Problem flashin custom ROM, TWRP doesn't stay and other PLEASE HELP - Redmi K20 / Xiaomi Mi 9T Questions & Answers

Hi guys, this is my problem. Got MI9T with Android 10 (miui 11) 128GB, and I wanna install Pixel Experience. So, those are my steps until the problem :
1) Bootloader unlocked
2) After this, with TOOL ALL IN ONE.exe, I installed TWRP and everything ok.
3) Wiped EVERYTHING (data, cache, dalvik etc.)
4) here problem) When I wipe data also PE.ZIP is deleted from smartphone, so I plugin smartphone to pc to transfer it again. But when I go to C:/MI9T, I couldn't transfer ANY FILE because memory available was ZERO. 0/128GB, and I don't know why. So I was stuck on TWRP and I had to reinstall stock rom with MiFlash.exe.
(QUESTION: do I have to flash also vbmeta to keep twrp?)
I did the same process on RedmiNote5 but was easier because I had microsd with everything on.
Please if someone could help .. thank you so much

Hello, you just need to reboot to recovery if you can't transfert from PC after wiping/formating data.

What do you mean? Just reboot smartphone?
Anyway, is vbmeta necessary to keep twrp?

No reboot to system, reboot to recovery, you have that option in Twrp...

Xiaomi Redmi 3S Lineage 28May Issue

Hello.
So i've flashed Lineage 28May Build and this automaticly encrypt my device ...
I've read on the internet that if the device is encrypted the flash process is a bit diferent.
I've read about wipe data cache dalvik and system
wipe data cache dalvik system and internal storage
And flash adb ...
So, now i tried to go to TWRP and it just apears Mi Logo!
Not booting into any recovery (Stock or TWRP)
I've installed Miui.eu and the recovery is ok
I flash Lineage and i can't boot into recovery anymore ...
What to do?
Issues :
1 - Can't boot into TWRP
2 - What process is to flash a new Lineage Rom? ( I want to decrypt my device to flash more easily)
I really need help ...
I don't know if my bootloader is unlocked or locked right now, because i flashed too many roms ...
Need help !

1)Try to reflash twrp from fastboot mode.(if you can't do this, then your bootloader is locked. And no matter how many roms you install, bootloader, once unlocked remains unlocked, untill you lock purposefully).
2)In twrp wipe cache, dalvik, and if necessary data for clean installation.
3) Once any custom ROM is installed, while in mi logo , you cannot directly boot to twrp. You have to go to fastboot and from there boot to twrp.
4) First install only ROM. Once it gets installed turn it on. Once it successfully turns on, then you can install gapps ( this is not always necessary to be followed)
5) formatting data completely will decrypt your device. Just goto format data and type "yes". You need not goto advanced wipe.

How can I install Oxygen OS 5.0.1 with an unlocked bootloader?

Good day!
Our country just received the Oxygen OS 5.0.1 update.
How can I install it with an unlocked bootloader?
I was going to relock it but I found out that if I did, my data will be gone.
The only difference in the set-up of my phone from a stock OP5 is the unlocked bootloader.
Flash through stock recovery

I haven't done this kind of thing yet.
If I do this, will my data be wiped out or not?
What about using the OTA notification ?

What do you mean?
I tried to update my phone using the normal way but after downloading and tried to install it, it failed because my bootloader is unlocked.
I just made a backup of data using codeworkx recovery. Copied the backup (Along with the files on userdata I wanted to keep) to my PC.
Wiped all and formatted data. Then installed Oreo and copied back the files and data backup from the pc to the phone and restored data with codeworkx recovery again.
Then flashed magisk 15.2 and rebooted.
Everything working fine now.

I managed to flash Nougat without locking my bootloader. But I also had to Format the Data partition to make it work. I used Titanium Backup to backup the data of the Apps and Myapplist to make a list of the apps. After installing Oreo I only needed to spent 1 hour to restoring the app data.

