S20+ Exynos that used to take about 1 hour to fully charge from 0 to 100%(switched off while charging) on "super fast charging" mode previously, has been now taking about 1 hour and 35 minutes on the same charging mode post "ATCH" update.
Checked this a couple of times only to get similar results..
Edit:
When phone is ON, from 1 to 100% it's taking more than 2 hours to charge.
*in both cases using the included 25W charger.
Wondering if I'm the only one facing this or the charger itself is faulty! Due to countrywide lockdown, unable to access other 25W chargers etc.. atm:silly:

I think Samsung has screwed something up with the last update...https://www.sammobile.com/opinion/my-samsung-galaxy-s20-ultra-isnt-charging-that-quickly-anymore/
Ffsss i'm on ATCT but i have zero problems.I myself installed camera app version 10.0.03.2 and its superfast.Fast shuter and zoom.Exynos version.I have about 6 hours of sot with 24h wifi on lot of games 120hz on.

Most recent update build is "ATCT", but clearly the charging has been slowed down since the previous "ATCH" build as per my experience.(I created this thread on 30th March with ATCH build installed, ATCT wasn't released then). True "Super fast charging" worked in ATC1, ATBM builds, not after that.
Strange if Samsung did this as part of cooling down the phone or such ..
Same here. I'm using 60W PPS charging brick with "Super fast charging 2.0". Screen says 57 minutes to full, but it takes 1h 28min.

It says MB28V, no it did no help at all when I re-checked.
The issue is either a bug or totally intentional.

def intentional they know they ****ed up with over heating so they reduced fast charge in updates for a company of that size and reputation its disgraceful

A friend of mine owns the S20 Ultra, He asked me to check if my charging speeds are alright.
I have an S20+ I tried testing it from 0-100% (switched off) and what I noticed is that the phone charged to 50% in 30 minutes. Earlier, It used to reach 55% in 30 minutes. Full charge exactly took 77 minutes (1 hour and 17 minutes). It used to take 71 minutes (1 hour and 11 minutes) earlier. My room was pretty hot in the afternoon when I put it to charge so I'm suspecting whether the ambient temperature had anything to do with it. I'm going try charging it in an air-conditioned room to see if it makes any difference. Phone is on the ATD3 firmware.
Noticed same thing on my exynos s20+
It seems this issue is only specific to the Exynos variants, as no reports from Snadragon users in the web!
Here I am snapdragon variant, same complain but the thing is I haven't received any update since march 30, I am on ATCK canada. Tried everything but it takes more than an hour.

So the culprit was the warm temperature as I suspected. I tried charging it in an air-conditioned room and it was super fast charging as usual.

I didn't mean about 5, 6 minutes of difference that usually might happen.
I did this charging test in my bedroom at 25°C (in AC) and in the hall at 32°C (without AC) already - in both scenarios it's taking approx 1 hr 35 mins to fully charge when phone is turned OFF. Noticed no difference in the last "ATD3" and current "ATD5" FW builds. It shows "super fast charging" but took that much of time as mentioned.

As I said same complain, It takes 1 hour 20 minutes now, previously it used to take 1H 6 minutes.yes snapdragon, so u cannot blame exynos. And yes stock charger and yes while not using it.

Ok, I have read literally countless threads about the less than desirable battery life of the G1. However, no situations quite like this.
I bought my Dev G1 used (used for 3 weeks, supposedly). I was noticing that the battery was lasting like two hours, of course I was using it, and it was downloading some large updates.
However, Last night I went to bed about 11:30, and my phone was at 100%. I put the phone on standby, (because I didn't want to charge it all night on a full battery). I woke up @ 6am, and the phone was completely dead. I will stay on for about 30 sec and then shut off.
Thats a bit ridiculous! 6 hours on standby???
I left the phone off, and I am now charging it, in an attempt to "Condition" the battery, but Im not convinced that the battery isnt bad.
Any Opinions/comments?
**EDIT: Oh yea, I forgot to tell you. "Use only 2g networks" is checked, and GPS and Wi-Fi is off.
1. did you check that it's an original battery and not some no-name?
2. as you said, try to condition it for ~2 days, always let it run dead, try to switch it on again once or twice, keep it off and charge it 2 more hours after the led is green. repeat this four, five times, if nothing changes, call t-mobile and complain. they might send you a new one.
Sounds odd for sure. If I leave my fully charged dev phone on standby (and 3G no less) overnight it's never below 80% when I wake up 6-9 hours later. Usually 85-87%.

