Redmi Note 7 - constant error7 - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Questions & Answers

What can I do if I wiped the data trying to flash the last official miui and then later Pixel Experience and i'm getting the error 7 message everytime?
I'm using the last orangefox, wiping the usual things before flashing. I'm stuck with a dead phone at the moment.
If I recall correctly I was on android 9 before but I tried flashing latest miui10 and it gives me the same error.

First boot to twrp wipe system, data, cache, dalvik and then choose reboot to recovery from twrp only. After the phone reboots into twrp again, flash the ROM.
Thanks.. it really worked!!

How do I revert to stock miui without pc

I am running resurrection remix mm 5.7.4 with twrp 3.0.2 by kumajaya on my redmi 2 prime with lollipop bootloader( 2014818 Indian 2 gb ram variant )
I lost my miui twrp backups and now my pc is not working too.
I want to install miui on my phone back preferably lollipop miui 7.
Is there any way to do so without a pc recovery itself?
Download the recovery zip file of MIUI by googling it. (Version you required)
If you want latest version.
Then Google 'MIUI downloads' and search your device and download the ROM.
Then head over to TWRP and flash the zip.
It will give error for the first time.
Flash it again.
It will get flashed.
Then hit reboot, and reboot your device.
Voila! Now you have MIUI on your device.
I have successfully installed miui lollipop base on my redmi 2 prime without any errors.
Also I have confirmed from external app and settings the information of the device that it shows the correct device info.( provided my custom showed correct device info ).
I tried installing the miui ROM as sethidheeraj said. I started wiping system artcache cache and data but was not able to install miui after repeated tries
Then I restored my custom ROM backup
Then by following these steps I got miui back :
1 install your custom ROM( I had rr 5.7.4 mm) or restore your custom ROM backup
2 boot to recovery and flash the miui ROM without wiping system partition
3 it will take real good amount of time and the logs displayed on twrp also aren't very long, don't worry it is still being installed
4 just for your surity wipe data and caches and again flash the miui ROM
5 reboot to system and take a drink for a while coz it is the first boot
Tadaaaa
You have your stock miui back
Also no damages to your recovery or anything.
Download twrp 3.0.2.0 of kumajaya twrp because its device model no will be in wt88047etc...not hm2014818...use flashify app tp flash recovery. Img on using ur rooted custom rr remix...boot to recovery... Wipe cache, dalvil, system,data....then make sure Miui lp rom is in internal memory.... Then install it...it will give some error on start....then install again...it will take around 20min for install plus full boot up.

I don't have a video tho but I meant that you should only wipe data and caches but leave system as it is. ( My phone had rr marshmallow installed before.) After rr I haven't tried any custom roms so I don't know whether it will work on others. So just flash miui 7.5 like you would for an OTA but do wipe your data and caches

E1001/Error 7 Failed to update system image

Hi guys,
so I am running into a strange issue: I can't flash any ROMs in recovery anymore.
I switched to Pixel Experience Q from xiaomi.eu's MIUI ROM ~1 week ago without wiping internal storage, so I ended up not being able to use TWRP as I was faced with a password prompt that accepted none of my passwords (current, previous or default_password, etc.). So when an update for PE came I thought "okay let's get this over with now" and did a complete wipe including /data/media from OrangeFox recovery - so far so good.
Now I transferred back the new ROM zip and wanted to proceed flashing it.
Result: Error 7 Failed to update system image (E1001)
Confused by this I went back to the previous version's zip, but the same error comes up.
Even more confused I downloaded all kinds of ROMs and every single one comes up with this error.
I tried
another full wipe
mounting/unmounting system before flashing
MIUI, Android 10, Android 9 ROMs
Different versions of TWRP and OFR
Even different firmware packages
Removed assert and abort lines in the updater-script (which results in skipping the flashing of the system image and then failing at vendor)
Flashing by adb sideload
So the only thing getting me back to a working phone is flashing a fastboot ROM. That works.
Even after doing that, flashing back TWRP/OrangeFox, wiping and flashing a ROM the same error comes up again. I also checked the MD5 hash for my files. They are fine.
I am at a loss of ideas at this point and no solution I found helped. I hope you guys can help me. Thanks in advance. :-/
Well, scratch that, I guess.
After hours of troubleshooting somehow it's working again now.
So for anyone who gets this issue:
Flash a fastboot ROM and...go to sleep and try in the morning.
I'm facing the same problem now.. I think after trying many times its a flash problem, because when I flash over fastboot sometimes stick on 5/7 and others 3/7 etc.. well its a xiaomi is something to expect.
Format Data partition, not just wipe, this should fix those kind of issues.
This.
After more xiaomi devices and more flashing I can definitely say this is the fix.

