Cannot go into the bootloader mode on my Galaxy tab SM-T285 - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Questions & Answers

Currently, I am trying to unlock bootloader using adb.
I installed adb and fastboot and checked everything until the CMD shows my device correctly.
And right after I type
"adb reboot bootloader"
my tablet just restart and does not go into the bootloader mode.
I also tried it manually, by pressing home+up+power button, but it also perform restart and no bootloader mode.
Does anyone knows why?
I checked all the settings in developer mode and cannot figure out why.

You can't unlock the bootloader with adb only with fastboot which doesn't work on Samsung. To unlock the bootloader on Samsung you have to enable OEM unlocking in developer options. Also Samsung doesn't have bootloader mode but instead they have Download mode which you can use tools like Odin or SmartSwitch to flash files. To get into Download mode use the command adb reboot download or use the button combination power + volumn down + home.

Download Mode "Disabled" Nexus 6P

After unlocking bootloader, I am not able to flash anything ...TWRP, Boot.img, SU. Nothing, the download mode seems to block every effort.
Have tried all the free "OneClick" stuff both APK and computer. Just want to root my Nexus. Sorry if this is a duplication. I have searched and had not luck
finding a solution.
Thank you,
David
I had a similar issue...maybe. My download mode always said disabled. What I did was put the phone in download mode. Then issued the command in CMD (I use minimal adb and fastboot - google it if you dont have adb and fastboot installed on your computer) "fastboot oem ramdump enable" and then restarted the bootloader, now download mode is enabled and I can flash factory images etc.
What are you guys talking about download mode? What i do is I reboot into bootloader mode (after unlocking bootloader), flash TWRP, install custom ROM/Root/Kernels, and you should be good to go.
Download enabled

Well now it is enabled.
Fastboot, Recovery, Download seem to be interchangeable. When I hold down lower volume and power button, it brings up eight or nine lines ... one saying Download Mode; DISABLED all caps. When I did what you said it changed to ENALBED. However, even though I can enter Fastboot Devices and get serial number... it won't let me flash boot image or TWRP. Thank you in advance... any suggestions.
Interesting, have bootloader disabled but still managed to carry on as normal, I just flashed factory images a couple of days ago.
I will try above and enable it

I want to know how to downgrade.

I am using Oreo.
But there are too many bugs.
So I want to downgrade.
I want to go back to 7.1.
I tried to find a way.
I do not really know.
Press Volume Down + Power to enter fast boot mode.
With ADB, if you use 'fastboot devices'
Nothing happens.
Developer option, OEM off, all done.
I want to know how to downgrade.

Follow the instruction provided by Essential:
https://www.essential.com/developer/current-builds
Developer otpion and OEM unlocking are off? Why? That shouldnt be needed.
Download current build from link provide above ^^(current build)
extract the files to your "adb/fastboot/platform tools folder on pc"
connect the phone to computer using usb cable.
Open adb on computer
type adb reboot bootloader
when in bootloader verify fastboot works
"fastboot devices"
if your device shows up double click the flash all script for your OS.
Profit

I had the same problem. adb worked, fastboot did not. Installing the PH-1 drivers from the Essential support site fixed it.

Fastboot/download mode?

Does this phone have? Is there a way to boot into such mode so I can flash something via fastboot?
Power and volume down keys just lead to some test mode. Holding the volume down while connecting USB does nothing as well.
I'm just having the same prob with --U51
Thanks
Not meaning to necrorez a thread as the entire forum section is inactive...
On Y625-U21 the best way to enter fastboot mode is via adb:
- activate usb debug
- use "adb reboot bootloader"
you are now in fastboot mode. Notice that on the phone you won't see a special screen: just the huawei logo like it's stuck, but you can use fastboot to do what you want (unlock the bootloader since it won't require codes, run TWRP, flash TWRP etc etc...)

Can't get into bootloader?

Hey guys, I've been trying to unlock my bootloader so that I can try and root my Maven 3 via Magisk. The problem is, I can't get into the bootloader. If I try to reboot to the bootloader from recovery mode, it just restarts like normal. Same thing when I try using adb commands in the cmd prompt. I am on Windows 7.
I think it could be unlocked trought EDL mode. But we need some expert help
I unlocked my phone with at&t but I think it only unlocked the SIM.
I enabled usb debugging and oem unlock, but when I issue the command (in ubuntu term)
adb reboot bootloader

is just boots into the android system.
Any clue on what to do?
I have the same question - bootloader mode will not load when I issue "adb reboot bootloader", nor will it go into bootloader when I go into recovery mode (via POWER + VOLUME UP) and then I choose the "Bootloader" option. The phone just boots into the system. When I use "adb reboot recovery" it does go into recovery mode, and I am able to get a shell and copy files via adb just fine. I am using the latest platform-tools.
This is a ZTE Z835 (Maven 3), AT&T, carrier unlocked phone.
I don't think there is a bootloader... I have not found any fastboot-compatible mode on this device nor have I heard anyone else find one. You have FTM mode (Power + Volume Down) and EDL mode (adb reboot edl). EDL mode lets it work with QFIL, and with QFIL, you can literally dump and modify any partition on the device you want... I'm not sure what else you want. There's a new method for unlocking the bootloader https://www.xda-developers.com/unlock-bootloader-zte-phones/. I found that my devinfo partition was already unlocked, but you may need to check. I'm going to try and figure out how to create a recovery.bin partition able to be flashed in QFIL.

