Galaxy S20 Manuals(All Versions) - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Guides, News

Today Samsung has published S20 manuals, not much info on 5G though, I'd like to know if there is an On/Off 5G toggle for places where 5G isn't available, so 5G radios won't waste battery power.

not clear if the US version, which will have an e-sim, will also have a nano-sim slot - and be dual sim (like iphones)

But Htc one dual sim exist. There is a big possibility that Samsung will follow the trend...(just rember that Samsung has S4 active experience so S5 is waterproof, and there is S4mini dual sim.
I don't live in so called mature market (us,UK,de,etc) but I live in European Union contry and I have a problem: I need to carry 2 phones all the time becaouse I have a phone from my employer and one personal. My employer does not give me internet acces. In that situation all my problems will be gone with a flagship dual sim...
P.S. I owned all the flagships from Samsung original S to S4, all the note series, xperia Z1 and xperia Z ultra and Galaxy gear. ATM I use S4mini dual for work+second sim for Internet and Z Ultra for everything else.
P.P.S. If Samsung will go out with S5 dual sim I will be the first to preorder.
Since Dual SIM is mostly popular in not rich countries that use prepaid those phones are usually low cost and therefore have low specifications that is why flagship phones like S5 will not have Dual SIM. Do you need full Dual SIM or you just want to swith between them. I am using dual SIM adapter.
I will not be a fan of S5 dual SIM. The S5 is perfect as it is. And having dual SIM will just lower its specs.
I disagree with your opinion. Tje chinese version of S5 dual sim is exactly like the international version. Too bad they don't release a international version...

I'm also waiting for this phone to come out. I'm currently using HTC one dual sim. No complain about it except the camera. Hope Samsung S5 camera is better.
The specs are the same as the none dual sim. One thing we're not sure is the built in memory, it does not say on gsmarena.

Hello,
You mentioned a DS adapter. I take it that means you needs at least one SIM card spot available or is there an alternative. Such as a schematic for a HW setup that interfaces to the device without a slot available. I'm American with opportunities to work and live in Brazil. Sprint 's CDMA is ok for the US, but my SGSIII was not able to write GSM PRLs ( and function) and my phone was worthless there.
I was hoping that some commonality between HW revisions (every single business model supports this concept, why not here??) where Samsung could atleast use the same PCB footprints and populate components as needed for regional readiness.
Any ideas for my situation are welcomed... Or, should I say a univrsal situations.
In most countries the 9009 is useless as the 2nd sim is for CDMA only, we'll have to wait and see if china will release a 9002 version with both sim socket to support GSM and 3G.
The S3 (i9302), S4 (i9502), Note 2 (N7102) and Note 3 (N9002) all have the dual sim version, so I expect the S5 to have it soon.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems most/all varients will have GSMx on 1 and CDMAx (in my case) as 2 on standy by. I see SIM as the easiest way to switch between, but if carriers such as Oi (Brasil) has PRLs that can be first unhidden and then wrote as the radio it would solve some issues. I just believe SIM technology is simlplier and less work involved (to obtain the PRLs).
Since we can put our phones on other carriers Sprint to Verision for example, that should apply on supported GSM network also? I was just stuck on my Sprint SGSIII having no ability to deviate from the BS CDMA networks...

Sure the camera HW is better with stills and video (boo on the 1X zoom though). SW optimization (including Build Prop changes )and better applications will drive overall pix quality and reference. The question will be how much, my SGSIII is far better for both than any iPiece around, IMO......

if you want one to access the sprint network, I think you will have to get the phone from sprint, if they have one, the G9009 only support cdma 800 from the chinese provider, I think it's locked to the network.

Essentially I see that I’m forced under that scenario (which is fine), but just interested in knowing if it will internally support GSM on its secondary antenna and how versatile (will it support in PRL (or equal) development on most or all GSM supported networks, specifically Brazil and Italy) it will be. Also the difficulty to change between 1 &2, if there is any. Thanks