Its not a no-name battery. I am an AT&T customer. I hope that conditioning it helps.
sorry, didn't pay attention
Its all good. Im just really frustrated. My Tilt lasted me two days of moderate use. I honestly need at least 6-7 hours of moderate use out of this phone, or Ill be forced to sell it.
I got 28 hours of moderate use out of my phone yesterday and it was only down to 20% at that point. You said you take it off the charger once it's full? You should leave it plugged in for a while longer.
Yea, see I left it plugged in pretty much all day yesterday. I was tethering with it, and the USB charges while tethering, Correct? So when I took it off it was fully charged.
don't charge it via usb, ac/dc seems to work better.
don't know why but many people say so..
Update: I plugged it in to my wall charger @ 8:00 am this morning. I just got a green LED. Ill leave it plugged up until about 1:30pm, and post the results later tonight. I hope I can see some difference...
By the way, I notice also that when its plugged into the USB, it gets VERY HOT around the battery compartment
Yes it does get very hot. Tell us what happens when you unplug it later. I noticed this with one of my old Window's Mobile devices, the battery lived less than 15 seconds.
Have you tried using the "Watts" program to measure battery stats.
Maybe you can post a screenshot after leaving it in standby for about 3-4 hours.

Never let a lithium-ion battery run until it is dead!!!!!! They aren't like NICADs, they have no memory effect, and this will damage them. See "Lithium-ion Battery" - Wikipedia

On my ATT Tilt I had 2 extra batteries and could barely make it thru a 10 hour shift at work with all three. Now with my G1, I have the same 2 spare batteries, and still barely make it thru a 10 hour shift on all 3. So, lifetime seems the same to me. They both suck batteries.
Shaggy
Well, After charging the battery yesterday afternoon, I used it heavily for about 9 hours. I used it way more than I would under normal circumstances. That was just after 1 cycle. It finally died about 10:00 and I left it off and charged it over night (about 7 hours). I will see if it lasts through one full day of normal use.
Im a little concerned about what Bill said. I certainly dont want to hurt the battery. This is the first I had even ever heard of this being potentially damaging.

ninjaedit:
clarifying it further: use the phone until it shuts down, switch it on again, wait until it's off, switch it on, wait until it's off and then charge it using the wall charger.
What Bill said is true but conditioning the battery once a month or so is not as destructive as it sounds.
Just try not to do it all the time and it won't kill your battery.
All I know, is that it helped tremendously after just one time. it went from 6 hours in standby to 9 hours of heavy use
i took my ADP off the charger at 6am today...n nw its 1am...power manager show battery level at 29..n i used it to click a few pix today...listen to some music for about 2hours..so all in all i am pretty satisfied with what i have got..but some(some means like maybe once in a week or something) days the battery doesn't even last 4-5 hours..even when its on standby..i simply don't understand why this happens...!!!!
Have you guys noticed any issue with the charging speed of this phone?
Last night when I went to sleep, 8PM (i know early), the battery was at 9 or 10 percent. I plugged it into the charger and all that. So this morning I go to remove the charger to check e-mail and what have you. 94%.... Come on, its 4:30 AM so that is eight and a half hours and not 100%?
Is this in the experience of anyone else? (Also do not let stock battery meter fool you, it doesn't show accurate measurement of the battery.) If not, what are you guys doing? Or is there anything I can do?
Honestly, 8 hours to charge your phone does not seem right. Something is wrong with your battery. The vibrant does take a long time to fully charge, but never 8+ hours. It usually takes mine a good 3-4 hours when my battery is dead.
I highly recommend download the application juice defender. Research and learn how to use it. It will save you tons of battery.
I'm currently on my 38th hour since the last time I unplugged my phone and I still have 8% battery. Btw, I've been using my phone for phone calls, texting, and playing games.
First of all thanks for the JuiceDefender tip, that looks very promising.
But do you turn your phone off at night to charge? Because I just turned my phone off like 20-25 minutes ago and it popped it all the way to 100% just as I was typing this response.
Any other suggestions, tips, or concerns from anyone, please share.

