I know that AVs support Windows and all , but then AVG gives me an MSI engine error during installation and Avast gave me a BSoD .
Any ideas ? I would go for anything BUT Windows AVs .

Windows 8 has it's own background antivirus software, so unless you're a total noob you should really have no reason to worry.

btw anyone knows if there is a live stream from the presentation?
http://www.windows8news.com/2012/02/28/live-webcast-windows-8-beta-launch/
Now however ComputerWorld are reporting that Microsoft will not be streaming the event live, and it is unclear if it will be shown afterwards either.

Someone care to put some torrent online? My connection is so slow it takes many hours. Torrents are usually quite fast.
And no, these are the _consumer_ previews not the _developer_ ones.
Consumer Preview is out.

From what I've seen so far a lot of it's just Microsoft taking things that were broken in the Developer Preview and fixing them. But the new features look really good.

I like it so far
Is it locked to metro or are you able to use "classical" UI?
1.7/2.5 GB DL'd so far @ 700 kB/sec
You can use both Metro UI and the classic desktop (that's how it's always going to be on Windows 8 except for Windows on ARM)

No, desktop will be available on ARM as well. Therefore Windows 8 will come out like Windows Phone - choose whatever device, its all the same. So if you're buying a new tablet or computer, choose one, its still Windows 8.

BUMP! I'd really appreciate it if this would somehow work... :victory:
you would think windows would support live wallpapers natively by now, and just disable the feature on lower end computers like they did with aero glas and windows 7. would make allot of users happy
Here you go-- http://www.animated-wallpaper.com/Video-Wallpaper/
Only trial but when it asks you to buy it after trial it will say something like buy with trial play.
Trial play allows you to complete an offer which requires about $2 and then you get the software instead of paying $20 directly for the Video Wallpaper.
IT DOES WORK WITH WINDOWS 8!
Such a misleading title... I came here expecting a working method, but just found a question :/ Perhaps add a question tag or a question mark?

The very basic reason for this issue is the support for the flash as the version of dreamscene on windows 8 currently doesn't works on the binaries of the new flash player there are several tools available in the name of DREAMSCENE ENABLER to enable compatibility of the new flash

And?
I think it's an good decission by Microsoft to release Windows for the Pi for free.
We will see, what will be possible with it, an if it can compete with an Linux-based OS.
It won't. Widows 10 for RPi is made for developing IoT, not using system.

Yes, but there are also Linux-based firmwares, which are meant for developing IoT.
And there is the question: Will it be better than an Linux-based OS? Will it just be another OS? Or will it be something completly different?

Put down your pitchforks guys , if it's anything like how Windows IoT is for Intel Edison boards( the only other boards except RPI to have windows IoT)
It will just be a commandline interface and its ages behind Linux based embedded systems.

Actually, if it has only command line and Win32 support, it would be several times better than MetroGUI and no command line
Microsoft made a blogpost a week ago: https://blogs.windows.com/bloggingwindows/2015/03/18/developing-for-the-windows-10-device-platform/
Now we can download the preview on Microsoft website.
But you can install it on RPi only with Windows 10.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could get a full running Windows on RPi?
Not like that's gonna happen -.-
Ubuntu full would honestly be better

I am formatting my computer, I am struggling to decide on which windows to install.
Windows 10 does not ask user whether to install upadates or not.
Let me know your views on which to choose version of window.
Thanks

Fully agree with you, and Windows 7 for performance has long been inferior to Windows 10, especially on modern processors.

I am using both of them, on one laptop I use 7 and on the other I use 10. What can I say is that I like both of them, but 10 is better and more performant, you can customize it the way you want, just need to know how. 7 is good too, but no more just for working. Also it depend by the power of your laptop.
I use 7, I hope to become a free upgrade. The 10 are particularly expensive.

The current version of Windows 10, already on weak computers, bypasses Windows 7 performance.

I was using Win 7 last year, but 2 weeks ago I installed Win 10 and now on my laptop, it works very well.
When you are choosing the operating system you should consider the type of your computer your programs and so on. It's very individual.
