Hi All,
I've found a few unresolved issues with both versions of Lineage OS for my Fire HD 10 2017 model. Can I just apply the FireOS back using TWRP? What would be the latest version I could apply so that I could root it to de-bloat it?
Thanks
Didn't expect that to happen, also could this be ported to the 2015 Fire 7, as they're the same tablet?
EDIT - Apparently it's still FireOS 5, even though the official update page says FireOS 6.

Some minor differences, Wifi for one, but 7.1.2 lineage has been ported to both.
Hi
I'm using a Fire HD 8 with Fully Kiosk Browser as a home automation control panel and it works great. Its rooted and I'm using Lineage 16, which is super.
I've just bought a Fire HD 10 2017 on Fire OS 5.6.6.0 and plan to use it for the same purpose. Fully Kiosk runs ok on Fire OS, but is better with original android. I'm considering rooting the HD 10, but there aren't as many ROM options and in general, it seems like less development or interest in the HD 10 compared to the HD 8. The most recent lineage build with working camera (necessary for fully kiosk motion detection) is Lineage 12.
Does anyone have any advice on the topic? Am I better with an older original Android installation or a newer Fire OS and try to debloat as much as I can?
Thanks

Hello, is there any way to get an older version of android with the latest security patches? Let's say marshmallow with December 2020 patch for example. Thank you for answering

The Google Nexus 5 was released October 31, 2013 and it wasn't long ago I saw a few official Android 10 custom AOSP roms for it.

Here is a forum for rooting:
[UNLOCK][ROOT][TWRP][UNBRICK] Fire HD 8 2016 (giza)
Read this whole guide before starting. This is for the 6th gen Fire HD8 (giza). Current version: amonet-giza-v1.3.zip NOTE: This process does not require you to open your device, but should something go horribly wrong, be prepared to do so...

and a ROM LineageOS 14.1 (Android 7.1.2) with few bugs
[ROM] [unlocked] [douglas,giza] [OTAs] Lineage-14.1 [26 JUL 2021]