These are the actual bands for the g9009 on the china telecom network.
sim 1
CDMA 800MHz
WCDMA 850/1900/2100MHz will only pickup signal whiles roaming
GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
sim 2
GSM 900/1800/1900MHz
if you have used dual sim phones before, you will have no problem with this, when receiving call, it will indicate which sim with the icon 1 or 2.
when making a call through the dialing pad, there is a icon sim 1 or sim 2 to send.
when making a call through the phone book, as soon as you press the telephone number, there is a pop up to select which sim you want to make the call from.
There are other alternative with the slide down menu or through a widget.
all these are from my i9192, but should be the same.
hopefully they will bring out a g9002 version and not have gsm only for sim 2, but if this is for china market it seems to be the case, at present it seems like the i9192 (S4 mini dual sim) is the only samsung phone that support WCDMA and GSM in both sim 1 and 2 if i'm guessing correctly.
Here is that phone we dream of:
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s5_dualsim_version_hits_china-news-8222.php
However this phone will not see the light of the day in other countries besides China. Sad. I actually have some strong arguments against S5 due to dual sim adapter which I like to use. Probably using this adapter might affect the water resistance capabiluty. Since everything is so tightly packed under the cover when adding dual sim adapter there is a risk of leaking the water in since it might cause the cover not to close very tight. This is what I currently have in S4. So it is water resistance or ability to switch between sim cards. Choice is yours.
Questions about s5 dual SIM
Hi folks I have many questions....
Where as possible buy the S5 dual SIM?
The model is G9009D?
What the frequency for 4G/LTE? Here in Brazil the frequency is 2600.
Can I use both SIM card for GSM?
Has Google Play?
Has english language?

hi,
lets talk about the "D" (G9009D) I think its means Dual-Sim no more "2"(G9002) and it will be conflict with N9002 note 3 if thy use "2"
from my understanding this phone will work in china as CDMA 800MHz(using china telecom sim) and will work as WCDMA 850/1900/2100 MHz out side china if using any els provider sim.
please correct me if i am wrong, and if some can confirm

Is the Moto X Play a Dual LTE device?

Hey!
Are each sim slots 4G capable in the dual sim variant? Because I have an LG G3 currently and the thing is only one slot is 4G capable, the other one is restricted to 2G (which just kills the point of a dual sim device for me).
Thanks in advance!
Nope, same as you have. 1 - LTE + 1 - GSM
To be precise: only one SIM slot at a time can be chosen as full LTE/3G/2G capable, the respective other SIM slot is then only 2G capable without any data. But you can change the selection of the slots on the fly, so it does not matter which SIM is in which slot.
That's great to hear. Which region phone do you have? Just curious.

That's great but who can actually sell me one. This phone seems to be like rocking horse droppings, talked about but non existent :crying:
I dropped my V10 from one foot last week and something internal has gone making a section of the screen dark. No cracks dents or otherwise - so much for the mil-spec six foot drop test rating....
Desperately need a replacement and the timing seemed prescient until it has become apparent that LG doesn't want to make hay whilst the sun shines over Samsung's nightmare !
If anyone knows where a dual sim lurks, please let me know
Philippines v20 is dual SIM. And if the sales person is right, doesnt share w sdcard like the note 7
Hong Kong and Taiwan version of LG V20 will probably be a dual sim version and both of them will be announced in 20/10, perhaps you can get one in the near future via parallel import.

I can also confirm that the V20 in Philippines is dual sim. LG concept store called me yesterday to inform me that the LG V20 is dual sim (they called because the initial specs says only single sim and wanted to confirm if I still wanted to pre-order). and yes I was also told that the micro sd slot doesn't share the sim2 slot (they say they already have the demo units and they have checked)
In the specs here
http://www.lg.com/ph/mobile-phones/lg-V20-titan
It calls it True Dual SIM which to me is a nudge at those who share with the SD card - in my opinion one of the dumbest things designers ever came up with. Hmm I'll make a Dual sim for the heavy duty users and remove their storage expansion....
So I've been seriously considering this phone. It seems that the Taiwan version (H990DS) is the one to get as it supports more North American bands, unlike the Hong Kong version (H990N). I've been scouring the web trying to find a user manual for either of them, but LG hasn't posted it yet, only the US versions. One of the things I've come across is that it appears as if the 2nd sim slot only supports 3G, not LTE. Does anybody have one of these yet to confirm or deny it? FYI, I'm in Canada, but travel to the US quite a bit where I use the T-Mobile $3/day plan. It sucks having to pop the back off and swap cards every time I cross the border, but if it's true that the 2nd slot only supports 3G, then I might as well get the single sim version.
may i know does anyone have any info regarding the dual sim version configuration ?
which is it below ?
- when one sim on 4G (browsing or VoLTE) the other Sim drops to 2G (both sim switchable with in phone sim management)
or
- when one sim on 4G (browsing or VoLTE) the other Sim drops to 3G (both sim switchable with in phone sim management)
or
- SIM 1 always on/have 4G/3G/2G the SIM 2 always only 2G (non switchable !!)
I have the hong kong version H990N, both sim supports 4G+3G, 3G+3G or 2G simultaneous on either sim 1 or sim 2, if anyone needs the specs of supporting bands on this model, please let me know.