Try transferring the ROM using a USB 3.0 port. Worked for me...
I am facing the same problem. Can you help me?

Please Help! Redmi 4 Prime bricked

Let me explain what happened step by step
My Redmi 4 Prime was in global stable latest miui 10 build
step 1 : I unlocked the boot loader using the official boot loader unlock tool, i even saw that it was unlocked.
Step 1.5 : i had downloaded Cosmic OS from official site and the beta build of MIUI 11 from an unofficial site but i made sure that they are of Redmi 4
step 2 : I installed TWRP 3.1.1 , wiped Dalvik & Cache, Then tried to install Cosmic OS (Yes i'm a fool to not backup before) It showed an error and Failed to install.
Step 3 : The mistake comes here.. Instead of just Factory reset wipe I did Internal Storage Wipe, Which I guess also that my current Rom is gone?
Then, when i boot it, it comes to the MI Unlocked boot screen, I tried rebooting by using the volume buttons to TWRP, After some time it changed back to Fastboot screen no TWRP, So I flashed TWRP again
I understood that I erased OS but then when i tried to install the beta build i downloaded earlier it failed as well. Now i tried to see what was the error and it says the build was for "santoni" and my device for . (the dot), It said my device just a dot. Then installing of Cosmic began and it said it was for Mido.
and now i am stuck here with that MI unlocked logo screen
Can anyone please help me what to do about this?
Update: My phone is ok now
I just booted into fastboot mode, downloaded mi flash tool, it showed an error of drivers not installed, I created a "log" folder in the place where the tool was there and installed the drivers and then downloaded miui 10 stock ROM of redmi 4 prime, which didn't work, so I tried putting redmi 4x ROM and it worked out without a problem. And later it booted normally

So, apparently, your's is not a markw
Same happens with my redmi 4
Same Happens with me when i was also tried to install ROM. This happened because you didn't flash it with lazy flasher after flashing twrp.

Can't install any ROM.

Hi,
I used Lineage OS 17.1 Lavender on my Xiaomi Redmi Note 7. I used their recovery to install the ROM and open gapps. Recently I downloaded the Brave Browser and I wanted to enable rewards. I than googled, that Brave doesn't allow rewards on rooted phones. I decided to wipe the entire phone, since I don't use the root functionality and to re-flash Lineage OS 17.1. I factory reseted the phone and wiped everything, just like I did, when I installed Lineage for the first time. I clicked on "Yes" when prompted that the ISO couldn't be verified, and waited for the flash. After a while I was "greeted" with Updater process ended with Error 7. I did some research and found out that it is something to do with the updater file verification and that I should try and delete some lines. I did that, but the error persisted. I than decided to try another ROM. I used Pixel Experience since it was working on my device before. Unfortunatly I had no luck. Same error message. I than tried to flash TWRP with fastboot, which worked. Wiped my device, just like they say it in all the guides (Dalvik, Data, Cache) and tried to flash Lineage (still no luck), than PixelExperience (still no luck) and Magisk worked. After I flashed Magisk I tried Lineage and Pixel once again, but still the same error.
If you know, how to fix that error I will be so glad. Is it possible that my device is bricked and beyond recovery? Thank you in advance.
update your tvvrp
Which firmware do you have installed? Use stable to maximum compatibility, on some ROMs if you have latest you gonna get that error. Also, use the latest TWRP or Orange Fox.
As Tatoh said, this error occurs when you have old firmware flashed on your RN7, some roms require specific version but usually flashing latest stable will give you best compatibility, here you have xda links to latest xiaomi firmware files: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-7/development/firmware-xiaomi-redmi-note-7-t3925871
