Hi,
I have a Eincar head unit and it was working perfectly fine. Yesterday I turned it on and I can't connect to the internet. It says it's connected to my wifi hotspot but no internet. I've tried everything and still nothing. It's not my hotspot because I'm within reach of my home wifi network and I still get no internet. Also do you know of any modded firmware I could use on my unit?
QuadCore-R16
6.0.1
5.3.19-7-42-656201-170225
v7.3.1_20170113.134439_YHT1
Thanks,
COG69
New scenario
Today when I went to turn on the EINCR 10" display unit in my other car I have the same thing, it says "connected no internet". What are the odds it happens to 2 different radios and nothing has changed on my hotspot or router.
It's weird that I can download from the play store and use Pandora.
Anybody else experience this?

My WiFi icon is orange but it seems that I am connecting to the internet. Anyone, any ideas what's going on?

Have you found out what to do?
Why not connect via Bluetooth to internet? Is for me the better approach.

I really tried to find this answer before posting!
My Simple Touch was working fine with my home wifi until I rooted it. Now it can't connect. The signal is fine; the nook is right beside this computer which is connected fine. It says the signal is good. It just never connects.
I tried forgetting it and adding that network again.
Suggestions?

What firmware version are you running? B&N made a number of improvements to wifi in later versions. You might upgrade to a later version and see if that work better. If you want to completely reset to factory, there are instructions for doing so.
Also, sometimes it depends on your router. Mine had trouble connecting because it didn't send it's SSID. (this problem persisted with all versions.) Check your router settings (or get your parents to) and see how it's configured, and be sure it is compatible with the nook.
some router is better, my nook2 wifi is OK in my home but does not work in office
Has anyone had any issues connecting to Wifi networks on their G2s? I got the verizon version on Saturday and haven't been able to get the phone working on 2 different wifi networks. I can connect to the wifi network just fine, but I can't access the internet at all. I can confirm that other devices are able to connect no problem.
Curious if anyone has some thoughts on how to potentially fix this. If not, will be heading back to Verizon to get a new one. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have the AT&T G2 version , it will connect to any wireless router but the connection will last 5 seconds then no internet, this is totally unacceptable I upgraded from the G-Pro and may go back as that never had this issue, I did read LG had a similar problem with the Nexus 4 and Optimus G
Mine works fine. I have a VZW G2 and an ATT G2 connected on the same router. It connects to both G and N networks.
No issues with my Verizon G2.

Did you try rebooting your router? I see this at home with the families iOS devices a lot, especially after heavy data traffic. I'll turn off the router for a couple hours or overnight and the next day all is well. Router is open, no encryption.

I have the exact same problem. It will sometimes transfer some data using browsers, but nothing on facebook, pandora, or the play store it will say connection lost or not data connection.
My wife has the same phone and it works no problem and also the laptop. Must be a dud wifi radio or something like that. Mine is going back to the store tomorrow.

