So I followed the above. I can boot to Android.

Most google apps crash right away. All I really wanted out of this was to get steamlink installed and beam some games to my Switch from Steam and play with the joycons attached.
I would freaking LOVE some help over discord (chat, no need to VC honestly) I can't find a discord for jailbroken switches at all.

Wps wpa tester app and some apps didn't working on Android 9.0 i was tested with nitrogen OS and aosp extended Android 9.0.

Thats because Android 9 dos not longer support WPS. GOOGLE ISSUE TRACKER got a respond from google stating the option Will be back in future release
I don't care much if it's android 9 or android 5. I just want the maps to work and perform basic functions, calls, gmail, youtube, music. No gaming
I have come across the 'LiquidSmooth' Rom on youtube which runs andoird 4.4.4. I am wondering if there is any newer android version that is also fast and doesn't drain the battery.

uses android pie. it's the most stable for pie. there are also some efforts for android 10, but the stability for that is more of an alpha.
use twrp 3.2.3 to flash.
If you don't care for pie, you can use ressurection remix Nougat?

generally speaking, you want to use as latest android as possible but is stable for your device

I'm testing several ... lineage OS 14.1 on antutu gets 39,585 Resurrection Rmx gets 40,696 I have downloaded RR here, in XDA, I quite like it, I have only tried those two. Also the interface in RR seems to me more attractive along with the pixel launch.
I am having some issues with the tablet, mainly with the messaging side of things. I can download and install an APK of Android Messages and open it just fine, just I cannot do what it asks me when it says set the app as the default messaging app. I am using the build from this thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/hd8-hd10/orig-development/rom-lineage-16-0-t3981685) that had a link to the download of the OS. I installed like the guide told me to, installed Standard GApps from the website for Android 9, ARM, Stock and it is running just fine. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated as I am brand new to the scene as of this week.

MediaTek MT8163 doesn't support LTE/SMS to use Android Messages.
Android Messages uses SMS support.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get Android Auto and Google Assistant to work on any Android 10 or 11 ROMs. I use these 2 features every day and their lack of functionality is the only thing holding me back from upgrading from Pie. I've tried all the Android 10 and 11 ROMs posted here with no success. I've tried flashing OpenGApps Nano-Aroma, and NikGapps Core + Android Auto and Google Assistant addons. Nothing works.
Has anyone been able to get Android Auto and Google Assistant to work on any Android 10/11 ROM, and if so, could you please let me know how you got them to work? Thank you.
I had crdroid 6 (android 10 ROM) with openGapps and android auto worked fine with that. I am now on crdroid 7(android 11) and no Gapps except flame gapps worked for me. But I am having trouble with android auto. I am a OnePlus 5T user and I am honestly considering buying a new phone since android 11 is just too good but android auto is important when I drive.
