App launch speed - LG V60 ThinQ Real Life Review

OMG! Kim K posted another selfie with tons of cleavage! Rate this thread to express how quickly apps launch on the LG V60 ThinQ. A higher rating indicates that even the most intensive apps launch quickly and without hesitation, even if they are no longer in RAM.

So far it's snappier than the Essential running Android Q or DP2, even when burdened by processing both screens and Android auto. I'm quite pleased.

Lightning fast compared to the V30+ I replaced.
Pulling up GBoard to type something up used to take a half-second too long, just enough to be noticeable and annoying.
Not anymore. I'm very happy so far.

I just ordered the phone to replace my V30. Better life starting to take a dive. Can't wait to get it. The screen res and hz speed doesn't bother me..

Reduce animation scale to .5x and the phone FLYS

No issues in this department... although I usually turn animations OFF competely in developer options anyways on all my phones.

Why not turn them off completely? Just curious what your rationale is behind 0.50x vs OFF.

One of the best things I like about the custom Ron's I have built is the ability to make the animation scale pretty much anything you want. Some roms would use a seekbar and can set the scale in .01 increments. Some just changed the values and put them in .1 increments up to 1.0.
It's nice to have at least a little animation cause not all apps have their own animation value and take example the loading animation, spinning circle, will become more just a displayed icon rather than an animation. So for a brief period looks like the app froze. Where with using at least .01 of an animation scale it would still at least rotate, just extremely fast.
I am new to LG and the theme engine it uses, but would be interesting to dig in and see if those values can be overlaid in a theme.

Turning off animation for performance boost

I've got a decent firmware and its rooted and lag fixed (nearly 2300 on quadrant), but even so it's still not perfect. However, I have noticed that turning off the animations genuinely seems to make the phone fly, I know some of it is just because it takes less time for a screen to just appear than when it has to play an animation, but I actually think it's more than that. Things like adding widgets is now a LOT faster.
Also, live wallpaper, however simple it is, has a noticable (negative) impact on overall performance.
By changing to a static wallpaper and no animation, the phone is now extremely fast at all times.
You still get some animations on launcher pro, so its not totally bland!
Probably stating the obvious really, but it's something that seems to work well for me. I dont really miss the animations particularly, especially as it wasn't always smooth anyway.
i have to agree about the widget thing but i will have to spend some more time before i can comment on the overall performance.
i'd trade pretty fun animation for some performance hit
but that's just me

Atrix Laggy Live Wallpaper

This has been posted before, but it's been a while and this issue is really frustrating me, and it wasn't resolved, so I figure I'll bring it back up.
When I use a launcher with an app drawer transition (LauncherPro, ADW, ANYTHING) I get a HUGE slowdown in framerate when using live wallpapers and pressing the app drawer button. Is this something to do with the live wallpapers not being optimized for Tegra II? Moto is not helpful because they just blame it on the launcher (MotoBlur doesn't have an app drawer transition animation, so there is no noticable lag). I have asked them and they say to report it to the app developer (LauncherPro etc). LauncherPro doesn't respond.
I think it is absolutely rediculous that I can't even use live wallpapers on this "powerful" phone without a huge frame rate reduction. Someone PLEASE help.
Thanks
Have you tried un/checking the "high quality scrolling" option in LP advanced settings?
I fixed that problem with mine by switching to a NS4G lol. Single core and twice as fast, go figure.
The Atrix is a great phone overall, and I miss it sometimes but wouldn't trade back for a minute. Hopefully GB will help with it as it's supposed to support dual core better. I used to complain about the same thing.

Doesn't do anything. Still laggy.

Scrolling smoothness

Some phones exhibit choppy scrolling, especially when navigating long web pages when multiple apps are running in the background. Rate this thread to express how you smooth scrolling feels on the Vivo Nex under such conditions. A higher rating indicates that scrolling is always buttery smooth, even when you're reading a 10,000 word article on "how to kiss a girl".

I detect no choppy scrolling so far on this phone. I have the 845/8GB memory version of the NEX and am happy with it so far. The phone is new and I don't have any "FREE" apps on the phone as those apps always seem to slow down performance when collecting information on everything you do. Always read the UELA and make your choice.
In terms of performance, all is great and buttery smooth, however two things are worth noticing: developer settings activates red bar on top of the screen (I wanted to reduce animations time and choose the BT codecs etc), Google Now feed is a bit choppy.

Scrolling is as fast as it gets on this device I use Bromite as browser with Adguard PRO yes impressive scrolling performance en general speed.
The Redbar is idiotic of Vivo but you can remove it with the app autonotifcation.
Google feed is little bit choppy with the Pixel Bridge I use with Rootless Pixel Launcher, but I think it is a problem isolated to just this app and not more.. maybe it can be solved with some of the settings for Vivos security and battery enchantments the seem to make some of the apps missbehave.
take a look on twitter app . To me, it seems choppy.
Performance is extremely fast and smooth
This vivo software is amazing
But themes Chinese app is crapppp

Got solved by using navigation gestures instead buttons

OEM skin/software

For people who like MIUI this is the best yet, MIUI 10 has plenty of good stuff, I hate Xiaomi for including ads everywhere but there are various ways to completely disable them . The first thing I did after getting the phone was to disable recommendations on all its native apps and in settings and after that enable USB debugging and removed all useless apps like MI Picks and Mi Video. Now its just a smooth continous and whole lot of pure MIUI.
I like the software optimasations and battery life optimisations on this phone.

To be honest I do not like it. I am not a skinned Android person. I like the stock android look, I am not a fan of my phone looking almost like it's running IOS, which it doesn't anymore but older versions of MIUI and other skinned Android version from Chinese phone makers really do look like. There is something broken with the power management, especially on MIUI 10.3.7 global. My battery life isn't awful, it's good but can be better. Android will sometimes use 75% of the battery, and just leave apps open even after you have closed out of them in recents, and this wouldn't be a problem if it was just one app, but it's all of them! I do not need or want Instagram using 9% of my battery when I have only had it open for maybe 15 minutes (I am logged into 4 Instagram accounts so that might be the cause of it using so much of my battery), Youtube sometimes uses like 20% when I check the power usage. This kind of forces me to ha seems like an issue to me. Also, I can't find other reports of this so it might just be my phone, but I have reinstalled MIUI like 5 times already so I am pretty sure this is an issue many have.

I have noticed that some of the high battery usage is being caused by the location is turned on, but this doesn't justify the crazy battery usage of apps.
Miui is nice, but needs a lot improvements in working and smoothness

Overall speed

Would you say that the Motorola One Hyper is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Motorola One Hyper exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?

It's not super quick but it will do the job would not fancy hi res gaming
I think overall, its pretty decent and more than sufficient for everyday normal usage.
There's something wrong with the default rom as it stutters in places it really shouldn't. You can often have smooth times while everything flies by, then suddenly it just starts to stutter. It can be something simple as a list of text or a fully loaded page that you are scrolling.
- It can often happen when an app opens another app over itself, like redditapp->twitterapp->twitterapp gallery layer.
- I noticed it happening inside the default launcher widget menu, scrolling back and forth over certain parts just stutter.
- I noticed that bringing up the app-search menu in nova launcher for about 3 times can make the transition animations stutter. It's smooth like the first 2 times but then it goes bonkers.
It's like something is leaking and gets overwhelmed under the hood frequently.
It's on part with Z4 (same processor)
