It has come to my attention that there are little artificial corners applied to the lower left and lower right to make the screen look even more curved than it is . In one Reddit thread, it was suggested that the "wm show-chinmask false" command could be used to eradicate this monstrosity. Using the current Android 10 official Rom, this does not appear to be an option among the wm commands available. Does anyone know of an alternative?
SOLVED!
Answered my own question with some further searching! The command is as follows:
adb shell settings put secure sysui_rounded_size 1
They recommend following this up with "settings put secure sysui_rounded_content_padding 5," but I can't see any difference with that added. The first one instantly fixed the problem. We can't fix those awful upper-left and upper-right rounded corners, obviously, but we can fix stupid software, thankfully with just a single command.
So much drama... Sure, hard to argue that everyone's taste is different. But "monstrosity", "awful"? Please... ?
Agree to disagree, perhaps

A 2-post resolution is not drama. I've seen long threads that have posts containing nothing more than the word "reserved" that still have unresolved problems. And yes, little glyphs in the interface that serve no purpose than to get in the way of my viewing of the screen were aptly described. Now, if we could just solve that heinous waste of space that is Android 10's task switcher...

Sorry, that's not what I meant... Great that you have found a solution and posted about it. I just found it a bit funny how you described seemingly a minor issue. But then again, everyone's perspective is different... ?
I am with you regarding the task switcher (recent apps). Hate it, and couldn't find a way to change...

Hello!
Could somebody please tell me how to hide the sreenrotation icon using regedit? Are there any websites listing regestry hacks?
Cheers,
helterSkelter
It sure would be great if questions were followed by a question mark...
As it is, a lot of postings seems like people offering solutions judging from the subject line, when they are in fact asking for help. It's confusing as well as time wasting, since it attracts the wrong readers to the threads...
Remove your rotate screen
-Use a registry editor and open:
-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINCE\Services\ScreenRotate
-Change ShowIcon from 1 to 0.
-Soft-reset
-Enjoy

Thanks a lot for the help danr and ampda!
HBK: your post was a bit out of place, cos if 'the wrong readers' were 'looking for a solution' they would of found it here anyway. Questionmark or not.
No, it wasn't out of place, and it has been mentioned a gazillion times before, as all regulars know.
Some people have more time than others. Quite a few of us have to skip the threads, where the subject line doesn't have an immediate appeal. That's actually why we have the subject lines in the first place. That's just a fact of life, and it goes for all message boards, not just this one.
This thread has right now had 141 reads and 2 replies to your question. What does that tell you?

Have you read the thread titled: 'Please read this before posting'? Amongst other things, it contains this text...

Hi gps-lover!
I'd like to post some ideas here to make "task facade" even better:
Pocket PC Version:
It would be nice to ba able to add a task to the "banned task"/"banned window" list from within the application - for example from the dialog that appears after doubletapping on a task.
Smartphone Version:
In the current Version (3.7.7) ist is not yet possible to close a task with the facade. This would be a nice feature.
Regards
Silent_R
why? why open a new thread for this?
you JUST replied to the original thread.
read the rules..
it was my idea.
the problem is, that thread is too big, is used mainly for problem reports and is hard to track for feature requests.
so the idea was to have a separate thread for feature requests only.
sorry if it's against the rules.

it's just that... imagine that every other app has a thread only for requests...
this section of the forum is already drowning in new threads... that's why the questions and answers section was openned.
If i were you i'd ask people to give in suggestions with the title "Suggestion" and then you can search your thread for all posts containing "Suggestion"... and get only those posts. go through them to get an update for your app.
just an idea
cheers.
p.s. sorry for sounding blunt, it's hard to pass on the tone of voice..
might i request margins between the screenshots so they arent sharing the same borders ala xperia style??? i believe that it would look better and more eye appealing without losing functuality
thanx for your hard work