This is what I did:
Downloaded OnePlus5Oxygen_23_OTA_028_all_1801031502_04d7cc5. zip, twrp-3.2.1-0-universal-codeworkx-cheeseburger.img and Magisk-v15.3.zip.
Rebooted to TWRP and installed the Codeworkx TWRP using the Install->Image option inside TWRP.
Rebooted to TWRP again to make sure that my TWRP was updated.
Entered WIPE from TWRP main menu and used the 'Format' option to Format the Data and typed 'Yes'
This deleted my Internal Storage so I had to backup everything beforehand.
Then used advanced wipe to wipe Cache and Dalvik.
Mounted the internal storage by using the Mount option from TWRP main menu.
I was having problem copying files to the internal storage so I rebooted TWRP and the problem was fixed.
Copied the OnePlus full update and Magisk zip file.
Installed the OnePlus full update and Wiped Cache and Dalvik and rebooted the device to make sure that the OS boots.
Then rebooted the device to fastboot to flash Codeworkx TWRP again because it was unavailable.
Booted into TWRP and flashed Magisk.
I am now on Oreo and I hate the way Ambient Display looks right now.

I honestly dont see a big difference yet, but only had it for two days. Feels a bit snappier, my signal a bit stronger, and probably an improvement with battery life. I had issues upgrading but then again I flashed the wrong version of magisk. I think the most important thing is the latest android security update.

Hey, thanks.. I will update later today. I see you provided which version of twrp (twrp-3.2.1-0-universal-codeworkx-cheeseburger.img). But what is the difference between the version you noted and the one I found (twrp-3.2.1-0-oreo-8.0-codeworkx-cheeseburger.img)
I want to make sure I have the correct version.
Thanks again

You can ask that question on the TWRP thread. May be they can answer it correctly. I guessed that twrp-3.2.1-0-universal-codeworkx-cheeseburger.img was for both Nougat and Oreo and that is why I used it. So, if you want to be sure you should ask that on a TWRP thread.

Hello, I was reviewing the process and just downloaded everything onto my computer and transferred onto my phone but have a few questions regarding some of the steps.
* Rebooted to TWRP and installed the Codeworkx TWRP using the Install->Image option inside TWRP
** Can I update TWRP via the official app and is that version of TWRP okay to use over the "twrp-3.2.1-0-universal-codeworkx-cheeseburger.img"
* Entered WIPE from TWRP main menu and used the 'Format' option to Format the Data and typed 'Yes' / This deleted my Internal Storage so I had to backup everything beforehand.
** How, what and where did you back up your data? Because later you mentioned "deleted my Internal Storage". I am guessing that because the OP5 does not have an external SD card everything is wiped and the new OS 5.0.1 needs to be saved onto a computer and then re-transferred back onto the phone. I am also guessing that the backup will need to be saved onto a computer as after wiping the phone it would also delete that file too, correct?
* Mounted the internal storage by using the Mount option from TWRP main menu.
** I am assuming that this option after the data wipe is self explanatory?
* I was having problem copying files to the internal storage so I rebooted TWRP and the problem was fixed.
** This is what makes be believe all the files should be on a computer. How did you reboot and when you did, does it go directly / back to TWRP?
* Installed the OnePlus full update and Wiped Cache and Dalvik and rebooted the device to make sure that the OS boots. / Then rebooted the device to fastboot to flash Codeworkx TWRP again because it was unavailable.
** I am guessing here that once OS v8 is installed the TWRP img is no longer on the phone. I would need to transfer the TWRP back onto the phone then re-flash? Could I just install the TWRP official app and flash that way?
Thanks

You have to flash TWRP by going to fastboot mode .
If you are rooted only then the TWRP app works

Yes I am currently rooted. Once I flash the new OS will I still have root access to use the TWRP official app? Is that why after flashing new OS you need to flash TWRP via fastboot?
What about the backing up? I also have full titanium, thanks.

But this makes no sense to me.
I have formatted my phone / wiped data / have the full rom & magisk on my "/sdcard" / went to install zip via TWRP, selected the rom and received the error message.
I decided to just go and upgrade via OTA and that failed. My phone has rebooted back to stock
what am i doing wrong?

