Android 6.0 Marshmallow for Motorola Moto X Play
Motorola released the Moto X Play flagship with pre-loaded Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS with minimal changes to stock Material UI. Now Google is going to unveil Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system on 29th September. Obviously Moto X Play is in the Marshmallow upgrade list with top priority. So Motorola may start the intial rollout of Marshmallow update to Moto X Play in the end of October. But some users may have to wait until November to taste Marshmallow. Motorola may start the rollout first in the US and other North American countries. Users of Play edition in Middle East, India and European countries may receive the Android 6.0 update in November or December. Full details about rollout dates will be revealed in coming days.
1. DO NOT DISTURB
Through Do Not Disturb, users can set different silent modes according to their need. Users can access Do Not Disturb feature in Quick Settings toggles directly from the Marshmallow home screen. In that three modes will appear : Total Silence, Alarms Only and Priority only. Users can set any mode for a few hours. More customization will be available for Do Not Disturb through the More Settings button at the bottom. Google may improve Do Not Disturb feature in the next updates. This is a updated version of priority notification of Lollipop.
2.APPS PERMISSIONS
This Feature of Android M has been speculating for many days and now the full details revealed. With Android M users can use individual permissions to allow or deny apps. Google has simplified the permissions feature in Android M. In Android M, permission request will appear when the app requires that particular permission and not at the time of installation. For Example, Whatsapp will request one time permission request to use mic, when we tap on record voice message icon. So users can decide to give permission to use it or not while using apps. When users want to change or view the permission setting for any app later, they can do that in the Settings. So android m is giving full control over apps to users through permissions. This is a noble feature of Android M. Google may further develop this feature in future android versions.
3.NEW VOLLUME CONTTROL
Google improved the volume controls in Marshmallow better than Lollipop. So when user click on volume up or down buttons, a volume settings box will appear on screen. This box let users to change media volume, ring volume and alarm volume independently. To set in vibrate user have to tap on the Bell icon in this screen. So Android 6.0 Marshmallow volume controls are much better than Android 5.0 Lollipop. In Marshmallow there is no need to go into Settings menu to change volume controls independently. As said above the customized Volume control screen will appear as soon as user touches Volume up or down buttons. Actually Windows Phone adapted this setting a few generations ago and now Android got this.
4.DOZE
In Android M, the tech giant introduced a new battery saving function named as Doze. With motion sensors, Doze recognizes automatically position of device and usage of device. So Doze recognizes whether the user asleep or kept in a table and saves battery according to the needs. In Doze mode also, alarms will work and priority notifications will appear. According to Burke, they have tested two Nexus 9 devices, one running on Android M preview and one running on Lollipop. The device running on Android M preview gives two times more standby time than the device running on Lollipop. Android M also supports new USB Type-C ports which allow greater amperage and fast charge the device. Users can also charge other device with these USB Type-C ports. Android M will manage better these ports. As Moto X series don’t have these ports, this feature of Android M is useless for Moto X users.
5.GOOGLE NOW ON TAP
Android 6.0 Marshmallow brought new app menu design which deviates from previous Android version. Upto Android Lollipop all Android versions feature horizontally scrollable app menu. But in Marshmallow Google introduced vertical app menu. The App Menu appears much smooth and fast than previous app menus. Search bar also comes with new app menu. So users can type in the search bar at the top of app menu to find required app. Users can easily find the required with search function in the new app menu. The Marshmallow app menu also provides the list of recent of on the top of the menu. So users can easily launch recently used apps. Google may improve this new app menu in the next update to Marshmallow.
Please note that they are not numbered according to priority
one disadvantage is that it uses more storage than lollipop now we only have about 10Gb free out of 16Gb.