No fastboot option on Oneplus 8 Pro - can't unlock bootloader

I have a brand new Oneplus 8 Pro from China with global ROM installed.
I wanted to unlock the bootloader however there is no fastboot option in the boot menu.
There is Start, Restart Bootloader, Recovery and Turn Off.
The Fastboot option is missing.
I can connect the phone to my PC, adb recognizes the phone, but Fastboot is missing.
Any ideas?

Sure. You are allready in that mode. Just type fastboot devices and check..
I did that but no response.
The cursor jumps to the next line but there is no response from the phone.
If I type adb devices the phone is listed but the fastboot command doesn't return anything.

Restart to bootloader, then fastboot should work. If your phone is still on, and you can access adb, you should also be able to type adb reboot bootloader
Thanks.
So apparently the command "fastboot devices" returns nothing.
However I was able to unlock the bootloader just by entering "adb reboot bootloader" then
"fastboot oem unlock".
What confused me was that there is no "fastboot" option on the phone itself as there was on my Oneplus 5t.

The option in the power menu is called bootloader (fastboot only will work there) the hint was in the adb command I gave you, adb reboot BOOTLOADER. Not sure why they changed what the menu was called but I'm glad you got it sorted. To give you a short summary, adb will only work when your phone is powered on and booted into android, or if you have recovery mode open and on the adb section, and fastboot only works in the bootloader hope that could help!
Edit: fastboot devices should work but only in bootloader mode, not when your phone is started normally

You have to insert a SIM card, boot of the device and make a phone call to get it to register your device. Wait a few minutes and then restart your phone. Go into settings under about phone and enable developer options. Back out and go into developer options and you will see OEM unlock. You need to turn that on and USB debugging. Both of them must be turned on. Now you can boot into fastboot and unlock your bootloader. It will wipe the device so if you have any data you want to save you better do it now.
hey i am having this issue, i am able to adb reboot bootloader but when i try to oem unlock or anything else, it is just waiting for device and not finding it....

That's a driver issue.
Are you using Windows 7? If so use 10
If not then sort out your driver's and it'll be fine.
Theres a bug in 7 where the driver for ADB cannot be collaborated with fastboot drivers.

thanks for the reply, i am on windows 10 and i dont know what is causing the issue when the phone goes in fastboot, but i went on my wife's laptop and got it working within a few minutes after installing adb...
Having similar problem here:
win10x64, drivers installed, USB debugging is enabled.
ADB sees the devices, reboots it correctly with "adb reboot bootloader"
then bootloader menu's shown:
START // RESTART BOOTLOADER // RECOVERY MODE // SHOW BARCODE // POWER OFF
Fastboot mode
Product_name - kona
Variant - SM8 UFS
BOOTLOADER VERSION - (nothing appears here)
BASEBAND VERSION - (nothing appears here)
Serial number - (appears 8-symbol sn)
SECURE BOOT - YES
DEVICE STATE - LOCKED
trying to communicate with smartphone via terminal "fastboot" command doesn't do much:"fastboot devices" doesn't return anything at all, "fastboot oem unlock" just shows <waiting for device>
tried to reinstall drivers

If you type fastboot reboot what happens? If nothing then either you're device doesn't have usb debugging on, could be the cable/usb slot (some people have had issues with this)
Or its the driver installed for fastboot.
Show hidden devices in device manager you may have multiple devices, remove them all and start over.
Your also need to have used ADB and have trusted the device (prompt will appear on your phone the first time you connect it successfully whilst in your phones system, not fastboot)
for windows 10:
firstly download the google adb driver:
Get the Google USB Driver | Android Studio | Android Developers
The Google USB Driver is required to perform adb debugging on Windows with Google devices.
developer.android.com
then do the following:
1. adb devices [you should see your device ] > adb reboot bootloader
2. device manager > update driver > chose from list [android device]
3. still in device manager got the newly populated Android device and then update driver > choose adb interface
3. fastboot oem unlock
etc.
hope this helps

Secure Boot means your Bootloader is locked.
Setup fastboot correctly, open a cmd window, navigate to fastboot.exe and enter fastboot oem unlock, follow instructions on phone screen