When I wipe up in TWRP on this phone my data becomes encrypted

Hey XDA. I have a question, I just got this phone and I was wondering how to flash properly? On my old phone I would just wipe everything in twrp and flash a new ROM, but when I wipe in twrp on this phone all my files get encrypted including the ROM that I'm trying to flash on this OP6T, any help would be appreciated

Can't help you with the root but searching does help. Search a guy on YouTube name techibee he had a good video. But one plus has a backup so if you mess up one boot partition you have the other to correct easier. Basically a backup so your phone boots and not bricks

Most custom roms dont work for me - Am i doing something wrong?

Hello! Since i got this device, every time i try to install any custom rom, sometimes i have a good luck and one of those works, but other times they dont, i just get an "Android Setup keeps failing" so i cant even do the initial setup. The only roms that worked for me for now are the PE BS and Corvus, i tried LOS, PE, Havoc and almost any other rom and i get this problem, tried roms with and without gapps, different gapps versions and build but i just keep getting this problem.
The way i install a rom its like this:
- Wipe dalvik, data, cache and system
- Format data
- Reboot recovery
- Flash latest fw
- Flash rom
- Reboot Recovery
- Flash magisk
And i just keep getting this issue :c skipping magisk but i just get the same problem. I dont know if someone have or had this problem and know how to solve it.
Thanks in advance!

When you say "flash latest fw" what do you mean? Latest MIUI firmware? If yes why? You wipe everything just to install the firmware again?
It should be:
- Wipe dalvik, data, cache and system
- Format data
- Reboot to recovery (TWRP)
- Flash ROM
-Flash Gapps if wanted and not included in custom ROM
- Flash magisk
- Boot to system

Yeah thats what i mean, and i flash it everytime because those times that i skipped that the rom didnt even booted, so i just assumed that its necessary. But also, tried the way you say it and still got the same result.
I think that i need to flash MIUI by fastboot for something like a "clean flash" because y tried everything even using the zip to skip the encryption but... Nothing, still the same :c

Best should be to follow the instructions by the ROM developer,
for example Arrow OS:
How to install:
Reboot to recovery
Wipe System , Cache, ART Cache and Data
Flash the ROM
Flash any addons (GApps, Magisk...)
Format data if you are encrypted
Reboot
(Formatting data is later here)
Or Bliss ROM:
First Time Install / Clean Flash
0. Flash proper firmware, latest firmware for your device variants.
1. Reboot to Recovery
2. Format data
3. Wipe system
4. Flash the ROM (DO NOT WIPE VENDOR, EVER)
5. Reboot to System
6. Reboot to Recovery
7. Flash Magisk (Optional)
8. Reboot to System

Best may be to ask a ROM developer by PM what could be the problem. I'm still on stock so my knowledge about it is more theoretical.

Help!! Fastboot Bootloop RN7 - Pixel Experience Flash

Hello friends how are you? I will try to be very brief and excuse me for my English
I recently bought a second-hand redmi note 7, and it came with the ROM Pixel Experience 2019 (Android 10) ... The fact is that I wanted to install the updated ROM Pixel Experience (Android 11 2021) and did the procedure to install the Recovery Fox Orange (The phone came with the recovery from Xiaomi).
In doing so, I performed the WIPE (Dalvik, Cache, Data, System) and proceeded to install the ROM from internal memory.
The ROM was installed correctly but when restarting it enters a Bootloop in the FastBoot and I have not been able to start ...
It is in Fastboot bootloop ... Please I need help, what can I do to start the Pixel Experience or what are the steps to follow? I heartily appreciate your help
Format data. you will need to type "YES" when doing it!!
so, format data, wipe evertyhing again, reboot to recovery, then install your rom and then have fun. hope it helps.

Bro i just did it but it is still in FastBoot ... What I did exactly was the following:
- Enter OrangeFox
- I did Format Data
- Then I Wipe from: Dalvik / ART Cache, Cache, System, Data
- Then copy the ROM Pixel Experience Plus Lavender 11 (PC to Phone USB)
- I gave Install and then restart
But still in Fastboot Boot .. D:
Try latest global stable firmware.
Had this problem with other rom and it was FW related

Resolved! I just had to install the ROM from Xiaomi.EU (which started correctly) and then I proceeded to reinstall the Pixel Experience and this time it worked perfectly: D Thank you both very much
