Hi guys i know there are lots of similar posts about battery life etc but cant find the answer im looking for after a search of this forum as all answers seem to be on rooted devices, she does not want her x8 rooted and im really getting it in the neck for upgrading her in the first place lol.
My girlfriend recently got the 2.1-update 1 via pc companion and thats when the battery problems started. The battery drain problem has actually been getting progressively worse since this. This morning (after yet another full night charging 100%) after 30 mins of getting up today the battery was down to 83 %. I have already uninstalled maps updates, not that she ever used it anyway.
So my question is : is there a solution to this without rooting and/or having a custom ROM? becuase she making my life a misery lol.
Thanks in advance guys and sorry for the similar post

Well, 1st thing as Dx said. reboot after using wifi, 3g, music. reboot to make everything fresh.. but there's no other way to save battery without rooting I think. because I helped my gf installed a custom ROM for her and she said that the battery life changed, and it's way different than a original ROM. How come she doesn't wanna go custom? Sorry for my bad english.

Agree with you!
Nah, rooting makes the difference. IMO Froyo ROMs have good battery life.
Well i think she might well have to go custom because the battery life is a joke now, nearly rendering her device unusable, think she just frightened cos i did her pc companion update and kinda blames me for the crap battery now, il have a read around the x8 forum on how to root.
Thanks everyone, apreciate it
Just try to keep off all things you don't need: Wifi, Bluetooth, Synchronization, 3G. also unninstall apps you don't need and do not use app killers to save RAM.
I think that is all you can do without rooting.

My friend, less RAM is actually a good thing. I've read through the web. just don't auto kill ALL the apps, kill those apps that when it doesn't look right or freezes. The more RAM you freed, the more battery it will drain. Serious.

I'm just a noob trying to help.
use a task killer and disable all what you don't need like bluetooth, data traffic, gps and wifi. yes i know my english is bad^^
disable wifi, gps, bluetooth and data traffic. stock 2.1update rom should get you about 3 days with those disabled. any apps that need them will ask you to switch them on again anyway. It's a little annoying to get used to at first especially when you're used to a fone that lasts a week without charge so I can understand how she feels especially if she only wants to text and do a few calls.
If you don't use wifi, 3g gps and rest of the s**t you should probbably buy a dumy phone.
With some "normal" usage you can be happy if it lasts for a day/day and a half.
2-3 is really success.
You do get a charger in the box with the phone you know?
Use your phone, stop wasting time on battery monitoring.

yeah but the idea is it's a MOBILE fone.. You dont want it plugged into the damn socket all the time!
If you need to use the GPS, WIFI etc. the app will ask you to switch it on so wheres the harm in turning it all off until it's required if it saves having to plug the thing in every day?!?
Nobody stated you should keep all the functions on.
But it should be understandable that, with some "normal" use, and by normal I mean regular texting, phonecalls, check facebook/twitter, refresh weather app, read mail and some news maybe you can't expect your battery to last 7 days like on dummy nokia.
Besides, you all forget that your biggest battery killer is the screen.
And another thing I noticed; when LED starts to glow green, your battery isn't fully charged. Check phone status. It becomes green after passing 90% I think, or so.
And the second thing I noticed is a HUGE differenc when charging the phone while it's on, for a hour and a half when the battery metter reaches 100% and when I turn it off and leave it charging over night.
The "night" option proved to be a lot better (battery lasts longer, doesn't fall so fast) + Every once in a while it is good to fully discharge the battery and then fully charge it.

Yeah, but that mobile phones have long since ceased to be just phones.
Switch off everything you can : wifi, brighteness, gps etc. Also you can make a profile "screen off " in setcpu and set it to 122mhz . it will save you a lot of battery! It drains just 1% after 5 hours ( but i didnt use my phone) . Hope it help.
Oh yeah and use the app called " fast reboot " it is so good is well and it speed up our lovely x8
When i used these things , my phone lasts in a week or more of.course i nearly didnt use my phone.

