When trying to access the custom recovery it asks for a password but i havent set one. I use lineage os 16 and when i get OTA updates the rom is able to update through the custom recovery without a password. I have tried to use the password that i use to unlock my custom rom but that doesnt work. Can you help?

It is the same with my santoni and Lineage 15.1 and 16.0 and OrangeFox 10.1_02 and OrangeFox 10.1_01
It works with OrangeFox 9.0 "Successfully decrypted with default password."
Did you try OrangeFox 9.0 ?

The last time i used one of the OrangeFox 9 versions i remember it encrypting my data partition on my phone making me reinstall the custom Rom so i havent rolled back to OrangeFo 9 versions since. Do you have any idea how to decrypt it on the latest version or should i just wait for a patch from lineage or the Orangefox maintainer as i dont want to risk my data being wiped on my phone
I have a problem with the screen date.
I also tried version 8 and 9 and 10.
My screen is 2018, instead of 2020.
Which is the solution.
I have this problem for about 4 months.
I don't know where is the mistake .
Can anyone help me solve the problem?
Love these recovery
I always use these recovery sir and I loved it
Hi,
Every time I try to restore a backup (system, data, boot and vendor from Android 10) i end up whit boot logo and nothing happens anymore. I use OrangeFox-R10.1_02. Has anyone encountered such problems before?
I'm doing something wrong?
1. Download the OrangeFox zip file to your device
2. Reboot to your custom TWRP-based Recovery
3. Install the OrangeFox zip file as a normal zip
4. The device will automatically reboot into OrangeFox recovery after installation (allow this to happen)
I have not been set the any lockscreen pattern or pin.
I install using above steps but when it reboots automatically in Orange Fox Recovery it asks password to decrypt the data.
What is the solution for this?

Then what about this recovery, how can i can use this as decrypted?
flashed recovery.img of OrangeFox-R11.0_0-Stable-santoni.zip on xiaomi redmi 4x
and the phone cant reboot. It auto starts in orangefox recovery mode with data partition encrypted message
if i press the power button it auto restarts into recovery mode.
(not sure if relevant i had miui 10 rooted with magisk and i had twrp 3.2.3-1 i believe, i updated to miui 11 and lost the twrp, only mi-recovery would start, and after that i did this recovery flashing of orangefoxR11)
there was no password set on the phone.
Edit:
the nightmare continued:
OrangeFox-R10.0_3-Stable-santoni.zip recovery.img i flashed this in fastboot
then orangefox loaded.
i pressed exit to system
then the phone was just stuck on loading screen which wasnt really doing anything. (no loading icon on bottom, just standard Mi screen stuck) volume up + power did nothing, volume down+power let me into fastboot again
from here i flashed the older orangefox-r10.0.3 but didnt work, same constant mi screen.
as last resort i downloaded mi flash tool https://xiaomiflashtool.com/download/xiaomi-flash-tool-20200314
and https://androidmtk.com/download-xiaomi-usb-drivers
and stock firmware https://androidmtk.com/download-xiaomi-stock-rom-for-all-models
then successfully flashed the stock.
had to wait a good while until the system started but now im back to stock and my story is finished here, i won't mess with it any more

Hold power and volume down to go into fastboot. Then flash a stock fastboot rom.

