Initially thanks for any help.
I bought a Amazon Fire HD 10 9th Generation to my daughter, but even installed GooglePlay etc, the system is POOR.
Any chance to install a fresh pure copy of Android on it?
Thank you so much folks!

right now the only thing working is root if on stock 7.3.1.0. But that doesn't stop you from cleaning things up. You can disable apps and change launchers. The only hope is a developer looks into the bootrom for an exploit to unlock the device. You should disable OTA's so any vulnerability wont be blocked by amazon. Hard to say if there is a real vulnerability there, but there is some hope. When you say the system is poor, what would you like to change?

What does DevCheck say in system/model ?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.devcheck
Is it
Model: KFMAWI - Codename: Maverick ?

Thx for reply
Michajin, I will try this action. When I said about POOR system, because I feel as apps by Amazon retarded the tablet and it's trash unnecessary.

and General https://forum.xda-developers.com/hd8-hd10/general
Someone may find a way to unlock the bootloader.
but until then there isn't much you can change.
I think will not work on mine.
I have OS 7.3.1.2
NEED TO BE
Fire HD 10 9th gen (2019) -- up to Fire OS 7.3.1.0
only

Hey guys...i have the same device (Pra-la1).
If you want to root just follow the same instructions that are on Huawei p8 lite 2017 section.
And the recovery for p8 lite 2017 (pra-lx1) is the same with honor 8 lite (pra-la1) and I've been using it since day one that I bought that phone.
And i think both phones are the same except the model name...
I tried to flash the ROM from pra-lx1 and actually they are both the same.

Wow , great Info
Yea since they are both "PRA" so just the same.

Every attempt at rooting has led me to be stuck in eRecovery
I have no problem flashing and using TWRP, but i when i flash SuperSu (i tried all verisons for p8 lite 2017) and it always gets me stuck at eRecovery :/

Yes, the latest version of TWRP is running just fine, but whenever i try to flash SuperSu (Using TWRP) i get stuck at eRecovery, flashing unSU.zip doesn't fix the problem, the only way to fix it is to remove supersu file from /data

720 has wifi working, so the first post is inaccurate. Even so we have told everyone upfront those other things don't work right now, not sure why you expected them to work. For now this project is basically a toy device. It will be able to do more in the future.

I've given everything to Sam to patch/update. I thought he had done and built already, but maybe there is a delay? There's really not that much to the wifi fix for 720. 52X is the big pain that is disturbing my sleep.

Maybe you can request write access to the Android4Lumia repositories from @SJR (Sam). I really want to make a Lineage OS 14.1 in some days since there are no Android 7.1.2 based builds by him.
Is it a kernel patch?
Sent from my Motorola Moto G4 using XDA Labs
mattschwantes said:
Not really kernel related. You just need to push correct WCNSS_QCOM_WLAN_NV.BIN to the correct location. Only problem is it gets overwritten by a symlink during the build process. Someone would have figured this out eventually. Unfortunately this only works on 720. 52X has a different issue.

Since there's a working root procedure for HD 10, why wouldn't that work for HD 8?
Aren't these exactly the same other than the screen size?
Assuming HD 8 has the same OS version (5.6.2), which is rootable on the HD 10.
I'm confused - someone please clarify.
Thanks!
Because, apparently, they are not the same.

But if both OS versions are the same number (5.6.2.0), then where would the code difference be?