Seeing as I don't have enough posts to post over in the development forum, I thought I'd hijack this thread.
I installed this rom last week and at first, the batter was brilliant. It lasted for three days but now I have to charge it twice a day. I have bluetooth off, wifi off more often than not, brightness down very low.
The phone was 5hrs on battery and was down to 44%.
Cell Standby: 35%
Display: 20%
Phone Idle: 19%
Launcher Pro: 13%
Anyone have any ideas?
I also experienced the same problem ... especially with the overclocked conditions
by life span i mean battery life.
when i am off work i leave my phone on the side and basically do nothing with it maybe make 1 call or send a txt the phone over a 9 hour period uses 12% battery i have monitored this over 6 days.
however when i go to work and sling my phone in my bag and leave it there all day it uses over 70% battery so i am curious why and how and if there is a way to reach a happy medium.
my phone is not rooted.
i find i am constantly turning off "watchon" and other naff samsung apps which i do not use.if i look in the settings/battery options "android os" is the biggest battery drain.
my phone is uk on o2 network baseband is N9005XXUDMJ7
is there a save way to root the note 3 and is there a list of stock apps that i can safely uninstall.
sorry for lame questions have not messed with android phones for a few years now.
cheers
If you have very weak, marginal signal, phone will constantly search and try to reconnect and that will kill the battery rather fast. If I had to speculate, somehow putting your phone inside the bag cuts the signal down and makes the phone work overtime trying to stay connected, either by location of the bag or the lining? But loosing 12 % over 8hrs is not stellar either, just for comparison my phone is on for 10hrs since last charge , I made 5 short phone calls, checked the weather and news on the web quickly and I'm at 95%, but I do have full bars in my office.
many thanks for taking the time to reply, my phone is stored in my work bag which is kept in the cab of a bus (i am a bus driver) i would tend to agree that the signal bars are very weak when i do take it out of my bag, maybe i sould it try it in my shirt pocket for a day and see what happens.
Even tho 70% drain is too high compared to 12%. I will still point out what earlier poster did. Signal is very important for battery life. If you have good signal, your battery life will be relatively better. Though you said that you are not rooted, you should go to my Battery Saving tips thread and look around for a few pointers to help with your battery troubles.

What do you mean?
It's normal for a rom to use more battery the first time you use it. Besides that there is no such thing as a fake battery state.
Ok sir
I use amlify, freenify, and boot manager but...
After 3 days using this rom or every CM based rom i lost 25% of battery on 7 hour without using my device.
Sorry for my bad english.

I lose more with data on. I think it's normal result for 7 hours.
Custom ROMs need a "settling in" period where the software polls the hardware for its capabilities. The OP may simply be impatient and expecting instant benefits from the ROM without giving it a chance to adjust itself to the hardware. 25% in 7 hours is typical for someone not using Greenify, but it's arguably high for someone using that app. If the OP isn't being impatient, it makes me wonder how old the OP's battery is, since a new battery shouldn't be having this much drain.
The OP would greatly benefit from updating to an Android 6 ROM. In situations where the phone is simply sitting there, Doze kicks Greenify's a** all over the park.
Hi all
I noticed that the battery runs out quickly.
It holds only 12 hours in normal use.
While I was at 48 hours with my Huawei mate 8
Is there a solution to this problem?
I have attached the phone version if it can help.
Wait bro, your firmware version is outdated, latest Lollipop firmware is 2.20.40.184, but yours is still running 2.20.40.90, update your firmware first then compare your battery stats from your previous firmware version.
How long is your SoT(Screen on Time)? Well, on a daily usage my Zenfone 2 lasts for up to 6hrs SoT(with wifi browsing, some gaming, 2g/3g texting including standby for almost 12hrs as well) so i think your experiencing average for this kind of handset.
Also note that you've posted on a wrong section, this thread should be posted on the "Q&A, Help, Troubleshooting section".
This phone generally has **** battery life for majority of people, there are every few people who see any decent battery life (like above). There are no solutions for good battery life for this phone.

I wouldn't recommend somebody (even less a new XDA user) to flash a beta firmware. Only the user itself should decide if he /she really wants to try beta software.

Comparing this phone's battery to a Huawei battery is like comparing a Prius to a Tesla. I can go 3 days on my Huawei Ascend Mate 2 but it's a 4000mAh battery and a Snapdragon chip compared to a 3000mAh battery and an Intel chip. The ZF2 battery will never get better unfortunately
I was getting some serious battery drainage on stock rom - I upgraded to the CM13 ROM with Android 6.0.1 - Set it on Root and installed Greenify + Xposed Framework - Smart Booster - Battery Doctor - Configured them all and keep my brightness on low when in doors and automatic when outside. My battery seems to be holding much better now. I haven't used that Stock rom Beta release of 6.0.1 yet so I'm not sure if that'll help. Good luck!
P.S - I only installed the mini version of GApps.

Disable touch gestures, the ones that let's you double tap to wake it up, I disabled mine and during the night, with wifi on, it only used 1% battery.
Also, disabling LED notifications would help.
To replace the double tap to lock screen I use Greenify's widget, need to find a way to let me wake it up by volume buttons too.
Any other battery saving tips would be great.

