Heard that the camera works all time.
Camera of of the device works along with screen on time.
Screen stays lit if we are looking at the screen. And the camera senses the light and adjusts the brightness.
Is this true?

Hi,
Is there any possibility to speed up the camera?
No.
Damn, why does this forum force me to make my message at least 10 characters long...?
Switch off the shutter sound.
Have you tried this, while you are in camera mode turn off the PDA wait for ten seconds and then turn it back on,you will notice that while the image is somewhat darker the framerate does not lag when you move the phone, its more noticeable when you are in a not very well lit room.
Actually what you mention works better when in camera mode you turn it off, cover the lens with your hand, then turn it on with your hand still covering the lens, wait a second or two then use the camera. while the image quality isn't as great because it's low light, frame rate is much faster. but the moment you point at some bright light, it resets again. kind of a lame hack but what are we gonna do...
if you're in a bright light situation, such as outdoors on a sunny day, frame rate is fine.
Try this from the Kaiser forum. It worked on older roms.

Did anybody got a idea to switch the Keyboard illumination separately off.
During specially ambient light conditions the keyboard layout comes unreadable.
Thanks Ingo
on my device, the KB lights are automatically turned on if the light is not enough, it's using the light sensor (same for LCD brightness).
Same, when the light is very poor the light sensor triggers the keyboard lights to turn on
Yeh
One thing I have been very pleased with on my Xperia is the sensitivity and success rate of the automatic light sensing.
Every phone I have had in the past 5 or so years has had this sort of thing (incuding almost every N series device from Nokia and an iPhone and non even came close to switching as correctly (at the right time) and as quickly as this does.
I have not once yet found myself having a problem with seeing the screen or Keyboard.
does anyone else get an issue that the G2's backlight for the physical keyboard and capacative buttons have absolutly no idea when to be on and when to be off. I can be in a fully lit room and have the backlight on for no reason at all. is there any way to fix this? it gets very annoying very quickly.
It's a problem with the light sensor, but I think it can be corrected with software. The sensor seems to reflect differences in brightness really well, but the software tends to set everything to levels appropriate for brighter conditions. This leads to full screen brightness and no key backlighting even under dim interior lighting conditions.
my screen is SUPER Bright regardless of ambient light (in automode) I rely on the manual settings.
and yes I do have the same problem ... even on my second g2.
Same here. My backlight and softkeys go on and off randomly while in bright light and checking the time while waking up briefly during the night is painful because it is always extra bright.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
thanks swags. hoping for a software update soon. its really annoying. also is it normal that i get this issue even without auto brightness
I am currently running JPA/JPB Hybrid firmware and I was wondering if there even is a sensor for the auto-brightness.
Normaly I have set my brightness to the lowest level, which is enough for indoor usage. But as soon as I am outdoors in the sunlight I can't even tell if the display is on or off with this brightness level.
Now the strange thing about this is that it does not seem to make a difference whether you check the "Power saving mode" in the Display settings or not - the Display brightness always stays the same:
- with the highest level it does not get darker in very dark rooms to save battery
- with the lowest level it does not get brighter even in direct sunlight, which makes the display unusable
On the left of the Samsung-logo there are 2 "holes", I guess one must be the proximity sensor and the other one the brightness sensor?
Is there any way to have the brightness on a very low level in dark rooms and on a high level in bright rooms / outdoor WITHOUT switching manually? Even switching with a widget sucks, because outdoors the display is so dark that I can't even draw the pattern to unlock the screen first (at least not without covering the display from the sunlight)
If there is I think the driver is missing so it's useless.
There is a brigness sensor, not for auto adjusting the screen brighness, for example try *#0*# and press sensor, now if you put you finger on the sensor, you phone vibrates, it means it is dark, if your finger is not on the sensor, it says, its brighten outside, that is for example to telephone, the screen goes dark, when you put the phone to your ears
"that is for example to telephone, the screen goes dark, when you put the phone to your ears"
No, that's the proximity sensor, and I think there is no light sensor in SG3, because that test app shows only proximity, accelerometer and magnetic sensor.

Power Saving is not for dynamically change the strenght of backlight. It's just turning to lowest level when your battery is 15% and less.
And there is 2 holes, for proximity sensor. Try to cover one hole, and it doesn't work. Why? Because 1 hole sending an infrared (I think...) wave, and second is receiving that back, from eg., your hand.

totaly makes sense - thank you very much!
Hi,
When my phone is set to night light and I unlock it, there's a second or two delay before the screen turns on the night light, which is really annoying in dark places. This started to happen after A10 update, all versions so far. Is there a way to fix it? I'm rooted.

This is intentional because the fingerprint scanner uses the screen's brightness (and the color green) to shine a light on your finger so that it recognizes your fingerprint.
If night light stays on, that green light will have a different shade of green, thus preventing the camera underneath the screen from taking an accurate picture of your fingerprint.

Oh, this makes sense, thanks. I wish it would be disabled for people who don't use the fingerprint scanner at all, like me.