No, I leave my phone on. Usually with Wifi too.
Also, I have a simple wallpaper that is mainly black (it has some blue designs, but the wallpaper is mostly black). Having a black wallpaper saves battery as well because the color black consumes the least of amount of energy from our screens.
Well my homescreen is pretty black. Black mesh background, black icons (bettercut). Black bar mod. Just got done configuring juicedefender, even bought the pro version. Figure if it doesn't work out I can simply return within 24h. And, I will know within 24 if it is helping the draining.
Leaving Wifi/Bluetooth/etc on will suck your battery down. Turn it on only when you need it. This is true of all smart phones.
My Vibrant will charge to full in a couple of hours from dead. I get 10+ hours on a charge even with heavy use but I almost never use Wifi or BT so YMMV. I definitely get better battery life from the Vibrant than the old G1.
Curious if you could pay attention some time when your awake... my phone rarely charges past 98%. Wondering if your phone is charging up to 94% quickly, and then hovering or if it's actually taking 8 hours to get to that point?
Maybe you should get a replacement.
I can plug my phone in around 10pm and at 6am my battery sometimes says 98-99%, but normally is good to go shortly afterwards. I do turn my phone off at night and those that need me do have my home number too unless I'm traveling.
As well I normal usage is 6am-10pm or so and I have typically 40-60% left on the battery depending on the usage. Yes I do check the About Phone and not relying on the wacked out battery meter.
I don't leave wifi, gps or 3g on all the time simply because I don't need them. Id rather squeeze the battery than have something on that isn't being used anyways. Having that quick settings drop down in the Notification bar rocks.
I have the same issue. It always takes about 4.5 -6 hours to 'fully' charge my Vibrant from <10% regardless of whether the phone is on or off. Then after unplugging the charger, the battery info states that the battery is charged to 96%. My belief is that there are firmware issues with at least some TMO Vibrant phones. I'm also dubious of the USB charger. I've ordered a regular charger and I'll see if my suspicion surrounding the USB charging system is founded. Maybe...

Mine takes about 3 hours to charge but I normally get about 13 hours a day on it with normal to serious use. I haven't had a problem with battery life since I purchased it but I have been trying new battery saving techniques to see how long I could make it last.
Currently using a mostly black background. Wifi only when I'm in the house. Brightness all the way up. Synching two email accounts and Facebook all day. Definitely getting the most out of the battery that I could expect.

Well mine takes a while but not that long. I'm going to try out the juiceDefender that was mentioned but the other thing I would recommend is the accurate battery mods that can be found in the Themes and apps section. You can flash with clock work and it's a great way to know what your battery is actually at so you can see how much you're using for various things.
Make sure your charger or USB port has high current output. There are some out there with only a few hundred milliamps. The phone will take nearly one amp and should charge in a few hours.
Excellent point. For me, I'm using the supplied Samsung USB to 110v adapter and I'm getting 4.5-6 hour charge times.

Also the USB cable is important too. 1 amp over a long, skinny 5 volt cable can drop the voltage. If the charging chip sees a lower voltage, it will think the USB port is at capacity.
I love this phone but I must be honest.. this phone is worst as the Motorola cliq battery wise. it's terrible. I had 100 percent battery life at 8am and at 10:50am I had 23 percent battery left............ no matter what I was doing.. even if I had the screen on full blast *i had it on the lowest* it still shouldn't be almost dead in 3 hours .... smh!

One poorly written application running in the background could be causing the CPU to wake up constantly. Yet I can talk for hours and the battery will still be nearly full.
I know for sure one of the latest versions of Facebook ate batteries like crazy. I ended up installing an older version and my battery life returned.
Update on the issue. I was using juice defender but it wasn't doing anything for me as far as I could tell. I have since turned off vibrate on touch, and noises coming on during clicking. I am using a usb hub with two vibrants on it. I'll plug it into the wall tonight and see how that goes.
I have been turning off my wifi when not using it. A little better I suppose. While typing this I went from 49 to 46 percent and I am a fast typer. No wifi bluetooth gps.

Yes the battery drains pretty fast, and it does take about 3 hours to charge... my main problem is... at night when I plug in to charge, couple hours later I get woken up by a beep and popup window telling me charging is done and to unplug...
anyone know how to turn that off?
didn't use it that much the past few days but atm my battery is at 90%, uptime says 43:42:18, and awake time is around 6 hours. 14 hours since unplugged.
Sent about 30-40 texts, browsed around for some stuff, got 10 or so calls, and was on the map for 15-20 minutes.
Gonna charge it overnight, and use it extensivly tomorrow. See how long it can last.

