So I unfortunately have a unit with crappy wifi and bluetooth hardware that only works 10% of the time. I have sound a hopeful solution here https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...1&postcount=70
the problem is it seems to need a rooted device to run those scripts. So I have been trying to update my device to the Hal9k or malaysk ROMS. My device wont install the ModInstaller.apk no matter what I try. I click install and it just show package installer in the top bar for a sec then goes away and does nothing. I made sure the apps had access to install apks, I have tried moving it into data/apps. I jsut can get the unit to install the APKs to backup and install a new ROM. If I try to run the rom updater from sd and not with the apk backup it gives me an error: 21. not sure if either are related.
Or if someone knows a way i can run a script from the above url fix without updating a whole new rom and just whitelisting it would be so happy! I just want wifi and bluetooth
Please help
Thanks!
Still no luck,
Any help?

Hello,
Quick inquiry with regards to a minor complication when attempting to flash a custom theme to a Sony Xperia X10.
The device has been rooted successfully and is currently running Wolfbreaks CM 6.1.3 v053.
I have attempted to flash a custom theme titled "Galaxy S for CyanogenMod 6.1.1 Stable". Everything functions perfectly thus far. Other then the fact that upon reboot an error messages specifies that Gmail has ceased unexpectedly.
The exact message displayed is quoted as "The application Gmail (process com.google.android.gm) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Although this message displays consistently upon each attempt to restart the program. Also automatically once the device initializes from a reboot or shutdown. The theme was flashed via xrecovery as custom zip. As per instructions "cmparts_ui.xml" was transferred to /sdcard/CMTheme and selected from the Tweaks menu.
(Thread referenced: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876600)
This problem did not occur originally when CM 6.1.3 was flashed. Would resolution be a matter of reflashing Cyanogenmod? or as simple as updating the application itself within the market? I can not locate any original files to flash back to the provided theme packaged with the most recent 6.1.3 mod and I can only surmise that doing so would resolve this issue.
Final note would be the process one would take to uninstall such custom themes. I've noticed deleting the .xml file from the sd card does remove it from the tweaks menu. However does this procedure ensure deletion of all associated files? Or is there a proper method to ensure complete removal is successfully accomplished?
Any feedback with respect to this particular theme including whether or not it would be necessarily recommended is much appreciated. This wouldn't be my first flash/root/modification or customization of a device. However this is my first Xperia X10. So I do want to make sure I am being as accurate as possible to avoid any future complications.
Thanks for everyones time and attention.
*Although on the plus side I'm able to transfer my contacts from a SIM card directly to the device with this current version of firmware. Such feature was greyed out in the menu initially
the theme probably has a custom gmail apk in it. which is either broken or incompatible with 6.1.3.
try opening wb's 6.1.3 with 7zip and pull the gmail.apk from that rom. copy it to your sd card, then use root explorer to copy it to /system/app. give it the correct permissions and reboot. problem should be fixed.
hello
thanks for your reply. your instructions sounded quite logical and i assumed id have no complications. i copied the app as per your instructions. overwrote the existing entry when prompted. however upon reboot gmail has been removed off the home screen.
attempting a manual install either within the system/app directory or through the sd card returns an unable to install error message.
ive gone ahead and downloaded the gmail app from the market. which thankfully does install. it is functioning and installs successfully to the device.
presumably anyone experiencing this same issue should download the app from the market very strange occurrence indeed.
my only other issue currently is the GPS functionality. switching on the gps displays no indicator within the toolbar. location based services seem not to pick up a location what so ever.
im hopeful this isnt a result of flashing this particular theme. any suggestions?
If you have flashed a framework etc for that theme (using xrec) it won't reverse if you delete that xml file in the sd card.
If you want to go back to original make a copy of that theme xrec and replace its apks with the apks from the ROMs xrec zip. Then flash it.
And if you want to use the theme and also the gmail apk look and feel (theme). Try replacing original gmail apks .png images, which are in drawable-hdpi etc. folders, with the themes gmail apk images.

