[Q]get rid of the chat-styled sms

the default sms for all winmo phones are like chat style....is there a software to change back to the classic sms-by-sms style?
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\
Then Create a Key named OEM and add a DWORD value named SMSInboxThreadingDisabled , set it to 1(hex)
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Thats out of the Wiki and work fine for me
yup, worked for me too...thanks
can try to install HD Tweaks, it still does a lot of tweaks to our Mega incl disabling threaded messages
You can also try Advanced Configuration Tool... there is an option to change the sms view....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769314
If Total Commander:
1: Go in to //Plugins. Its the first folder.
2: Go into registry>HKCU>Software>Microsoft>Inbox>Settings
3: If there's no OEM folder, then make one. If there's an OEM folder then next step.
4: Press +Add Value+.
5: Write SMSInboxThreadingDisable.
6: Select DWORD in check boxes (TYPE), Press OK.
7: In Values write 1 (Hex) and OK.
8: Close everything, reset the device. Done.
Personal experience. Though threaded gives a bit of advantage, but with this NO lag and proper simplicity. Enjoy.

Folders in WM Start Menu

This isn't really "hacking" but if you have WM6.5 and you want folders I've got good news for you! iOS is no longer the only OS that can do this (it never really was, WM could do this long before iOS ever could). It's really easy once you get the hang of it, and you can even have a folder inside of a folder inside of a folder, and so on.
So here's how:
1. Go into the Start Menu
2. Tap file explorer
3. Tap "Windows"
5. Scroll down and tap on "Start Menu"
6. Tap on "Programs"
7. Tap "Menu" then "New Folder"
8. Name it whatever you want, there's your new folder!
Now that you have an empty folder, you want to put things in it, so here's how:
1. From step 6 above, find the app you want to move
2. Tap and hold until you get a menu
3. In the menu, tap cut
4. Tap the folder you want to move it to
5. Tap and hold in the blank space and tap paste
6. That's it! Do this accordingly for whatever you want!
I successfully did this on my HTC HD2, if you can't get it to work, mess with it or comment below. I intend on making a video tutorial so you can probably expect that in a few months (sorry for the wait, I am very busy).
OR you can edit the registry:
Example:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila\Home\14]
"DispName"="Games"
"IconPath"="\\Windows\\Start_Icon_Games.png"
"ExePath"="\\Windows\\Start Menu\\Programs\\Games"
"IsFixedIcon"=dword:00000000
"HomeServiceType"=dword:00000001
"IsSet"=dword:00000001
"Index"=dword:00000003
"IsReadOnly"=dword:00000000
"ContactFavorType"=dword:00000000
"ContactOid"=""
"IsNeedRefresh"=dword:00000000
Edit those in blue. ExePath is the folder name.
PS I have these cooked in my ROM a long time ago
Folder
Whatever floats your boat, dude
Nice... But does anyone have a tutorial in a nutshell for managing the shortcuts in "Settings" ? As we all know, they are not in the "Settings" subfolder, but in registry. There are some default ones that You can change there, but as for the OEM ones, they are not always in the registry too, at least in the default location.

[Q] How to disable transparency in Windows 8 taskbar?

same way as in windows 7 if you're in Windows 8 Release candidate... right click desktop > personalise > color > uncheck enable transparency
not sure if it's there in RTM
I'm on RTM and it's not there. Can't registry be of any help?
[Windows Key] + R to bring up run dialog box
Type in resources & hit ok
Enter the themes directory
Open aero.theme in notepad
Change display name "Line 5" to say whatever you want. "Aero Lite" without quotations is what I use.
Scroll down to line 51 in the section [VisualStyles] and replace
Path=%ResourceDir%\Themes\Aero\Aero.msstyles
with
Path=%ResourceDir%\Themes\Aero\Aerolite.msstyles
Save the file to desktop or something as Aerolite.theme (make sure there is no .txt extension, must be .theme) --- Copy it to the Themes directory I mentioned above, you will probably get some sort of popup trying to block you from doing this, just hit continue...
Now just right click desktop, personalize, and scroll down and you should see your theme "Aero Lite" --- Select it & say goodbye to the annoying Aero transparency.
