Grant access to SD card doesn't work?

So I want to use an app to download directly to my SD card. When I navigate to my SD card, I select grant access then select the SD card. After that it still tells me to grant access to the SD card. What am I doing wrong? I don't want to root my phone, because I may have to send it back go Samsung to fix a dead pixel soon.

[FYI] [Solution] Can't format sd card as internal.

This is a very small post as you can see..
I have observed that many of the users are having trouble while flashing most of the custom ROMs available for K3 note.
I myself was facing this problem.
After any Android KitKat update system doesn't allow the SD card to be used as default storage.
Most of the apps required permission to read write and edit files.
For example if you have encrypted any files on your SD card using ES Explorer then you cannot decrypt it unless you give it permission to write on SD card and sometimes it doesn't even ask for permission.
Well there is a simple solution to this thing.
What I did is I install Xposed installer for nogat.
And there is an Xposed module called XinternalSD which allows external SD card to be used as internal SD, basically it provides a false path to the internal SD.
Hope this helps..
can i use magisk instead of xposed?
