had my phone shut down on me while charging with ACS SRF 1.1.0 as well. Genocide kernel 1.0. No over clock, no undervolt and minimum step set to 200.
It shuts down when charging. If I'm not charging I get spontaneous reboots every now and then.
I have never had the random reboot while unplugged. Just the 1 random shutoff while charging. So far it's been a great rom.
If you continue to have issues, Odin to full stock, format your SD card, redownload the ROM, re-CWM3, wipe 3x, reflash the ROM, then use the journal-enable zip in the development section. If you continue to have issues after that process, you most likely have a bad battery or charging circuit.
Thanks, I'm going to keep an eye on it. I have been charging it on and off all day today. No problems so far not a single force close from anything. If it does it again then I will do a clean install. I'm going to run some benchmark programs while it's charging to see what happens.
Well it looks like i'm going to Odin to full stock. She was locked up this morning this time. Front screen buttons were lit up and the blue full charge led was on.
And the blu led light and front screen buttons were still on after I unplugged it.
I had to pull the battery to reset.
If you get any more freezes or odd battery drain after the full stock, try the EB13 modem and either VisionKernel or Genocide.
Thanks, I know it's one of those trial and error things. But it's worth it.

Battery issue - Running 100% only after fully charging

Anyone have a battery issue with their X5?
I've had the same issue with a few different roms (133 to start with 136 now running 160) and all had the same problem I believe.
After charging to 100% i'll notice for the rest of the day it will use up the battery very quickly and the running time in the battery monitor will be 100% of the uptime.
If i reboot the phone after charging running time will be more normal, say 10/20% or so over a day (will be down to maybe 80% charge after say 6 or 7 hours, but if I dont reboot it will easily be down to 40% or so at the same time)
I've noticed while googling that some Mot DroidX users have exactly the same issue? Having to reboot after charging to fix the problem.
Done all the usual check, turned off wifi/bluetooth/screendimmed etc etc etc checked running apps etc, but it only happens after 100% charge (can plug in and charge for a few minutes, unplug and running time doesnt go up)
weird problem.
Sounds to me you got a defective battery, I recommend you hand over it and get a new one !

This is mentioned in my post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1043760
But I don't believe it has any thing to do with charging, its just a certain amount of time after you've unplugged it it happens, maybe 1 hour, maybe 5. But it doesn't seem to matter if you've restarted it after unplugging it, all that seems to do its reset the amount of time before it breaks. Then you restart it again.
Im currently using B137 (Android 2.2.2), and am not experiencing the this issue (although I seemed to be experiencing it with all previous roms except U8800H B136(But that has extremely high 3g battery drain))
Edit: Wrong quote

As soon as I unplug i'll monitor the battery run time and it will constantly stay at 100%, even if i check 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30/60 minutes after the screens off.
If I reboot straight away after unplugging the phone will be perfect for the rest of the day, will never go very high in runtime, running apps, wifi, bluetooth everything during the day perfectly without burning through battery.
Its not a battery problem as its fine as long as you reboot, there must be something in the code somewhere that does something when it reaches 100% charge and doesnt shutdown after? some sort of charge notifier maybe?
Must be a code problem because how come Droid users would be having exactly the same issue when unplugging after a full charge?
Same problem randomly here too. Sometimes after unplugging it is stuck on running 100% and nothing seems to help exept reboot. I've tried switching on/off wifi/bt/gps etc. and killing all possible apps/services but it just doesn't sleep if not rebooted.
Strangely it doesn't happen every time after charging. I always have the phone plugged in overnight and usually have 5 or 6 days uptime before this problem occurs and I have to restart it.
Running B160 rom, clocked @ 1209 Mhz.

Random reboot battery level drops

Hey I was wondering if anyone running any GB ROMs experience huge battery level drops when/if they experience a random reboot or reboot manually (sometimes). My battery will appear to be doing great until the phone is rebooted and then the indicator drops to the bottom...the interesting part is the indicator will always boot to the same level (30%) no matter what level I was at b4 the reboot. I've experience this with both hurricane and stockyish ROMs. I tried resetting battery stats and that ddnt help...

That is a bug in CWM and battery level reporting. You can get your battery level back by either rebooting with a charger on or pull the battery out for 5 minutes and reboot.
Worked! Thanks!
i didnt think that it was a CWM problem... b/c i have noticed that since when i first got my epic on release day..
same thing just happened to me but im still on SFR Froyo so i dont think its a GB Rom, but i did the put the charger in and rebooted.... worked great thanks!
Glad I could help. Didn't realize some people saw this on stock. So it may be a reporting issue or momentary voltage drop. Either way at least we can work around it.

[Q] Battery draining like crazy

Started last night after I updated a few play store apps. I put my phone in the charger and it was at 1% at the time. I got it up to about 17% and it just stopped charging. I thought it was just the charger (official LG) so I switched it out and grabbed another (Touchpad charger) and it started charging again.
Skip to the morning about 6-7 hours later. Phone is really hot, 75% battery and not charging even though it's still plugged in. First instinct, restart it. At this point I had to get ready for work. When I got to work I let it slowly drain out and waiting about 30 minutes after it died before charging it, thinking that the battery needed a calibration. So I charged it up to about 35% and had to go for lunch. By the time I get back in a little over an hour it's at like.. 10% I think which is pretty odd for that amount of time.
Anyway I let it drain out again, at this point I also reflashed my current rom (dirty wipe), installed betterbatterystats and another app to check wake locks. I also installed greenify and froze 2-3 things. Drain is still happening although it might have slowed a little bit.
Fast forward to home, I have now completely wiped my phone and flashed the latest stable CM on it (10.1.2). In about 40 minutes I went from 25% - 15%. I DID NOT FLASH GAPPS YET. This is running barebones with literally no apps, no syncing (no gapps, no google signin) with WiFi on. I'm thinking the fast drain has to do with A) Uncalibrated battery (I haven't hit 100% in about 48 hours now almost) or B) battery is dead (or really bad).
TL;DR Battery is draining super fast, no [excessive] wake locks, dirty flashed once, clean wiped once. Drain still happening. All in a period of less than 24 hours. Is this a hardware issue?
have you tried a custom kernel?? .. try Franco's i think it's the best for battery life.

I flashed Franco M3 last night before going to bed. I'm going to see how today goes, but right now I can tell you I don't think it fixed anything.

I'll give it a shot whenever it gets low battery today.
you can' really judge franco kernel until a few battery cycle as it need to settle with your ROM.

Warm and frozen

So I have the T-Mo variant, H918, and its all stock, no root no nothing. I am having an issue with the phone getting really warm and sometimes hot and then it freezes and sometimes reboots. There have been times when I needed to pull the battery to reboot it. Even then sometimes it freezes on boot requiring another battery pull. I've also noticed that the battery will die very quickly. I was at 85% and about 15 minutes later it was at 2%, this has happened to me several times. It was just sitting on my desk with the screen off. I have warranty replacement coming from T-Mo. Just curious if anyone else is having this issue or something similar.
I'd check the battery stats to see if its a specific app that's running out of control or something. I got a Verizon phone and never had that happen.
Yea I've done that on each occasion as well as checked the memory usage. Nothing out of the ordinary going on. The biggest draw on battery and resources is the os.