sorry to ask but can you add in the specifics ... what you are saying are when on standby time and that we all know (which clears out my option 3) but what i want to know is the moment you surf on 4G or call (either sim) what does the other sim becomes ?
drops to 3G or 2G ?
this is important to me as 2G will phase out end this year in my country so if this phone will drop to 2G means its useless to me and show no signal.
side note i saw a posting on the Philippines version it stated that the second sim is only on 2G
source ---> http://www.phonemore.com/phone/lg-v20-h990ds-dual/2847
when one sim is in use the other sim is disabled, but since i only have 2 3G sim, the othere sim still stays on 3G but is not usable.
I think only a handful of phones can do 2 sim active, they are all chinese brand.

Hey, could you list the LTE bands? Thinking of importing this version for ATT.
Gsm 850/900/1800/1900
wcdma 850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100
td-scdma 1900/2000
lte b1/b2/b3/b4/b5/b7/b8/b12/b17/b20/b26/b28/b38/b39/b40/b41
It is always the case that one sim can run at 4g while another at 3g, i got 990N
At least there is improvement, it was the mi 5 that was the first phone, if you are talking about a none chinese brand, sony xperia XP the first note 7, then V20.
I got the Taiwan 990ds for 2 days and love it!
It supports 4G+3G (switchable between SIM1 or SIM2), meaning both sims will function in countries with 3G and above only. It also has separate TF card slot unlike the Samsung Note 7/S7 Edge which sacrifices SIM2 when using TF.
Fingerprint sensor is much faster than V10 and battery life is amazing compared to V10 (used for 16 hrs with a few hours of browsing and 2+ hours call, messaging, etc still with 10% battery left.... Forgot to check SOT though).
It is definitely a few notches better than the V10 and the S7 Edge (which I somehow didn't like the grip), and possibly on par with the Note 7 (iris scanner is way way better the finger prints!).
Now, if only we can get root it will be perfect!

Single/Dual SIM versions?

I've read that the phone will come in two versions, one without the second SIM card slot (but still the uSD). Is there a way to know which version will ship in Europe? You can see the versions number on the official website: http://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/mobile-phones/huaweip10plus-en-sup.htm
VKY-L09 is single SIM
VKY-L29 is dual SIM
I don't get why they would remove this functionality for some parts of the world.
A lot of companies are backwards having this hybrid slot, giving you the choice of one (dual SIM) or the other (single SIM + expandable storage), although they are stuck in the 2013 bubble...some companies have actually moved on from there, but I'm surprised why this has not developed with major phone manufacturers.

I received my pre-order yesterday, it's the VKY-L09 single SIM variant in the Netherlands, so I suppose the same is true for the rest of Europe.
I was speaking with a Huawei 'expert' at Carphone Warehouse yesterday, and asked about the dual/single situation in the UK. He said he has been told by an insider that a ROM flash wil be made available to enable the dual sim mode in single sim phones. He said the actual board and connector inside the phone are already in place, it's just the ROM that disables it and the sim tray that are different. He said his source said the ROM will be available in a month or two and the SIM trays will start popping up on eBay.....
Sounds like either the biggest marketing play ever to sell phones and hope no one really cares it doesn't happen, or Huawei realise the issue, and despite the UK networks not wanting it when they provde the phone to us, Huawei realise the potential of offereing a dual SIM option. I have to say he did not give me the hard sell at all, he said they only have a black phone in stock (and only one) and if I wanted white/gold (which I do) to wait a few days and try again. He had a P10 of his own, and was gushing about the P10 Plus like a schoolboy geek!
So there is hope yet!
Just been speaking to a senior manager at Huawei UK who picked up on this when I asked their Twitter account when the update would be available...
IT IS NOT TRUE the actual hardware is different with the single SIM version only having a single aerial so there's no way it can be flashed to make it duel SIM
WHy h why do sales people feel the need to say things that are not true!
Anyway my (probably single SIM) P10 Plus should be arriving today .....