after you copied to /system/app, did you change permissions?
the theme may not have a status_gps.png icon or, it's the same color as your status bar.
the app never requested a permission change. upon trying to start originally would just return error.
this was resolved by downloading directly from the market. my only issue now is what to do with the gps connectivity? as it does not seem to be returning a location. the only other thing ive noticed is the default camera app does not zoom.
im trying to assess whether any of this is a result of having changed the theme to the galaxy s cm 6.1 mentioned in the initial post, and how to go about fixing these issues to avoid having to flash back to the original cm6 stock theme.
** GPS has been fixed and is fully functional. Single issue remains with regards to camera not zooming what so ever. Although now attempting an upgrade to CM7. Thanks everyone
Is anyone else able to install the latest update to Google Keyboard from the Market? I am unable to. I think I broke my Razr at some point, sadly. I manually updated to the new keyboard before they put it in the market (way back when). I have been able to get it to update in the past, but now, something is wrong, and it won't update...it keeps either telling me my certificate isn't correct, or it is already installed.
Things I have tried:
Making sure the following were the stock versions, and then removing all of them:
in /system/app:
Latin.apk, LatinIME.apk, LatinImeDictionaryPack.apk
in /system/lib:
libjni_latin.so, libjni_latinime.so
in /data/data:
com.google.android.inputmethod.latin
com.google.android.inputmethod.latin.dictionarypack
com.motorola.android.inputmethod.latin
I have tried wiping davlik-cache and cache, tried rebooting. Tried installing from market, and downloaded apk, using adb and pm install. It seems to either, if all the files are present, tell me that it can't install, as it is a different version of the certificate OR if I delete them all, it tries to install and reports the app is already installed.
Any suggestions?
Just to help anyone else find this post, some of the error messages I encountered that would help them find this in searching:
From the pm install, errors: INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_INCONSISTENT_CERTIFICATES and INSTALL_FAILED_ALREADY_EXISTS
and from the dialogs in Android, when trying to do it from the market:
Application already exists, and Package file was not signed correctly.
Are you rooted? If so, have you tried uninstalling the keyboard with titanium backup, rebooting, then installing the new one from the play store?
Yep, I'm rooted, I should have mentioned that. I tried uninstalling with Titanium Backup, no luck. There must be some other thing that is colliding with the keyboard, something that I need to delete or clear, no idea. I am sure it is an odd problem to me, cause I got the keyboard manually before it came to market, but darned if I can figure this out. It really stinks, cause now I have only one choice, Swype. I really like and miss the Google Keyboard.
Only other thing that I can think of is if you are running a custom rom, do a dirty flash and then flash gapps. Otherwise you might have to do a complete wipe and start over.

If your problem is in somewhere in data then a factory data reset is an option. But before you try that my restore thread allows you to try 3 different systems (stock, stock deodexed-debloat & if your are unlocked: a Telstra deodexed-debloat) and keep your data. They all need to be done is a series to keep data.

I managed to get this installed...I'm not sure exactly what I did to get it to work, and I still think I am somewhat broken, unfortunately. I removed the data directory, left all the .so and .apk files from stock, EXCEPT I took the Google Keyboard apk and manually stuck it into /system/app. I THEN did a pm install -r googlekeyboard.apk and it managed to install on top. I think I also (although not sure it helped) removed a rename line in /data/system/packages.xml about the package.
I don't have it linked in the market (in spite of trying with TB) and I don't have the Google Keyboard Settings app showing in my app tray, but the keyboard is there, selectable and seems to be working.
Cheers