Are you trying to use adblock by any chance? I was and it was causing the same issue you have. I uninstalled it and changed my proxy settings back to none and wifi is working great now.
Just received my LG G2 White brand new from T-Mobile about 2 hours ago. After many attempts to troubleshoot the issue it all failed. The problem is Wifi will connect to router and even work but after 30 seconds the connection goes down. The actual Wifi signal shows connected but no internet it gets stock. We tried resetting the phone and toggling with different features but still it did the same thing. T-Mobile is the worst they were trying to have me ship the phone back and leave me phone less for days. I complained and they are sending another one overnight but have charged me for the phone on my account. Mind you I've had months of bad service, after all I think I got a defective phone. I've read some other people having the same issue with other carriers. If I get another one with the same issue I'm jumping boat. If anyone knows of a work around let me know. I tried 2 different routers same issues connects then it randomly disconnects and stops downloading or transferring data.
Reset Phone - didn't work
Turned off mobile data - didn't work
Turned off wifi sleep - didn't work
I'm on Verizon. I have trouble with initial connection to wi-fi. It says obtaining IP address for a very long time. Even if I have a very strong signal. It takes about five minutes. It eventually connects and works fine. Then next time I try to connect to that router it works fine. It's only the first time I try to connect to a new router.
I just got this phone over the weekend and I was also having trouble connecting to my home wifi.
It would stay connected for 30 seconds or a couple of minutes then disconnect however the entire time the status under the Wi-Fi settings page says Connected even though I couldn't access the internet or the admin page of the router. Frustrating. If I turned off the mobile data, the wifi, the phone, the router, or some other unknown combination of events it would then reconnect again for another 30 seconds to a couple of minutes.
I called Verizon, they told me to take the phone back since I was within my 14 days. I did this and was optimistic. Then the new phone immediately experienced the same issue.
I did some more research, changed my router from 20 mhz channel width to auto 20/40 mhz. Not sure why it was set to just 20. I thought that would fix it. Nope.
I tried to set my phone to use a static IP, that didn't work either.
Then last night I tried the WPS Push Button option instead of using a password. This method worked and my phone stayed connected. I haven't had a chance to repeat my steps to verify it works again but wondering how other people are connecting, password, wps push button, wps pin? WPS is not my preferred option due to the security risks but just trying to track down what works and what doesn't.
I am able to connect at work just fine using a password.
I'm having a similar problem - my work network has no problem connecting while my home network almost never works with this phone (~25% of the time, other devices have no problem). Occasionally, resetting the phone or just turning on-and-off WiFi fixes the problem, but more often I just give up and use 4G. Anyway, if anyone finds a solution, please post! This is such a standard feature that should really work out of the box.
In case it helps, my home network uses "WPA/WPA2 PSK" security and my work connects to "802.1x EAP" security - also I'm not adverse to changing the security options if it fixes the problem.
Thanks! Nick
After reading more on this, I've decided this issue is router related not phone related.
I discovered my router reached end of life in April of this year is no longer receiving firmware updates. Newer versions of my router have received multiple updates since then.
I will be buying a new router. I report back on if it works.
I really don't think it is "router related" as all my other devices work as expected with my router. A new router may fix the problem, but I'm pretty sure the phone's WiFi is buggy and not the router..
Sent from my VS980 4G using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
In my situation it really appears to be how my router is handling the connection when I connect with a password since I can connect with limited security.
Does your router have a firmware update available for it? If so, have you applied it?
Received my new to me router yesterday with updated firmware as of 10/7/13.
My phone was connected for a few hours last night and I have not had any problems today. I'll report back if I start experiencing any issues but getting rid of my old, end of life router and replacing it with a newer router worked for me.
I did not buy a brand new router either. I went with a cradlepoint mbr95 which has been on the market for awhile and has already had a few firmware updates.
Check you wireless security settings
Had a similar issue to this and it seemingly was resolved when I moved the wireless router security over from WPA/WPA2 personal to WPA2 personal only. The phone found the WAP and connected right away. I tried to reproduce the behavior but alas I have not been able to do so. Perhaps this will help others.
hi guys
i found the problem
it happens just when you disable auto update in "settings>general>about phone>update center>software update>check automatically"
Hi everyone!
Recently, I bought my mother a Galaxy Tab A 8-inch device (Model Number SM-T350) and it theres an issue where the device seems to be connected to her Wifi network, but after a while, she is not able to browse the internet or use Viber. The Wifi Network shows connected. But after a specific time, when she needs to use Viber, she cannot connect to the internet even though the network is connected to her Wifi network.
Its not only Viber, but she cannot browse the internet using Firefox or the native browser.
The only way to resolve this is by turning ON/OFF the Wifi.
We tried a number of things like Setting the Sleep options to Never disconnect from Wifi, resetting the router, and so forth...
I tried updating the device but it seems like that this unit only goes up to Android 6.0..1. There is no security software that I know of installed on the device either. I checked the router settings as well and all devices going through that router are not Blacklisted. So all devices can pass or connect to the network. No MAC address filtering turned ON, it is OFF. But these settings are irrelevant to the issue in question, as the device Wifi shows status as Connected...
This is quite a "PITTY" situation as her Viber contacts cannot even call her either because of this issue.
To recap or to sum it up on the issue, is that after a while the internet does not seem to work on the device even though its connected to her Wifi network.
My mother does not have any other devices at her home.
I wonder if this is an Android bug or there is an issue with our router?
The router in question is a Cisco WRVS4400N if this helps.
Thanks
Bump. I have the same issue with my Tab A 6.