What I'm saying is people at any company will tell you anything to stop tampering with it both software and hardware. I have a dual SIM firmware on my l09 edition. If i can get a dual SIM tray or nodded tray I'll give it a go. Until both phones have been disassembled and had a look then all we can do is hope and try

So that means Huawei lied to me? I guess possible..... not wanting single SIM to be easily changed to dual SIM.
So ALL we need is the SIM tray? The hardware definitely inside?
Wonder which country have the L29. UK only L09, I am thinking dual sim L29 as it will come in handy to have 2 sim if needed.

Hi all,
I've get my P10 Plus in UK couple of days ago. I was really disappointed that model doesn't support dual sim. Huawei Support also told me that my phone is single SIM only plus SD Card. But when I took a torch and flash inside SIM card slot I can easily see second set of sim card pins right upon empty space in tray. So I think it's highly possible to change ROM only and get Dual Sim Version. We need to wait couple weeks to release files for both devices and than check that
If you rebrand to a dual sim model, you can use both sims. Many people reported success already. Google for rebrand huawei p10 plus -- most success has been reported if you rebrand to VKY-L29C636 version.
Confirmed, i rebranded and flashed the VKY-L29C636 on my single sim and it worked, the only thing that i lost is the theme function. Somebody say how can i fix it?

Galaxy S20 Dual-SIM

So, the pre-order page is very sparse on details about the Galaxy S20 specs. I went ahead and ordered the Galaxy S20 5G, but needed to confirm that it supports dual-SIM, as this is a key requirement for me. I phoned Samsung customer support and they have told me that the only S20 that is Dual-SIM is the Galaxy S20, and the 5G versions are all single-SIM.
So I have cancelled my pre-order for the S20 5G, but am now fighting an uphill battle to get my upgrade programme eligibility re-instated so I can use it to order the S20 4G
Obviously this information is dependant on Samsung Customer support knowing the details on the specs of the various S20 models, but if you're after a dual-sim version, you may want to double check before ordering any of the 5G variants.
A bit confused about the validity of what Samsung Customer support told me, as at least one retailer in UK is showing the S20 5G as having Dual SIM.... Ah well, I don't NEED 5G anyway, so happy to save myself £100
Been checking more online sites, as well as mobile providers, and they all seem to be showing ALL of the 5G models being Dual SIM or 'Hybrid SIM'.
Contacted Samsung Customer Support again, and at first, they confirmed to me that the specific model I ordered (SM-G981BZADEUA) is SINGLE SIM. I asked them which S20 models are Dual SIM, and got the following -
All S20 series |Hybrid SIM + e-sim compatible
You can use:
SIM card in Slot 1, micro SD storage in Slot 2
SIM Card in Slot 1, SIM card in Slot 2
SIM card in Slot 1, micro SD storage in Slot 2 + E-SIM
Devices allow you have up to Dual SIM (you cannot operate 3 SIM functionality)
In fact, here's the whole chat transcrpipt -

Please can you confirm for me which of the Galaxy S20 models have Dual Sim ? Specifically, does the model SM-G981BZADEUA have Dual SIM, or is it single SIM ?

Thank you so much for waiting, the SM-G981BZADEUA is a single SIM Roger.

Ok that is concerning, because all the online retailers and phone networks I am looking at show that model to be a Dual SIM nano Hybrid

OK I am confused then..... You just told me that the SM-G981BZADEUA is NOT Dual SIM. As far as I know, the SM-G981BZADEUA is the black S20 5G. However, the latest you have told me is that ALL S20 models support 2 sims
13:46

Sorry for the confusion, our product support specialist just clarify this to us and that is the exact information Roger.

So, If I order the Samsung Galaxy S20 5G, using Samsung Upgrade Programme in UK can you confirm that it will DEFINITELY allow me to use 2 SIM cards ?
13:48
SAMSUNG -
Yes Roger based on the device specification.

Can anyone confirm if this is indeed correct, and that all of the S20 series ('Global' device, not US device) can take 2 SIMs ?
I have visited Samsung stores in the London and can confirm that they are selling hybrid S20 devices. You're therefore able to use two micro sims or a micro sim and sd card.