That's damn good. I actually just flashed to an almost basic stock rom, with minor tweaks and it has the new unreleased update included, and it's doing damn well.can't wait till the source gets released. They did something that's really helping battery. Itll really be something when the devs get ahold of that source code.
What rom did you end up using. I would like to try and find a rom that isnt using sence. It seams to be the real life of the party and eatting away at the battery life.
your best options are to either go with CM6 for a true AOSP rom this will have no sense wont be based on sense and will have nothing to do with sense. you will however lose 4g, HDMI and FM radio currently; or to use a sense based rom and remove the sense launcher and HC wdigets. this will keep 4g, HDMI, FM radio and will help some on battery though you are still running a sense based rom so not as good as AOSP
As for the battery usage. this isnt bad though i am surprised with the usage you listed that android system isnt in the top 2 and neither is dialer for the phone calls. Looks like the calls where very short if you received 10 of them so i will point out again that this must be with very light usage.

in all fairness, I made it to about 15 hours unplugged and still had a good 85% left on my battery with similar usage. I ended up with maybe 23 hours total before I plugged back in at around 30%. That was with baked snack 1.5, btw.
And isn't uptime just the time since the phone was last rebooted? If you don't reboot the phone that number would get into the hundreds, and has nothing to do with battery or charging right?

Uptime = time since last reboot
yes uptime is since last reboot, but last unplugged is still 13 hours with 90% battery. It went down to 80% last night, after it reached 13:40, and i watched about 30 minute video on it.
and the phone calls were mostly to customer service. Called sprint for insurance and stuff.

Should be a lot better. Z3500 series' Silvermont has a newer manufacturing process, tri-gate processor design, out-of-order architecture, and it's designed to work on Android from the ground up (previous Z2500 series' Saltwell was ye olde Atom for PCs, slightly redesigned and limited to 32-bit, not even die-shrinked).
Lollipop's ARK has x86 support (JIT is gone along with Dalvik) so that should mean the processor will require less real-time code translation. Also, I've had experience with Silvermont cores on ASUS' MeMo Pad series, they last considerably longer, even if you consider the larger battery.
Bump : as device is released, can please anyone share battery stats and review ? also confirm your model plz (1.8 or 2.3)
I've been using the new zenfone 2 1.8Ghz, 2GbRam with 32gb of storage for a couple of days now and battery life is exceptional compared to my zenfone 6 (previous Gen 6inch screen). My last charge was 24hrs ago and I'm at 65% this is using LTE, which the previous Gen did not support. I'm also running a corporate email account using Touchdown and MobileIron device both of which are a bit heavy on battery.
The phone BTW is buttery smooth running 5.0.

It would help if you post actual battery stats like SOT because any device can last over 24hrs depending in the usage (my Lumia 520 lasts forever playing music). Your phone could have an uptime of 30hrs but screen-on time of 1hr, which is bad.

I'm no expert on posting stats out of an Android phone...I'm more a user then anything else. I can say that I'm a business user and on email via my phone most of the day. My anecdotal experience is starting my day at 6am my zenfone 6 is regularly at 30% by 8pm. Decent battery life in my opinion. However the zenfone 2 I'm currently over 30 hours and still over 60%. For me that's more then out of any phone I've ever owned.
If you go to battery status page (I don't know where it is in ZenUI but probably under settings) and scroll down until you see "screen" you should see a "use details" that says "Time on" and a number. That's SOT (screen on time). I suppose we'd all be curious to see what your screen on time is at the end of the day, but if it's lasting significantly longer than your last phone that's certainly a good sign. Are you using one SIM or two?
ah...screen on time... I should have known what that was. I'm showing right now 2hours 49 minutes of SOT and I've been on it steady last 30 to 40 minutes. I'm now at 50% battery. I'll let it run down to nothing during the day tomorrow.
Charging was also quite fast. When I received it, there was around 20% charge remaining. Took a little bit more the an hour to hit 100% but I didnt time it...just an approximation.

