Hi folks,
I have a rooted and unlocked OP2 and I would like to flash a custom Kernel (I'm still choosing one), but I have found two issues:
1.- Stock Kernel: I would like to have the original Stock Kernel or a way to backup from my phone (only the Kernel, not perform a full nandroid backup), did you know how can I do or where I could found it?
2.- TWRP, afterrooted and unlock my phone, I have to encrypt the data for corporate email requirements and now I can't access any data when I boot in TWRP (also install from ZIP's). Do you know any way to access this data (with encripted partition support) or how can I upload a ZIP file to flash it?
Thank you in advance!
Kind Regards
Hi,
Reading posts you could find a lot of answers...
For the Stock Kernel, I have founded in this link (It's extracted from this post (Thanks to XQ55)
But I'm still need the support to boot TWRP with an encrypted partition...
Hello,
I have an S7Edge and looking to flash it. I am currently in Nougat 7.0 and would like to backup my data before proceeding with the root.
I have flashed the phone with TWRP but when following this tutorial: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7...overy-official-twrp-hero2lte-3-0-0-0-t3334084
People say that you have to format the Data Partition in order to proceed with the installation of SuperSu and NO Dm verity.
Is there a way to backup my phone data [w or w/o TWRP] before ROOTING my phone with TWRP (format data partition to decrypt, install no dm verity and install super su)? This is so after my phone is rooted, I can restore all the apps, pictures, etc.
Thank you for the help! :fingers-crossed:

Hi,
Thank your forwarding me to your thread. I think I figured out a way to fully back it up with the following steps:
1) If you are in Nougat, downgrade to 6.0.1
2) Root your phone by flashing CF-Auto-Root in Odin (it should not wipe any data)
3) Once phone is rooted, you can backup your phone with TitaniumBackup or Flashfire
4) Save the backup in your sd or other external
5) Update phone with official or custom Nougat FW
6) Root phone via custom recovery (TWRP), will have to format all your data
7) One phone fully booted up and rooted, restore from backup with TitaniumBackup or Flashfire
Let me know how it goes
Hi
I am unable to understand the concept of Decryption. I have been rooting my phone since the time of Samsung S3. I currently own a 64gb Nexus 6p with build number N4F26T. I use the sticky guide given here to root my phone and install custom recovery.
Now I want to apply pixel mods, but they demand verity check disabled. When I go in the security of my phone, it says Phone Encrypted in Encryption. I have checked all of the threads and forums regarding this but there is no clear guideline.
Do I have to decrypt my data? If yes, how will I be going on with this process? I see the format user data command but I am on Nougat 7.1.1 so I think this is not applicable to me. But no where has it been mentioned that I have to decrypt any other way.
Any help would be appreciated as I have always received from this community. How will I go on about the decryption? Please help soon as I currently have no data in it so its easier to format it.
You do not have to decrypt your data to use those MOD's. To disable variety check all you need to do is install a custom kernel or rom that does this by default. You will not lose any data by doing this. If you wanted to decrypt your data then you would have to format the data partition on your phone. This would obviously wipe your data so you would need to make a backup first on your PC. Some people think that decrypting your data will give you a slight speed bump but I've tried both ways and haven't noticed any real difference. So far I haven't run into any reason that the data partition would need to be decrypted to install anything.
This is a Question, so you are supposed to post in the Q/A section, not General.
First, you can't just decrypt the existing data on the phone, you'll have to wipe the device first and then NOT allow the encryption to happen on your fresh install. Make sure you already have USB debugging enabled. You need to perform a factory reset to wipe the phone. Then transfer from your PC either SuperSU (zipfile) or a no force-encrypt custom kernel such as EX Kernel or Franco (zipfile) to the root of the phone (or both). You can do this with TWRP's file manager. Before booting for the first time use TWRP's "Install" to flash either SU or your kernel. Now you can boot to system and your device will not be encrypted by default. Going forward with any updates that include flashing a new boot.img you need to reflash SU or the kernel (before booting) to avoid encryption.
First of all apologies about posting in the wrong section. Secondly, I have already rooted with Supersu. So now all I need to do is format the user data and I will have decrypted data right? It won't again get encrypted, right?
Secondly, thanks alot for such prompt responses. I am unable to find the thanks button that used to be there.
Is it possible to install TWRP recovery on the S8 without formatting data and without root?
Thanks in advance...

If your bootloader is unlocked meaning you have a international S8 then you flash twrp for your model threw Odin and it will be a custom recovery with no root however if you don't format data your data partition will remain encrypted and you won't be able to to a backup of your phone cause the data partition is encrypted and won't be accessible via twrp after that format data the encryption Will be temporary removed unless flash a decryptor zip easily found on xda to stop your stock rom kernel from encrypting it again while it's booting up from the first time but overall your answer is yes you can install twrp with having to root or format data however without formating data twrp is kind of useless

Hi,
Any root guide on how to do this? Seems all how to's on XDA require data format...
Can anyone tell me if twrp can decrypt data on a devbase rom with magisk ? loadsa bull cr ap guides which never seem to work ? i want to keep encryption but if something goes wrong it often takes the whole os with it, its easy to fix with mount data but nothing seems to make it work.
