SM-T59X development - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Questions & Answers

Only one question.
WHY nobody tries to develop something for Tab A 2018? Beginning, of course, with a updated twrp recovery. Source codes should be generally available now.
Thanks.

Regular updates for omni-4.4.4 (FINAL)

Hi there,
I've recently updated my tablet to a custom ROM for the first time and this is my first post here, so please correct me right away if there is a better place for asking such kind of questions.
My question is specifically about omni-4.4.4 (FINAL). For now I'm not interested in the 5.1.1 branch (NIGHTLY) at all, as I'm looking for stability.
So the question: is there any kind of update policy for the OMNI-4.4.4 branch? In the light of the recently published security flaws in Android, I'd like to know more about my options. I don't mind to try to build the rom myself, provided that the source code in the branch is updated regularly.
Stagefright-Bug-Fix for Galaxy Nexus Kitkat 4.4.4 (post #2) answers the question about the forthcoming update.
Good to know that "FINAL" doesn't mean that support for the branch is over.
Entropy512, do you make any kind of announcement after the source code has been updated? I'm just wandering what is the best way to follow the process.

We'll make some sort of announcement when it happens.
I have the day off Friday and will hopefully be far enough ahead in the apartment-cleaning process to work on this.

Samsung Galaxy J5 - Any plans on developing PA for this device?

Hi there,
I own a Galaxy J500FN and have been unsuccessfully searching the web for a custom rom for my device.
I have used PA on both my S4 and S4 mini and would be very glad (so would many others) if somebody could dedicate some time on working on a build for this device?
It currently ships Lollipop 5.1.1 out of the box.
There is no CWM Recovery build for this device but there is a TWRP Recovery Build that CTxz has kindly developed for us.
I am more than happy to flash experimental builds onto my device to help develop a custom ROM for it.
Thanks a lot!
Kyle
P.S: As many others have found, all root methods currently known for this device will trip the knox security.
No plans as we don't dev for devices we don't own or have access to. It is not on our radar at all, as with most Samsung devices.
@Pirateghost i can provide you all the files of j5 that you needs.

And what exactly does that do for us? That doesn't put a device in a developer's hand and they have ZERO way to test it. We know nothing about the device and we don't care to. It is not on the radar, it is not in the cards....
NO.
Not going to happen.
Please realize that developing for a device isn't easy. Even well documented ones bring along lots of hiccups along the way. There is no way in hell that we will take on a device request for a device that we don't own or plan on ever owning.
Here's a little FYI for you: we prefer Nexus devices or devices where the manufacturer/OEM is willing to allow/support bootloader unlocks, roms, development.
My advice to you: Learn how to bring up the device yourself, and build unofficials for yourself. This site was founded on being a resource BY developers FOR developers. Use the information available to you to build your own.

SM-S820L Lollipop Update?

Is there any way to get Android Lollipop on the Galaxy Core Prime SM-S820L? I have read about custom ROM's but I still don't know much about them and can't find any for this model. If anyone has found or created a way to flash a custom ROM onto this device, please let me know.

I also own this device, and unfortunately there is very limited support in the custom Rom department. If there was to be a lollipop Rom, someone would either have to port one somehow, or build it from source. Given the development rate for this device, I don't predict it happening anytime soon, sorry to say.
not going to happen
i have been trying since february the answer i got from my carier was samsung is contracted not to support this device thats why that is so hard to find samsung told me to take the device to bestbuy to force update if they could probably irrelavent but maby it helps
SM-S820L Got the Shaft!
Yup! This seems to be the future for the SM-S820L, or lack of future I should say.
I too have the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime SM-S820L. I have spent lots of hours scouring the internet looking through every android related forum in hopes of eventually finding someone that is undertaking much needed programming to build a custom ROM for this CorePrime version.
If you are looking for a custom recovery to use. I can point you to my and others posts over at Needrom. The best I can offer is an unofficial TWRP release, but it DOES work! It does for myself at least and I am no Android Guru whatsoever.
I guess I am not allowed to post Links in any of my posts yet because I am still a NOOB on these forums. I'll PM you with some direction my friend!
I cannot take credit for coming up with any of that software. I simply rooted around long enough to compile a collection of tools and files that worked for me to modify the Recovery of my SM-S820L.
:good: Feel free to shoot me a Private Message on this site or to my personal Email....... [email protected]
I would love to help out as much as I can with modding your phone. Like I said, I'm not a proffesional but I have read up on the procedures used and been successful with my own Galaxy Core Prime:laugh:

Advice on Purchase

Hello,
I'm strongly considering picking up a LePro 3, but I do have some concerns. I understand that the stock software isn't very good and I'm looking towards the community to create excellent ROMs for this device, but I do have some questions:
Do we have a clean method for root/unlock/recovery?
Is there anything stopping developers from putting together ROMs that are optimized for every aspect of the phone? i.e. enough source from LeEco?
How would you say developer support is for this device? I'm a fan of official ROM builds instead of using unofficial. Has anyone announced upcoming support for this device that I can look forward to?
Aside from that, feel free to mention anything else I should be aware of before purchasing the phone!
Thanks so much!