Feedback Thread: Tell Honor What You Want in Future Software Updates!
How is everyone enjoying their Honor 8? I was curious about what everyone wanted to see in future updates or maybe the next version of the phone.
Some things I'd like to see
Android 7.0
App Drawer
More Theme Options
Power plan scheduler as said by @Droiderr at http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/power-plan-scheduler-t3482030
App drawer,
Good reflective design aesthetics,
Better RAM Management without closing more recently used apps,
Default VoLTE support and support for all LTE bands in that region.
I would like to see android 7.0 for sure
And I know it may just be me but I would like the phone on just standard android not emui.
My only other gripe is ram management and the way it handles closing recent apps.
To use smart keys for home, back or app switch
1. Better screen calibration by default.
2. Double tap the screen to wake.
3. Extend the functionality of the smart key. Eg. -While the screen is on, tapping on the fingerprint will function as back key. This is usefull for app that use full screen such as browser.
-Tap and hold to turn off the screen. This is a feature that is available on meizu device which is very useful. No need to press, just tap and hold the fingerprint and boom the screen turn off.
4. Performance and smart powerplan shortcut on the shortcuts tab. Might as well add 720p(rog mode) toggle.
5. Better camera interface. The current interface seriously need some redesign! Why the hdr is seperated from auto mode? The pro/manual mode uses ring adjustments which is annoying. Why not a simpler like a straight horizontal line for focus, exposure time,wb,iso adjustment?
6. Fix the damn camera settings! Whenever I open up the pro mode, the auxiliary light always turned on. It doesnt save my setting! Same goes to the image adjustment.
1080p stabilization without losing so much quality of the video. It looks worse than a normal 720p video.. and ability to zoom in the videos with using all the 12mp sensor, not just 'software zoom'
7.0
Better ram management
Better notifications! Quick reply from notification shade, not just in heads up.
Lockscreen improvements, reply from lockscreen
Update themes from theme app. So I don't have to go download the updates themes and put them in theme folder
I would like to see Android 7.0.1 as soon as possible.
Need to be able to change the notification volume independently of the ring volume, just like on my old Galaxy S5. Notifications should be on the volume list with its own slider!
center clock mod.
ambient display and double tap to wake.

Is anyone from Huawei aware of this thread?
I agree with everyone! This is a great phone but EMUI 5.0 update needs to come soon!
Something that hasn't been mentioned is discarding of notifications on the lock screen, e.g. swipe to the right.

Yup. Need to access Notifications and Quick toggles in the notification bar from lock screen like the one in Moto.
Double tap box key to fast switch previous application
'movie' display mode - like the one in samsungs
and nougat 7.0 of course ;p

There was a bets for the p9 in the summer, yeah maybe in December
Emui 5.
Nougat release.
I am asking this as I am about to start my own rom project for nexus 6p
I am also open to rom bases
What are the most important Rom features to you?
What special features do you like?
What version of root do you prefer?
Do you prefer certain kernel features?
Professional flashaholic here, so here I go:
Must have:
Long press power button for torch
Double tap to sleep anywhere in lockscreen
Battery light (led)
Do not wake screen when plugging charger
Animation speed control (all possible values, not just 1x, 0.5x, etc...)
Status bar ticker
Playback control using volume rocker
Reorient volume buttons on screen rotation
Ambient display advanced customization (especially brightness)
Fingerprint authentication optional vibration
Status bar clock customization
Quick pulldown in quick settings
Fingerprint unlock after reboot
Really nice to have:
Pulse visualization (both in navbar and lockscreen)
Volume panel customization (especially timeout)
Quick unlock
Navigation bar settings (DUI)
Full substratum support (especially if using default teal AOSP color)
All the Pixel goodies (nav bar animations, sounds, wallpapers, launcher, etc)
Root: I say let the user decide, some people prefer SuperSU, some prefer Magisk.
I've used almost all of the Roms here in XDA and other places, and right now, Resurrection Remix is the one that has everything I want, which is not to say that the other roms are bad. In fact, I've enjoyed every single one of them, and I'm immensely grateful to all of the developers here. I usually donate to them when I'm especially happy with a rom. It's like having a new phone every two weeks or so.

Don't include any root! That way is easy for user to stay unrooted if they wish, or to easily flash supersu, magisk, or whatever else.
Redsmith pretty much covered all the bases on a good rom. I'm currently on nitrogen rom 7.1.1 and using substratum. So theming is important to me

Battery charge led, volume rocker change tracks, oms ?
I was also going to ask does anyone want viper mod baked into the rom?
I wouldn't, but that's just me. I'm not a big audiophile. My $8 earbuds from Walmart sound amazing to me.

I mean it would be cool to have viper arise . But I can always flash it afterwards. Can you make the ROM 7.1.2 based or can u make it the 8.0 Dev preview rooted?
Also pulse on the lockscreen like back in the cm days. Flashlight hold power button.. immersion status and nav bars

To base it on 7.1.2 the source code needs to be released. Since it's still in beta I highly doubt the source has been released yet. If you want 8.0 rooted, why not just install the preview and flash SuperSU?

I have my developers account with Google so. I'm. Looking to build this. Up for 8.0 I want to make sure it's a daily driver I don't want to. Be releasing a bug filled rom.

