Hello community
on my s10e with CR HadesQ, root and Android 10 adding buttons with the e.g. Nice Lock app no longer works,
and the alternative Good Lock works even less with
Android 10.
I would also be willing to install EDXposed on Android 9 or similar for system modification, the main thing is that I can finally change my navigation bar!
Thanks for tips & tricks!
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!
greetings from Vienna

Hi all,
I have owned my Nexus 4 for about 4 months now, and while I love the ability to customize my experience, I am always looking at ways of customizing that streamline things instead of adding more functionality. Rather than having 12 ways to do one thing at all times, I'd rather have the single best way to do 12 things at my disposal. I don't need HALO, the notification shade, and a notification widget all running at once to inform me about new notifications. When I look at the ROM scene on XDA, it seems like people are really interested in adding things to the standard android experience, but nobody seems to be working on trimming the unnecessary features away while adding things that work better/look and feel more elegant. I don't just mean debloated GApps packages, I mean ROMs that use Android's customizability do things better than Google intended.
To give a personal example, I am running stock Android on the Matr1x kernel with the Xposed framework installed to enable Pie Controls so I don't waste screen space, change the battery indicator to a circle/percentage, quick settings to get easy access to torch, settings, wifi, etc in the notification shade, and unicon to enable custom icons in the Google Experience Launcher so all my icons are uniform. This way I have as much information as possible easily accessible at all times, and my phone has a standardized look throughout. However, I feel like I am sticking it all together with tape and strings, and I am still stuck with some of stock android's bloat. It would be great if there were some people out there who shared a similar desire for streamlining the Android experience. Do any of you at XDA have any advice for me as I look for such a ROM, or is this about as good as it's going to get? If I could code I'd just do it myself .
Anyway, thanks for your time!

Plus one for this. Are you running KitKat 4.4.2?
4.4.1 at the moment as I haven't found the time to flash the update manually. Glad to see someone else gets where I am coming from .
Greetings everyone.
I recently acquired a preowned Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 SM-T237P For a really good price off ebay. I have used Kingroot to root it and have installed have managed to install Phillz Clockwork Mod 6 touch. What I want to know If there are any custom roms that allow the colors of the settings and other menus or at least have the background of the menus be black and the text white. Is there a module that does this on Xposed Framework? Also what version of the GAPPS do I need and how do I install them. I also want to get all Sprint and Samsung apps off as I'm on AT&T and dont care about the 3g features. The reason behind the need for color mod is I am visually impaired and have trouble seeing anything on a bright background. I all ready know about the negative color feature in settings, the problem with that it inverts colors on everything. This tablet is going be used for gaming and videos mostly so thats all I'm interested in. I don't particularly care about what version of Android I have as long as it runs the apps and I can use wifi and bluetooth. Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.
Can you link me to philz recovery you used? And you got permanent root with kingroot? Thanks
Hi to all of you !
- Sorry for asking and creating a new topic, but i just got my phone with Android 7.0 and i am asking if there is already the Way to gain Root ?
if so, can you please link me the topics ?
- Second question: i puted the nova launcher but when i double click to turn off, or on sometimes i dong get the screen on but only the touch bouttons. (i had to get back to the default Lg v20 louncher) anyone else has noticed this ?
- Does it exist any ''must have'' mod for any optimizations like for example, wish the ''screenshoot'' taker could had the buttons down and not on the top of the screen. Same for the ''clean all'' while closing the appliactions, it has a big screen so bringing ''close all down'' would have been much better''
- I have used greenify and cerberus for a long time with my previous phones, so do they work fully without root ?
- what is the most ''optimized'' and the most ''complete'' ROM for this phone here (if rooted) ?
Best regards and thank you in advance !!
Love this amazing phone...wish i can get the most of it by rooting it.
No it isn't rootable.
A forum search would have informed you.
Yes. Greenify and Cerberus work without root.
The are hardware buttons for screenshot functions. A Google search will inform you.
Search reveals all.
Hey guys,
up till today I'm still using a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with Android 4.3.
It is modded to the max to exactly meet my needs and "paranoia":
- Custom Rom TouchWiz based rom
- Custom Kernel with some special script based tweaks (for example: MAC randomization everytime I turn Wifi on - handy for time limited free access points and to prevent beeing tracked etc.)
- Full Disk Encryption with a password different than my unlock pin (so when the device is off it requires a long password, but when on only a shorter pin)
- Xposed with the "old" Xprivacy Pro, Greenify and lots of other useful modules (like device shutdown after x failed amounts of unlock password etc)
- Lightning Launcher (allows "pinned" widgets that do not scroll - like the clock always beeing shown on top of all my homescreens) and custom widgets made with UCCW
- Button mods (double tap menu button turns on/off auto rotation, long menu switches last two apps, long back kills foreground app etc.) and homebutton mod to turn on flashlight when held while device is locked (to turn it on blindly / without looking)
- Sidebar Launcher Appsi for all my apps (and using xprivacy to prevent certain apps from showing up in the list at all)
... etc etc.
It took me a long time to set up everything and whenever I bought a new phone I sold it soon after because they never could be modded that hard like my old note 3 could be. (not to mention the built in batteries - I HATE that so much about all new devices).
Long story short: The Mi A1 could maaaaybe finally be the device to replace my Note 3 - but for that I need to be able to really mod it hard again hehe.
What really is important to me is beeing able to use xposed and xprivacy (unfortunately the xprivacy lua is not that good as the old one as far as it reads in the description), controlling the device encryption with my own 20+ Character Passphrase while still having a shorter pin when the device is booted up (and it beeing "full device encryption" not just file based if that still exists?). Removing all google apps except the playstore (and the account manager - dont even want the google play services crap) and preferably beeing able to install modded playstore which does not autoupdate itself etc.