FAQ:
1. INSTALLING ORANGEFOX RECOVERY FROM STOCK MIUI RECOVERY (adb/fastboot method):
You need a PC for this. If you do not have a PC, or access to a PC, then you are stuck!
1. Install adb, fastboot, and the relevant USB drivers onto your PC
2. Install the Mi Flash tool onto your PC
3. Download the OrangeFox zip file to your phone, and to your PC
4. Extract recovery.img from the OrangeFox zip file, and copy recovery.img to your PCs adb directory
5. Reboot your phone into fastboot/bootloader mode
6. Unlock your bootloader
7. Open up a command line window on your PC
8. Change to the adb directory on your PC
9. Hotboot OrangeFox by running the command:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
10. After OrangeFox has booted up, check that everything is working eg, that it has mounted the data partition successfully, and that the touchscreen works.
11. Select Install, then find and select the OrangeFox zip, and swipe to install it
12. After installation, the phone will automatically reboot into OrangeFox
13. If your installed ROM is MIUI, then you can optionally go to the OrangeFox menu and install magisk or supersu
14. Enjoy!
2. SETTING UP MIUI OTA:
1. Download the most up-to-date release of OrangeFox Recovery
2. Download a full MIUI ROM that will be the basis of your future MIUI experience, and copy it to your phones storage
3. Flash the OrangeFox Recovery zip with your current custom recovery (or follow the steps in the thread for installing from adb/fastboot)
4. Reboot into OrangeFox Recovery (this will have happened automatically if you flashed the OrangeFox zip)
5. Go to the OrangeFox settings, and enable these MIUI OTA settings -
a. Support MIUI incremental OTA
b. Include system in OTA survival
c. Incremental OTA signature verification
d. Aggressive stock recovery deactivation
e. Disable DM-Verity
7. Go to the Wipe menu, and wipe data, cache, and dalvik
8. Flash your full MIUI ROM. After the ROM is flashed, OrangeFox will start the "OTA_BAK" process, which will backup your system and boot partitions into the /sdcard/Fox/OTA directory. You must NOT delete any of the files in the /sdcard/Fox/OTA directory. If you do, then incremental OTA updates will most definitely fail.
9. Reboot your phone, and start to use your phone normally
10. When MIUI notifies you that there is an update, download the update, using the MIUI updater app, and allow it to reboot automatically to OrangeFox
11. OrangeFox will install the update automatically (this might take several minutes)
12. OrangeFox will reboot the phone automatically upon completion of the installation of the MIUI OTA update
13. After this, you will not need to flash a full ROM any more - just follow the steps in #10 above
14. If you want to move to a completely different version/build of MIUI, then you will first need to clean-flash the full ROM of that MIUI build, as described above.
3. RETURNING TO A MIUI ROM FROM A TREBLE ROM:
A. Treble ROMs use MIUIs cust partition for their vendor image. This process removes the Xiaomi proprietary files that are necessary for MIUI to run. These files must be restored, otherwise MIUI will not work properly.
B. For this purpose, the cleanest and easiest way to return to MIUI from a Treble ROM is to flash a full fastboot MIUI ROM, using the Mi Flash tool.
C. If you did not create a backup of your MIUI cust partition to MicroSD or USB-OTG before installing a Treble ROM, then you must use the method just described above.
D. If you DID create a backup of your MIUI cust partition (in the newest versions of OrangeFox, this would be the vendor partition it points to the same location as cust) to MicroSD or USB-OTG, then you can use OrangeFox to install MIUI when coming from a Treble ROM - but you have to take certain steps:
1) Backup your internal memory to an external device (eg, MicroSD, USB-OTG, or your PC). DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP!
2) Copy the latest stable MIUI ROM to your MicroSD or USB-OTG storage
3) Boot OrangeFox
4) Make sure that OrangeFox can read your MicroSD or USB-OTG storage, and can see the MIUI ROM that you copied there. This is the ROM that you will install in the steps below.
5) Select the Wipe menu and wipe everything - system, dalvik, cache, vendor, etc (except MicroSD/USB-OTG)
6) Format data (format - not wipe) - you will lose all the contents of your internal memory after doing this
7) Reboot OrangeFox - you will see a message saying No OS installed
- just swipe to reboot OrangeFox
8) Restore the backup of your MIUI cust partition (in the latest releases of OrangeFox, this will need to be restored to the "vendor" partition)
9) Flash your MIUI ROM
10) Reboot to system, and wait for a long time ...
11) When ready, restore your backup of your internal memory from your external storage device.
4. FLASHING ROMS:
Flashing a ROM is usually a straightforward process. You can either do a "clean" flash, or a "dirty" flash.
First things:
1. Do NOT flash a ROM in a queue with other zips. Always flash a ROM on its own, and when flashing is completed, reboot OrangeFox, before doing anything else.
2. If you ever wipe the /vendor partition (when you are preparing to flash a ROM), then you must first reboot OrangeFox - before flashing the ROM (that is - if you want OrangeFox to patch dm-verity and forced-encryption successfully).
3. Please note that, if you do not follow both of the above instructions, and you encounter problems afterwards (which you definitely will), I will not answer any questions.
A. "Clean flashing" (Strongly recommended)
1) Backup your applications, settings, SMS messages, call logs, etc Do NOT skip this step.
2) Bootup OrangeFox Recovery
3) Select "Wipe"
4) Swipe to reset to defaults (this will restore the installed ROM to a known state, and will remove apps/settings that might be incompatible with the ROM that you wish to install)
5) Return to the main OrangeFox menu
6) Select "Install"
7) Choose the ROM that you want to flash
8) Swipe to flash.
9) Reboot OrangeFox recovery - before doing anything else - so that any changes to partitions/filesystems done by flashing the new ROM will take full effect
10) Flash whatever else you might want to flash (eg, GAPPs, magisk, etc)
11) Reboot your device
12) Wait for a long time while the new ROM sets itself up (go and make a cup of tea!)
13) Enjoy
B. "Dirty flashing" (NOT recommended)
1) Bootup OrangeFox Recovery
2) Select "Install"
3) Choose the ROM that you want to flash
4) Swipe to flash
5) Wipe cache and dalvik
6) Reboot OrangeFox recovery - before doing anything else - so that any changes to partitions/filesystems done by flashing the new ROM will take full effect
7) Flash whatever else you might want to flash (eg, GAPPs, magisk, etc)
8) Reboot your device
9) Enjoy
NOTE: Dirty flashing a ROM is NOT recommended. It can cause all kinds of random problems. Always choose to "clean flash"
5. "YOUR SYSTEM HAS BEEN DESTROYED" scenarios:
A) If you have one of these, then, yes, you might be in deep trouble! But this has nothing to do with OrangeFox. It is rather a result of your decisions and what you have chosen to do, or to flash.
B) For possible solutions, Google is your friend.
C) Salient advice: next time, look very carefully before flashing anything. It is your responsibility to ascertain and completely understand, a) what you are installing, b) what instructions it is giving to the recovery, c) what it will do as part of the installation, and d) what it will do after the installation. Otherwise, there will be tears.