That's already an option.
I have the HTC Touch Pro and the program will not allow me to close any open applications. Is there a fix for this yet or do I need to do some config to get the tap and hold feature working to close any open tasks?? I got hooked in when I saw the youtube demo video. I believe the phone used was either Diamond or TP and it worked flawlessly on the video. Did I do something wrong?
Any way to mimic the vista aero task switcher? So you could flip through the open tasks with finger swipes.
Scroll Support for Tilt/Kaiser
I'm using Task Facade with the AT&T Tilt (HTC Kaiser). When I start Task Facade, I usually see two columns of two or 3 panels each. The scroll wheel will move up and down the column that is originally selected, but will not move over to another column.
Would it be possible to make the scroll wheel "loop" through the columns, so that when it reaches the bottom of one, it moves to the top of the next?
I apologise for starting what is, in many ways, an 'I'm a noob, help me!' thread but I have put some effort into researching each of these topics but I'm still left with questions, so I thought I'd just lay everything out there and see if anyone can help me.
Firstly, sometimes when I start to write a text message, the first character disappears. It shows on-screen for maybe half a second, then it's as if I've hit backspace and it gets deleted.
It's really odd, it only happens from time-to-time and so far I've not been able to discern any sort of pattern to this behaviour - it doesn't seem to be specific to certain contacts, nor does it seem to matter whether it's a new text or a reply that I'm writing. It's just completely random.
I've searched on this forum, checked HTC's hotfixes and kept an eye out on other fora I frequent that have anything to do with the Touch HD but so far I haven't seen anything about this.
Secondly, I've been trying to find a calender application that will allow me to enter 'rules'.
Basically, the hours I work depend on the day of the week but I work different days week-to-week. So what I was hoping for was to be able to program in a 'rule' that defines what constitutes 'work', depending on which day of the week it is and have it so that an alarm or multiple alarms go off a set period before the time I start work each day (to wake me up). Anyway, by having this pre-set rule, I was hoping that when a new rota becomes available at work, I would just be able to mark which days I was working and the calendar would automatically work out the hours etc.
I'm not sure if this is something most calendar apps are capable of or if it's a feature that just doesn't exist but so far my attempts to search for this have been fruitless, though maybe that's down to my choice of keywords or something...
In third place, what is, in all probability a fairly common question about syncing text/SMS messages to your PC. I have looked into this, I swear but there seems to be a lot of contradictory information out there, not to mention when I search the site, I seem to end up reading a lot of threads that are 2, 3 or even 5 years old.
This might sound a little sad but this plave is one of few fora where I can have a question and when I look or ask for an answer, I feel completely lost. So I suppose what I'm hoping for is for someone to come along, take me by the metaphorical hand and show me the solution suitable for half-blind, retarded chimpanzees, as I might just about be able to follow that...
Last up, I was wondering if anyone was aware of any Shoogle-like programs for the HD.
I've come across 'VibraNotify' by way of this thread, which I will be testing out soon but in case it doesn't quite do what I want, if there's anything similar out there that anyone's aware of, I'd appreciate the heads-up.
I really am sorry to waste people's time with questions like these.
I wish I could find all the necessary answers myself but, as I say, for some of them I can't seem to find any information and for others, I've found far too much.
I will be extremely grateful towards anyone who takes pity on me and is able to help out in any way, no matter how small.
Thanks.
Addressing your second question.
I am a long time user of Pocket Informant currently in version 8 and available for purchase or download a time limited trial at http://www.pocketinformant.com/
You can set up different "work" times for each day of the week.
Regards.
Ed
for the first point of your question, I also had some problems too with keyboard input so that maybe sometimes I wanted to type m and it actually pressed a (not exactly a common typo!)
I noticed that after a screen calibration problems were solved
start/settings/system/screen/Align screen button
hope it helps
alternatively, I can confirm that with Davideuck's v-5 and dutty's xtreme v1.9 ROMs I have never had typing problems

