Unbrick LG G6 H872 - LG G6 Questions and Answers

So I'm stupid and I wiped everything fully intending to install other software but my phone ran out of battery. Now there's nothing but fastboot. I tried to flash the twrp image onto the recovery part but it says FAILED (remote: unknown command) for everything I try. Any advice? I know the bootloader is unlocked because it says it's unlocked everytime I "fastboot oem unlock".

XT1700 Fastboot oem unlock fails

I seem to have lost the ability to unlock the bootloader of my XT1700. I previously had unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP and SuperSU, which took a while to figure out, but it worked. Today I tried to install a newer version of the stock firmware using SP flash tool (from here), which seemed to work fine, except now I find I am unable to reinstalled TWRP or SuperSU because I cannot unlock the boot loader.
When the phone boots, I still see the "device unlocked" message, and I have enabled oem unlocking and USB debugging in the developer options menu, however when I go into fastboot mode, if I run the "fastboot oem unlock" command, when the phone prompts me to press up or down, I get an "unlocking failed" error, and Fastboot reports "Unlock operation is not allowed"
Any ideas on how I can unlock this device again?
So it seems like those firmware images must have locked boot loaders. I ended up installing an xt1706 firmware instead (from here) and was able to unlock the boot loader successfully.
Anyone know where to get xt1700 stock firmwares with unlocked boot loader?

[Help] Can't flash anything through ADB

My Moto G4 Plus (XT1643) is perfectly functional.
I decided to unlock the bootloader, and it worked (fastboot screen seconds that too).
However, before unlocking the bootloader, i accidentally flashed TWRP through ADB, and it failed after some steps.
Now, even after the bootloader has been unlocked, I pretty much cannot flash anything.
I get the "Bootloader validation failed", and "remote error".
And whenever I try to flash any recovery, it says "error : 'filename' cannot be loaded".
Any help is appreciated,
thanks.
It could be that you have disabled the option (OEM UNLOCK) in developer options! Check it, it has to be checked to flash through fastboot

LG V20 Bricked after try to back to stock

my phone (US996) stuck in Logo LG. But before I was in the red triangle because i try to back to stock and I thought that i flash the firmware US996k keeping root would work well, but not this just lock OEM. But now the OEM has been blocked and I can no longer enter recovery. What can i do?
-The LGUP detect the phone but with unknow model. I put the dll in common and doesnt work. I dont know how to unbrick my phone
-I think the OEM is blocked, because I tried the "fastboot oem lock" command and it says it was already blocked, then try to unlock it "fastboot oem unlock" and says: FAILED (remote: unknown command). I think it's because the box was unchecked in Settings> General> Development, but the problem is that I can not boot to activate it.
Use LG Bridge. It has a button to recover from a bad flash. You more than likely will have a locked bootloader, and not be able to root again, but at least you will have a working phone.
Hi i try what u say i get bad news.
When I give error recovery.
It analyzes the phone but in the end it just tells me there are no update errors that can be recovered. And there it ends and does nothing
Have you tried using Uppercut to see if LG UP will recognize your phone?
Yes i try, and recognize but always like unknows model, i can´t continue. I extract dll from KDZ but not work.

messed up unlock.

Followed a tutorial on how to install lineage-14.1-20180817-UNOFFICIAL-cedric, but somehow missed a step or messed up.
I unlocked the bootloader, not exactly but in general: flashed the boot.img and rebooted, phone started and was able to use android.
But some strange problems occurred, like somehow my PIN was not recognized and device failed to factory reset.
Locked the bootloader again because of the warning (here's my mistake I guess) and now am unable to flash or revert to stock.
I am able to boot into android, did enable USB debug and bootloader unlock.
But everytime I boot I get the warning a different kernel has been installed (instead of wrong key before) and permission is always denied remotely.
C:\ad>fastboot flash logo logo.bin
Sending 'logo' (2186 KB) OKAY [ 0.068s]
Writing 'logo' (bootloader) flash permission denied
FAILED (remote: '')
Finished. Total time: 0.077s
This happens with everything, permission denied.
If I try to unlock it again via fastboot commandline (Windows) I get:
"(bootloader) invalid boot state"
Starting the phone in fastboot, the status is "flashing_locked".
What can I do now?
I am a noob, therefor the tutorial...
Thanks

