I am interested in changing some go the look on my new head unit. For one I would like to add apps to the bar along the top. Also I would like to change the icons used they look old. In general I would like other mods and info. Is anyone doing any work on these units?
Wondering the same thing! Would love some modding on these units, just got one for my truck. Trying to figure out where to start

I am new to the android world and i have a few questions so please bare with me. I recently installed a new Eonon Ga7165 in my BMW e90. And the first thing i noticed was that the main UI is showing a clock from overseas somewhere and you are not able to change the time or delete the widget. Here lies the problem, I don't like the UI more like the Radio turner or the clock in the main screen. I would much rather have the old UI on the radio. Does anyone know or have done any changes the unit and guide me on how to do it. I would like to replaced the preinstalled apps in the unit, as they are currently all locked by the Eonon. Why i have no idea?
My question:
1. how to change the main clock on the UI
2. How to change the radio tuner
3. How to change the music turner ( if you have any better recommendation I am opened)
Any help is appreciated thank you in advance
Hi guys,
New to the forum, tech savy/IT background. I purchased one of these units from China, terrible/zero tech support, but have managed to get it working for the most part: (because I'm a new poster, I can't attach links, but if you search on Amazon: w166 android, that is my unit)
My question is this -- I bought it for the Dashboard app (app that has the speedo/tachy in the link above -- sorry, can't post pictures yet) but the unit did not have it preloaded. The seller claims his engineer updated the OS and the app no longer works, but I don't believe him. I'm trying to find the actual name of said app so I can try and sideload the .apk myself.
I don't see a lot of people looking around these parts for help on the Mercedes Android head units, but here to hopefully change that and offer up help/suggestions.
Thanks!
Hello and thank you for taking the time to read!
I have a GA9203NB from Eonon. This is a 10.25" head unit with 2GB of RAM for a BMW.
I don't know if all the builders of this kind of head units are like Eonon, but at Eonon no updates, no support (if not a guy on Messenger that tells you to wait, probably for life...)
In short, apart from casse and translation problems, I have a problem on my screen (probably due to the ROM modified to the wild by Eonon), indeed, the icons "home", "multitasking" and "return" are white. On a black screen, no problem ... However, as soon as the application is in white background (Play Store for example) the icons are invisible ... It's embarrassing.
I would like to know if I can modify the ROM by one that would have been designed by a person who knows how to do a minimum of computer programming. But if this is impossible, I would like to know if there is a method to work around this problem.
(If I don't say nonsense, the processor is a rk3399)
Thanks Xda
Sylvain.

Hi all,
i am a newbie to all of this and looking for some information and help if possible.
i have a BMW E92 2010 not that matters much but i want to use a android tablet in there to act like and information system for stuff like navigation, music and if possible reading the car. i have read lots of threads and its all a bit confusing to me reading a lot of different information and not being able to know what is the best course of action for what i want to achieve.
i have a Nexus 7 2013 2nd gen tablet outdated but should be ok for my needs.
i have read about some car launchers FCC Car Launcher, CarWebGuru, Car Ultra Home, Car Dashboard to name a few i need one that i can customise if they have got the functions in i need?
also need help rooting, roms, kernals there are so many its hard to choose which will be the right one for my use so if anyone could suggest which would be best.
all information would be a great help many thanks all
Hi All,
I'm looking to upgrade my old MTCD android head unit and I noticed these new Tesla style devices having much bigger screens. Unfortunately, from the device description from different sites and sellers as well as from the forum, I was not able to understand if it makes any sense to go for one of these tesla models.
The following few questions keep me absolutely puzzeled:
1. It seems that the bottom of the screeb is busy with the climate controls. For my car however the physical climate controls stay intact so I dom't understand what's the point of these virtual ones. Does it show some more information or what? Does this bottom part of the screen havr any other function?
2. For my current device, I was used to downloading ROMs from xda devs forum. However I didn't find a separate forum thread for these tesla style ROMs is it the same ROM as for the "classic" devices?
3. There is a thread about tesla style devices in the forum, however most about the posts there are about rooting the devices. Is rooting a must to have these devices usable?
Any advise or comparison is greatly appreciated,
Thanks
I'm also interested to know the answers to these questions, so it'd be great if anybody that has one of these units could please respond.
I'd also like to ask, can you use split screen on these between two regular android apps (like Poweramp and Waze for example)? I've seen lots of videos of these units on Youtube but they only focus and the stock apps (like audio and video players) which I don't intend to use much since I already have other Android apps that I like.
Thanks in advance.