don't feel too bad, these are pretty advanced topics that i have not seen covered here
Regarding point 3;
as far as i know you can't sync SMS, tho you can back it up with PIM Backup
there is also MyPhone currently Beta
I'm on a mission! These are the things that I want to change on my x1. If you know of a way to fix any of these then please please please let me know how.
Here they are in no particular order
1) Auto Que text messages
By this I mean.... if I try to send a text message with no signal I get a big nasty red message saying something along the lines of Message Was Not Sent. Try again? and a loud annoying beep to follow
What I want...... Is to be able to hit send, jam the phone back in my pocket and get back to what I was doing. Happy in the knowledge that if I didn't have signal when I sent the message, it will automatically re-send as soon as I walk into signal.
2) Find a free way of making video calls (I can only get skype to make voice calls)
3) Skin the text messages or find a text message panel to make it easier to use and less ugly
4) Add a storage card shortcut to my start menu
5) Stretch the landscape pin entry to full screen
6) Get the OK button to actually cancel and close things
PROBLEM SOLVED With WkTASK I can hit the x button then select "close" or "close all"
7) Stretch the landscape keyboard to the full length of the screen
PROBLEM SOLVED With Finger Keyboard 2 the keyboard is stretched across the full length of the landscape screen. Plus I no longer have to sharpen my thumb nail to a point to be able to send a text message
8) Totally Remove today screen lines (not just change the color)
9) Play Game Boy Advance Roms in full screen landscape mode
10) Remove "today" and recent programs icons from the start menu.
11) Stretch the top right cross button
I have installed gtrabs SEX1 "F" series Task bar icons and I love them. id also like to stretch the x at the top right of my screen to twice its width. To make it easier to press.
PROBLEM SOLVED With WkTASK I have skinned the x button its not allot bigger but it dose make it easier to press.
12) Make it easier to change tracks whilst driving
I have a sat nav style phone holder that sticks my x1 to my car windscreen in landscape mode, with the buttons out. I connect my x1 to my car stereo and pump out the tunes via my car speakers. But with the media experience panel its so hard to change tracks without looking, the button is so small its dangerous
PROBLEM SOLVED The driving panel is more than what I was looking for it has mph, track shuffle, sat nav button, and perfectly sized volume, track skip, and pause buttons, Xuanlong got it to me 10 days before it was released!
13) Stop the experience panel changing color I want it to stay ocean blue
bump (Thread updated)

Where did you get the on the road panel from??
(Pre Release) On The Road Panel
(Pobierz = Download) right click, save target as. some people have problems downloading I managed to get it to work on Internet Explore. Other new panels here but are reported to be a bit buggy.
On the Road Panel looks great, but the navigation button/config does not work
Where can I get my TT maped to the button?
now, that's just lame... this problem fixed by someone @ sonyericssonx1.proboards.com... it sort of sounds like:
'the xda community has once again proven to be unfriendly and unhelpful but thanks god someone at proboards helped me out there, so why don't you guys and gals all come along and let's help ourselves by posting links to stuff that's on xda'
come on dude, you could have just read through topics on this forum to see what's out there that might be useful or used the search option, most of the issues you had and wanted resolved were quick hits
To make the reply box larger in messaging you can use Total Commander to search for and edit the file thread_sms.htm in the windows directory. It's a hidden file so make sure you have 'show all files' checked when you search for it
Look for this line:
<inbox:content id="COMPOSESUBECT" width="98%" height=35 spell focus count .. .. ..
Change height (in this case 35) to 70 and you get 3 lines for text replies. Just change the numbers and see what works for you and soft reset after editing the file...
Still an ugly interface but much easier to use. Mine is set at 140.
Sorry, but I had to post this. I saw the other shameless plug for your site on another thread as well and didn't bother to comment. I hate people who say "this looks like an ad" and "you should use search"... but this looks like an ad and you should use search.
I personally don't really care if you want to share your website with others, my only issue is that you should give credit where credit is due.
Might want to change your post to read "problem solved thanks to X @sonyericssonx1.proboards.com WITH solutions that could have easily been solved by using the search function from XDA developers" since most of those tools came from here anyway (apart from the driving panel. wktask is a japanese program, but it was adapted into english on these boards).
But to be honest, if you cant use the search function here, it's probably best to post elsewhere anyways.
PS most of your other points can be found here as well. Just use search.

Classic QFT.
Like I said before, I have no problem with you and your board, but don't rub it in our faces every chance you get.
Again, most of these questions can be answered fairly easily using XDA search.
As I imagine it can be hard to do the storage card shortcut, I'll give you a hint on it. On your phone, navigate to \windows\start menu. There you'll find a whole lot of shortcuts. Copy and rename the extension one of them to .txt and open it. You'll see a nice and comprehensable path there. Adjust it, save and rename back to .lnk. You're all set!
For the shortcut problem (storage card): why don't you try the easiest way "copy"->"paste as shortcut" in File Explorer. That's the most standard way to create shortcut.