Do you guys think this is possible at all? And if so - should I stay with a 7.1.2 based rom or go for oreo? I mainly care about modability as I explained..
Hope someone is in the same boat or at least knows enough about this phone and the roms/kernels/availabe and working xposed mods to help me out.
There's pretty much no development for Nougat so it would be better if you were to get on oreo
Modabillity is pretty great with this phone so far
Look around on xda and see if you like it

but does xposed and stuff like modded playstore etc exist/work for oreo? and do you maybe know if its possible to have a different boot password than just the unlock pin when device is powered on?
and how about rootcloak and stuff like that? On my old note i can pretty much fake everything to apps and prevent root to be detected or feed them with fake data through xprivacy - but does this all still work to the same extend on the newer android versions? This safetynet bull**** has been around since when again? Can that still be fooled?

I'm not really sure about modded play store and boot password stuff but what I do know is that you can use Magisk (Similar to SuperSu + Extra useful mods) to hide root from certain apps that you choose
Xposed does work perfectly fine but it depends on the modules and whether they work on oreo. If not, magisk modules are also pretty good
If you happen to own a phone that you can flash Oreo on, (see, Lineage 15), then you can pretty much know and discover everything about Oreo and how modding works on it
I've been searching endlessly to no avail and really hope someone on here can help, as I'm running out of hair to remove. I bought a Sciecane 9" unit for my 2009 Forester, and while Ive been playing around with different launchers, one thing remains annoyingly consistent. Every time any app requests notification access ( for music stuff, by in large), I get " This feature is not available on this device". Like, what? This pretty much renders a lot of functionality useless with different launchers, which stinks because the one it ships with is so barebones. Does anyone have any suggestions of why this is happening or how to fix it?
Thanks a million in advance,
Alex.
Notifications are dealt with usually by the SystemUI. No launcher will bring you this feature back. SystemUI is part of the Android system image and cannot be exchanged/modified easily.
Ask your dealer for an update that brings back the Notification feature as it is known from all the Android devices.
Or you try a Custom ROM like Hal9k if your device is a MTCB/D/E device.
