Hello everyone, I have one of the most unlikely problem... Or set of problems. My g6's touch stopped working suddenly. So far so good. The bigest problem is that a few days before that I ( by some stupid idea of mine ) switched the usb to charge only. My question is:
Can I somehow force open the usb port given I can not use the screen? Some might recommend a screen replacement but the service said that the fault is within the motherboard touch controller and has nothing to do with the screen.
A way that I need to try ( seen on youtube ) is to get a usb C to usb A adapter and try pluging a mouse to bypass the touchscreen.
You can try to access the files via ADB, if you have your PC already "allowed" on the phone for ADB connections. Otherwise, a mouse should actually work, yes.

Hey all I just need some help with a hardware malfunction. So, I searched the forums but could not find anything about USB failure on the G1s. I can charge my battery through the USB connected to the computer/wall charger, but no USB connections notification occurs. Also, I tried going through the recovery and enabling USB-MS with no such luck. Has anyone else ran into this problem, or found any solutions?
Have you tried to mount through USB using a different machine? I've got one machine at my house that is hit and miss with my G1, but my laptop connects perfectly every time. The machine that is flakey will work fine with some devices, won't work at all with others and then with my G1 works about half the time.
Yeah, I can connect my other G1 and my MT3G to both my laptop and computer on all of the USB ports, but this G1 isn't recognized in anyway. I found that if I hold the casing near the USB port on my G1 I get some sort of recognition. Could it be a hardware thing? The casing is cracked, but I didn't have any problems before when I bought it off Craig's List. It worked fine up until a few days ago when it randomly quit.
Actually, I am positive that it is a hardware problem because if I press hard enough on the bottom of the phone. I will look for the tool to open the back a little later to post my findings
Hi guys!
I've had a problem over the day with my beloved HD2, and I've started to fear that it might actually be the hardware starting to decay. About a day or two ago, when inserting my phone to the MicroUSB cable, it recognized the HD2 just fine, had access too USB mount, ADB and all of that. Transfered some music to the SD-card (Trancent 16gigs Class 4, btw - still very well recognized by the phone to the time at writing this), but now, some time later I get nothing out of connecting the phone to either my laptop or rig.
I know it's not the drivers or the cable, since I've tried with others cables and a few other computers. The message is the same old "The device could not be recognized". But the funny thing is, somehow the device must know that its connected to a computer anyway, 'cause it instantly enables debugging and the option to enable mount. I, as of now, has had no luck getting into the SD card, sadly. Not even been able to pull logcats or anything, setting up wireless ADB hasn't been sucessful either - so where I stand now, I'm kinda in need for a helping hand.
Has anyone else ever had this problem too, or am I left out in the cold?
By the way, even managed to put on an older nightly CM9 build, as it was stored on my SD. No luck there either. MAGLDR mount / recovery mount doesn't function either. Same error.
The ROM I first had the problem on was PARANOIDANDROID v0.6. Then a nightly CM9 from sometime last week. Both immensely close to stock and ICS based. LEO512, by the way.
Please, give me a hand!
TL;DR: USB broken, still charging, help.
Your usb is getting loose (usb data connection becomes irratic and then stops working, continued use results in USB port ripped from mainboard), try to not use it while plugged in and see if the repair shop can fix it for you without breaking usb data. You can use the SwiFTP app in playstore to transfer files in the mean time.
You may also want to use a cradle charger to minimize USB port being used.
Hello xda!
This forum has helped me a lot in the past time with all kind of problems i enocountered and I hope you guys can help me once more time with this big problem i have!
So basically 2 weeks ago i broke my screen on my old s4 pretty bad and it doesnt display anything anymore and the touch is not working. I have a lot of files and photos on it and I've een struggling to access it from my windows PC but i pretty much can't figure it out since it is locked with a pattern and can't unlock it!
I can't unlock it from my samsung account cause the account doesn't display the phone anymore for some unknown reason..and i really dont know what to try anymore I know the pattern and the backup PIN, google account etc, etc but still i couldn't find anything on google aout what could I do.
I have tried ADB but i cant manage to get it working tho, i have read that it wont work if my debugging is not thicked and its not..so the adb didn't detect it when i tried...maybe i did somethig wrong tho cause im not familiar with adb. Followed a guide on youtube and my [adb shell] command in platform-tools cmd didn't seem to work.
Please guys, help me access my files i dont know what to try anymore
If you need any more information about anything else regarding the phone, please ask and I will try anything just to recover my files ^^
Thank you!
without debugging activated ADB won't work. long shot (and quite expensive option) would be MHL adaptor plugged into TV and USB hub and wired mouse also in the hub...
I've never tried it, but in principle it should work
Even if the mhl cable will display an image on a monitor, you can't unlock the phone or enable debugging if the digitizer is busted.

that's where the mouse is supposed to come in, I understood maybe incorrectly that android has native support for a mouse...
How would the mouse connect to the phone? Do all ROMs support a mouse?
Well,Long story short,Nothings gonna work had the same issue with my phone back in the day,I've tried everything possible but was of no luck, you need to the change the screen and digitalizer to use it again (sadly) that's the only way out or you can borrow screen from repair shop get it unlocked. Goodluck

