today there are reports that the android nougat update for the sprint variant of the g5 is out.
https://plus.google.com/communities/109302847348648973506
just look in the community and you will see...
does anybody know anything about the EU update?
I can't believe a US carrier branded variant gets Nougat before the international unlocked H850. What happened to this world...
Me to. But so is... Sprint first with nougat... Incredible... Is confirmed.
Enviado desde mi LG-H850 mediante Tapatalk
According of the news on Internet, yes it confirmed. Looks like spring is imba
LG gives a fu*k about int versions of their phones from LG G4. They'll get it about half of year after sprint version.
Never will buy a LG phone again, I read an article somewhere before that maybe int G5 nougat just coming in February 2017.
Yep, just got Nougat on my Sprint G5 this morning!

Totally that's why LG is mostly the one with the quickest updates for their flagships at least. And I'm pretty sure it will be at latest in December but head on of you are so pissed

Then don't. No one forces you to buy LG phones. You are surely easy to be deceived by some man made no proof not official article from a common website.
I used to have worse experience with Motorola when it came to firmware updates
Honestly wasn't even receiving bug fix updates, at least in LG i do.
Nugget already was released in asia and now it's rolling to the sprint devices, I don't understand why everybody dont pay attention to the comments that were made by the people who actually recieved it..
I recieved the update as well

Is it android 7.0 or 7.1?
Its 7.0.
Runs great! The autobrightness issue seems to have been fixed. The display brightens up smoothly now, and does not stay dark. There is a weird bug with the LG keyboard now though. If you click backspace, it does not stop erasing sometimes. I guess it registers too many button presses some how.
Still playing around with it though. Have yet to leave the house to test real world use.
Thought the international would of had it by now!
Any improve or bug in stock camera application?
Thanks.
Hello guys !
I saw few of you have official nougat update for G5. Do you have any news about nougat for everybody ?
Thanks

So far only Korean G5 and Sprint G5 versions got nougat, including beta testers. My guess, by reading the news and taking a look at Lg release cycles for G4 from last year involving marshmallow, would be that the rest of us will be getting nougat somewhere between today and the end of December. And by rest I mean international g5 H850.

They probably will. Patience is a virtue. And so far we got update after update for mm. So soon I'm guessing we'll get n too.
Before the G6 launched I read a review that said something to the effect LG was trying to get the device out with 7.1. Well that didn't happen but there's been silence since. Anyone have info on LG releasing a 7.1 update? I know LG doesn't have the best update track record, hopefully it isn't months from now.

No 7.1 in the G6 future, LG never update to this "minor" release, only security patch updates with enhancements, like in previous LG smartphones
7.1 is more than a minor update though. It fixes the bad standby drain that's present in 7.0. If they don't update to 7.1 I'll likely dump LG if this is indeed how they do things. Thanks for the reply

Then jump immediately, they won't update to 7.1, they'll jump directly to Android O.
I don't think thats true. LG said they're gonna update to 7.1 to pre-production reviewers so they're probably gonna do it.

Heard at least cpl of reviewers say it. Don't remember who tho. I've watched a lot of G6 reviews but only read a cpl.
Either way, if they aren't pushing 7.1 they'll probably hurry up with Android O, as you said. They're usually one of the first ones to update their eligible phones to new Android and Android O is supposedly really close (fall release).
Rumor has it the g5, V20 and now I assume G6 are jumping from 7.0 to 7.1.2. That only recently was released to pixel/nexus phones.

Absolutely not. Android O Will be released too late for LG to keep this phone without the update. Android O Will probably be shipped on the next "V" device and the G6 will only see it next year.
My money is on 7.1 being the only "big" update we see this year

Lol have you ever followed the LG scene? Seems not.
As I already told LG never updates to this minor release, it is also one of the fastest OEM to release the major versions of android, G5 received Nougat officially on November.
Again, this is based on the past of LG, which are facts, not on rumors without source.

Either way, an update to either will be nice and the sooner the better. But, to be honest, I am more concerned with gaining root/twrp. Being on a tmo model that is bootloader-unlockable out of the box, we usually get it sooner than later...at least on my prevous g2, g3, g4, g5.

Agree, if this year LG decides to make better updates releasing 7.1.1 for G6 i'll be pretty happy, this sort of things are always good, but well i don't have much hope for the reasons i've already explained xD
Root won't be a problem for Europeans H870, as always, but for the T-Mobile one, if it won't support the official unlock then you have to hope that devs find something similar to the findings on the G5 and V20, good luck :fingers-crossed:

What is so annoying is they let us unlock the bootloader on the TMO model, but they strip out all the fastboot commands, which screws over. I believe the Euro mode still has the fastboot commands, but I am not sure.
But now we're getting way off topic. :-0 See you in the proper threads
Based on the updates I'm receiving on the Korean model, I'm optimistic about a 7.1.2 update coming in the fall maybe September.

First of all this should be posted in the Q&A area as this is not any kind of development thread. Second LG hasn't announced if Oreo is coming to the V20 but I suspect it is within the next six months.
any idea why it was never updated to the latest version of nougat? is it because of the second screen?

It'll be interesting to see LG's UX 6 on a device without 18:9 ratio, considering half the ux is based on this larger screen ratio.

I think most of what the reporter was claiming is pretty much no-brainer. The V20 is near-certain to get Android 8 from LG. The G5 and V10 have got decent chances of getting Android 8, but they're questionable.