First, this thread is for g5 plus not for g5, so post in that thread.
Solution:- which firmware you are trying is it for g5 or g5+, if you flash wrong firmware then this happen, try downloading your firmware and then flash it.now you are on stock. If you don't know how to Flash, you can prefer XDA threads or use Lenovo Moto smart assistant app (pc) that will flash the firmware for you.
If you want to go on custom ROM then, first go to stock rom as it will restore your boot.img and custom ROM can work. If you directly want to go to custom rom (skiping above procedure) then flash boot.img from ADB or twrp and install custom ROM.
Here is the thread to Flash stock ROM:-
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5...-flash-stock-romfactory-t3691396/post74221633
Link for Lenovo Moto smart assistant app:-
https://support.lenovo.com/in/en/downloads/ds101291
And if you are using XDA threads it has old firmware which can brick you Device you can get your firmware from here and chose which firmware channel you belong:-
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/potter/official/
At last to not take risk remove bootloader and gpt commands from ADB.
It is a G5 Plus and I get permission denied with adb or fastboot.
In android I van go go developers option and OEM unlock is ON, if I go fastboot, flashing is locked.

Well LOS14....-cedric is the G5 variant. You didn't flash the wrong firmware did you?
Apperently I did...
Is there a way to fix it?
the Lenovo recovery tool mentioned above doesn't do anything with the "flash" option.
Put the phone in fastboot mode and it is not recognized by the Lenovo application.
Can still manual send fastboot and adb via the Windows command line but still "locked" and "pemrission denied".
the command fastboot flashing unlock did the trick for now.
But, I want to revert to stock, what is the correct way?
Can someone point me to a good how to or tutorial with recent files?
EDIT: I see LineageOS officially is not supporting the G5 plus, but there is a unofficial version in the G5 plus forums.
I'm still thinking of customizing because of all the bloatware and sluggish performance.
reïnstalled TWRP, put Pixel Experience on an SD card, booted TWRP recovery, did several attempts to clean all data / cache etc. but got several errors, retried, rebooted, chose all options and installed Pixel.
First try phone did not boot, froze on Pixel boot, again wiped everything, again installed Pixel and now it boots.
good lesson.
Phone is not entirely recognized the correct way, google security speaks of a Moto X (4) and the phone itself mentions the exact model number instead of Moto G5 Plus.

Yeah security does show as Moto X4. That's normal.
One final question: On reboot I always end up in the fastboot menu without holding power and volume down, I also always get the unlock warning.
Is this a sign the bootloader is still not okay?
And is there an easy way to fix it?

LG v20 h990 bricked

Hello. I have a lg v20 H990N. I flashed TWRP by dirty santa method and wanted to go back to stock. As per the instructions on the link https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20...-h990-t3624296, I used method 1a for going back to stock. I ran the code as mentioned in the method while using my backed up "abootbackup.img" but I accidently ran the code twice.
Code:
dd if=abootbackup.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/aboot
sync
sleep 30
sync
After booting to bootloader. this is what I see written on the boot loader screen.

Welcome to fastboot mode for bootloader unlock:
*Quick Guidnance
1) Read Device Id
fastboot oem device-id
2) Write unlock key
fastboot flash unlock unlock.bin
3) Check boiotloader is unlocked
Fastboot getvar unlocked
*How to exit fastboot mide
USe "Fastboot reboot' command if fastboot is available

This is the meassage that pops up in fastboot. I can use fastboot but can't use "fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-1-h990.img" as it exits with error that remote: device is locked. I can't flash kdz with lg Up as Lg up says " there is no haadset connected". TWRP recovery is also not boot neither is the nougat rom that was installed. More \over my device is shown as "Kedacom USB device " in device manager in fastboot mode. Not in Com ports.
It apperas that my bootloader has locked somehow after flashing abootbackup and I can't unlock it as h990N is not supported by LG to unlock bootloader. screenshot attached.
Please help!!!
Yeah flashing the stock bootloader relocks most v20 variants, (the dirty santa bootloader can't truely unlock them, it just ignores the lock)
I'm not sure what you expected? Your link is broken, but it sounds like you reflashed stock firmware and then the stock bootloader and expected to be in a different situation than a fresh unrooted device?
You should be able to boot normally to Android or boot I to download mode and reroot from scratch.