Could you screenshot your battery stats for us?
You can screenshot by pressing power and volume down at the same time and holding for a few seconds (have to time it right) or volume down and home.

Ooooh, it charged that fast with the OEM charger or another one? If it's the one it came with, then that means it already has native fast-charging after all! Glad you confirmed this, and yes please screenshot your battery stats.

Yep the charger that comes with it is rated [email protected] and [email protected] my last full charge was with the charger that came in the box. It also seems to quick charge with my QC2.0 charger but haven't done a full cycle with that one....I'll try it today when it finally runs out of juice.

OK, I took a screenshot this morning. I'll caveat that I had to tether to my laptop last night for a bit so I have a a charge spike. I can't say for how long...I was a bit stressed and didn't think of logging time. So results are now skewed. I was on email & Skype a lot after that and a bit over night. As I'm posting I'm at 27% remaining and SOT of 4hours 31minutes.
In response to beastofexmoor:
I'm using one sim currently....I really only use 2 when I'm on travel. SIMs are bit different compared the original zenfone. My zenfone 6 had SIM slots that could both be set up for data (3G 42Mbps type), however only one could be handle data at any given time. It was nice as I never had to remove my home carrier SIM from it's slot so no fear of damaging the sim slot of dropping my SIM at any airport mobile counter. You just had to direct the phone to use SIM slot 1 or 2 for data...genius in my opinion.
For the zenfone 2 only SIM slot 1 handles data (3G/LTE(4G)). Slot is 2G only. I guess they had to cut a bit of cost somewhere.

Thanks for the screenshots! battery life looks pretty good. Any chance you could run some benchmarks for us like geekbench/antutu/GFXbench3.0?
Thanks I'm impressed.

Might be getting the one with the Z3580 soon
As the title states, I might be getting the one with the Z3580 soon. couple of days soon (hopefully tomorrow though). I'm not sure if any confusion might've developed after reading an article on BGR. I bought the 1080p model with 4GB of RAM but 32GB of storage. According to the BGR article, that model doesn't exist and only comes with the Z3560. If it is the model that I want I will post some usage data on that. There isn't much info on this phone so I'll be a guinea pig and post what I find.

All the reading I've done says it's the Z3580.
Just wanted to post my final battery stats....forgot to get the a screenshot of my SOT but it was 5H39M when my phone hit 9% and nearly 2 days of run time. I'm more then happy with this performance. [email protected], 1080P screen.
Once the battery was depleted, I charged using an Aukey Quick Charger (QC2.00 charger) just to see if the phone is compatible with some of the Qualcomm specs.
11:19AM ......9%
12:02PM.....69%
12:19PM......82%
1:03PM.......99% had to head off to a meeting so I couldn't get it 100%
Screen grabs attached.
It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the LG V60 ThinQ before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Well nobody else has posted battery stats so I guess I will and I must say I'm nothing short of blown away with the battery life of this phone! 50/50 wifi and data. INCREDIBLE!

I have 5g disabled because it's very spotty in my area. This was 50/50 wifi and lte. I'm trying this still on the same charge. The phone was at 39 percent when I went to bed and it's at 39 percent now ...it laterally didn't drop at all overnight this battery is insane!
Here are my stats currently. Gonna take it down to about 5 to 10 percent and see what I get before I throw it on the charger.
Finished the 2nd day off charger with these stats. I'd say the last 39 percent was all lte and no wifi. Crazy good battery even on data!

Did you restore data from an old device?
No, I installed fresh. I hadn't turned off 5G though even though it's not available in my area. We'll see if that makes a difference

that was with the single screen only. I ended up doing a factory reset out if desperation. I've installed some apps but left othersb out and do far it's vastly improved. I'll have to install a few apps at a time and see which one was doing it.

I used LG package disabler and greenify with non-root permissions granted by adb, and this phone loses less than 1% per hour with the screen off. I woke up at 4:30, took my phone off the charger... Then went back to sleep until 1pm. 98%. That's pretty good.
Includes dual screen usage (about 20%.) I do use auto brightness. Android 11. Heavy

Facebook or any other silent data miners will eat your battery. I forcibly disable it on every phone and device I have.
Look for anything with run at startup permissions. Those all eat your battery because 9 or if 10 times they are data mining your device.

After a week of real usage. Check the battery capacity estimate. It is just as amazing as it should be.