But still, that's very good. I probably won't get this low because I have crappy reception at home, but I'll check it anyway.
zenfone 2 is best for performance lag free most of the time .....but battery life sucks.... and about that ferrari and prius thing... my friends sony xperia z series especialy z ultra has awesome battery life it is also quad core processor phone ...it is also a beast phone ...but there stamina mode saves a lot of battery ... 8 to 10 hr SOT is normal for z ultra..... so clearly power managment is very poor for zenfone 2. i am using marshmellow cm 13 .. greenify... .. overnight drop is 3 to 4 %... but as soon as i start using it battery starts to drain quickly..... i have searched whole xda forum.. but everybody is talking about wakelocks, thats fine but during actual use also it is consuming a lot of battery....i am tired of searching
Does anyone know that is wrong with my phone?
the standby battery life off the chart
i can get close to 9h SOT stright no problem, but if i leave it on standby i can't even get 16hours out of it
no warm, hot or something like that
i thought it was the battery but it is still the same after replace the battery
i've try anything i can find on internet
1.Disable AOD
2.Reset network setting
3.airplane mode
4.factory reset
5.screen resolution
6.adaptive brightness,adaptive power saving
7.reflash firmware
8.replace new battery
9.switch it off for 24hours(not even lose 1%)
i'm ran out of idea now
if anybody know what wrong with this phone please help me
sorry for my english ><
You might need to take it somewhere and have a tech look at it or contact Samsung on it or claim warranty with Samsung.
See if it does it in safe mode.
Probably a rogue apk(s)... a software issue.
okay i'm going to give a try on safe mode
it's still there losing a about 15% over 5 hours on idle.
Same on my note 10. Battery live just went bad over nigh, exactly 1 year after I bough the phone. So I guess this is build in to make us upgrade to the next gen phone. I won't even waste my money to replace the battery because I know it won't make any difference. Typical $am$ung

I'm running on Pie with a 10+ so you may have different issues/solutions. One of the big reasons I never upgrade; I have this phone optimized, it's fast, stable, reasonably secure and I like it. Took a lot of time to get to this point.
Lol, I'm still happily running W7x64
Probably a Google apk; Backup Transport*, Google Services Framework and Google Play Services are known offenders.
Try clearing their data.
I package block the first 2 and use Karma Firewall to block GP Services except when I need it for gmail or gmaps.
In Developer options look at running services.
Also in the same look at Standby apps; all buckets should show as active. If not then power management** is active, disable all power management; Android will manage it's self nicely.
Enable only the "Optimized" option for display/cpu and fast charging in Device Care.
Use the factory load version of Device Care if on Pie. Firewall block it though after which use it's system cache cleaner.
Download Galaxy Labs Battery Tracker from the Galaxy store.
Download Karma Firewall from Playstore.
Consider using this: https://www.packagedisabler.com/
*turning off backup Transport in goggle settings doesn't stop it and Framework is a dependency of the former I think. It needs blocked too and will still show as running but at a very reduce amount.
Occasionally even when blocked all 3 need their data cleared to stop excessive battery usage.
**track down the roque apks one by one and deal with them without using power management options.

there no point replacing the battery like i did
Li-Ion/Li-Poly can't go bad in just 1 night unless it blow up or something
even my previous note 5 battery can take charge day in day out for over 3years without needing a new battery.

Never charge battery if temp is below 60F and especially if freezing or below.
Ideal charging start charging temp seems to be about 80-90F
Keep battery temp below 100F whenever possible.
Shut it down or cool it if battery reaches 105F when using it.

I haven't been a saint with the 10+'a battery but the insults add up if you do it every day.
Likewise being conservative with the charging and temp parameters should too.
It will be interesting how long this battery lasts as I use the phone a lot.
Accubattery to spite it's faults is a good monitoring tool. It's charge reminder is handy and it's milliamp overlay has been useful.
It also logs charge/discharge milliamps and times which is probably the best battery indicator.

Disable Android updates. Only update after others have given feedback and you have more to gain than loss. Once you update you may well need to start this witch hunt all over.
Androids are fun to play with... go to it
noted,will do
do you recommended me to rollback to 1st 4 bin Nov firmware or just stick with current firmware?

Depends what you want. If not sure, play with this one for a while.
I'm still running on Pie on my 10+ so I don't bother looking much at updates.
I'm not pleased with Q though so it's a no brainer to stay with Pie. At this point I have near zero issues, it's fast, stable, it does all I need it to do and runs the apps I use well.