How old is there router
I have a similar problem with the Samsung Galaxy tablet a. My version is SM-T350. When I 1st got it a few years ago, everything worked great and I was able to connect to the Wi-Fi no problem. However, I believe that was after an update, the tab A will no longer connect to the Internet in less it is sitting right next to the router. Even this can be sketchy. It has to be within 2" to connect. I don't think it has anything to do with the router, but something with the internal Wi-Fi. I was thinking before when I wouldn't be able to connect it I had to select WEP instead of WPA
On these latest PX5 units have you guys experienced the wifi not connecting very well to an iPhone personal hotspot?
I have a JY-UM135N4PX5 Joying Android 8, PX5 4GB/32GB unit.
I've noticed on this one compared to my old Joying the wifi doesn't like to connect very well to my iphone X hotspot. Watching the wifi in the settings GUI I can see it saying "connecting, authenticating" and it connects for a sec to the iphone (as shown in the phone with the blue connect icon) and then immediately disconnects and tries again. Sometimes after about 2-3x it will show "getting ip address" and then connect. Other times it will try 4x and then say "Authentication Problem". I hooked up my old Joying to a bench tester and when powered on it connects to the iphone hotspot the first time every time.
I'm running Joying's latest firmware they just released on the 23rd.
I got same issue
I have same issue with a brand new PX5 by Xtrons. I just did 24+ hours driving over 3 days and am pretty sure of the following. PX5 with 8.0 OS works fine on good wifi, whether it's a hotspot mobile connection or wifi coming from a landline. However if the wifi becomes spotty, like driving through rural locations or poor wifi in RV campground, then it disconnects and reconnects until the wifi is strong again. It's like it has no patience to wait for the signal to improve. At one point it would no longer even see my hotspot and I reset it. I would hope a system update may fix this.
The Joying units suffer of the MAC-address problem. I already mailed this to Joying. A MAC-address is the unique hardware address of your WiFi adapter. On every reboot and on every wakeup of the unit, it changes this hardware MAC-address.
This really stupid software behavior causes problems with WiFi connection, "picky" (but actually safe) WiFi hotspots, with adb over tcpip, and maybe more. It also fills your DHCP tables on your WiFi router with useless addresses as your WiFi router has to hand out a new ip-address for every new MAC-address asking for it. It really is a Joying issues and "pure" Android will definitely not do this (It is prohibited in the IEEE standards).
In the latest 6 June firmware release for my model it has now been reduced to only switch/change on every cold reboot. Still very stupid, but at least much better.
My unit is an Xtrons running Android 8.0 with the factory version OS.
I think I fixed my problem. I turned off, under Wifi Preferences "Open Network Notification: Notify when a high-quality public network is available". It's now run smoothly on good or poor wifi connections for 3 days. This makes sense to me. If the unit has a poor wifi connection, it would disconnect, scan for new wifi with no password and then reconnect to what's available.

also had the problem on my old EONON GA9180a and now getting it on my Xtrons PE88jccpl, sometimes it connects perfectly but other times getting authenticating, authentication errors. Also, having problems with the speed when its connected it starts out fast and perfect but slows down to .2 to .3 mbps after a couple of minutes. I updated both MCU and android and still getting issues.
Px5 wifi issue
I use Huawei e8372 modem with my px5 and when it is connected the range (network) icon is shown but there is no internet however moden have router mode so I connect to wifi in my radio. Anyway this is not work good also, because wifi is still disconnecting, every 2 minutes and not connect again automatically. Wifi on in the sleep mode set to always, "Open Network Notification: Notify when a high-quality public network is available" is disabled. Any advise?