I am unable to install any version of google keyboard in my rooted Micromax A177.
I just installed slim 6.0.1. after trying to install the gapps I got error 70(Insufficient storage space available in System partition) and the instalation was canceled.
I rebooted the phone and saw there were installed only some basic apps with no use. So I tried to download from the AOSP browser a smaller gapp package, but
every time i hit the download button the browser crashed. Same thing happend with other downloads too.
SO I dont have any apps in my phone and I cant download any.
I need desperately some help ASAP!!!!
PS: cant sent files throu usb cause pc doesnt detect phone (propably brocken pins in phone's usb port)
edit: i was able to push gapps from pc via adb
Does the phone work properly with a stock rom? It happens with other custom ROMs?
You can send files over FTP using your Wi-Fi connection. As for your problem, try formatting system, then flash the ROM again. Take care that the updating script might throw you an Error Code - 7, because it failed to detect the info of the device. Google how to remove that part from the script in the zip and transfer the modified zip over Wi-Fi. Also, you might want to flash the nano package and get all other apps you need from the Play Store.
Just picked up one of these yesterday and one of the first things i tried was getting the data-free radio going.
Of course the Samsung apk isn't going to work without going into the priv-app folder and the permissions .xml in etc/permissions/ without root... pretty sure root ain't happenin'
Anyway i installed Next Radio and after informing me i could use it, it just froze while searching for stations.
I tried as much as i could with limited options and no root. Nothing worked... until...
Just grabbed an older version from apk mirror and it worked. Basic tuner good to go.
I've attached the apk that worked for me. I don't think it's strictly limited to the "W" variant so give it a go if you're having the same issue.
I used a method found in android gadget hacks to ensure it will not show up in playstore to be upgraded.
After installing, agree to location prompt (you can turn off location permission right after) and it'll go right to the basic tuner.
*turns out you'll need to use the method i used to hide the app on your phone. I did an odin firmware update and the apk was in the playstore
You can avoid the hang in Next Radio if you choose "Other" when it asks which country you're in the first time you run it. Then it won't try to query its non-existent database for streaming radio stations.
Hello,
Since the android 10 update came my keyboard is auto correcting all the time.
Yes, I know how to disable auto correct and that's not what I'm asking. I need a fix for this as it's software related and I don't want another keyboard to install I want the stock one to work as it should.
My girlfriend and brother both have the same phone and same update and it's working fine for them. Something messed up on my phone and I don't want to factory reset or to re-image the android.
I couldn't find in the apps to remove it or reinstall or stop. I had an Xperia in the past and there I could just remove and install it from the apps. Would you please advise on this one how I could reinstall the Samsung keyboard?
Also not sure if it's update related, the device is performing poorly after it, It's slower and even not responding for 1 second sometimes.
The phone is Samsung galaxy s10+
Thank you for your time and I hope we find a solution here as I googled and couldn't find anything useful except how to disable the auto correct in the keyboard options which is not working for me as explained above.
Best regards,

If you can use adb the package is ... com.sec.android.inputmethod
Adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.sec.android.inputmethod
You may want to temporarily install gboard or something before so you have at least a keyboard to use.
Reinstall:-
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.sec.android.inputmethod
Or from apkmirror
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsu...-keyboard/samsung-keyboard-3-5-41-15-release/
I hope this works for you.
Edit: There is a later version on apkmirror but my version is the one above and im running A10 Feb update. I dont know if the later version would install.
Hey thanks for the reply, I downloaded from that link but it says can't be installed, not sure what it's blocking as I enabled from unknown sources.

I think its because it still thinks it's a system app.
The only other was is the ADB method. If you clear data and cache before removing? Not sure if that's gonna do anything. Im just concerned if uninstalling then reinstalling via existing package will still leave the same problem your having.
Edit: Does it say can't install after you remove the package with ADB?
I wanted to install it too from apkmirror but it wouldn't work unfortunately, I don't know why seems like it have to be flashed or something
To add, today was a new update. I updated my android and maybe thought it will fix it. Still the same sadly.
Also I found it in the samsung apps, it had an update so I updated the Samsung keyboard and still the same problem. I also removed all data from it when you go to the options from the keyboard. Also made it back to factory, still the same. Each android phone different problem, getting sick of technology. Sony had plenty of problems too