I have no idea what you mean by clean but if you can use adb then yes we do. If you are looking for a one stop shop all in one unlocker then the answer is no. look here for current method:

I believe all source code has been released.

There is minimal development currently. One person is trying to build a Nougat 7.1 Rom. That's a pretty big feat so it will probably be a while. Look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/how-to/7-1-progress-t3511474
There is a developer that posted a debloated version of the x720(international version) of this rom already. It will work on our x727(US version). It is an older version though so there's that. Look here:

This is literally the smallest compilation of threads I've ever seen for a phone so starting a new thread to ask these questions is pretty silly. Since it's the holidays, I've been nice and responded to what could have easily been found in a couple of minutes.

Thanks for the reply.
The reason I compiled these questions were because I was hoping for more specific answers and some clarity. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough my initial post and for that I apologize.
I was reading what seemed to be conflicting information about the recovery software and process in which to flash it to the device. It looked as if there wasn't any goto method or specific TWRP version to go with and that this was still somewhat experimental.
It's good to know that the source has been released. I was seeking info about LeEco and people were saying that they didn't release source code for their phones as company policy.
While I've visited the ROM forum section, I was hoping someone would have insight into official ROMs instead of what currently exists there.
For the US model Le Pro 3 (X727) I would recommend using this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/development/x727-model-persistent-bootloader-unlock-t3500388) method to unlock the bootloader. That's what I did and had no issues. From there you can use TWRP to do a full wipe and install the ROM of your choice. Of course, I would recommend taking a backup of everything before doing this.
I'm running that CM 13 build with no issues on my X727. It's also possible to get the IR blaster working if desired.

Hello... 'been using this phone for over a year now here is a clean build.prop from 6055B variant!
Also i'd like to help somehow, but I don't know how... I have zero Android dev experience (not really... last phone I ever modded was OT-918D *eons* ago, so it might as well be zero) but i'd be happy to test-drive anything as long as UI & RILd works.
I'll chime-in on Telegram too :good:

This will be the release thread for LineageOS 14.1
***LineageOS 14.1 Test Build for the 6055K is now live on Telegram with Download Link. Bluetooth and Camera aren't working yet***
If you want it to install on other variants, you will need to modify the installer script inside the zip. I'm not going to take the time to modify every Test Build to support every model. I'm running it on 6055U. If you do want to run it on another variant of 6055 and it's not installing, contact me on Telegram and I'll run you through how to modify the installer script to install on your device.
If you have anything to offer or just want to chat, you can find us here: https://t.me/Idol4Homies
Please don't report bugs here, we'd much rather you report any issues on our Telegram Group where the Dev will be able to see. I''m helping where I can and modifying little things but LimitedPython is doing the bulk of the Developing for this phone, please show your support and stop by the group to chat and say thanks.
5-13-2019- LOS 14.1 is currently booting to ADB but not posting yet. Sorting out some GPU issues and hopefully it'll be fully booting sometime this week.
5-14-2019- LOS 14.1 booting to OS. LTE Data and phone service works. Audio and most everything else is still broken currently but being worked on. If anybody has a clue what they are doing or how to help move this along to a public release, please join us on Telegram. I have a test image for people who can lend a hand but I'm not releasing anything publicly yet.
5-17-2019- LOS 14.1 working great so far. The only things not working at this point are Camera and BlueTooth, which hopefully will both be working very soon. I'll release a test build in the next day or so, so others can test. I'll be releasing TWRP and LOS 14.1 for the 6055U and 6055K variants. If you have another model you want supported from the 6055 line, PM me.
5-19-2019- This will work on every 6055 Model guys. That means 6055K, 6055B, 6055U, 6055R and 6055P will all work with this and future roms. No need to worry about "Bricking", as I have released Alcatel Stock Flashing software which will bring most, if not all the Alcatel Qualcomm devices back from the dead.
5-20-2019- Bluetooth fixed and working

I tried to go to your Telegram link for the LOS 14.1 6055U download, but it won't work. Idk why... Could you post a link to it here or something? Thanks in advance!
**scratch that I found it on the donate page**
Hello everyone.
I possess an Alcatel Idol 4 6055K, I would be very much interested in installing Lineage OS on this smartphone but I can't find any other source on the web on how to do it except for this thread.
I understand it should be possible with a release you're posting on Telegram, but if I click on the link it seems I can't acceed to the group.
Do you have any advice on how to try this OS on this marvellous phone?
So, no chance to ever see Lineage released for Alcatel Idol 4?

Yes, 14.1 has been out for a while now and 15.1 works too, I was told that a few days ago by the Dev. Come vist us on Telegram: https://t.me/Android_General_Chat
The Dev is in there and should be able to provide you download links for Los 14.1 or 15.1
We also still need donations as the Dev has lost his Idol 4 and needs a new one to continue making Idol 4 Fully Treble