Damn you dudes are harsh. He has an awesome site. It's like XDA-dedicated to the X1. Give him a break?? He doesn't get paid for anything, and spends alot of time on that site; only to contribute to the X1 family.
And the comments of [email protected], come on?? No one here knows who some1 is if he just like posts 'xuanlong' or so, but he refers to one of the members of his site. I can tell you now that you wont find all of the contributors and be able to pm them if he just gives their nicknames?

Jeese, some of you guys are like spoilt little kids,
All this guy has done is to take some of his time to make a site dedicated to the X1 and simply gives you links to other websites that have some cool programs on them. It is actually very useful for people who dont have the time to go searching through all of the XDA site.
XDA is a good site but can be difficult to find things relating to the X1 specifically through the search when you only have 5 mins.
You guys are just slating someones hard work for no reason, if you dont like it then don't go to it and dont comment on it.

I admit, nothing will beat XDA, but this site is dedicated to the X1, much more userfriendly and easier to find things.
All we need is more members and contributions, and that site might become the number 1 Xperia site.

As for you other lads who feel like being windle's knight in shining armor, you're behaving just as bad by "bashing" those who oppose his website. Not everyone has to like it, but they have just as much right to post they don't as windle has right to post about it in the first place. Resco Contacts. It'll reskin the dialer, the call registry, your contacts and messaging.
PointUI Pro (unreleased).
Touch-IT v4.5 - The new Touchflo pretty much covers over the Winmo interface entirely.
There the ones i've used, others might have other solutions. Touch-IT is the best, but of dubious legality. PointUI will be great eventually, but it's still in early stages. Resco is OK, needs work but it's perfectly useable and better than the standard Windows Mobile stuff.

Gee, how could anyone find XDA unfriendly and unhelpful? I wonder... do you think... it could be posts like that?
Again, I love XDA, it's got good stuff, but all too often, on receives replies that are not friendly or helpful. My opinion is, if you dont have something worth while to contribute, dont bother replying, if it's just to tell them to search, or complain, etc.
And there's nothing wrong with giving a little credit where credit is due. I've seen plenty of links on other sites and blogs, crediting users at XDA in a similar manner.
Since you've already acknowledged some of XDA's perceived flaws, perhaps we could try to improve that image, rather than just taking shots at another site?

If somebody from xperiax1.net had helped me I would have put problem was solved by jimbobjoeorrob @ xperiax1.net and somebody had helped me on xda ect. just giving the credit to those that took the time to help me out rather than ***** about my posts.
Ok, I've searched, and I can't find a thread about this specifically, so I'll ask (please move this if its in the wrong place).
I don't like Manila, so I have it switched off. When using the application for sending SMS (which I am assuming is pocket outlook?), there are two soft buttons onscreen. The Right hand one is "Menu". the left hand one is "Delete". Is there any way to change this "Delete" button to "New"? I have recently swapped over from an XDA 2i and this had a "New" button, which makes more sense to me than a delete button.
Assuming that there is no way to adjust this button, I would consider DOWNGRADING my pocket outlook to the one used on my XDA. What is the probability of that working out for me?
Apologies if this seems like a dumb question....
No-one? No response at all? That's three threads I've posted so far with no response to any of them.
Great.

no response. great
Yes. You waited 4 whole hours for me to reply to your comment telling me to be patient wait for a worthwhile response. If you think giving it 4 hours before complaining about a lack of response is a long time, I suggest you check the datetime on my first two posts. Thats two days between comments, coupled with the fact nobody responded to my other threads either.
But thanks for undermining the point, you little twit. I understand that people here are here to help, and they do it for free. But a simple "Can't be done mate" comment wouldn't take 10 seconds, and I'd have my answer, instead of your really really poor interpretation of sarcasm.
I'm told that its the lowest form of wit.
please stay polite, I was just kidding on my "great" post. Sorry if I offended you. That was not my intention
It would of been great to be able to customise any button on our mobile like Excel 2003, drag and drop, replace actions etc but perhaps in future devices.
For now, the only way is Menu/New, but as a business phone I can see why "delete" has more preference, and one being due to receiving too many grouped/news emails that are usually deleted instantly.
You can see another examply where "Reply All" has higher priority then reply itself.
Have you tried to search for any 3rd party applications to see if you are able to reassign, perhaps through registry?