I might as well actually answer your question in the OP while I'm here. Must have features for me:
- AOSP base
- Long press power for torch with screen off
- Adjustable screen time out settings for lift to wake gesture
- Ability to adjust nav bar height
- Double tap lock screen to sleep
- Volume rocker media control
- Custom quick settings rows/columns (ex: 4x4 layout rather than the stock 3x3)
Anything else is just a bonus but would still be appreciated. I think things that can be flashed like like root, Viper, etc should be left up to the user.

I appreciate all The feedback from all of you this is a great start
When I get a stable version I will.mesaage the guys interested in helping me. Test
As you can make a rom do you think you could possibly help me out with a mka bacon issue. How much ram do you use? As for features/apps I would say include adaway, wakeblock, supersu, viper4arise, substratum and oms support and camera nx and ex kernel manager and for features just copy Resurrection Remix.
I will pm you
I guess I'll throw my hat into the time, as I'm always down to test new ROMs!
Some must haves for me:
- Alarm/Wakelock Blocker
- Navbar dimension tuner
- Pixel icons / Color (I think it's a framework thing)
- Lock screen double tap to sleep
- Lock screen font change
If you need an additional tester I'd be down! Flashaholic, so I could give it a good run through. If somehow you were able to bake a lot of the features mentioned into 7.1.2 I'd download in a heartbeat and donate what I could. Easily

I have just bought an X Style and have a few questions
1) Is it possible to adjust the size of the Nav buttons without root?
2) Is is possible to activade expanded desktop on the phone to hide the nav buttons in some apps?
3) Are other camera apps able to use more advanced settings compared to the stock camera app?
4) If you root X Style and install an rom,, will the camera be worse?
I have experienced that on both my Sony and Oneplus phones.
5) When is the official Nougat going to be released world wide to the phone?

I am only able to answer your 3rd question, yes there are some camera apps available with extra settings like manual exposure and focus etc..however the one which worked the most for me is bacon camera, available from the play store. Most of the other apps need the camera2api which is not in the stock ROM, however bacon camera does not use camera2api.
Hopefully that helped a bit?

1) No, not directly resize them, but you can reorder them or replace them with custom or different size ones. https://www.xda-developers.com/how-...icons-or-re-arrange-the-buttons-without-root/
2) Kind of, Marshmallow supports expanded desktop for an app, but the app has to call that function, you can't toggle it on and off. The app is in control.
3) Yes, look around, lots apps available, but the X doesn't support Camera2API, so you are somewhat limited. Personally, I like Camera ZOOM FX Premium but that is just because I got it on sale years ago and been using it a while. The issue with the Moto is you can't change the default camera so you can twist it open or open it form the lock screen, which is annoying because the stock camera's controls are crap.
4) It will be the same
5) That is the $50 question... sometime between now and the end of time. In other words, we have no idea.

You can add toggle for that on homescreen or in quick settings with apps like power toggles without root

Will you be using the new features that eliminate the nav buttons? although you loose the long press options on nav bar
why not
I like the new feature, but I badly miss the menu function (long press} of old navbar, OnePlus should add this function as additional gesture
I liked it, but it's a bit bare now and needs a few preferences to suit everyone.
I admit I was skeptical at first about the swipe navigation posts earlier, but I now can see the benefits.
it's great except for Back not being responsive enough, Home is good
Yes I'd love to replace my Xposed Edge + GMD Gestures combo with a stock feature, but only if we are able to customise the duration of the animations / duration of long press, and if we can enable and disable individual gestures independently. Because the back gestures are wacky, the other ones are good except for the sluggish animations.
Very nice this gestures but have some little bugs:
1. Back gesture not work very good.
2. Can't start Google assistant (long press home button ???) - partial resolve by: "OK Google" or Nova Launcher
3. Same situation on Recent and back button (long press actions) bye bye
The back gesture is not fast enough.
However, gestures are interruptive and fun to use.
I still would love to have the disappearing nav-bar with a simple toggle to bring it up and take it down.
If there was an option to go back to last app with no waiting time it would have been great. For now I will switch to stable or different rom.
I would definitely prefer the back gestures as is on iPhone or Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 (Maybe more models too), just sliding from the left side of the screen or right side of the screen. It is a way easier and more reliable than now.
I like a lot the new gestures feature, like someone said in the previous responses, some customization for the gestures will be greatly appreciated.
No because I use a very similar just MUCH more cutomisable method with better results.
I disabled Nav bar using jOneplustools app via new quick settings option and use this app instead. https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ation&hl=en_GB
called: Swipe Navigation
FULLY customisable long press actions and sensitivity. Compatible with most roms and quick and easy to set up.