I have made few changes. Please check with latest build.
Thanks. It work well on my redmi 5. However, similar to the official TWRP, it cannot view the content of internal storage and ask for password to decryption (miui 10.2 eu roms). For flashing new ROMs, its not problem since I copy ROM/ Zip to SD card to mount in TWRP. With this new recovery hope that someday I will install Android P (pixel experience)

Can you please help me with something? No matter what ROM I install on my Asus Zenfone Max M2, the system does not show up on bootloader. I have TWRP 3.5 installed. I swiped system, vendor, cache, dalvik. I flashed stock a10 firmware and then I have flashed the ROM. I tried with both Project Sakura and Arrow OS[official], but upon rebooting my phone gets stuck in fastboot mode. I can fix that by flashing "vbmeta.img" from fastboot and then my phone goes to bootloader, but it still won't boot to system, it gets stuck in a loop with the asus logo. How can I fix this?

Hello, just wanna ask 2 things, does this rom have gapps build-in and does NFC works?
os is awesome
I need a 64 bits vendor
Nice, does it work on the A10S SM-A107M?
hey guys.. the ROM is just amazing... I just have 1 question.. how can I enable the SIM cards icon on status bar? I just see them when I pull down the nav panel. thanks and good job
The best rom that the a10 can have, excellent performance both in battery and in games.
I cannot get Magisk working.
Wipe cache, data, dalvik cache, system, vendor, product
Flash ROM zip
Flash Bitgapps
Flash Magisk 21.4.zip
wipe -> format data, otherwise /sdcard not available
Reboot
Everything seems to work nicely but after installing Magisk Manager it says Magisk is not installed.
Magisk should install in Recovery parallel to TWRP and a reboot with volume up held until first screen should boot system with Magisk according to Magisk documentation. But in this case always TWRP boots ( also if volume up is not held longer ). When started without volume up system boots, but without Magisk. Ideas?
This is how it should work according to Magisk documentation:
(Power up normally) → (System with NO Magisk)
(Recovery Key Combo) → (Splash screen) → (Release all buttons) → (System with Magisk)
(Recovery Key Combo) → (Splash screen) → (Long press volume up) → (Recovery Mode)
I somehow got it working.
I did not wipe system, vendor, product.
First flashed Magisk-patched stock image via Odin.
Boot into system, Magisk Manager shows Magisk working.
Then flashed TWRP via Odin, without Auto reboot.
Went to recovery immediately after flashing TWRP and installed Magisk 24.1.apk
Boot into system.
Reboot to recovery:
Installed ROM, wipe cache/dalvik
Installed Magisk 24.1.apk, wipe cache/dalvik
Format data
In contrast to Magisk documentation a normal power up (without volume up button held) leads to a system with Magisk.
Minor issue: Camera crashes when taking HDR photo
Hello! Does this work on a10s? (SM-A107M/DS)
Thanks!
I noticed another bug: Making calls via Bluetooth does not work.
I can connect the phone to my car stereo.
I can play sound via BT.
I can read the contacts and start dialling.
But during the call I get no sound via BT.
I have a problem crDroid stuck on the loading screen I believe I may have flash gapps separately now its not allowing me to boot into recovery and suggestions are welcomed.
Edit: Nevermind, I got it working... the ROM works great!!!
Very nice fast rom. Stock samsung rom is like a tutrle, crdroid rom is like a thunder. İ am feeling like , i got a new phone.

I have the same problem, it is a very serious problem for me. Does anyone know how to fix it?
8.4 update on the way ?
Does anyone know how to fix hfp audio streaming via bluetooth? .. Besides this huge problem, everything is great. Editing vendor?
NFC service seems to consume a lot of battery even though it is switched off.
According to BetterBatteryStats com.android.nfc holds a wakelock which consumes more than 20%...
Edit: I renamed system/app/nfcnci/nfcnci.apk to nfcnci.apk.txt
Now it is deactivated and the wakelock is gone. Hope this will improve battery life

Thanks for effort.
Previously I was on StagOS 11 R3, Andoid-N firmware.
Did wipe of everything including data partition.
Reboot after installation goes back to recovery.
dmesg log attached.
Any idea what did I miss?

Tried clean flash with new and old recovery.
Also tried dirty flash on StagOS 11.R3, still doesn't work.
With old TWRP and PBRP, after patching vendor image phone gets into hung state with sold light for few sends and then probing lights for few seconds alternately.
With latest TWRP, no errors but reboots into recovery after few seconds.
Fortunately StagOS 11.R3 still gets installed fine, battery life is poor though.
Anything to be done specifically to get crDroid working?
I tried undo-redo treble conversion, still same behavior.
İnstall los18.1 qfil image and boot TWRP format data and wipe cache system vendor and try install crdoid rom
With last attemp device didn't came out of EDL mode with notification light staying red, I had to let device run of battery.
For pleasant surprise, device booted to crDroid and is up till now without glitches.
Is there way to upgrade this to crDroid 9? I'll like to give it a try.
@pbteja you still have sources? Any newbie guide to build and troubleshoot will help.