I mentioned a hub, if a mouse is supported it'll work fine through a USB hub, the question is will the MHL adaptor work thru one at the same time. I know some do not, and that's why I called it a long shot...
I flashed custom recovery and tried to mount usb storage blindly following guides but it doesn't seem to work...i wonder if there is any way to flash with odin a stock rom or custom rom without losing pictures and personal data such as documents just to get rid of the pattern..
Its been 2 yrs, i am facing this issue it started in rainy season
but last year it automatically got fixed (it was summer then) again started facing same issue (from rainy season):crying:
i tried (I am still using OG usb cable and Adapter so for god's sake don't tell me to use OG asus adapter and USB cable):
1. Flashing ROMs from RR(Nougat and MM) by tank, Borets ROM by Borets24 to Montana ROM
2. changed Micro USB port on my device.
3. reinstalled drivers on My PC.
4. visited Service Center (they are saying to change motherboard)
5. changing mode from MTP to Charge only and vice versa.
6. tried other usb cable and charger (from XIAOMI standard 10 Watt).
so tell me what i should do now ?
Usb not detected
Same same issue I have been also faced... All possible setup tried but failed to detect on pc, just charging. How to fix it? Thank you
I changed the USB socket...
Solved...
Changing port didn't helped me
fisrt sorry for my bad english
i faced this issue yesterday when i change my battery to my mom cel (both zf5) because her cel battery is dead. anyway when i connect on pc nothing happens so i remember to look flat cable(or SIM cable) to move. i read long time ago that if you drop your phone maybe the cable move a little little bit and its enough to won't be reconized anymore by pc and maybe cause erros on SIM1. i open again and reconnect the cable on motherboard and southboard and it works again. check it or search for it or how you do it. i hope it helps. good lucky
Same issue otg and usb cable not working only charging.
Replace sim tray assembley
Hi, hope this will solve your problem.
I'm facing the same problem with my zenfone 5. and alredy replace second mother board in my phone(micro usb assambley) and the problem still exsisted.
I found a solution in a zentalk forum where there are many people face the same problem as ours, the phone refuse tu connect to mtp,ptp or any usb debugging wheater its abd fastboot or even usb on-the-go.
the solution was replacing the sim tray assambley, where the ribbon connect motherboard 1(main) to motheboard 2(micro usb assmbley).
It have worked for me, the only regret that I have was, I have buchered the new sim sim tray slots during replacemen(those thing are super fragile) but now my phone can conect to pc and recodnise usb OTG.
it may not worked for your phone but it worth a try of you are willing to spend some money to buy the sim tray assmbley.
here I will include a picture of my replaced parts. Parts makked with number 2 need replacement.
be very careful when replacing the sim tray they are super fragile.
creddit to zentalk user for pointing this problem.
sorry for my rubbish english.
Hi,
My brothers phone screen is basically unusable.
When I connect the phone to the PC it recognises it in Windows but the phone contains no folders. At first I assumed it was because his screen was locked so I connected a OTG and keyboard and using commands managed to get his phone "unlocked" to the home screen.
However this didnt fix the issue.
Reading around it seems I may need USB Debugging enabled (if he hasn't already) but due to not being able to use the screen how would I do that?
Do I need a MICRO USB to HDMI & USB adapter to use a mouse and TV output?
Or is there a way I can fix this through windows using ADB?
At this point we are willing to try anything as all we are looking for is some family photos off of it then binning the phone and I don't want to put £100-200 into the screen replacement just to attempt this data recovery.
All help is greatly appreciated,
Cheers
ADB is the door to any Android device. As long as ADB has not been activated on the device - and the related RSA keys got created - you have no chance to pull out data from device, IMO.
Ok,
Well see the fact when I connect it to windows it shows the phone but not the folders inside, and I can only assume there will be a popup on the screen mentioning to ALLOW/DECLINE transfer etc..
If I use the OTG adapter I can plug my keyboard in and use the sequence SPACE, SPACE, BKSPACE, BKSPACE, then my PIN and ENTER and it unlocks to the home screen.
But because I would need the phone connected by both PC and KEYBOARD at the same time is it possible to get a splitter on the OTG adapter and this would hopefully let me press RIGHT and ENTER to accept the message?
If not then can the phone be connected via HDMI to see if any message is infact popping up??

OK, new to this. To get usb debugging on, click system. About phone, Software information, build number. Click that several times. (AT least 10). You will see a message that you are in developer mode. Go back to home screen. Click settings icon. Scroll to bottom you should now see { } Developers optiions. Click that. Find the section for ADB, enable ADB. Once ADB is up and running you should be able to pull the files. The screen for an android is the desktop, mouse, and keyboard. (PC analogy). You need something to see your icons, something to click, and a keyboard. If OTG acts as a mouse, and you can see the basic display, and have an external keyboard. I think you can do this. I am not sure what OTG is .

1. I cant follow that process as the screen is completely destroyed (no display/no touch), thats why I have been blindly using a keyboard to try and find the setting
2. OTG is ON THE GO , its a small adapter that lets you connect USB devices to your phone.
Sorry about that. I think you are stuck. without some visual clues I think you can not put the phone in developer mode. Did you try just a plugin (via usb) into windows and seeing if there is a pictures folder?
It find the phone in Windows, but wont display the folders.
The OTG splitter I purchased to be able to connect it to the PC and KEYBOARD at same time didnt work as it doesnt supply power (should have checked reviews).
Any other solutions? Or is this a new screen for £200 just to get data?
I purchased another OTG splitter that has a OTG/CHARGE switch so this should let me connect it to the PC and KEYBOARD.
Can anyone give me shortcut keys or step by step on how many times I need to press certain buttons to get down to the USB DEBUGGING section please?