same unit, having same problem. Either the wifi won't connect unless I go into the settings and remind it to, or it will try connecting over and over again in some kind of loop, eventually ending with "Authentication Problem". Happening when trying to connect to either iPhone or S9 hotspot.
Same here with Malaysk ROM 2.0. on a PX5 unit
Lately it refuse to connect to my iPhone hotspot and hanging in Obtaining IP address.
WiFi direct possible fix
Possible fixes has anyone tried a WiFi direct app something like securetether which bypasses the built in Android hotspot or netshare ?
I have the same problem, could you guys do me a favor?
Try to set the hotspot channel manually in your phone if it is possible to channel 6 for example and try if it works.
My PX5 unit had problems with wifi channels above channel 9, in my old phone I set this value manually and it worked for months, but in my S9+ this setting is missing

What I found out was when I enabled the WiFi and BT scanning options in (scanning settings) this function only pops up when you disable WiFi, then enable them, then come out of that then WiFi signals should show up and it should connect without dropping out, but the only thing is when you've switched off the unit for a while and turn it on again you may not see any WiFi until you disable then re enable the same settings.
yeah I can't find any channel setting on my S9 either. Nor on iPhone 7, but I will keep trying. Glad to know I am not the only one with this problem.
Wifi authentication solution iphone
I moved from a px3 MTCB HA unit running Android 7.1 which connected perfectly to a MTCE LM v2.88 unit (PX5 4gb 32 gb) with Android 8.0
Terrible problems with authentication. The only fix was a cold boot (hold down reset, lights flash after 15 secs, press reset again)
I tried all the different wifi settings across the forums.
My iphone runs ios12.1 - and every time it would just stick in an ‘authentication problem loop’ - changed name, reset phone, reset password- nothing.
The fix- I moved to hal9k V3 ROM and it has worked perfectly for a week, no interventions- just perfect.
Its a very easy switch on my device - download the zip, install the app and run it, load new software.
No idea why that worked but it is now a perfect head unit.
I have the Xtrons PE88M211PL. I can't connect to wifi either. I haven't tried the notify idea above and that's next. But the wifi nob won't even toggle to wifi. I have my phone tethered and have tried the android through usb and bluetooth options. I need to log into googlemaps to get the offline mode to find my maps. And it says no connection. Thing is, I did get a connection once, at least it started to authenticate an xfinity wifi hotpot but it was too weak.
The MAC adress on my Joying keeps changing. As consequence it (the Joying HU) isn't shown as "trusted device" on my Samsung. Only after manually entering the Mac adress the HU connects to my phone. I run my Joying with latest firmware 2018 - 11 and the Joying support is informed. They are working for a solution.
Unfortunately the HU, now, is used as a screen. I run Android Auto on it, which obviously is a phone app. In short: the Joying HU is very much underperforming as it has full tablet capacities which all can't be used. Joying is working on a solution. And I hope that participants in this thread overhere might already found a solution?

I have mentioned this multiple times to Joying and already in June they "promised" as solution. So far: nothing.
Hi after much reading and searching I have still not come up with a proper answer and was wondering if anybody here may be able to help me? My issue is WiFi connection on my xtrons headunit (probably been discussed a million times) I have been able to use WiFi both with 4G google and tethered to iPhone but this will only work maybe 1/100 times, now the unit will show many networks but neither my phone or dongle?? So therefore I cannot connect?
When my networks are shown it just cycles between connecting and authenticating and will not connect.
If I reboot everything it may connect once but then back to same problem. Such a shame as the unit is best used with full internet connection. As I say when it has connected it has been great but only works for short period then will show networks but will not connect. Any help would be amazing. Thanks in advance.