It is mere a speculation of a reporter & not the official confirmation from LG.....
When will LG V20 H990DS most likely to get Nougat 7.1.2 & Oreo 8.x soon thereafter in India...???
Rumors says it'll
for those expecting 7.1 i dont think we will get it. lg has skipped versions in the past and oreo is likely around December time
now that the V30 is out. I hope we still get a few more major updates before we are rendered obsolete.
I expect us to get Oreo and Whatever comes after it because this phone was just released in October 2016. Therefore it will be 2 years in October 2018.
If LG does not update it up to android 9.0, they should be ashamed. No, really really ashamed.
The V10 shipped with Lollipop, then got Marshmallow, and after MUCH complaining got Nougat. I really don't think LG would be stupid enough to not offer Oreo, but then it is up to the carriers. However, when it comes to P(eanutbutter?) -- I think we are going to have to make a stink.

This is the closest V20 will ever get to Oreo.

It will definitely get it. There is no question that LG will upgrade the V20 to Oreo.
Hello,
Don't know if it is still necessary but.. A petition for an upgrade of android 7 to our G4 H815 International version.
Android 7 came out during the 2 years of maintenance of the G4.. so... LG HAS the obligation to roll out this version to every G4 version.

I'm not trying to hate but... I've never experienced that a manufacturer took a petition for a software update/upgrade serious in any way. I've seen more than just a couple of those kind of petitions. It's pointless, it won't change anything even if it get's signed a thousand times.
Just install the "beta" version of Nougat. I've had it for over a month now and haven't noticed any setbacks. Well, other than a little screen burn, but I'm not sure if it's the Nougat or phone that's getting old. No random restarts, no FCs, nothing...Just smooth sailing. LG is not known for its good software support, so I wouldn't hold my breath about official Nougat anymore. I guess that ship has already sailed.

I've LG G4 H818P. There is a high risk of root and unlocking the device due to the warranty on the device. Especially when it comes to a device such as the LG G4 that is largely prone to bootloop.

Well, the bad thing about this beta is that it is vulnerable to the recent exploits in Android as the security patch of this rom is from June 2017. So it is vulnerable to Blueborne bluetooth exploit and KRACK wifi exploit.

By not buying LG again? Okay, so which manufacturer will give you updates for a long period of time?
Maybe if some company would officially support Lineageos on their device.

I haven't said that. I just meant to say that if the next wave of LG "flagships" have poor sales, maybe they will eventually do something about it.
Maybe they improve on their support, or on their quality control, I don't know.
In the short run, they will probably just ignore os.
But in the long run, if the sales figures go down and the number of support calls and/or device recalls go up maybe, just maybe, they will do something about it.
Who knows, maybe I will buy another LG product/phone if the quality and support of their devices will improve. But as it now stands, they are going down fast.
The latest sales figures already posted here are self explanatory.
LG is a bad smartphone manufacturer - majority of their recent phones have been plagued with issues (some serious some not so much)
no point in petitions cause they will ignore them, and even if they don't and actually release Android 7.0 for G4, thats still a year old OS which LG will leave at version 7.0..
just buy a smartphone that is easy to root (oneplus 5?) and go with lineage OS or something similar that gets updated on a daily basis
LG is **** tier and both their hardware and software suck

I agree for the version, but not for root.
I tried with my nexus 4, I scre** it up. totally. And reading articles telling you that you have a lot of manipulations to root etc, no thanks... Except if you have a software that you install normally and boum... rooted.
I will see if the V30 will be released with oreo version. Which i doubt....
Why is there almost no custom roms for the lg35 here compared to the lg v30 which has a lot?

No. They are two totally different phone series. V35 is more related to V40 and G8 internally than V30. The G8/V35/V40 are Snapdragon 845 "Judy" phones. V30 is "Joan" Snapdragon 835.
Why no ROMs? Took too long to get root, too hard, and V35 initially was only released for AT&T in U.S. Developers moved on to easier phones, distributed more widely.
I'd add a few more factors that stacked the deck against development for the V35.
It had a more geographically limited release than its siblings, the V40 and G7. Europe was not on the list and those phones are BL unlockable out of the box. Those phones really prime developer activity. The release in the US was by AT&T, Google, and later Amazon so limited there, too.
There are impending 3G shutdowns coming in NA so making phone calls will require VoLTE. Dev's have yet to reverse engineer the LG radio interface so that VoLTE can be supported on AOSP roms. Rooted stock is where I am for this reason and the same probably applies to anyone with LG V and G models soon enough, EoY 2020 for Verizon subscribers.
Lastly, there was the whole A/B slot transition with removal of the recovery partition.
Changes to TWRP had to be made.
Unless there are serious changes are forthcoming, this is my last LG phone. IMO, no A10 is the biggest strike against the V35.

Wait, is this confirmed? I thought they were at last eventually going to release A10 for the NA firmwares, is this not the case anymore? Edit: btw, I second the sentiment, this is my first LG phone but also my last. Their stock OS is kind of ackward in weird ways... it's not very polished. I came from a cheap lowmid Huawei phone and their OS was still very polished when compared to this LG. Huawei knew where to add "proprietary" utilities and where not to. The upgrade was still worth it because of the performance boost though.

It seems unlikely after so much time that an NA version of A10 will be released by LG. It is kind of moot at this point. Thanks to @cloud1250000 it is possible to flash the Korean A10 rom. Just follow his/her guide to localize to NA, CA or probably other regions. It works great!
