Hi Everybody:
Is there a way to replace the stock dialer and messages apps with the google version? It seems the only way is installing manually the APKs but the Play Store does not update the apps.
Thanks in advance.

I rooted and deleted my stock LGMessage.apk because i wanted to have Google Hangouts as my default messenger.
Now I'm stuck with Google Hangout and it's MMS errors which means i cannot receive pic messages. :crying:
I would love to just have Hangouts as default messenger app but i cannot seem to have MMS working still even after the update.
Any help with trying to install the stock app again would be great.
P.S. I tried installing the 8sms app to gain MMS retrieval but i did not work.
Thanks ladies and gents. :fingers-crossed:
I like using the faces....
Search for a rom with your varient they should have the default lg apps listed for download if they did not incorporate in the rom. I beleive the heatshiver rome has this apps available for downlosd as seperate
Just wondering if there is any way to get the 4.4.3 dialer on my Note 3. Unfortunately, I'm not rooted and already on 4.4.2 so rooting is out.
I really like that dialer, or even the 4.4.2 AOSP dialer will work. Can one of these be installed without root? I can't stand the TouchWiz Dialer.
Thanks for the help in advance.
No not without root. The dialer app is written to either /system/app or /system/priv-app which would both require root access to modify or replace with another.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Just wondering though, how is it all of the Play Store "Dialer apps" work?
Can't the 4.4.3 AOSP just be configured like that or something?
Thanks.

No well some dialers in the play store require root and some may not and just replace your stock dialer. Well not replace, just will give you the option to choose it. Kinda like how you can have multiple launchers and when you press the home button (assuming you haven't set one as a default) it will ask you which launcher you want to use. The same thing happens in certain situations when you have Skype installed. When you want to dial a phone number from let's say a link in chrome or the default browser, and if you have skype installed, it will ask you which program you wish to use to dial the phone number.
What if I were on 4.4.2 and am rooted? Where can I find the proper files and what would I do to replace them? Thanks for any help you can offer!

I've messed with it a bit and can't get it working on a rooted device, I've tried a few different methods.
I use hangouts and I want to know if I can uninstall the stock messaging app or if that will cause problems?
Nexus 4 CM11 4.4.2
Thanks

No. You can delete or uninstall it.
Messaging isn't required for the system to work, the N5's rom doesn't include it by default, it's completely replaced by hangouts.
Thanks!

Hello EveryOne, i Recently updated My Droid Razr M to Kitkat 4.4.2 182.x.x.x
i want to Replace its Messaging App With JB 4.1 Messaging App Because there is no select and Delete option, kindly someone give me that app
May I suggest using CM 11 messaging app instead? Some Jelly Beans apps won't work due to difference in the underlying framework.
Cm11 Messaging App have Select And Delete Option ? if it have then Please Give me Link
It do have select and delete options as far as I know (been using CyanogenMod for a very long time, since CM7).
Ok, please make a backup of your entire texts, before I upload CM11 messaging apk outta my CM11 ROM installer zip. Back up your original mms.apk before swapping it, and make sure the new mms.apk has the same permissions as the other apps in /system/priv-apps/ or /system/apps/ before rebooting the phone. Then restore the texts, and hold down on the unwanted messages before you are shown the options, and then touch the others you want to delete too, afterwards touch the garbage can. You will of course have to have root access first before you can swap the mms.apk though.
Brother Thanks For Help, My Problem is Solved i Uninstall Stock MessagiNg App And Install Go Pro SMS And It Works Great.
Hi everybody. I tried to search the official native SMS/MMS app of lolippop but I only found the Messenger app from google on play store. What i'mexactly looking for is the official app of SMS/MMS of CM12 based on lolippop because I move from CM12 to SimpleAOSP and I used to use the quick reply on the taskbar of CM12 and I really like the system of notification of reception.
Can someone tell me where I can found this SMS/MMS official app from CM12 with the quick reply system ? I've searched but nothing except alternative app on play store..
Thanks a lot!
